Male rats were weaned on the 15th, 16th, 17th, 25th, and 30th day of postnatal life. The rate of elaboration of the conditioned reflex at 8 months of age and the stability of the memory trace at 12 months were studied. Compared with rats weaned at 30 days of age, those weaned on day 15 elaborated the conditioned reflex much more slowly and the memory trace was less firm. Rats weaned on days 16 and 17 elaborated the conditioned reflex more quickly than rats weaned on day 15 but more slowly than those weaned on day 30. In all groups the memory trace showed the same stability and was significantly firmer than in rats weaned on day 15. The higher nervous activity of rats weaned at the age of 25 days more nearly resembles that of rats weaned at 15 days than the 30th day.  相似文献

Feeding biology and thermal adaptations of the terrestrial isopod Mesoniscus graniger were studied. M. graniger is a depigmented isopod mainly inhabiting cave systems, although it has also been reported in endogeic (soil) habitats. Physiological adaptations are expected to reflect the unique environmental characteristics of caves, including restricted food sources, and stable microclimate with temperatures not exceeding about 10 °C and high relative humidity. The M. graniger from Domica and Ardovská caves (Slovakian Karst) were investigated. We identified organic deposits with associated microorganisms as sources exploited by M. graniger and assessed how these might supply essential polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) in its nutrition. Algae, fungi and bat guano were found as the most important potential resources of PUFA for isopods. Digestive enzymes amylase, trehalase, saccharase and maltase were confirmed in the whole body homogenates of isopods; neither cellulolytic activity nor activities against xylan, laminaran and lichenan were observed. Amylase, maltase and cellobiase activities were also observed in bacterial strains isolated and cultured from isopod midgut, and may account for the measured whole-animal activities. In an artificial temperature gradient, M. graniger selected temperature 3.5 ± 5.4 °C with lower and upper extremes of –1.5 and 18.5 °C. Respiration, as measured by VO2, was almost independent of temperature between 5 and 10 °C, then increased between 10 and 30 °C. These ecophysiological measures are consistent with adaptation to a stenothermal environment.  相似文献

Sulphate concentrations and 34S ratios were monitored in bulk precipitation, spruce throughfall, and soil water (depth of 30 and 90 cm) at ervená jáma (CER) and Naetín (NAC), two severely polluted sites in the Czech Republic, between December 1992 and September 1994. Throughfall [SO4 2–], up to 80 mg L–1 in winter and as low as 7 mg L–1 in summer, was higher than [SO4 2–] in bulk precipitation (annual average 6 mg L–1). There was a distinct seasonaity in S isotope abundances, with lower 34SBULK in summer (+4 per mil CER, + 6 per mil NAC) and lower 34STF in winter (+3 per mil CER, +4 per mil NAC). Wintertime 34SBULK was around +8 per mil at CER and +10 per mil at NAC, summertime 34STF was close to +7 per mil at both sites. For only a 1- month period in spring, bulk precipitation S became isotopically lighter than throughfall S. Bulk precipitation data from CER were in good agreement with those from the nearby monitoring station Lesná (LES), typically differing by less than 10 mg L–1 and 2 per mil in [SO4 2–] and 34S, respectively. Suction lysimeters (soil depth of 30 and 90 cm) yielded higher sulphate concentrations and lower 34S ratios compared to both bulk and throughfall precipitation. Depth profiles of total S, organic S, soluble SO 4 2? -S, FeS, and FeS2 were characterized for Sphagnum-derived peat cores collected from 9 sites. Marcell S-2 Bog (MN), Tamarack Swamp (PA), Cranesville Swamp (MD/WV), and Big Run Bog (WV) receive water from precipitation and upland runoff; atmospheric S deposition is 13, 47, 54, and 114 mmol m?2, yr?1, respectively. McDonald's Branch Swamp (NJ) is predominantly groundwater fed. Tub Run Bog (WV) and Allegheny Mining Bog (MD) receive augmented SO 4 2? inputs through acid coal mine drainage. Jezerní slat' and Bo?í Dar Bog in Czechoslovakia receive atmospheric S inputs of 33 and 243 mmol m?2 yr?1, respectively. In the peat from all sites except Allegheny Mining Bog, where the substantially augmented SO 4 2? input was reflected in an unusually high dissolved SO 4 2? pool in the surface peat, organic S (probably mostly carbon bonded S) was the dominant S fraction; FeS2 was generally the dominant inorganic S fraction. Subsurface peaks in total S, organic S and FeS2-S in peat from the runoff water fed sites were interpreted as indicative of depth-dependent patterns in S reduction/oxidation and in S immobilization/mineralization. Unless SO 4 2? inputs to a site are tremendously augmented (e.g., Allegheny Mining Bog), the rapid turnover of the dissolved SO 4 2? pool combined with the relative stability of the other inorganic and organic S pools, apparently functions as an effective buffer against site differences in S inputs, leading to a general similarity in vertical S profiles in the peat deposits.  相似文献

Subcritical water extraction of antioxidant compounds from rosemary plants   总被引:7,自引:0,他引:7  
Subcritical water extraction at several temperatures ranging from 25 to 200 degrees C has been studied to selectively extract antioxidant compounds from rosemary leaves. An exhaustive characterization of the fractions obtained using subcritical water at different temperatures has been carried out by LC-MS, and the antioxidant activities of the extracts have been measured by a free radical method (DPPH). Results indicate high selectivity of the subcritical water toward the most active compounds of rosemary such as carnosol, rosmanol, carnosic acid, methyl carnosate, and some flavonoids such as cirsimaritin and genkwanin. The antioxidant activity of the fractions obtained by extraction at different water temperatures was very high, with values around 11.3 microg/mL, comparable to those achieved by SFE of rosemary leaves. A study of the effect of the temperature on the extraction efficiency of the most typical rosemary antioxidant compounds has been performed.  相似文献

We studied the effect of growth regulators-α-naphthyl-acetic acid (NAA) and 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) on bulblet regeneration from bulb scale explants of Lilium oriental hybrid ‘Crimson Beauty’. The combination of 5 μM BAP and 1 μM NAA in the basal culture medium of Linsmaier and Skoog induced maximum bulblet formation per explant. On the same medium we succeeded in inducing bud differentiation on the ovary- and leaf-derived explants and in callus culture. Abstract

The presence of northern root knot nematode (Meloidogyne hapla) has considerably increased in the Czech Republic during the last 10 years. The management of this pest is difficult; thus, the aim of this study was to test two alternative pest management techniques on carrots under field conditions. When Indian mustard (Brassica juncea) was ploughed and the treated area was then covered with polyethylene sheets to prolong effect of the treatment, the root gall numbers decreased; whereas a nitrolime application combined with plastic covering had a positive effect on the experimental plants’ fresh weight.  相似文献

Twelve species of section Adenolinum from genus Linum have been studied using cytogenetic methods (DAPI/C-banding, Ag-NOR staining, FISH with 5S and 26S rDNA probes), RAPD analysis, and seed surface ultrastructure and seed coat anatomy investigation. Karyotype analysis revealed that these species have a chromosome number of 2n = 18 or 2n = 36. The DAPI/C-banding patterns enabled the identification of all chromosomes and revealed the similarities in chromosome patterns in all of the studied species. It was found that 18-chromosome plants are diploids, whereas 36-chromosome forms are tetraploids. In diploid species, 5S and 26S rRNA genes are located in similar positions on a single pair of chromosomes or on two chromosome pairs in tetraploids. Ag-NOR staining showed NOR activity in both genomes of tetraploids. RAPD analysis and seed coat anatomy investigation revealed some interspecies differences. Species from nearby areas have more similar RAPD characteristics compared with more geographically distant species. The results of this study may serve as an additional argument in favour of a monophyletic origination of the Adenolinum species and its strong isolation from other Linum species.  相似文献
