Different N sources (NO3, NH4+, or NH4NO3) at different relative addition rates (RAR) were supplied to cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.), a species sensitive to NH4+ toxicity. For comparison, cucumber plants were also grown at constant concentrations of 1 and 5 mM NH4+ or 5 mM NO3. The fresh weight of NH4+-fed plants at RAR 0.15 and RAR 0.25 day−1 was similar to that of NO3-fed plants, while at RAR 0.35 or RAR 0.45 day−1 growth reduction occurred. When available as a constant concentration, NH4+ decreased plant growth at 5 mM. It is concluded that at low rates of N supply the relative addition rate technique can be used for growing cucumber plants with NH4+ as sole N source without deleterious effects.  相似文献

A 12‐week feeding trial was conducted to estimate the dietary copper requirement of fingerling Channa punctatus. Six casein?gelatin‐based test diets (450 g kg?1 crude protein; 18.81 kJ g?1 gross energy) with graded levels of copper as copper sulphate (3.7, 4.7, 5.7, 6.7, 7.7 and 8.7 mg copper equivalent kg?1 diet) were formulated and fed to triplicate groups of fish (7.25 ± 0.81 cm; 5.21 ± 0.27 g) near to satiation. Fish fed diet with 6.7 mg kg?1 copper had highest absolute weight gain (AWG; 51.63 g fish?1), protein efficiency ratio (PER; 1.42 g fish?1), protein gain (PG; 8.34 g fish?1), haemoglobin (Hb; 9.68 g dL?1), haematocrit (Hct; 31.18%) and RBCs (3.24 × 106 × mm?3). Feed conversion ratio (FCR) was found to be best (1.57) at above level of dietary copper. Whole body copper concentration was found to increase with the increasing levels of dietary copper. Hepatic thiobarbituric acid‐reactive substances concentration was found to decrease with increasing dietary concentrations of copper up to 6.7 mg kg?1 beyond which a reverse trend in this parameter was noted. Broken‐line regression analysis of AWG, FCR and PG concentrations against varying levels of dietary copper yielded the requirement in the range of 6.66–6.78 mg kg?1. Data generated during this study would be useful in formulating copper‐balanced commercial feeds for the intensive culture of this fish.  相似文献

Diverting the infiltrating water away from the zone of N application can reduce nitrate–nitrogen (NO3–N) leaching losses to groundwater from agricultural fields. This study was conducted from 2001 through 2005 to determine the effects of N-application methods using a localized compaction and doming (LCD) applicator and spoke injector on NO3–N leaching losses to subsurface drainage water and corn (Zea mays L.)–soybean (Glycine max L.) yields. The field experiments were conducted at the Iowa State University’s northeastern research center near Nashua, Iowa, on corn–soybean rotation plots under chisel plow system having subsurface drainage ‘tile’ system installed in 1979. The soils at the site are glacial till derived soils. The N-application rates of 168 kg-N ha?1 were applied to corn only for both the treatments each replicated three times in a randomized complete block design. For combined 5 years, the LCD N-applicator in comparison with spoke injector showed lower flow weighted NO3–N concentrations in tile water (16.8 vs. 20.1 mg L?1) from corn plots, greater tile flow (66 vs. 49 mm), almost equivalent NO3–N leaching loss with tile water (11.5 vs. 11.3 kg-N ha?1) and similar corn grain yields (11.17 vs. 11.37 Mg ha?1), respectively, although treatments effects were found to be non-significant (p?=?0.05) statistically. The analysis, however, revealed that amount and temporal distribution of the growing season precipitation also affected the tile flow, NO3–N leaching loss to subsurface drain water, and corn–soybean yields. Moreover, the spatial variability effects from plot to plot in some cases, resulted in differences of tile flow and NO3–N leaching losses in the range of three to four times despite being treated with the same management practices. These results indicate that the LCD N-applicator in comparison with spoke injector resulted in lower flow weighted NO3–N concentrations in subsurface drain water of corn plots; however, strategies need to be developed to reduce the offsite transport of nitrate leaching losses during early spring period from March through June.  相似文献

The properties of soils affected by salinity and processes involving degradation of soil structure have been partly recognized. However, the effects of saline and sodic conditions on mechanical and physical properties of soils have been studied to a lesser extent. In this research, the effects of electrical conductivity (EC) and sodium adsorption ratio (SAR) on soils possessing various amounts of organic matter were assessed under laboratory conditions. The soils contained a uniform clay type, predominantly Illite. The major difference of the soils was their amount of organic matter content. The treatments consisted of solutions with definite EC and SAR (two levels of EC: 0.5 and 4 dS/m and three levels of SAR: 0, 5 and 15). The amount of tensile strength was dependent on organic matter, EC, and SAR in a way that with the increase of SAR, the tensile strength decreased. In similar SAR, treatments with higher EC exhibited greater tensile strength. Also, the soils with higher organic matter showed greater tensile strength. The analysis of variance showed the significant difference (at 1%) between the mean of parameters analyzed (soil type, sampling depth, EC, and SAR). The present study investigated the optimum dietary protein level for the maturation of adult Pangasianodon hypophthalmus broodstock. Four isocaloric diets containing 250, 300, 350 and 400 g kg?1 of protein levels were prepared and presented to triplicate groups of fish. The fish (mean weight 770 ± 17.23 g and 712 ± 23.42 g for females and males respectively) were stocked in outdoor canvas tanks (4 m × 1 m × 1 m) at a stocking density of 20 fish/tank with a male: female ratio of 1:4. The fish were fed the test diets to satiation twice daily for 6 months. Gonadosomatic index (GSI) and fecundity were similar among fish fed dietary protein levels, higher than those fed on the 250 g kg?1. Final weight, weight gain, oocyte weight were significantly highest (< 0.05) for the fish fed 350 and 400 g kg?1 dietary protein treatments. Only the 350 g kg?1 dietary protein treatment resulted in significantly best ovipositor diameter and % ripe egg. Amino acid levels were highest in the muscle followed by the oocyte and liver of fish fed 350 and 400 g kg?1 dietary protein levels. The present results suggested that a dietary protein level of 350 g kg?1 can be recommended for the development of P. hypophthalmus broodstock.  相似文献

In this study, the efficiency of a novel droplet vitrification technique along with different doses of fish antifreeze protein (AFP) type III on Persian sturgeon thawed spermatozoa quality (motility duration and motility percentage) was investigated. Semen of seven male individuals was pooled in equal volumes and diluted with 4°C Tris‐Hcl (100 mM), pH = 8 extenders containing 0, 5, 10, 15 μM of AFP type III in a ratio of 1:1 (semen/extenders). Treated semen was dropped into liquid nitrogen. Solidified droplets were stored for 2, 60 and 120 days and thawed by plunging them into a tube containing 5 mL Tris‐Hcl (100 mM), pH=8 with 1% BSA at 37°C. Motility duration in all treatments had no significant difference comparing to fresh sperm (P > 0.05), but their motility percentage was significantly lower. Treatment with 10 μM of AFP had significantly higher motility percentage (16.11 ± 0.5%) comparing to other treatments (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference between 0, 5, 15 μM of antifreeze protein treatments (P > 0.05), suggesting that antifreeze protein effectiveness are highly dose dependent, and dose of 10 μM is appropriate in Persian sturgeon spermatozoa droplet vitrification. Besides, the present technique obtained higher quality of spermatozoa comparing to its analogue techniques.  相似文献

Zinc deficiency in calcareous soils is a serious problem, which may be ameliorated by the application of some soil amendments. A completely randomized factorial experiment was done to investigate the effect of zeolite, vermicompost, zeolite + vermicompost, and Zn application to a calcareous soil on Zn availability, dry weight of spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.), and Zn concen-tration in spinach. Results indicated that zeolite had no effect on soil Zn availability, dry weight, and Zn concentration in spinach. Vermicompost significantly increased dry weight (1.33 g pot?1) and decreased Zn concentration in spinach (16 mg kg?1). Application of zeolite + vermicompost significantly increased dry weight (by 2.8 times) and Zn uptake in spinach and it also decreased Zn concentration in spinach less than vermicompost. Zinc application increased Zn concentration in spinach (up to 496 mg kg?1), but did not affect dry weight except in soils treated with zeolite + vermicompost. Generally, application of zeolite + vermicompost is recommended instead of separate zeolite or vermicompost application for improvement of soil Zn fertility and Zn uptake by spinach.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to test an artificial neural network (ANN) for converting pan evaporation data (E p) to estimate reference evapotranspiration (ET0) as a function of the maximum and minimum air temperature. The conventional method that uses Pan coefficient (K p) as a factor to convert E p to ET0, is also considered for the comparison. The ANN has been evaluated under semi-arid conditions in Safiabad Agricultural Research Center (SARC) in the southwest of Iran, comparing daily estimates against those from the FAO-56 Penman–Monteith equation (PM), which was used as standard. The comparison shows that, the conventional method underestimated ET0 obtained by the PM method. The ANN method gave better estimates than the conventional method that requires wind speed and humidity data.  相似文献
