Juvenile Penaeus kerathurus (average weight = 0.64 g) were fed three different daily amounts (40%, 60% and 100% of biomass) of an unprocessed and unsupplemented diet composed of 43% anchovy, 33% shrimp head and 24% squid, whose suitability for P. kerathurus had been previously assessed. The experiment was performed with an animal density of 30/m2 at 23° C for a period of 180 days. From the results obtained, it is concluded that, of the three feeding rates employed, 100% of biomass was suitable for animals weighing 0.64–1.8 g. For animals 1.8–4.3 g a feeding rate of 60% was appropriate, while a reduction to 40% seemed satisfactory for animals over 4.3 g in this experiment. 相似文献

Lactuca indica (Compositae) is an edible wild vegetable, used as a folk medicine in anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and other medications in Asia. This is the first scientific evaluation of the chemopreventive therapeutic properties of L. indica using five antioxidation assay systems. An extract from L. indica was found to possess significant free radical scavenging activity, effectively protecting phix174 supercoiled DNA against strand cleavage and reducing oxidative stress in human promyelocytic leukemia HL-60 cells. Moreover, extracts of L. indica almost totally inhibited nitric oxide production and the mRNA expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase, at a dosage of 100 microg/mL, in LPS-stimulated macrophage RAW264.7 cells. Bioactivity-guided chromatographic fractionation and metabolite profiling coupled with spectroscopic analyses revealed that the six phenolic compounds, that is, protocatechulic acid (1), methyl p-hydroxybenzoate (2), caffeic acid (3), 3,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid (4), luteolin 7-O-beta-glucopyranoside (5), and quercetin 3-O-beta-glucopyranoside (6), are the major antioxidative constituents in the L. indica extract. 相似文献

Summary Shoot development through morphological transformation in spikelets occurred after segments of young unemerged orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata L.) inflorescences were cultured on Linsmaier and Skoog's RM medium supplemented with 0, 4.52×10-4, 4.52×10-3 and 2.26×10-2 mM 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) or naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA). Effects on shoot formation were better with 2,4-D than NAA in all concentrations tested. The callus initiated from the primary culture on high 2,4-D medium was reproducible, but no evidence of shoot proliferation was noted. Our aim was to determine the effects of two secondary metabolites secreted by Trichoderma harzianum, pachybasin and emodin, on the mycoparasitic coiling behavior and cAMP content of T. harzianum. The number of T. harzianum coils around Nylon 66 fiber was increased in the presence of R. solani. The number of T. harzianum coils around R. solani hyphae and Nylon 66 fiber were significantly increased in the presence of pachybasin and emodin. The cAMP level in T. harzianum was significantly increased by close contact with R. solani and much higer cAMP level in the presence of exogenous pachybasin and emodin. A cAMP inhibitor diminished the effect of pachybasin and emodin on T. harzianum coiling around Nylon 66 fiber. The results suggest that pachybasin and emodin mediate the increase in the number of Trichoderma mycoparasitic coils via cAMP signaling. This is the first report to suggest that pachybasin and emodin play roles in the biocontrol mechanism of Trichoderma. 相似文献

A micellar electrokinetic capillary chromatographic method (MEKC) was used to determine validamycin A content in commercial products. The results indicated that this method was capable of analyzing the validamycin A content in formulated products with an instrument detection limit of 0.94 microg/mL and a method detection limit of 1. 70 microg/mL. Relative standard deviation (RSD) values of MEKC determination of validamycin A in formulated products ranged from 0. 61 to 2.09%. Recoveries of validamycin A in formulated products were in the region of 99.5-105.1%. All commercial products collected from markets contained validamycin A. The high percentage of recovery, the low detection limit, and the low RSD values confirmed that the MEKC technique is a senstivie and selective method. 相似文献

Studies of active galactic nuclei constitute one of the major efforts in astronomy. Massive black holes are the most likely source for the enormous energy radiated from such nuclei. Observations reviewed here suggest unusual activity and the possible existence of a massive black hole in the nucleus of our galaxy. Because of its proximity to Earth, our galactic nucleus can be observed in unsurpassed detail and may serve as the Rosetta stone both for deciphering active galactic nuclei and for confirming the existence of a massive black hole. 相似文献

Managing fisheries resources to maintain healthy ecosystems is one of the main goals of the ecosystem approach to fisheries (EAF). While a number of international treaties call for the implementation of EAF, there are still gaps in the underlying methodology. One aspect that has received substantial scientific attention recently is fisheries‐induced evolution (FIE). Increasing evidence indicates that intensive fishing has the potential to exert strong directional selection on life‐history traits, behaviour, physiology, and morphology of exploited fish. Of particular concern is that reversing evolutionary responses to fishing can be much more difficult than reversing demographic or phenotypically plastic responses. Furthermore, like climate change, multiple agents cause FIE, with effects accumulating over time. Consequently, FIE may alter the utility derived from fish stocks, which in turn can modify the monetary value living aquatic resources provide to society. Quantifying and predicting the evolutionary effects of fishing is therefore important for both ecological and economic reasons. An important reason this is not happening is the lack of an appropriate assessment framework. We therefore describe the evolutionary impact assessment (EvoIA) as a structured approach for assessing the evolutionary consequences of fishing and evaluating the predicted evolutionary outcomes of alternative management options. EvoIA can contribute to EAF by clarifying how evolution may alter stock properties and ecological relations, support the precautionary approach to fisheries management by addressing a previously overlooked source of uncertainty and risk, and thus contribute to sustainable fisheries. 相似文献

The Asian green mussel, Perna viridis, has been widely cultured in Southeast Asia as delicious seafood depending on natural spat. We analyzed the genetic diversity and population structure of three populations (two from Singapore and one from Malaysia) from natural habitats and two from Singapore farms, by genotyping a total of 262 adult individuals using nine polymorphic microsatellites. In all five populations, high allelic (number of alleles A = 11.0–14.4,allelic richness Ar = 10.4–13.9) and gene diversity (expected heterozygosity He = 0.73–0.77) were observed, whereas deficiency of heterozygosity (inbreeding index f = 0.08–0.12) was detected in all populations. Genetic differentiation among populations was low (pairwise fixation index ranged from 0.003 to 0.088), but statistically significant. The usefulness of the information about genetic variations for genetic resource management of the populations in wild habitats and farms to keep genetic variation and setting up a breeding program of Asian green mussel was discussed. 相似文献

In late December 1990, a new radio source appeared near the center of our galaxy rivaling the intensity of Sgr A(*) (the compact radio source at the galactic center). Following its first detection, the flux density of the galactic center transient (GCT) increased rapidly to a maximum 1 month later, and then declined gradually with a time scale of about 3 months. Surprisingly, the GCT maintained a steep radio spectrum during both its rising and decay phases. The neutral hydrogen (HI) absorption shows similar absorption to that in front of Sgr A(*); this indicates that the GCT lies near the galactic center. Furthermore, both HI and OH observations show an additional deep absorption at +20 kilometers per second with respect to the local standard of rest. Thus, the GCT is either embedded in or located behind a molecular cloud moving with that velocity. The cloud can be seen on infrared images. Its opacity is shown to be inadequate to conceal a supernova near the galactic center. It is argued that the GCT was probably transient radio emission from synchrotron-radiating plasma associated with an x-ray binary system. 相似文献
