Blood culture is a diagnostic tool used in confirming bacterial disease in teleostean and elasmobranch fishes. Unlike teleosts, elasmobranchs have a normal microflora in multiple organs, but their blood has generally been considered to be sterile. In regular exams of elasmobranchs conducted at a public aquarium, occasional blood samples have tested positive on culture. This finding prompted a blood culture survey of healthy captive and wild elasmobranchs (sharks and stingrays), which showed that 26.7% of all animals were positive. Stingrays alone showed a 50% occurrence of positive blood cultures, although the total number of animals was low and freshwater species were included in this number. When elasmobranchs other than stingrays were evaluated according to metabolic category, pelagic animals had a higher percentage of positive cultures than nonpelagic animals (38.7% versus 13.9%). These results indicate that a single positive blood culture without other corroborating diagnostics is not sufficient to confirm septicemia in elasmobranchs. 相似文献

根据 42个样地的实地调查资料 ,采用不同的物种多样性指数、丰富度和均匀度测度指标对达日县建设乡高海拔地区高寒草甸的物种多样性进行了分析 ,结果表现为 :草地物种多样性随海拔的升高总体上呈现下降的趋势 ;“黑土滩”物种多样性指数、丰富度和均匀度指数最低 ,草地生物量也最低。苔草、嵩草和灌丛草甸 ,有着较高的物种多样性指数、丰富度和均匀度指数。单子叶和灌丛植物生物量随海拔梯度的变化较为复杂 ,在一定海拔范围内有较高的生物量。双子叶植物生物量随海拔的升高基本呈现下降趋势 相似文献

Translocation of Tasmanian devils (Sarcophilus harrisii) is a common strategy for recovery of the species as carried out by the Save the Tasmanian Devil Program. Dasyurids including the endangered Tasmanian devil are well known to asymptomatically harbour the zoonotic bacteria Salmonella enterica in their intestinal tracts. Testing for Salmonella is a routine component of pretranslocation health testing, so a statewide microbiological survey of captive and wild devils was implemented in order to understand prevalence and common Salmonella serotypes, and inform decision-making when positive cultures are identified. This preliminary study identified a significantly higher proportion of Salmonella isolations in wild compared with captive devils. Mississippi and Typhimurium were the most common serotypes, followed by Lexington, Bovismorbificans, Kottbus and Amsterdam. Given the common finding of Salmonella in wild devils and the range of serotypes involved, in addition to numerous isolations in domestic species and humans, it is unlikely that the release of small numbers of captive devils to the wild in Tasmania poses a significant risk to the destination ecosystem. Ongoing monitoring of devils is required as the stress of acclimatisation could predispose devils to clinical disease. Exosomes are bilayer-lipid membrane nanovesicle from almost all living cell types which are involved in intercellular substance transporting and signaling communication. Exosomes are 30~120 nm in diameter, can transfer bioactive molecules including DNA, RNA, microRNA, protein as well as lipids derived from parents' cells to recipient cells by body fluids, and specifically influence their physiological or pathological conditions. Leukemia is due to malignant proliferation of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells. It was reported that leukemia cells derived exosomes play a key role in disease progression, drug resistance, and predict prognosis. Right lateral, left lateral and ventrodorsal radiographs were obtained in 20 normal ferrets (11 male). Three independent observers recorded measurements of the cardiac silhouette and results for each parameter were averaged. Long axis (length), short axis (width) and total of length plus width (L+W) were recorded in each view. Comparative measurements were calculated, including the ratio of L+W/length of thoracic vertebrae 5-8, and a modified vertebral heart score (VHS) method, measuring the heart in vertebral units. Measurements made in ventrodorsal views were usually larger than corresponding measurements in lateral views. Weight and most absolute measurements differed significantly between male and female ferret (P<0.05), but the differences in absolute measurements were not apparent when related to measures of body size (Ratio and modified VHS methods). Given the variability in body weight and size in ferrets, measurements of the cardiac silhouette normalized for body size may be more universally applicable than absolute measurements. 相似文献
