To quantify the contribution of denitrification and autotrophic and heterotrophic nitrification to N2O production in Andosols with a relatively high organic matter content, we first examined the effect of C2H2 concentrations on N2O production and on changes in mineral N contents. The optimum C2H2 concentration for inhibiting autotrophic nitrification was 10 Pa. In contrast, peptone increased N2O production (5.66 mg N2O–N kg-1) mainly by denitrification (80% of total production). However, dicyandiamide reduced N2O production to 1.1 mg N2O–N kg-1. A field experiment was conducted to determine N2O concentrations in the soil profile and emissions as influenced by the application of N fertilizers and manure in a typical Japanese Andisol, which had been under a rotation of oat and carrot for the previous 3 years. The treatments include ammonium sulphate (AS), controlled-release fertilizer (CRF) and cattle manure (CM) in addition to a control; all the fertilizers were applied either at 150 kg N ha-1 or 300 kg N ha-1 at the time of sowing carrot. N2O emissions from the soil surface were measured with closed-chamber techniques, while N2O concentrations in the soil profile were measured using stainless steel sampling probes inserted into the soil at depths of 10, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 cm. Moreover, soil water potential, soil temperature and rainfall data were also recorded. The results indicated that N2O concentrations in the soil profile were always greater than in the atmosphere, ranging from 0.36 µl N2O-N l-1 to 5.3 µl N2O-N l-1. The relatively large accumulation of N2O in the lower profiles may be a significant source for N2O flux. Taking the changes of soil mineral N into consideration, most emissions of N2O were probably produced from nitrification. The accumulation of N2O in the soil profile and emissions to the atmosphere were differently influenced by the amendments of N fertilizers and manure, being consistently higher in CRF than in CM and AS treatments at the corresponding application rates, but no significant difference existed with respect to the various N sources. 相似文献

N2O and NO emissions from an Andisol maize field were studied. The experimental treatments were incorporation of urea into the plough layer at 250 kg N ha-1 by two applications (UI250), band application of urea at a depth of 8 cm at 75 kg N ha-1 plus incorporation of urea into the plough layer at 75 kg N ha-1 (UB150), band application of polyolefin-coated urea at a depth of 5 cm at 150 kg N ha-1 (CB150), and a control (without N application). N2O fluxes from UI250 and UB150 peaked following the incorporation of supplementary fertilizer, and declined to the background level after that, while the N2O flux from CB150 was relatively low but remained at a constant level until shortly after harvest. Accordingly, the total N2O emissions during the whole cultivation period from the three treatments were not significantly different. The fertilizer-derived N2O-N losses from UI250, UB150 and CB150 were 0.15%, 0.27% and 0.28% of the applied N, respectively. However, it was suggested that, due to the low plant N recovery, UI250 had a significantly larger potential for indirect N2O emission than the other treatments. On the other hand, NO emissions from UI250 and UB150 were 12 times higher than that from CB150, and the fertilizer-derived NO-N losses from the three treatments were 0.16%, 0.27% and 0.026% of the applied N, respectively. The quantitative resistance gene pi21 from Sensho was introgressed to an indica breeding line IR63307-4B-13-2, a pyramiding line IRBB4/5/13/21, and a tropical japonica line Kinandang Patong by marker-assisted backcrossing. A total of 192 improved lines at the BC_4F_3 and BC_4F_4 generations were developed and confirmed to have the gene introgression via genotyping using a pi21-specific In Del marker. Thirteen randomly selected improved lines, representing all the three genetic backgrounds, demonstrated resistance against leaf blast composites in the field and a broader spectrum resistance against individual isolates compared to the recurrent parents in the glasshouse. Specifically, the tested lines exhibited pi21-acquired resistance against 11 leaf blast isolates that elicited susceptible reactions from the recurrent parents. All the tested lines maintained a comparative heading date, and similar or improved panicle length, number of primary branches per panicle and number of total grains per panicle relative to the recurrent parents. The physical grain characteristics of the recurrent parents were also maintained in the 13 lines tested, although variability in the amylose content and chalkiness degree was observed. The successful marker-assisted introgression of pi21 in diverse genetic backgrounds and the resulting broader spectrum resistance of improved lines against leaf blast indicate the potential of pi21 for deployment in cultivars grown across other rice growing regions in Asia. 相似文献

There is significant lack of basic hematologic and immunological data in adult sows. Therefore, aim of this study was to provide respective reference intervals. 32 clinically healthy multiparous Large White sows aged 33.5 ± 9.6 months and all of them two months postpartum were included in this study. Mean erythrocyte count was 5.5 ± 0.7 × 10(6)/μl and total leukocyte count was 12.1 ± 2.1 × 10(3)/μl. Proportion of lymphocytes was 44.7 ± 10.2% and of neutrophils 41.6 ± 11.0%. The ratio of na?ve T helper (Th) cells to memory Th cells was 1:3.1 and the ratio of Th cells to cytotoxic T cells (CTLs) was 1:4.2. Proportions of regulatory T cells, NK cells, and CD21(+) B cells were lower (3.1, 2.6, and 6.0%) than those of memory Th cells ranging from 8.8 to 27.5% depending on the activation status and CTLs with 37.3%. γδ T cells were found at comparably high numbers (19.1%). Flow cytometric measurement of intracellular cytokines in PBMCs revealed marginal levels for IL-1β, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, and IL-12p35, but remarkable levels for TNF-α and IFN-γ. Neuronal ceroid-lipofuscinosis (NCL) is a rare group of inherited neurodegenerative lysosomal storage diseases characterized histopathologically by the abnormal accumulation of ceroid- or lipofuscin-like lipopigments in neurons and other cells throughout the body. The present article describes the clinical, pathologic, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of the NCL in three longhaired Chihuahuas between 16 mo and 24 mo of age. Clinical signs, including visual defects and behavioral abnormalities, started between 16 mo and 18 mo of age. Cranial MRI findings in all the dogs were characterized by diffuse severe dilation of the cerebral sulci, dilated fissures of diencephalons, midbrain, and cerebellum, and lateral ventricular enlargement, suggesting atrophy of the forebrain. As the most unusual feature, diffuse meningeal thickening was observed over the entire cerebrum, which was strongly enhanced on contrast T1-weighted images. The dogs' conditions progressed until they each died subsequent to continued neurologic deterioration between 23 mo and 24 mo of age. Histopathologically, there was severe to moderate neuronal cell loss with diffuse astrogliosis throughout the brain. The remaining neuronal cells showed intracytoplasmic accumulation of pale to slightly yellow lipopigments mimicking ceroid or lipofuscin. The thickened meninges consisted of the proliferation of connective tissues with abundant collagen fibers and mild infiltration of inflammatory cells suggesting neuroimmune hyperactivity. Although the etiology of this neuroimmune hyperactivity is not currently known, MRI findings such as meningeal thickening may be a useful diagnostic marker of this variant form of canine NCL. 相似文献

A 28-month-old African hedgehog was referred to our hospital with progressive tetraparesis. On the first presentation, the hedgehog was suspected as having wobbly hedgehog syndrome (WHS) and the animal was treated with medication and rehabilitation. The animal died 22 days after onset. Pathological examination revealed that the animal was involved in astrocytoma between the medulla oblongata and the spinal cord (C1). This report indicates that a primary central nervous system tumor should be considered as one of the differential diagnoses for hedgehogs presenting with progressive paresis, together with WHS. 相似文献
