Biofertilizer research for rice in Vietnam has focused on the isolation and selection of strains that can fix nitrogen, solubilize inorganic phosphates, stimulate plant growth, and breakdown soil organic matter. This paper assesses the consistent positive effect of BioGro on grain yield and agronomic parameters, including the rates and times for its application, the need for continued inoculation of crops grown in the same site, varietal differences, and nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) combinations on the effectiveness of BioGro. The commercial biofertilizer, BioGro, consists of four strains, one formerly considered as nitrogen fixing, Pseudomonas fluorescens, a soil yeast strain, Candida tropicalis is P-solubilizing, and two other bacilli, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens and Bacillus subtilis, potentially breaking down cellulose, protein, and starch. All four strains contribute to plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) effect as shown by enhanced root growth. BioGro can be produced in local factories providing there is technical backup in the supply of starter culture and quality control of the final product. 相似文献

In the context of widespread saline and sodic soil, mapping and monitoring spatial distribution of soil salinity and sodicity are important for utilization and management in agriculture lands. In this study, two-stage assessment was proposed to predict spatial distribution of saline and sodic soils. First, artificial neural network (ANN) and multiple linear regressions (MLR) model were used to predict sodium adsorption ratio (SAR) and exchangeable sodium percentage (ESP) based on soil electrical conductivity (EC) and pH. Then, the Kriging interpolation method combined with overlay mapping technique was used to perform saline spatial predictions in the study area. The model accuracy level is evaluated based on coefficient of determination (R2) and root mean square error (RMSE). In the first stage, the values of R2 and RMSE of SAR and ESP were 0.94, 0.17 and 0.94, 0.24 for ANN, and 0.35, 0.52 and 0.34, 0.76 for MLR, respectively. Similarly, in the second stage, the RMSE of ANN-Kriging were much closer to 0 and relatively lower than MLR-Kriging and Kriging. The results show that ANN-Kriging can be used to improve the accuracy of mapping and monitoring spatial distribution of saline and sodic soil in areas that develop the rice-shrimp cultivation model. 相似文献

Bacterial leaf blight of rice (BLB), caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae, is one of the most destructive diseases in Asian rice fields. A high-quality rice variety, LT2, was used as the recipient parent. IRBB21, which carries the Xa21 gene, was used as the donor parent. The resistance gene Xa21 was introduced into LT2 by marker-assisted backcrossing. Three Xoo races were used to inoculate the improved lines following the clipping method. Eleven BC3F3 lines carrying Xa21 were obtained based on molecular markers and agronomic performance. The 11 lines were then inoculated with the three Xoo races. All the 11 improved lines showed better resistance to BLB than the recipient parent LT2. Based on the level of resistance to BLB and their agronomic performance, five lines (BC3F3 5.1.5.1, BC3F3 5.1.5.12, BC3F3 8.5.6.44, BC3F3 9.5.4.1 and BC3F3 9.5.4.23) were selected as the most promising for commercial release. An 11‐wk feeding trial was conducted to evaluate three different protein hydrolysates as feed ingredients in high‐plant‐protein diets for juvenile olive flounder. Five experimental diets were fed to juvenile olive flounder to examine the effect of three different protein hydrolysates on growth performance, innate immunity, and disease resistance against bacterial infection. A basal fishmeal (FM)‐based diet was regarded as a high‐FM diet (HFM) and a diet containing soy protein concentrate (SPC) as a substitute for 50% FM protein was considered as a low‐FM diet (LFM). Three other diets contained three different sources of protein hydrolysates, including shrimp, tilapia, and krill hydrolysates (designated as SH, TH, and KH), replacing 12% of FM protein. All diets were formulated to be isonitrogenous and isocaloric. Triplicate groups of fish (15.1 ± 0.1 g) were handfed one of the diets to apparent satiation twice daily for 11 wk and subsequently challenged against Edwardsiella tarda. Growth performance and feed utilization of fish fed hydrolysate‐supplemented diets were significantly improved compared to those of fish fed the LFM diet. Dietary inclusion of the protein hydrolysates significantly enhanced apparent digestibility of dry matter and protein of the diets. In the proximal intestine, histological alterations were observed in the fish fed the LFM diet. The fish fed the hydrolysate diets showed significantly longer mucosal fold and enterocytes and greater number of goblet cells compared to fish fed the LFM diet. Respiratory burst activity was significantly higher in fish fed the TH and KH diets than fish fed the LFM diet. Significantly higher immunoglobulin levels were found in fish fed SH and KH diets compared to those of fish fed the LFM diet. Dietary inclusion of the protein hydrolysates in SPC‐based diets exhibited the highest lysozyme activity. Significantly higher superoxide activity was observed in groups of fish fed the KH diet. Fish offered the protein hydrolysates were more resistant to bacterial infection caused by E. tarda. The results of this study suggest that the tested protein hydrolysates can be used as potential dietary supplements to improve growth performance and health status of juvenile olive flounder when they were fed a LFM diet. 相似文献

under laboratory conditions. MPLs were constructed using soil collected from Field Museum Honmachi of Tokyo University of
Agriculture and Technology, Japan. For the physical characteristics of the hardpan layer, parameters such as thickness, and
soil aggregate size, affecting the percolation rate were studied. For the plow layer, two types of plow soils, sieved and
un-sieved soils were compared. The sieved soil plow layer was produced by mixing air-dried soils of different aggregate sizes
of D > 9.50, 9.50 ≥ D > 4.75, 4.75 ≥ D > 2.0 mm and D ≤ 2.0 mm at 47.1, 19.5, 20.6, and 12.8%, respectively. The un-sieved plow layer soil was directly used after collecting from
the field. Inert tracer was applied to ponding water with controlled boundary conditions to evaluate the reproducibility of
the soil hydraulic characteristics. HYDRUS-1D was used to evaluate the movement of bromide tracer in the MPL. The proposed
conditions of the MPL were that the hardpan layer can be made from soil aggregates smaller than 0.425 mm with 2 cm thickness
and that the plow layer can be prepared with sieved or un-sieved soils. With these conditions, the obtained results proved

Clostridium perfringens is ubiquitous in the environment and the intestinal tracts of most mammals, but this organism also causes gas gangrene and enteritis in human and animal hosts. While expression of specific toxins correlates with specific disease in certain hosts, the other factors involved in commensalism and host pathogenesis have not been clearly identified. A multilocus sequence typing (MLST) scheme was developed for C. perfringens with the aim of grouping isolates with respect to disease presentation and/or host preference. Sequence data were obtained from one virulence and seven housekeeping genes for 132 C. perfringens isolates that comprised all five toxin types and were isolated from 10 host species. Eighty sequence types (STs) were identified, with the majority (75%) containing only one isolate. eBURST analysis identified three clonal complexes, which contained 59.1% of the isolates. Clonal complex (CC) 1 contained 31, predominantly type A isolates from diverse host species. Clonal complex 2 contained 75% of the bovine type E isolates examined in this study. Clonal complex 3 consisted predominantly of porcine type A and type C isolates. Interestingly, these porcine isolates (n=32) all carried consensus cpb2 and cna genes, encoding beta2 toxin and CpCna, a collagen binding protein, respectively. This compares to carriage of both these genes by only 3.6% of porcine isolates not present in clonal complex 3 (n=28). The data obtained indicates that MLST may be used to identify host species relationships with respect to these C. perfringens isolates. 相似文献

In the soudano–sahelian zone of Burkina Faso, the short-term fallow effect on the soil chemical and microbial properties was
evaluated. In four farm experiments, two types of fallows were compared with cultivated fields: a natural vegetation fallow
and a fallow enriched with Andropogon gayanus. After 5 to 7 years of experiments, soil chemical and microbial characteristics were determined in laboratory for 0–10 cm
soil depth. Soil organic carbon (+64%), nitrogen (+35%), microbial biomass (+76%), basal respiration (+141%), and β-glucosidase
activity (+86%) were significantly higher in fallows plots than in cultivated fields. The metabolic quotient was not significantly
different on fallows compared to the cropped plots. Also, no significant difference was highlighted between natural vegetation

Different substrates were evaluated to investigate their effect on nitrate removal and denitrifying bacterial community in soils obtained from wetland. Serial batch kinetic tests were conducted on soils obtained from wetland mixed with glucose and sawdust using KNO3 solution. Column tests were also conducted on soils obtained from wetland mixed with three different substrates (glucose, sawdust, and scoria coated with zero-valent iron) using KNO3 solution. For the batch tests, the nitrate removal efficiency for soil mixed with glucose was comparable to that for soil mixed with sawdust, but the nitrate removal rate for soil mixed with glucose (23.3 NO 3 ? -N mg/L-d) was approximately eight times higher than that for soil mixed with sawdust (2.8 NO 3 ? -N mg/L-d). For column tests among soil samples, nitrate removal efficiency was highest in soil mixed with glucose, which is an easily biodegradable carbon source. Removal efficiency increased with increasing incubation time for both soil samples with glucose and sawdust. A phylogenetic analysis based on nitrate reductase gene demonstrated that the different carbon sources affected both the diversity and compositions of the denitrifying bacterial in soil samples. 相似文献
