Organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) were quantified by GC-ECD in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) during a vegetation period. Plants were harvested at 15, 60, and 151 days after seed germination. Leaves, stem, roots, and fruit (peel and flesh) were analyzed separately. The results showed that tomato plants were able to accumulate OCPs from soils, and a trend to reach the equilibrium among tissues at mature stages was also observed. Endosulfans comprised the main OCP group, probably due to its spray during summer months in the surrounding areas. Banned pesticides such as DDTs, heptachlor, and dieldrin were found. OCPs levels in the fruit were below the maximum residues limits (MRL) considered by the Codex Alimentarius. DDE/DDT and alpha-/gamma-HCH ratios of <1 would indicate recent inputs of DDT and lindane in the environment. The occurrence of OCPs in the study farm, where agrochemicals have never been used, is a result of atmospheric deposition of those pesticides. 相似文献

Two headspace techniques based on mass spectrometry detection (MS), electronic nose, and solid phase microextraction coupled to gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (SPME-GC/MS) were evaluated for their ability to differentiate various infant formula powders based on changes of their volatiles upon storage. The electronic nose gave unresolved MS fingerprints of the samples gas phases that were further submitted to principal component analysis (PCA). Such direct MS recording combined to multivariate treatment enabled a rapid differentiation of the infant formulas over a 4 week storage test. Although MS-based electronic nose advantages are its easy-to-use aspect and its meaningful data interpretation obtained with a high throughput (100 samples per 24 h), its greatest disadvantage is that the present compounds could not be identified and quantified. For these reasons, a SPME-GC/MS measurement was also investigated. This technique allowed the identification of saturated aldehydes as the main volatiles present in the headspace of infant milk powders. An isotope dilution assay was further developed to quantitate hexanal as a potential indicator of infant milk powder oxidation. Thus, hexanal content was found to vary from roughly 500 and 3500 microg/kg for relatively non-oxidized and oxidized infant formulas, respectively. 相似文献

[(2)H(10)]-4-Mercapto-4-methylpentan-2-one (d(10)-1), [(2)H(2)]-3-mercaptohexan-1-ol (d(2)-2), and [(2)H(5)]-3-mercaptohex-1-yl acetate (d(5)-3), deuterated analogues of impact odorants of wines, were used to determine quantitatively the natural compounds in white wines (Muscadet, Sauvignon, and Bacchus) with a stable isotope dilution assay using gas chromatography coupled either with ion trap tandem mass spectrometry (GC-ITMS-MS) or with atomic emission detection monitored on sulfur-selective acquisition (GC-AED). The thiol compounds were recovered from wines by liquid-liquid extraction, then purified from the wine extracts by covalent chromatography, and analyzed. The quantitative determination of 4-mercapto-4-methylpentan-2-one 1 in the wines that were analyzed was performed better with GC-AED than with GC-ITMS-MS under the conditions that were used. However, the detection limit of the method was higher than the odor threshold of 4-mercapto-4-methylpentan-2-one 1 in wine (5 vs 0.8 ng/L). The levels of this compound in the Sauvignon and Bacchus wines were much higher than its odor threshold, but it was not detectable in the Muscadet wines. On the contrary, GC-ITMS-MS was much more sensitive than GC-AED for detection of 3-mercaptohexan-1-ol 2 and 3-mercaptohex-1-yl acetate 3, and the detection limits were much lower than their odor thresholds in wine. The former compound was detected in all of the Muscadet wines that were analyzed at levels always higher than its odor detection threshold, while the latter occurred at levels higher than its odor threshold in only one Muscadet wine. 相似文献

This study was carried out to establish the changes in the free amino acid contents of floral honeys, honeydew honeys, and blend honeys during storage at room temperature and to test the capacity of the amino acids to distinguish the origin of the honeys after storage. For this purpose, 54 artisanal honeys (39 floral, 5 honeydew, and 10 blend) were studied. Samples were taken from recently collected honeys and at 3, 6, 9, 12, 16, 20, and 24 months after harvesting. The contents of most of the free amino acids were found to decrease with storage time, with the greatest reduction observed in the first 9 months. The contents of the amino acids aspartic acid, beta-alanine, and proline increased in the first few months after storage, reaching maximum values at 6 months, suggesting the possible existence of enzymatic activities. The application of stepwise discriminant analysis to the free amino acid content data demonstrated that the contents of the amino acids valine, beta-alanine, gamma-aminobutyric acid, serine, isoleucine, alpha-alanine, ornithine, and glutamine correctly assigned 87% of honeys to their group of origin: floral, honeydew, or blend. 相似文献

Summary The mission was carried out within the Mediterranean Programme of the IBPGR in April/May 1983 with participants from the Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya (Agricultural Research Centre, Tarabulus), the Istituto del Germoplasma, Bari, and the Zentralinstitut für Genetik und Kulturpflanzenforschung, Gatersleben. In Tripolitania, the Fezzan- and Ghadmis-areas 316 samples, mostly cereals and vegetables, have been collected. In Tripolitania and the Ghadmis-area the land-races have been nearly completely replaced by new varieties. In the Fezzan genetic erosion is in progress. There, several cereal- and vegetable-land-races could still be collected. The land-races may be useful for breeding programmes.

Zusammenfassung Die Reise erfolgte im Rahmen des Mediterranean Programme des IBPGR im April/Mai 1983 mit Teilnehmern aus der Sozialistischen Libyschen Arabischen Volksjamahiriya (Agricultural Research Centre, Tarbulus), des Istituto del Germoplasma, Bari, und des Zentralinstituts für Genetik und Kulturpflanzenforschung, Gatersleben. In Tripolitanien, dem Fezzan und dem Gebiet von Ghadmis wurden 316 Proben, meist von Getrieden und Gemüsen, gesammelt. In Tripolitanien und dem Gebiet von Ghadmis sind die Landsorten fast vollständig von neueren Sorten verdrängt worden. Im Fezzan schreitet die Generosion fort. Hier konnten noch zahlreiche Getreide- und Gemüselandsorten gesammelt werden. Die Landsorten können für Züchtungsprogramme nützlich sein.

Mycelia of cord-forming fungi show remarkable patterns of reallocation of biomass and nutrients indicating an important role of these, often extensive, organisms in the spatial translocation of energy and nutrients in forest soils. Despite the rich tradition of interaction studies between soil microarthropods and fungi, the spatial implications of these interactions, due to the potential growth responses of the fungi and to the translocation of energy and nutrients within the mycelial network, have been largely ignored. In this paper we analyse fungal growth responses in two-dimensional model systems composed of compressed soil, the cord-forming fungus Hypholoma fasciculare and three fungivorous Collembolan species. We hypothesised that (i) the highly co-ordinated nature of cord-forming fungi would lead to growth responses following collembolan grazing, and that, (ii) such changes are dependent on grazing intensity, and (iii) changes are dependent on the species grazing. Mycelial extent and hyphal cover decreased with increasing grazing density; at highest grazing density also the fractal dimension of the mycelial border decreased, indicating a less branched foraging front due to the regression of fine hyphae and the development of mycelial cords. Effects differed greatly between collembolan species although they exerted comparable grazing pressure (the smaller species were added in larger numbers according to their allometric size-metabolic rate relationships): while grazing by Folsomia candida resulted in less mycelial extension and hyphal cover, these variables were not affected when Proisotoma minuta and Hypogastrura cf. tullbergi grazed. The effects of a species mix suggested an additive effect of the component species. This shows that fungal mycelia may suffer from damage caused by few but large collembolans, affecting extension as well as coverage of the mycelium, but that fungi may compensate for the biomass loss caused by more but slightly smaller collembolans. In about 20% of the model systems H. fasciculare switched from a growth pattern with a broad contiguous foraging front and uniform growth in all directions to a pattern with fast growing sectors while other sectors stopped growth completely. The switch occurred in grazed systems exclusively; thus we interpret this observation as a fugitive response and as a strategy for quickly escaping from places where grazing pressure is experienced. 相似文献

We used the soil‐core translocation method to investigate the effect of increased temperature on above‐ and below‐ground phytomass and organic matter in cool alpine areas. The translocation of undisturbed soil cores from a high alpine site (2525 m a.s.l.) to an alpine site near the timberline (1895 m a.s.l.) achieved an effective artificial warming of 3.3 K. From a methodological point of view, the translocation of soil cores was performed successfully. Soil cores moved to a new site at the same altitude showed no change in above‐ and below‐ground vegetation, bulk density, and soil skeleton. At both sites, soils were Haplic Podzols with a similar chemistry and clay mineralogy. At the lower elevation site, however, podzolization processes seemed to be more pronounced. As a consequence, the translocation of the soil cores probably led to a disturbance of the actual steady state that had been established after about 10,000–13,000 years of soil formation. This might have affected the adaptability of the vegetation system. Therefore, it cannot be fully excluded that the experimental design influenced the results. Translocation of soil cores from a very cool to a warmer site led to a distinct decrease in above‐ground phytomass (about –45%) over the experimental period of two years. Below‐ground phytomass significantly decreased (up to –50%) in the topsoil (0–5 cm) after artificial warming. Possible mechanisms are that roots reduced photosynthesis and hence C flow below‐ground, a reduction of soil moisture that would have led to root death (not a very probable cause, however) or an abrupt change in the radiation duration and flux which affected root growth (also not very probable). Fast climate change exceeded the ability of the above‐ground and below‐ground phytomass to adapt quickly. Whether the decrease in phytomass was a short‐term or a long‐term response to climate warming remains uncertain. Background: Nitrogen losses is an economic problem for wheat production and a high risk to the environment. Therefore, improved N fertilizer management is a key to increasing the N efficiency and minimizing N losses. To increase N efficiency, enhanced fertilizers such as urea combined with urease inhibitor can be used. Aims: The aim of present study was to evaluate the effects of different N forms on grain storage protein subunits in winter wheat and to examine whether the observed changes correlate with parameters of baking quality. Methods: The investigation was performed over two consecutive years at two locations in Germany. Protein subunits were analyzed by SDS‐PAGE. Results: Protein concentrations were similarly increased after fertilization with ammonium nitrate and urea + urease inhibitor. Analysis of the individual storage protein fractions indicated that both fertilizers specifically enhanced ω‐gliadins and HMW glutenins, but the effect was more pronounced in the ammonium nitrate treatment. Application of urea + urease inhibitor had greater influence on the protein composition and resulted in higher specific baking volume as well as the best fresh keeping ability, in comparison with urea treatment. Conclusion: Considering that the urea + urease inhibitor treatment resulted in almost comparable improvements of NUE and baking quality, with the additional benefit of reduced N losses in combination with easy handling, urea + urease inhibitor can be recommended as a viable alternative to both urea alone and ammonium nitrate treatments.
