The average contents, in mg/kg edible portion (e.p.), of elements not considered for nutritional labeling in Spanish table olives were as follows: aluminum, 71.1; boron, 4.41; barium, 2.77; cadmium, 0.04; cobalt, 0.12; chromium, 0.19; lithium, 6.56; nickel, 0.15; lead, 0.15; sulfur, 321; tin, 18.4; strontium, 9.71; and zirconium, 0.04. Sulfur was the most abundant element in table olives, followed by aluminum and tin (related to green olives). There were significant differences between elaboration styles, except for aluminum, tin, and sulfur. Ripe olives had significantly higher concentrations (mg/kg e.p.) of boron (5.32), barium (3.91), cadmium (0.065), cobalt (0.190), chromium (0.256), lithium (10.01), nickel (0.220), and strontium (10.21), but the levels of tin (25.55) and zirconium (0.039) were higher in green olives. The content of contaminants (cadmium, nickel, and tin) was always below the maximum limits legally established. The discriminant analysis led to an overall 86% correct classification of cases (80% after cross-validation).  相似文献

To improve the storability of sugar beets, this study aimed at determining reasons for genotypic variability in sugar losses and invert sugar accumulation during storage, and at identifying indirect criteria to select for varieties with low storage losses prior to storage. In 2011 and 2012, 18 genotypes, and in 2012 and 2013, six genotypes cultivated at two locations were stored for 8 and 12 weeks at 8°C under controlled conditions. The same 18 genotypes were grown under stress conditions in Spain in 2012/2013. Sugar losses were closely correlated with the invert sugar accumulation after storage. Genotypic differences in storage losses were primarily caused by differences in the level of infestation with microorganisms. The invert sugar accumulation was lower for genotypes with high marc concentration before storage, pointing to a non‐specific resistance. Additionally, the sugar concentration in dry matter before storage, and the invert sugar concentration after cultivation under stress conditions correlated with the invert sugar concentration after storage. These parameters are therefore suggested as criteria to select for improved storability of sugar beet genotypes.  相似文献

Concentrations of the main dimeric and trimeric procyanidins (PC) and their monomeric constitutive units catechin (CT) and epicatechin (EC) were determined in food samples by using reversed phase high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (RP-HPLC-ESI-MS/MS). In a first step, 12 PCs (PC B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B6, B7, B8, C1, C2, and A2 and cinnamtannin B1), of which most are not commercially available, were isolated from plant materials or synthesized and purified by a combination of column chromatographic separation techniques with different stationary phases. These PCs in combination with CT and EC were used as standard substances for identification and quantification during the following screening of food samples by RP-HPLC-ESI-MS/MS analysis. The main focus of the newly developed RP-HPLC-ESI-MS/MS method is the compensation of matrix effects by using the echo-peak technique simulating internal standard injection. The suitability of this new method was demonstrated by the determination of recovery rates being 90% or higher. Use of this method allowed the determination of patterns and concentrations of PCs in 55 food samples.  相似文献

A gene that controls resistance to chickpea rust (Uromyces ciceris-arietini) has been identified in a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population derived from an interspecific cross between Cicer arietinum (ILC72) × Cicer reticulatum (Cr5-10), susceptible and resistant to rust, respectively. Both parental lines and all RILs displayed a compatible interaction but differed in the level of infection measured as Disease Severity (DS) and Area Under the Disease Progress Curve (AUDPC). Histological studies of the seedlings of resistant parental Cr5-10 line revealed a reduction in spore germination, appressorium formation, number of haustoria per colony and colony size, with little host cell necrosis, fitting the definition of partial resistance. A Quantitative Trait Locus (QTL) explaining 31% of the total phenotypic variation for DS in seedlings and 81% of the AUDPC in adult plants in the field was located on linkage group 7 of the chickpea genetic map. The AUDPC displayed a bimodal distribution with high frequency of susceptible lines and both the AUDPC and markers showed the same distorted segregation. Consequently, it was hypothesised that a single dominant gene (proposed as Uca1/uca1) controlled resistance to rust in adult plants. This allowed us to locate the gene on the genetic linkage map. Two Sequence Tagged Microsatellite Sites (STMS) markers, TA18 and TA180 (3.9 cM apart) were identified that flank the resistance gene. These findings could be the starting point for a Marker-Assisted Selection (MAS) programme for rust resistance in chickpea.  相似文献

Changes in physicochemical properties of egg yolk were investigated after a treatment with phospholipase A 2 (PLA 2), where phospholipids are converted in lyso-phospholipids. Protein solubility and protein denaturation before and after modification by PLA 2 was monitored as well as the functionality of egg yolk by means of interfacial tension. Enzymatic treatment showed a significant impact on the properties of egg yolk with regard to protein solubility and denaturation behavior. To gain a closer insight, egg yolk was separated in its water-soluble fraction called plasma and the insoluble granules. Both fractions were separately modified by PLA 2. The granule fraction shows a higher protein solubility, and the plasma proteins show very high heat stability after modification by PLA 2. Hypotheses regarding related changes in the low-density lipoprotein (LDL) particles are discussed. Results suggest that significant differences in the functional properties of untreated and PLA 2-modified egg yolk do not primarily result from the existence of lyso-phospholipids but from structural changes in egg yolk granules and LDL particles.  相似文献

Immobilization of metals by two materials (zeolite, AZ, and a synthetic, carbonate-rich material, “slovakite”, SL) was tested in a pot experiment with two soils from urban areas of Sevilla and two soils affected by a mine spill. Barley (Hordeum vulgare L. Hispanic) was grown in the pots, and metal contents were measured after 31 days in shoots and roots. Available metal was estimated by extraction with CaCl2 (readily soluble), ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA; plant available), a mixture of organic acids (soluble by root exudates), and glycine (bioaccessible by ingestion). Neither treatment caused significant differences on plant growth or metal contents of shoots, whereas roots contained more Cu in the SL treatments. Root Zn uptake was reduced in all cases, but reduction of Pb in roots was observed only in AZ treatments of the mine-spill soils. The effects on metal availability were often method-dependent. Decrease of CaCl2 data were observed only in the mine-spill soils. EDTA-soluble metals were clearly decreased by both materials. Bioaccessible Zn were decreased by either material in several cases (but not in the most heavily polluted soil), whereas Cu or Pb data were less conclusive.  相似文献

In a search for alternative, environmentally friendly and effective disinfecting agents, a commercially available protease—Neutrase®—was tested in this work for inactivation of koi herpesvirus (KHV) and of viral haemorrhagic septicaemia virus (VHSV). For comparison, the stability of these viral pathogens in similar configurations at various pH values and concentrations of peracetic acid or quicklime, typically used for disinfection, was tested. Therefore, virus suspensions were incubated with various concentrations of different agents for 24 hr and the titre of the remaining infectious particles was determined by virus titration. Furthermore, the treatment of both viruses, with the agents at concentrations that were previously appointed as effective, was also examined in the presence of solid material (quartz sand). All procedures investigated in this study, including the protease treatment, were able to reduce the titre of KHV and VHSV below the detection limit of the titration. Although further studies are necessary, this is the first report of the application of a protease for the inactivation of the selected fish pathogens, demonstrating the great potential of the latter for disinfection.  相似文献
