The objective of this research was to evaluate the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (NPK) fertilizer effect on the development of ‘Valencia’ sweet orange nursery trees budded on Rangpur lime rootstocks in a greenhouse using containers. The experiment was a complete (1/5) 53 factorial randomized blocks design. Treatments comprised five concentrations (g per plant) of N (1.25; 6.25; 11.25; 16.25; 21.25); K (0.42; 3.75; 6.22; 9.34; 12.45); and P (0.19; 0.89; 1.59; 2.29; 2.99). Carbon dioxide assimilation rate (A), transpiration rate (E), stomata conductance (gs), and internal carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration (Ci) and water use efficiency (WUE). Reducing sugar, sucrose and starch were evaluated. Response functions were adjusted and nutrient rates for maximum yield were presented. The results indicated that the high levels of N (>16.25 g per plant) interferes negatively on photosynthesis. Potassium at intermediate fertilization levels (from 3.75 to 6.22 g per plant) had positive effects on photosynthesis. But P had little interference on photosynthesis. Carbohydrates levels were not related to nutrients fertilized.  相似文献

The sorption of four endocrine disruptors, bisphenol A (BPA), estrone (E1), 17β-estradiol (E2), and 17α-ethinylestradiol (EE2) in tropical sediment samples was studied in batch mode under different conditions of pH, time, and sediment amount. Data obtained from sorption experiments using the endocrine disruptors (EDs) and sediments containing different amounts of organic matter showed that there was a greater interaction between the EDs and organic matter (OM) present in the sediment, particularly at lower pH values. The pseudosecond order kinetics model successfully explained the interaction between the EDs and the sediment samples. The theoretical and experimentally obtained q e values were similar, and k values were smaller for higher SOM contents. The k F values, obtained from the Freundlich isotherms, varied in the ranges 4.2–7.4 × 10−2 (higher OM sediment sample, S2) and 1.7 × 10−3–3.1 × 10−2 (lower OM sediment sample, S1), the latter case indicating an interaction with the sediment that increased in the order: EE2 > > E2 > E1 > BPA. These results demonstrate that the availability of endocrine disruptors may be directly related to the presence of organic material in sediment samples. Studies of this kind provide an important means of understanding the mobility, transport, and/or reactivity of this type of emergent contaminant in aquatic systems.  相似文献

The only known sink for nitrous oxide (N2O) is biochemical reduction to dinitrogen (N2) by N2O reductase (N2OR). We hypothesized that the application of N2O-reducing denitrifier-inoculated organic fertilizer could enhance soil N2O consumption while the disruption of nosZ genes could result in inactivation of N2O consumption. To test such hypotheses, a denitrifier-inoculated granular organic fertilizer was applied to both soil microcosms and fields. Of 41 denitrifier strains, 38 generated 30N2 in the end products of denitrification (30N2 and 46N2O) after the addition of Na15NO3 in culture condition, indicating their high N2O reductase activities. Of these 41 strains, 18 were screened in soil microcosms after their inoculation into the organic fertilizer, most of which were affiliated with Azospirillum and Herbaspirillum. These 18 strains were nutritionally starved to improve their survival in soil, and 14 starved and/or non-starved strains significantly decreased N2O emissions in soil microcosms. However, the N2O emission had not been decreased in soil microcosms after inoculating with a nosZ gene-disruptive strain, suggesting that N2O reductase activity might be essential for N2O consumption. Although the decrease of N2O was not significant at field scales, the application of organic fertilizer inoculated with Azospirillum sp. TSH100 and Herbaspirillum sp. UKPF54 had decreased the N2O emissions by 36.7% in Fluvisol and 23.4% in Andosol in 2014, but by 21.6% in Andosol in 2015 (H. sp. UKPF54 only). These results suggest that the application of N2O-reducing denitrifier-inoculated organic fertilizer may enhance N2O consumption or decrease N2O emissions in agricultural soils.  相似文献

Purpose

Due to the modernization of the agro-industrial sector, compounds with different toxicity and effects on human health and animal have been used and consequently affecting the environment. Among them, tetracycline (TC) stands out as one of the antibiotics most commonly used worldwide. This study evaluated the TC interaction with different fractions of peat in natura and humic substances, humic acid, fulvic acid, and humin.

Materials and methods

The different fractions of the organic matter were characterized by organic matter content, elemental analysis, spectroscopic analysis (E4/E6), and nuclear magnetic resonance of carbon 13 (NMR 13C), and the interaction between TC and different fractions of organic matter was made by fluorescence spectrometry. We used the tangential ultra-filtration system for determining the complexation capability of humic substances (HSs), fulvic acids (FA), humic acids (HA), and humin (HUM) from peat with TC. Finally, we evaluated sorption kinetic experiments between TC and peat in natura.

Results and discussion

The peat samples, humic substances, FAs, HAs, and HUM were characterized by organic matter (OM), atomic ratio (H/C and C/O) calculated from elemental analysis data, functional groups quantified by NMR 13C data, and E4/E6 ratio, and the results show significant differences in the structural characteristics of the fractions of OM influenced by the type of microorganisms and environmental factors associated with this decomposition. Data analysis revealed the strongest interaction between HUM and TC (59.19 mg g?1), followed by interaction between HS and TC (43.36 mg g?1 HS). In the sorption studies, these conditions showed the best model to describe the system under consideration using the Freundlich model.

Conclusions

The results showed that the different fractions of the OM extracted from peat show different contributions that affect the bioavailability of contaminants to the environment.

The increase in demand for food due to the rapid population growth in recent years has raised the use of fertilizers, particularly phosphate salts. This fact has contributed to the excess amount of phosphorus species in aquatic systems. This is due to the leaching of these species present in the fertilizers applied to the soil to aquatic environments and may lead to eutrophication in these environments. Substances capable of interacting with the phosphate in the aquatic environment are promising for the reduction on the environmental impact. The humin, an insoluble fraction of humic material, has potential for phosphate retention, behaving like a chelating resin. Thus, the purpose of this research was to study the interaction between humin and phosphate. The equilibrium time between humin and phosphate was 15 min, where hydrogenionic potential (pH) 4.0 was the most effective in the interaction process. In this pH, the humin retained 33% of phosphate added. The complexing capacity of the humin-phosphate system was 11.53 mg g?1. The adsorption studies indicated that the system follows a kinetic pseudo-second-order model. The Freundlich model was the most suitable to describe the phosphate adsorption process in humin. To evaluate the humin application in real systems, humin was added to the domestic wastewater. Sixteen percent of the total phosphate was adsorbed by the humin. Based on these results, humin has the potential to phosphate retention in domestic wastewater and could be used as a chelating resin minimizing environmental impact.  相似文献

Amoebic gill disease (AGD), caused by Neoparamoeba perurans, is a major health challenge for Atlantic salmon aquaculture globally. While freshwater bathing for 2 hr is effective in reducing infection severity, there is need for more rapid and lower cost alternatives. To this end, a combination of sodium percarbonate (SPC) in freshwater was examined for its treatment efficacy. Initial in vitro studies showed a reduction in amoeba viability when exposed for 30 min to freshwater containing >500 mg/L SPC. Subsequently, AGD‐affected salmon were bathed for 30 min in 16°C freshwater containing 100, 500 or 1,000 mg/L SPC, or for 2 hr in 16°C freshwater to mimic industry practice. Treatment at the highest SPC concentration caused extensive gill damage and substantial mortality. Neither occurred to a significant extent at lower SPC concentrations. Gill pathology of surviving fish 10 days post‐treatment (dpt) was comparable to or more severe than pre‐treatment, and significantly (p < .001) more severe than in 2 hr freshwater bathed fish. N. perurans DNA was confirmed by qPCR in all treatment groups at 10 dpt. The data indicate that a 30‐min exposure to SPC in freshwater is not a suitable alternative to existing freshwater treatment of AGD.  相似文献

In the present study the external morphology of semi-engorged Rhipicephalus sanguineus females ticks from Brazil and Argentina were compared by scanning electron microscopy. Many differences were detected among the R. sanguineus collected at the two localities, such as body size, shape of the genital pore, and morphology of the sensory structures. All these characteristics are fundamental for the diagnosis of species of the genus Rhipicephalus and thus indicate the need for further comparisons and, the taxonomical revision of this species of tick in the Neotropics.  相似文献

Among the factors affecting the quality and yield of garlic production, blue mold caused by -- Penicillium spp. -- is responsible for economical losses in many countries. Allicin, present in garlic bulbs, has been suggested as having antifungal activity against some Penicillium species. This study was conducted to evaluate the response of garlic accessions against Penicillium hirsutum infection and to compare this response with bulb allicin content. Twelve garlic accessions were inoculated with P. hirsutum, and assayed in greenhouse and growth chamber experiments. Plant growth parameters and the fungal production of conidia were evaluated. Significant differences were found among the accessions. Accessions Castaño and Morado were most resistant whereas AR-I-125 and Fuego were always severely affected by the disease. A low correlation was found (r = 0.17) between allicin content and tolerance, indicating that allicin is not the main factor involved in the resistance against P. hirsutum.  相似文献

In this work we describe the internal morphology of the female reproductive system of the cayenne tick Amblyomma cajennense. This system is represented by a panoistic ovary, which lacks nurse cells in the germarium. This ovary consists of a single tube, in which a large number of oocytes develop asynchronously, thus accompanying the processes of yolk deposition in the oocytes. The oocytes were classified into stages that varied from I to V, according to: cytoplasm appearance, presence of the germ vesicle, presence of yolk granules, and presence of chorion. The study of vitellogenesis dynamics suggest that the yolk elements are deposited in the oocyte following a preferencial sequence, in which the lipids are the first to appear, followed by proteins an finally by the carbohydrates. In this way the yolk of A. cajennense ticks have these three elements that may be free in the cytoplasm or chemically bounded forming glycoprotein or lipoprotein complexes.  相似文献
