To assess the impact of acute caloric shortage on reproduction, rabbit does were either fed ad libitum (control, AL), or fasted for 24 (STF) or 48 h (LTF) before induction of ovulation with GnRH injection. Blood samples were collected during the last 3 h of fasting, and the following 4 h after GnRH injection, when feed was provided again, to measure plasma concentrations of LH, estradiol-17beta, leptin, insulin, T3, corticosterone, glucose, and NEFA. Before re-feeding, plasma leptin, insulin, and T3 concentrations were lower (P < or = 0.01) in both fasted groups than in controls, but then gradually increased following realimentation to match those of controls. During fasting, corticosterone levels were higher (P < or = 0.01) in LTF than in STF and AL does, but decreased to control values soon after realimentation. During fasting, plasma glucose concentrations did not differ among groups, but upon re-feeding they markedly increased (P < or= 0.01) both in STF and LTF does. NEFA levels were also more elevated (P < or = 0.01) in fasted rabbits than in controls, and rapidly decreased (P < or = 0.01) after re-feeding. Following GnRH injection, LH peak was lower (P < or = 0.01) in LTF than in AL and STF does. Estradiol-17beta showed higher pulse frequency and amplitude in AL than in STF and LTF does. Compared to controls, receptivity rate of STF and LTF artificially inseminated does declined respectively by -20.5% (P < or = 0.05) and -22.7%, and fertility rate by -23.9% (P < or = 0.05) and 21.4%, but no difference was found in ovulation rate. In summary, nutritional status of does, as modified by fasting, greatly influenced fertility, metabolic and reproductive hormones. 相似文献
The local and systemic immune response to a formolized E. coli oral vaccine was investigated in 13 gnotobiotic piglets. Beginning at ten days of age animals received a daily dose of 1010 or 1011 bacteria, on ten consecutive days. Intestinal loop tests with one animal of each group on day 26 showed protection which was more pronounced in the animal dosed 1010 bacteria compared with the other immunized piglet. Immunoglobulin class-specific antibodies to O and K antigens were determined by ELISA technique. In serum no IgG or IgA antibodies were found, whereas IgM-anti O149 antibodies in both immunized groups reached their highest level at day 4 of dosing and decreased thereafter. IgM-anti K88 antibodies were first detected at day 10 of dosing. Both immunized groups had comparable serum levels at days 20 and 30. Also in gut secretion the IgM antibody response was predominant, and higher levels were found in the 1010 group than in the 1011 group. IgG and IgA antibody response were also detected in secretion. 相似文献
Biological control of phytopathogenic fungi using antagonistic microorganisms is an environmentally friendly alternative in plant protection. However, possible non-target effects of the applied antagonists on ecologically important soil-microbes need to be considered. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyse the effect of biological control agents (BCAs) on non-target microbes in the field. Whereas the bacterial BCAs Serratia plymuthica HRO-C48 and Streptomyces sp. HRO-71 were applied to control the pathogen Verticillium dahliae on strawberry and potato, the bacterial strains Pseudomonas trivialis 3Re2-7, P. fluorescens L13-6-12, S. plymuthica 3Re4-18 and the fungal antagonists Trichoderma reesei G1/8 and T. viride G3/2 were introduced to control Rhizoctonia solani on lettuce and potato. As the analysed BCAs belong to different microbial groups like grampositive (HRO-71) and gramnegative (HRO-C48, L13-6-12, 3Re2-7, 3Re4-18) bacteria or the ascomycota (G1/8, G3/2) and originated from different micro-habitats like the rhizosphere or the endorhiza, general conclusion could be drawn from our results. After BCA treatment we did not observe any long-term effect on the plant-associated microbes in any tested pathosystem. Therefore, no sustainable risks could be seen for the indigenous micro-organisms. Our new findings may help to improve the development as well as the registration procedures of future microbial plant protection products. 相似文献
With rise of the European corn borer (Ostrinia nubilalis Hbn.) in the Oderbruch area in the 1990s the necessity of an effective control of this particular pest in the agricultural field became even more important. Since 1997 experiments on controlling the increase of the European corn borer by using insecticides took place in the Oderbruch area. Between 2000–2002 different control methods (Insecticide use, Trichogramma use, Bt-corn use) were tested referring to the local conditions in the Oderbruch area. By cultivating Bt-corn types highest efficiency rates against European corn borer could be detected. Employed insecticides reached out to efficiency rates ranging from 60% to 90%. The application of Trichogramma under local conditions in the Oderbruch area was not satisfying at all. Since 2003 insecticides of different groups of active agents were examined concerning their biological effect. That is because of insufficient permission status (indication for European corn borer) and development of anti-resistant strategies. This knowledge is a necessary requirement for permission of insecticides to come. 相似文献
Plasmopara viticola is an economically important pathogen of grapevine. Early detection of P. viticola infection can lead to improved fungicide treatment. Our study aimed to determine whether chlorophyll fluorescence (Chl-F)
imaging can be used to reveal early stages of P. viticola infection under conditions similar to those occurring in commercial vineyards. Maximum (FV/FM) and effective quantum yield of photosystem II (ΦPSII) were identified as the most sensitive reporters of the infection. Heterogeneous distribution of FV/FM and ΦPSII in artificially inoculated leaves was associated with the presence of the developing mycelium 3 days before the occurrence
of visible symptoms and 5 days before the release of spores. Significant changes of FV/FM and ΦPSII were spatially coincident with localised spots of inoculation across the leaf lamina. Reduction of FV/FM was restricted to the leaf area that later yielded sporulation, while the area with significantly lower ΦPSII was larger and probably reflected the leaf parts in which photosynthesis was impaired. Our results indicate that Chl-F can
be used for the early detection of P. viticola infection. Because P. viticola does not expand systemically in the host tissues and the effects of infection are localised, Chl-F imaging at high resolution
is necessary to reveal the disease in the field. 相似文献
Legumes and particularly beans are a key food of Mediterranean diet representing an important source of proteins, fiber, some minerals and vitamins and bioactive compounds. We evaluated the antioxidant and anti-mutagenic effects of a new fermented powder of a selected lectin-free and phaseolamin-enriched variety of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), named Lady Joy. Lady Joy lysate (Lys LJ) was studied in human erythrocytes and in Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast cells. The antioxidant and anti-hemolytic properties of Lys LJ, studied in an ex vivo erythrocytes system using the cellular antioxidant assay (CAA-RBC) and the hemolysis test, evidenced a dose-dependent antioxidant activity as well as a significant hemolysis inhibition. Besides, results evidenced that Lys LJ treatment significantly decreased the intracellular ROS concentration and mutagenesis induced by hydrogen peroxide in S. cerevisiae D7 strain. In conclusion, Lys LJ showed both an antimutagenic effect in yeast and a strong scavenging activity in yeast and human cells.
