Benthic community changes associated with intertidal oyster cultivation   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
A study of the environmental effects associated with the trestle cultivation of Pacific oysters, Crassostrea gigas Thunberg, was conducted at a commercial cultivation site in the River Exe estuary, Devon, England. Small, but significant, changes were detected in the macrofaunal community sampled beneath oyster trestles compared with that found in adjacent uncultivated areas. These changes were associated with an increase in organic and silt composition and a reduction in the depth of the oxygenated layer of the sediment beneath the trestles. Water velocity was decreased by the presence of the trestles which probably led to the increase in sedimentation rate observed beneath them. Although biological and physical changes were observed, they were relatively minor compared with the extreme environmental changes associated with the suspended culture techniques used for other bivalve species and fishes. However, other studies suggest that the environmental effects associated with oyster cultivation become more severe in areas of large-scale (hectares) cultivation.  相似文献

This study aimed to reveal differences in the relevance of particulate as well as water-soluble organic matter (OM) fractions from topsoils to the easily biodegradable soil organic matter (SOM). We selected eight paired sites with quite different soil types and soil properties. For each of these sites, we took samples from adjacent arable and forest topsoils. Physically uncomplexed, macro-, and micro-aggregate-occluded organic particle, as well as water-soluble OM fractions were sequentially separated by a combination of electrostatic attraction, ultrasonic treatment, density separation, sieving, and water extraction. The easily biodegradable SOM of the topsoil samples was determined by measuring microbial respiration during a short-term incubation experiment (OCR). The organic carbon (OC) contents separated by i) the physically uncomplexed water-soluble OM, ii) the macro-, and iii) the micro-aggregate-occluded organic particle as well as water-soluble OM fractions were significantly correlated with OCR. The correlation coefficients vary between 0.54 and 0.65 suggesting differences in the relevance of these OM fractions to the easily biodegradable SOM. The strongest correlation to OCR was detected for the OC content separated by the physically uncomplexed water-soluble OM indicating the most distinct relation to the easily biodegradable SOM. This was found to be independent from land use or soil properties.  相似文献

The phospholipid fatty acid biomarkers 18:1ω9, 18:2ω6,9 and 18:3ω3,6,9 are commonly used as fungal biomarkers in soils. They have, however, also been found to occur in plant tissues, such as roots. Thus, the use of these PLFAs as fungal biomarkers in sieved soil, which may still contain small remains of roots, has been questioned. We used data from a recent beech tree girdling experiment to calculate the contribution of roots to these biomarkers and were able to demonstrate that not more than 0.61% of 18:1ω9 and 18:2ω6,9 in sieved soil samples originated from roots (but 4% of 18:3ω3,6,9). Additionally, the abundance of the biomarker 18:2ω6,9 in the soil was found to be highly correlated to ectomycorrhizal root colonization, which further corroborates its fungal origin. PLFA biomarkers were substantially reduced in vital roots from girdled trees compared to roots of control trees (by up to 76%), indicating that the major part of PLFAs measured in roots may actually originate from ectomycorrhizal fungi growing inside the roots. We calculated, that even a near to 50% reduction in fine root biomass - as observed in the girdling treatment - accounted for only 0.8% of the measured decrease of 18:2ω6,9. Our results demonstrate that both 18:1ω9 and 18:2ω6,9 are suitable biomarkers for detecting fungal dynamics in soils and that especially 18:2ω6,9 is a reliable biomarker to study mycorrhizal dynamics in beech forests.  相似文献

Une étude est mise en place dans un groupe de 16 élevages intensifs venant de connaitre une attaque grippale et pratiquant à la fois le naissage et l'engraissement dans la région de Bretagne (France). L'objet de cette étude est de mettre en évidence une activité du virus grippal au sein des élevages en dehors des vagues épidémiques. Dans chaque élevage, 2 lots de porcelets sont individuellement suivis depuis la phase d'allaitement jusqu'à l'abattage. Des contrôles sérologiques mensuels sont pratiqués en vue de suivre l'évolution des anticorps grippaux ainsi que ceux de la maladie d'Aujeszky. En outre des écouvillonnages nasaux et des prélèvements de poumons sont réalisés en vue de recherches virales. Ces travaux sont accompagnés par la collecte de renseignements épidémiologiques dans chacun des élevages. Les anticorps grippaux d'origine colostrale inhibant l'hémagglutination décroissent assez rapidement chez le porcelet. Par la suite une conversion sérologique est observée sur près de 10% des animaux suivis. Les animaux concernés appartiennent à 4 des 16 élevages. La séroconversion intervient généralement après 3 mois d'âge. Aucun isolement viral n'a pu être réalisé. Certaines conditions semblent associées à la persistance d'une activité virale comme la démographie déséquilibrée du troupeau de truies, la conduite en continu de la porcherie d'engraissement, la préexistence d'une pathologie respiratoire sévère. Une séroconversion Aujeszky est également observée dans 3 des 4 élevages concernés par l'activité du virus grippal.  相似文献

This study analyzed the plasma lipid profile, glucose levels and fat deposits in male rats treated with aqueous extract of gross yerba mate, commercial yerba mate or water. Yerba mate treatment did not change body weight gain and lipid profile. The consumption of gross yerba mate significantly increased blood glucose (6.6 mmol/L) as compared to the water (4.8 mmol/L) and commercial group (5.2 mmol/L) and decreased epididymal and intra-abdominal deposits (10.1 mg/g and 23.7 mg/g of weight) as compared to the water (15.4 mg/g and 36.9 mg/g of weight) and commercial group (12.5 mg/g and 28 mg/g of weight). The results suggest that gross yerba mate reduces fat more efficiently but produces a greater increase in blood glucose when compared to commercial yerba mate and water groups.  相似文献

The chemical composition of waste-material-derived dissolved organic matter (DOM) was characterized by chemolytic analyses and 1H, 13C and 31P nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Dissolved organic matter was extracted by water from an aerobic fermented urban waste compost, a sewage sludge and a pig slurry and then fractionated using the XAD-8 method. The amount of water-extractable dissolved organic carbon (DOC) ranged from 3% in the sewage sludge to 22% in the pig slurry. Dissolved organic matter isolated from pig slurry was equally distributed between hydrophilic and hydrophobic DOC, whereas in the sewage-sludge-derived material the hydrophobic fraction was predominant. Dissolved organic C from the urban waste compost was mainly within the hydrophilic fraction. Wet-chemical analysis and 1H- and 13C-NMR spectra showed that both DOM fractions from the urban waste compost were low in neutral, acidic and amino sugars as well as in lignin-derived compounds. In turn, the materials were rich in low-molecular-weight aliphatic compounds. The chemical structure of both fractions is probably the result of the intensive transformation of urban waste compost during its fermentation. The hydrophilic fractions of DOM from sewage sludge and pig slurry contained considerable amounts of carbohydrates but were also rich in low-molecular-weight aliphatics. The respective hydrophobic fractions had the largest contents of CuO-extractable phenols which may in part derive from sources other than lignin. By contrast with the other materials, the hydrophobic fraction from the pig slurry seemed to contain polymeric rather than low-molecular-weight material. The 31P-NMR spectrum of the hydrophilic DOM fraction from urban waste compost did not show signals of inorganic or organic P compounds while the spectrum of the hydrophobic fraction revealed traces of monoester P, diester P, and orthophosphate. 31P-NMR spectroscopy suggested that both the hydrophobic and hydrophilic fractions from pig slurry did not contain organic P. The hydrophilic DOM fraction from sewage sludge contained orthophosphate, organic monoester P and a little pyrophosphate. The hydrophobic fraction contained mainly organic diester P and smaller amounts of teichoic acids and organic monoester P. Considering that water-soluble fractions of urban waste compost contained no easily plant-available P and a low content of labile organics, we conclude that this material contains less labile nutrients and is more refractory than the soluble constituents of pig slurry and sewage sludge.  相似文献

This study tested the hypothesis that, like dissolved organic nitrogen (N), dissolved organic phosphorus (P) and sulphur (S) are more mobile in soil than is organic carbon (C). To do so, I compared the sorption of organic P and S to subsoil materials with that of organic C. Soil samples were equilibrated with water‐soluble organic matter from the forest floor at pH 4 and in the equilibrium solutions organic C, P, and S, and their distributions between the hydrophilic and hydrophobic fraction were determined. Sorption of C within the organic matter did not differ from that of P and S. However, the hydrophilic fraction contained the vast majority of P and S and sorbed far less than the hydrophobic fraction. So the overall retention of organic P and S was smaller than that of organic C. This result suggested that dissolved organic matter is more important in the loss of plant nutrients than in the release of C from soil.  相似文献

N20 emissions and denitrification N-losses. precipitation, air temperature, soil moisture, bulk density and content of mineral N were monitored in 9 different agricultural soils in 6 European countries throughout the vegetation period (April to September) 1992 and 1993. N2O emissions and denitrification N-losses were log-normal distributed, reflecting high temporal changes. While small flux rates (< 2 g N ha?1 d?1) were detectable every day, high rates (> 10 g N ha?1 d?1) were measured after fertilization. An attempt to relate the emission variables to climate and soil variables was made through the use of correlation analysis. The mean N20 emissions from soil were significantly correlated with the soil properties clay, organic C and mineral N content and the amount of applied mineral N fertilizer. The best prediction of the N2O emission rates (r2 = 0.734) was achieved by multiple linear regression using the soil parameter clay and mineral N. Only 50% of the observed variation could be explained by the factors Corg and mineral N, which describe the substrate availability for microbial processes. No successful statistical model was found for the prediction of denitrification N-losses.  相似文献
