Camelina sativa has rejuvenated as a successful oilseed crop in the recent years. It is a low-input-requiring crop with an unusual fatty acid composition. A pot experiment was conducted in rain-out shelter to investigate the effect of different nitrogen levels (N0 = 0, N1 = 50, N2 = 100, and N3 = 150 kg ha?1) on the growth and yield of two C. sativa genotypes (Australian and Canadian) under normal [100% field capacity (FC)] and water stressed (60% FC) conditions. The experiment was laid out in a completely randomized design with factorial arrangement having three replicates in the Department of Crop Physiology, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. The results indicated that nitrogen doses and water stress levels significantly affected the growth and yield of C. sativa. Maximum values for growth indices like leaf area index (LAI), crop growth rate (CGR), leaf area duration (LAD), net assimilation rate (NAR), and yield attributes were observed under N2 treatment (100 kg ha?1) followed by the treatment in which nitrogen was applied at the rate of 50 kg ha?1. However, growth and yield components significantly reduced under water stress conditions (60% FC). Of both the genotypes, Australian Camelina performed better as compared to Canadian Camelina under both non-stress and drought stress conditions. 相似文献

The form of sulfur fertilizer can influence its behavior and crop response. A growth chamber study was conducted to evaluate five sulfur fertilizer forms (ammonium sulfate, ammonium thiosulfate, gypsum, potassium sulfate, and elemental sulfur) applied in seed row at 20 kg S ha?1 alone, and in combination with 20 kg phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5) ha?1, to three contrasting Saskatchewan soils. Wheat, canola, and pea were grown in each soil for 8 weeks and aboveground biomass yields determined. The fate of fertilizer was evaluated by measuring crop sulfur and phosphorus concentration and uptake, and supply rates and concentrations of available sulfate and phosphate in the seed row. Canola was most responsive in biomass yield to the sulfur fertilizers. Sulfate and thiosulfate forms were effective in enhancing soil-available sulfate supplies in the seed row, crop sulfur uptake, and yield compared to the elemental sulfur fertilizer. Combination of sulfur fertilizer with monoammonium phosphate may provide some enhancement of phosphate availability, but effects were often minor. 相似文献

The present study investigated the influence of seed priming with silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs), 0, 2, 5 and 10 mM, on growth and biochemical parameters of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under salt stress. As expected, 150 mM of NaCl decreased the shoot fresh and dry weights and chlorophyll contents and increased the catalase (CAT) and peroxidase (POD) activities. Salinity enhanced the concentration of proline, soluble sugars, malondialdehyde and hydrogen peroxide. Seed priming with Ag NPs increased the shoot fresh and dry weight of normal and salt-stressed plants. Lower concentration of Ag NPs decreased the total soluble sugars and proline contents, while the higher Ag NPs levels increased these contents compared to the control. The combined application of Ag NPs and salt stress increased the soluble sugars and proline contents, while it decreased CAT activity and increased POD activity compared to the respective Ag NPs treatments alone. Overall, our results demonstrated that Ag NPs enhanced the salt tolerance in wheat, but the long-term response of Ag NPs under salt stress needs further investigation. 相似文献

Convolvulus arvensis is a toxic allelopathic weed that suppresses germination and growth of crops.The prime object of present study was to investigate effect of Convolvulus arvensis water extract on germination and performance of okra with different seed sizes.The seeds of okra variety pusa green were separated into three different sizes,viz large size(4.00-5.00 mm),medium size(3.00-3.50 mm)and small size(2.00-3.50 mm),and then soaked in allelopathic plant bindweed water extract and kept in patrisdishes for germination into the germinator at 15℃.The experiment was laid out using Complete Randomized Design(CRD)with three replications.The results showed that after sowing of 12 days the highest germination was observed in non-treated seeds as compared to seeds treated in Convolvulus arvensis water extract for 1 h,further non-treated large seeds produced maximum plants as compared to treated small seeds after sowing of 24 days.Meanwhile,root length,shoot length,root fresh and dry weight,shoot fresh and dry weight were recorded higher in non-treated large seeds as compared to small seeds soaked for 1 h in Convolvulus arvensis allelopthic water extract.It could be found that Convolvulus arvensis affected germination,seed growth and overall performance of okra,further presence Convolvulus arvensis in crops could cause negative impact on germination and integrity of okra crops. 相似文献

研究缓/控释氮肥、氮肥配施硝化抑制剂和微生物菌剂对稻田生态系统白天CO_2净交换、群体叶面积和生物量的影响及其相互关系,有助于进一步了解这几类新型氮肥对稻田碳同化的促进作用及增产效果。为此于2012—2013年在湖北荆州进行大田试验,设置了五种氮肥处理:常规尿素(CK)、树脂包膜控释尿素(CRU)、尿素添加硝化抑制剂氯甲基吡啶(NU)、尿素添加硝化抑制剂二甲基吡唑磷酸盐(DMPP)、尿素配施微生物菌剂(EM)。采用静态箱-气相色谱法连续观测双季稻生态系统白天的CO_2净交换通量,并在各生育期测定水稻群体的叶面积和地上生物量,分析不同氮肥处理下这些指标的变化。结果表明:水稻生长季稻田生态系统白天表现为CO_2的净吸收,净交换通量受气温、降水等气象要素影响较大,在拔节-抽穗阶段出现较高值。相比普通尿素,新型氮肥在不同程度上提高了稻田CO_2净交换,在单个水稻生长季NU提高了13.2%~51.6%的平均CO_2净吸收通量,其次为CRU提高了9.8%~34.1%。在各生育期,新型氮肥对水稻群体叶面积指数和地上生物量表现出更高的促进效果,其中以CRU最为显著,其最大峰值相比CK分别提高了12.4%~18.6%和9.1%~18.8%。通过回归分析发现,水稻群体叶面积指数与CO_2净吸收通量为线性正相关关系,地上生物量与CO_2净吸收通量为抛物线型关系,这在一定程度上说明了水稻群体生长状况与稻田生态系统CO_2同化速率间的关系。包膜控释尿素、添加硝化抑制剂、添加微生物菌剂有助于提高水稻群体叶面积和生物量,促进稻田生态系统CO_2同化,其中树脂包膜控释尿素效果最佳。 相似文献

The study was conducted throughout two seasons (2013 and 2014) at Xmatkuil farm at Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, to determine the relationships and the interactions between chemical compositions of condensed tannins and mimosine and their effects on the susceptibility of four Leucaena genotypes: Cunningham and K636 (L. leucocephala), and Nativa and KX2 (L. leucocephala × L. pallida) to the infestation of the most destructive insect pests; Leucaena Psyllids, Heteropsylla cubana Crawford, 1914 (Homoptera: Psyllidae), and Onion thrips, Thrips tabaci Lindeman, 1889 (Thysanoptera: Thripidae). Mimosine showed insignificant effect on the population of both pests. However, tannins exhibited a significant effect for Psyllid population on Nativa and K636, and highly significant effect on thrips for the same respective genotypes. The insignificant relationships of tannin effect were found for Cunningham and KX2 to the population fluctuations of Psyllid and Thrips. 相似文献

The genebank at ICRISAT conserves the largest collection of 23,092 pearl millet germplasm accessions originating in 52 countries. A total of 15,979 landraces originating in 34 countries and having geographic coordinates of the collection sites were selected to investigate the geographical distribution of pearl millet traits and diversity in the collection. Results revealed adaptation of pearl millet to latitudes ranging between 33.00°S and 36.91°N. Landraces with early flowering (33–40 days) were predominant in Pakistan, Ghana, Togo and India; with very late flowering (121–159 days) in Sierra Leone and the Central African Republic; with short plant height (80–100 cm) in India, Zambia and Sudan; with tallness (401–490 cm) in Chad, Burkina Faso, Nigeria and the Central African Republic; with high tillering (11–35) in India and Yemen; with high panicle exsertion (11–29 cm) in Ghana, Chad, India and Yemen; with long panicles (75–135 cm) in Nigeria and Niger; with thick panicles (41–58 mm) in Namibia, Togo and Zimbabwe and those with large seeds (16–19 g 1000 seeds?1) were predominant in Togo, Benin, Ghana and Burkina Faso. Collections from Ghana for flowering (36–150 days), Burkina Faso for plant height (80–490), India and Yemen for total (1–35) and productive (1–19) tillers per plant, Niger for panicle exsertion (?45 to 21.0), panicle length (9–135 cm) and thickness (12–55 mm) and Zimbabwe for 1000 seed weight (3.5–19.3 g), were found as important sources for trait diversity. The form of nitrogen (N) supply has a significant impact on rhizosphere chemistry and root growth responses of higher plants. The respective effects are also employed as management options to improve nutrient acquisition and to minimize nutrient losses in cropping systems. However, surprisingly little is known concerning the interactions with rhizosphere biota. In this study, we investigated the effects of selected bacterial and fungal inoculants with proven plant growth‐promoting and phosphate (P)‐solubilizing potential (plant growth‐promoting microorganisms, PGPM) in maize with nitrate or stabilized ammonium supply, on soils with limited P availability and sparingly soluble rock phosphate (Rock‐P) applied as P fertilizer. The combination of the bacterial inoculants Pseudomonas sp. DSMZ 13134 (Proradix) and Bacillus amyloliquefaciens FZB42 with ammonium sulphate fertilization, stabilized with the nitrification inhibitor 3,4‐dimethylpyrazole‐phosphate (DMPP), resulted in a superior shoot biomass production (79–111%) and shoot P accumulation (109–235%) as compared with nitrate supply. This effect could be partially attributed to (1) ammonium‐induced rhizosphere acidification via increased root extrusion of protons, (2) promotion of root hair elongation, and (3) increased shoot concentrations of hormonal growth regulators (indole‐3‐acetic acid, zeatin, gibberellic acid). The effects, induced by the microbial inoculants were mainly related to increased root length development (43–44%), associated with a 60% increase in auxin production potential. No inoculant effects were detected on root hair elongation or on chemical modifications of the rhizosphere involved in P solubilisation, such as rhizosphere acidification, release of carboxylates or secretory phosphohydrolases. However, the ammonium‐induced stimulation of root hair elongation increased preferential sites for root colonization by the selected inoculants, which may explain the increase in rhizosphere abundance of PGPMs, exemplarily recorded for the fungal inoculant Trichoderma harzianum OMG16 (210%). The presented data suggest a network of positive interactions between stabilized ammonium fertilization and plant growth‐promoting functions of various bacterial and fungal PGPM inoculants. This offers perspectives to increase the efficiency and the reproducibility of PGPM‐assisted fertilization strategies. 相似文献

Low soil fertility and soil acidity are among the major bottlenecks that limit agricultural productivity in the humid tropics. Soil management systems that enhance soil fertility and biological cycling of nutrients are crucial to sustain soil productivity. This study was, therefore, conducted to determine the effects of coffee‐husk biochar (0, 2.7, 5.4, and 16.2 g biochar kg?1 soil), rhizobium inoculation (with and without), and P fertilizer application (0 and 9 mg P kg?1 soil) on arbuscular mycorrhyzal fungi (AMF) root colonization, yield, P accumulation, and N2 fixation of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merrill cv. Clark 63‐K] grown in a tropical Nitisol in Ethiopia. ANOVA showed that integrated application of biochar and P fertilizer significantly improved soil chemical properties, P accumulation, and seed yield. Compared to the seed yield of the control (without inoculation, P, and biochar), inoculation, together with 9 and 16.2 g biochar kg?1 soil gave more than two‐fold increment of seed yield and the highest total P accumulation (4.5 g plant?1). However, the highest AMF root colonization (80%) was obtained at 16.2 g biochar kg?1 soil without P and declined with application of 9 mg P kg?1 soil. The highest total N content (4.2 g plant?1) and N2 fixed (4.6 g plant?1) were obtained with inoculation, 9 mg P kg?1, and 16.2 g biochar kg?1 soil. However, the highest %N derived from the atmosphere (%Ndfa) (> 98%) did not significantly change between 5.4 and 16.2 g kg?1 soil biochar treatments at each level of inoculation and P addition. The improved soil chemical properties, seed yield, P accumulation and N2 fixation through combined use of biochar and P fertilizer suggest the importance of integrated use of biochar with P fertilizer to ensure that soybean crops are adequately supplied with P for nodulation and N2‐fixation in tropical acid soils for sustainable soybean production in the long term. 相似文献
