Chitin was prepared from Persian Gulf shrimp (Metapenaeus monoceros), and then, the obtained chitin was hydrolyzed by hydrochloric acid solutions. The production yield of glucosamine hydrochloride from chitin was optimized, and the effect of three factors (acid concentration, acid to chitin ratio, and reaction time) was investigated. A Box-Behnken design by Minitab software created 12 reactions with different conditions. Each reaction was performed in two replicates. Response surface methodology was used for predicting the glucosamine preparation. The optimum conditions for glucosamine hydrochloride preparation were 30 and 37% hydrochloric acid, 9:1 (v/w) acid solution to solid ratio, and 4 h of reaction time. Time ratio and time acid concentrations were the effective factors on the yield. 相似文献

Effect of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer on growth, yield and chemical composition of sweet fennel
AbstractIn this study, the effect of different levels of nitrogen (N) and potassium (K) fertilizers on vegetative fresh bulb yield, quality and biochemical attributes of sweet fennel were investigated in spring 2017 and 2018. Treatments consisted of 0, 50, 100, or 150?kg ha?1 of N and K in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Results showed that, the bulb fresh yield increased with application of N and K in both years, while the higher level of K had significant adverse effect in first year. Results also showed that sweet fennel bulb treated by N and K exhibited higher vitamin C, total phenols and flavonoid contents, and antioxidant capacity, especially in first year. In both years, alone or combined application of N and K increased total soluble solids (TSS) content as compared to control, and this effect was more pronounced in 2017 season. Macronutrient contents of bulb including magnesium (Mg), phosphorus (P), K, N, and calcium (Ca) were significantly enhanced by NK fertilizer, however an alone application of K decreased Ca and Mg nutrient contents. Therefore, to improve fresh bulb yield, quality and antioxidant capacity in sweet fennel, 150?kg ha?1 K and 100?kg ha?1 N is recommended. 相似文献

The effects of water stress on Fusarium foot and root rot in durum wheat were investigated in growth chamber, greenhouse and field tests in Tunisia. In the seedling stage, emergence of six durum wheat cultivars in the growth chamber was significantly reduced by inoculation with Fusarium culmorum and water stress (P<0.0001), with more disease under drier conditions. Additionally, the tiller number per mature plant, the 1000 grain weight and disease severity in mature stage were reduced by inoculation in greenhouse studies. In a field test, inoculation with F. culmorum significantly reduced the yield (P<0.001), by more than 17% for Om Rabiaa and 38% for Karim, the two cultivars tested. Yield was also significantly affected by precipitation and irrigation levels. The severity of the disease, estimated by the percentage of white heads, was separately affected by the cultivar (P<0.001) and inoculation (P = 0.0004). Percentage of white heads was 1.5 and 2 × higher in inoculated plants than non-inoculated for Om Rabiaa and Karim cultivars, respectively. Disease severity was highest in treatments with the greatest water stress. This is the first detailed study of water stress and F. culmorum on durum wheat in Tunisia, and indicates that cultivar resistance and irrigation management may be important in the management of Fusarium foot rot. 相似文献

Angular leaf spot (ALS), an important disease of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), is caused by the fungus Pseudocercospora griseola. This pathogen has a wide genetic variability and, therefore, poses a challenge to integrated disease management. The use of resistant cultivars is difficult; hence, the application of fungicides has been a common practice in common bean cultivation. P. griseola strains were morphophysiologically characterized and their sensitivity to common fungicides used to control ALS was studied. The strains were evaluated for sporulation capacity and a representative sample of 34 strains was bioassayed to determine their sensitivity to commercial concentrations of five fungicides, namely pyraclostrobin, mancozeb, pyraclostrobin + metconazole, chlorothalonil and tebuconazole. Another sample of 29 strains was studied for conidial germination and dimensions. Sporulation capacity ranged from 0.88 to 27.67 × 104 conidia/ml and germination percentage ranged from 39% to 72%. The large differences among strains suggest a wide genetic variability among the strains. A wide variability in aggressiveness of P. griseola was observed, which has consequences for breeding programmes aimed at resistance. The behaviour of pathogen strains differed in every fungicide evaluated, even in a population that has not been under selection pressure in the field. These results confirm the need for further studies and may guide future research with this pathogen. 相似文献

Efforts to influence the biology of blood vessels by gene delivery have been hampered by a lack of targeting vectors specific for endothelial cells in diseased tissues. Here we show that a cationic nanoparticle (NP) coupled to an integrin alphavbeta3-targeting ligand can deliver genes selectively to angiogenic blood vessels in tumor-bearing mice. The therapeutic efficacy of this approach was tested by generating NPs conjugated to a mutant Raf gene, ATPmu-Raf, which blocks endothelial signaling and angiogenesis in response to multiple growth factors. Systemic injection of the NP into mice resulted in apoptosis of the tumor-associated endothelium, ultimately leading to tumor cell apoptosis and sustained regression of established primary and metastatic tumors. 相似文献

Background:Tuberculosis infection still represents a global health issue affecting patients worldwide. Strategies for its control may be not as effective as it should be, specifically in case of resistant strains of M.tb. In this regard, the role of mycobacterial MTases in TB infection can be fundamental, though it has not been broadly deciphered. Methods:Five resistant isolates of M.tb were obtained. M.tb H37Rv (ATCC 27249) was used as a reference strain. Seven putative mycobacterial MTase genes (Rv0645c, Rv2966c, Rv1988, Rv1694, Rv3919c, Rv2756c, and Rv3263) and Rv1392 as SAM synthase were selected for analysis. PCR-sequencing and qRT-PCR were performed to compare mutations and expression levels of MTases in different strains. The 2-ΔΔCt method was employed to calculate the relative expression levels of these genes. Results:Only two mutations were found in INHR strain for Rv3919c (T to G in codon 341) and Rv1392 (G to A in codon 97) genes. Overexpression of Rv0645c, Rv2756c, Rv3263, and Rv2966c was detected in all sensitive and resistant isolates. However, Rv1988 and Rv3919c decreased and Rv1694 increased in the sensitive strains. The Rv1392 expression level also decreased in INHR isolate. Conclusion:We found a correlation between mycobacterial MTases expression and resistance to antibiotics in M.tb strains. Some MTases undeniably are virulence factors that specifically hijack the host defense mechanism. Further evaluations are needed to explore the complete impact of mycobacterial MTases within specific strains of M.tb to introduce novel diagnosis and treatment strategies.Key Words: Drug resistance, Methyltransferases, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, S-adenosylmethionine 相似文献
