Samples of single colony isolates of Erysiphe graminis f.sp. hordei were collected in Cambridge on three dates in 1985, and tested for the presence of 12 virulence alleles and resistance to two fungicides, triadimenol and ethirimol. The frequency of the virulence V-(La) fell during 1985, while the frequency of V-h. virulence on cv. Triumph and higher levels of resistance to each fungicide and combined resistance to both fungicides rose. Two phenotypes, both of which possessed virulence on cv. Triumph and three unnecessary virulence alleles and had similar sensitivities to ethirimol, but differed in their level of resistance to triadimenol, accounted for 35.9% of all isolates. The high frequency of these phenotypes accounted for most of the observed gametic phase disequilibria between pathogenicity characters. Most individuals with these two phenotypes may be members of the same clone. It was estimated that 25% of the spore population which initiated the autumn epidemic of E.g. f.sp. hordei originated from ascospores formed by sexual reproduction in the summer. It is proposed that genetic drift followed by hitch-hiking selection, due to intense selection for a clone virulent on a newly-introduced cultivar, is a major factor influencing the frequency of unnecessary virulence alleles. 相似文献

The bioherbicidal fungus, Colletotrichum truncatum (Schwein.) Andrus & Moore, was tested at different inoculum concentrations alone and in combination with, prior to or following treatment with different rates of glyphosate ( N -[phosphonomethyl]glycine) (Roundup Ultra) for the control of hemp sesbania ( Sesbania exaltata [Raf.] Rydb. ex A.W. Hill) in Roundup Ready soybean field plots. Colletotrichum truncatum and glyphosate were applied in all pair-wise combinations of 0, 1.25, 2.5, 5.0, and 10.0 × 106 spores mL−1 (i.e. 3.125, 6.25, 12.5, and 25 × 1011 spores ha−1 ), and 0.15, 0.30, 0.60, and 1.2 kg ha−1 , respectively. Weed control and disease incidence were enhanced at the two lowest fungal and herbicidal rates when the fungal spores were applied after glyphosate treatment. The application of the fungus in combination with or prior to glyphosate application at 0.30 kg ha−1 resulted in reduced disease incidence and weed control regardless of the inoculum's concentration. At the highest glyphosate rates, the weeds were controlled by the herbicide alone. MICROBIAL POPULATIONS AND NITROGEN IN SOIL GROWING CONSECUTIVE CEREAL CROPS INFECTED WITH TAKE-ALL 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Annually, for the past 12 years, a consecutive cereal-cropping sequence was begun. During 1969–72 soil was collected from plots with similar fertilizer treatments, but with different sequences of crops. In 1971 and 1972 wheat seedling bioassays showed that take-all disease became miximal after two or three crops, decreased to the fifth or sixth crop and then remained fairly constant in the‘take-all decline’state. The sequence with maximum disease had most NH4+ -N and least NO3- -N in the rhizosphere soil in spring 1972, but there were no similar relationships in bulk soil in either of 2 years. Soil and rhizoplane populations of ammonifying and denitrifying bacteria were notably smaller in autumn 1970 and 1971 in short cereal sequences (2-5 yr.) than in the longer sequences. After γ-irradiating or autoclaving irradiated soils, all sequences contained much NH4+ -N and although disease developing from added inoculum differed among soils, it did not follow the take-all decline pattern. In field experiments conducted near Stoneville, MS, USA, in 2000 and 2001, the bioherbicidal fungus, Myrothecium verrucaria (Alb. & Schwein.) Ditmar: Fr., was tested alone and in combination with a glyphosate ( N -[phosphonomethyl]glycine) product for controlling natural infestations of the invasive vines, redvine ( Brunnichia ovata [Walt.] Shinners) and trumpetcreeper ( Campsis radicans [L.] Seem. ex Bureau). After 12 days, redvine and trumpetcreeper were controlled by 88% and 90%, respectively, through a synergistic interaction between the fungus and the herbicide, glyphosate. The disease symptomatology was characterized by rapid necrosis of the leaf and stem tissues, with mortality occurring within 72 h. Neither glyphosate alone, nor M. verrucaria alone, controlled these weeds at commercially acceptable levels (≥80%). No visual disease or herbicide damage occurred to the soybean in the treated test plots 12 days after planting. These results suggest that some formulations of glyphosate, mixed with M. verrucaria , can effectively control redvine and trumpetcreeper. 相似文献

Plasma pharmacokinetics of ranitidine HCl were investigated after intravenous (i.v.) and oral (p.o.) administration of 2.2 mg/kg drug to six healthy adult horses. Concentrations of ranitidine were determined using normal-phase, high-performance liquid chromatography. Plasma concentrations of ranitidine HCl declined from a mean of 5175 ng/mL at 5 min to 37 ng/mL at 720 min after i.v. administration. A three-exponent equation, Cp = A1 · e–k1t + A2 · e–k2t + A3 · e–k3t , best described data for all horses. Mean values for model-independent values calculated from the last quantifiable time point were: apparent volume of distribution (Vdss ) = 1.07 L/kg; area under the curve ( AUC ) = 231,000 ng · min/mL; area under the moment curve ( AUMC ) = 26,900,000 ng · min2 /mL; mean residence time ( MRT ) = 113 min; and clearance (Cl) = 9.8 mL/min.kg. Following p.o. administration, a two-exponent equation, Cp = A1 · e–k1t + A2 · e–k2t , best described the data for five horses; data for the remaining horse were best described by a three-exponent equation. The effects of a bovine bronchopneumonia model on the pharmacokinetics and tissue residue depletion profiles of gentamicin in calves weighing 90-140 kg was explored. Two groups of heifer calves were used. The first was a normal group, while the second group had bronchopneumonia induced. A scoring system was developed to evaluate the extent of disease in the groups. A bimodal distribution of the serum pharmacokinetic parameters in the pneumonic group was caused by the effects of dehydration. When the severely dehydrated calves were omitted from the analysis, serum clearance of gentamicin was significantly higher in the pneumonic group than in the normal group (P less than 0.05). The pharmacokinetic equations used to fit the tissue concentrations varied from tissue to tissue and between groups. Because the best equation of a particular tissue's concentrations varied between groups, withdrawal periods, which are normally determined in healthy animals, may be inappropriate in diseased animals. Addition of several parameters (serum creatinine, serum urea nitrogen, albumin, fibrinogen, and total protein concentrations, white blood cell counts, central fluid volume, volume of distribution at steady state, area under the serum concentration vs time curve, serum clearance, and elimination rate constant) to these tissue-depletion models using multiple regression improved the prediction of a concentration in a given tissue. 相似文献

The association between the occurrence of a lumbosacral transitional vertebra (LTV) and the cauda equina syndrome (CES) in dogs was investigated. In 4000 control dogs without signs of CES, 3.5% had an LTV, while in 92 dogs with CES, 16.3% had an LTV. The lesion causing CES always occurred between the last true lumbar vertebra and the LTV. Dogs with an LTV were eight times more likely to develop CES than dogs without an LTV. German Shepherd dogs were eight times more likely to develop CES compared with other breeds. Male dogs were twice as likely to develop CES than females. Dogs with an LTV develop CES 1-2 years earlier than dogs without an LTV. 相似文献
