The aim of the study was to assess the ability of a dynamic in vitro model to determine the digestibility of OM, CP, and starch compared with a validated, static, in vitro method and in vivo ileal digestibility obtained from growing pigs fitted with a T-cannula. Five experimental diets with different carbohydrate types and level were assessed: a standard corn-based diet (ST) or the same diet with coarse ground corn (CC), 8% sugar beet pulp (BP), 10% wheat bran (WB), or 8% sugar beet pulp and 10% wheat bran (HF). In the in vivo experiment, diets CC and HF reduced (P = 0.015) ileal digestibility of OM compared with the ST diet. The inclusion of sugar beet pulp reduced (P = 0.049) ileal CP digestibility of the BP diet. This reduction was not statistically significant when sugar beet pulp was combined with the wheat bran in the HF diet. No differences were shown for in vivo starch digestibility among diets. With the static in vitro method, the OM disappearance was greater than that observed in the in vivo experiment. In this static method, the BP and HF diets reduced (P = 0.004 and < 0.001, respectively) the disappearance of the OM compared with the ST diet. The coarse grinding of corn did not alter OM digestibility but decreased (P = 0.005) the starch digestibility. The R(2) between the in vivo results and the static in vitro methods for OM and starch digestibility was 0.99 when the CC diet was not considered. The dynamic in vitro model yielded OM and CP digestibility coefficients comparable with those obtained in vivo for the ST and CC diets. However, the values were considerably affected by the incorporation of the fibrous ingredients. Diets BP, WB, and HF had decreased (P = 0.009, 0.058, and 0.004, respectively) OM digestibility compared with the ST diet. Protein digestibility was also decreased (P < 0.001, P = 0.019, and P = 0.003, respectively) with the BP, WB, and HF diets compared with the ST diet. However, digestibility was decreased to a greater extent in the BP diet than in the WB and HF diets, both of which contained wheat bran. The R(2) between the dynamic in vitro model and the in vivo results for CP digestibility was 0.99 when the CC diet was not considered. No differences were detected for starch digestibility among the diets with the dynamic in vitro model. This dynamic in vitro model yielded ileal digestibility results comparable with those obtained in vivo for CP and OM with a corn-soybean diet, or with a diet including coarse corn, but it underestimated digestibility when fibrous ingredients were included in the diet.  相似文献

The formation of aluminium‐substituted iron‐minerals is still subject to debate. We report a case study in a Humic Gleysol soil profile, developed on a sedimentary saprolite, from a basin floor on the Uberaba Plateau (Minas Gerais State, Brazil) where iron‐phases are crystallized by a ferruginization process. The mineralogical and chemical properties were investigated by X‐ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry and Mössbauer spectroscopy. The specific surface area (BET method) and cation exchange capacity (CEC) were also determined. The soil profile is mainly composed of gibbsite, kaolinite and amorphous alumino‐silicate phases, the latter being more frequent in the H horizon where the organic carbon content is greater. The surface area and CEC values are also greater in the H horizon (58.6 m2g−1 and 4.65 molckg−1, respectively) which indicates an increase in porosity caused by the presence of 20.8% of organic matter and amorphous materials. Goethite occurs as a secondary mineral in the H horizon and as the main mineral in the duricrust in association with haematite. The omnipresence of aluminium in the environment (24.6–46.2% of Al2O3) resulted in Al‐substitution in all iron‐bearing phases but the goethite from the H horizon has the greatest Al‐for‐Fe substitution, with at least 20 mole per cent of aluminium. In spite of the greater microporosity and wetness of the H horizon, the immediate contact with the richest Al‐source (gibbsite) favours the precipitation of unusually greatly Al‐substituted goethite instead of haematite in this horizon.  相似文献

The release of isoamyl acetate from starch-based matrices was studied on the basis of a cumulative dynamic headspace analysis. Two corn starches were compared, which are known to yield pastes and gels differing in their structures and properties. These properties were assessed by viscometry and viscoelastic measurements. Aroma release was discussed as a function of the structure and texture parameters of the matrix.The release curves obtained from water and from the various starch-based matrices at 25 degrees C showed similar patterns but differed in their initial slopes and in the final plateau values. The lowest initial slopes were obtained for the normal starch dispersions that formed gels due to amylose gelation. The aroma compound was entirely released from water and from the waxy starch pastes. A significant amount of isoamyl acetate remained trapped in the normal starch dispersions.  相似文献

Two lactone compounds have been isolated from the leaves and branches of ylang-ylang (Cananga odorata forma genuina Hook. f. et Thomson, Annonaceae). One was already known as isosiphonodin 1. The other, canangone 2, is a new terpenoid spirolactone with an unusual backbone. Its structure has been established as 6-hydroxy-1-oxo-2-oxaspiro[4.5]dec-7-ene-8-carbaldehyde by using 1-D and 2-D NMR.  相似文献

UItrathin amorphous coatings have been observed by high-voltage electron microscopy on micrometer-sized dust grains from the Apollo 11, Apollo 12, Apollo 14, and Luna 16 missions. Calibration experiments show that these coatings result from an "ancient" implantation of solar wind ions in the grains. This phenomenon has interdisciplinary applications concerning the past activity of the sun, the lunar albedo, the ancient lunar atmosphere and magnetic field, the carbon content of lunar soils, and lunar dynamic processes.  相似文献

Following the discovery of the first living polypterid, Polypterus bichir, in 1802, almost two centuries later we now know of 15 living species (including four subspecies), 14 belonging to the genus Polypterus and one to the genus Erpetoichthys (Calamoichthys) all inhabiting intertropical Africa. The polypterid fossil record was for a long time reduced to some scarce, disarticulated bones, mainly scales, found in various African deposits covering a wider area than the actual geographical distribution. With the discovery, on one hand, of polypterid scales, vertebrae, dermal bones of the cranium and dorsal spiny rays in South America and, on the other hand, of scales and numerous dorsal spiny rays in Niger and Sudan, and two articulated fossils in Morocco, the story of the polypteriforms has revealed some of its mysteries. The discovery of isopedine between dentine and bony basal plate in the scales of living and fossil polypterid species is considered a synapomorphy of the group, and has been an important aid in discriminating polypterid scales from other ganoid scales. A review of the main findings during the last 20 years is presented.  相似文献

Dolphinfish (Coryphaena hippurus) samples were collected over four consecutive years from four locations in the eastern central Pacific to evaluate the genetic variation in a 751 bp segment of the mitochondrial NADH subunit 1 (ND1) to test for the presence of genetic population structure. Sequence analyses revealed no significant differences among collections from the same location in the different years sampled nor between locations. Mismatch distributions, estimations of population expansion parameters, and neutrality tests revealed significant fluctuations in population size in coincidence with past glacial and interglacial periods during the late Pleistocene. The low levels of nucleotide diversities and shallow coalescence of mtDNA genealogies observed were coincident with the estimated demographic parameters and neutrality tests, in suggesting the presence of important past population size fluctuations or range expansion. The prevention of the accumulation of deep lineages independently on how it was originated, probably delayed the emergence of a population divergence process which might account for the lack of genetic differences detected.  相似文献

Multiresistance is a critical issue. This study points out the usefulness of cluster analysis techniques to describe concisely the antimicrobial susceptibility patterns of bacterial isolates in a way that could effectively help in generating hypotheses on multiresistance mechanisms. Data were selected from the French antimicrobial resistance survey network on veterinary pathogens (Resapath). They were related to 1545 Escherichia coli isolates, which were isolated from faecal samples of diarrhoeic calves in France between 2002 and 2006. Ten clusters of isolates displaying similar features in terms of resistance profile to 13 relevant antimicrobials were computed. The presence of two to ten simultaneous resistances was detected in nine out of the ten clusters. Looking at potential mechanistic interpretations, results may suggest genetic links between some resistance mechanisms, but this should be confirmed by molecular investigation of the corresponding isolates. Looking at therapeutical potential implications, the high level of resistance and multiresistance to several antimicrobials observed in E. coli makes a critical reassessment of empiric oral antimicrobial therapy in calves highly desirable.  相似文献

The spontaneous fracture of polymer gels was studied. Contrary to crystalline solids, where fracture usually happens instantaneously at a well-defined breaking strength, the fracture of a polymer gel can occur with a delay. When a constant force was applied, the cracks nucleated and started to propagate after a delay that can be as long as 15 minutes, depending on the force. This phenomenon can be understood by calculating the activation energy for crack nucleation in arbitrary dimension and accounting for the inhomogeneity of the gel network in terms of its fractal dimension.  相似文献
