The zoanthids Palythoa caribaeorum and Protopalythoa variabilis are among the most abundant marine species along the Brazilian coast. We now report the isolation and structure elucidation of two unprecedented sulfonylated ceramides, palyosulfonoceramide A (1) and palyosulfonoceramide B (2) from specimens collected off Brazil’s northeastern coast. The structures of 1 and 2 were established using a combination of NMR analyses, including: evaluation of 1H, 13C, 1H–1H COSY, 1H–13C HSQC, 1H–13C HMBC, and 1H–15N HMBC NMR spectra, high-resolution mass spectrometry and chemical degradation. In addition, we also isolated the corresponding known ceramides, N-((2S,3R,4E,8E)-1,3-dihydroxyoctadeca-4,8-dien-2-yl)-hexadecanamide (3) and N-((2S,3R,4E)-1,3-dihydroxyoctadeca-4-en-2-yl)-hexadecanamide (4), which provided further support for the assignments of 1 and 2.  相似文献

The involvement of androgens during sex differentiation period was investigated in the pejerrey Odontesthes bonariensis, by classic biochemical studies and gonadal histology. We studied in particular whether the enzyme activities involved in 11-oxygenated androgen production were active in a gonadal/peritoneum complex (GPC) of very small larvae exposed to masculinizing temperatures previous to morphological sex differentiation (5 weeks post-hatching). The GPC was incubated with 17-hydroxyprogesterone (3H-17P), and the presence of 11-KT as major metabolite in early gonads undergoing masculine pathway after temperature treatment exposure is reported. 11-KT was identified by thin-layer chromatography and high-pressure liquid chromatography. The present results show that 11-KT is produced at very early stages of testis development in pejerrey, being this androgen one of the main mediators of the masculinization induced by temperature treatment at the gonad level.  相似文献

The altitudinal pattern of genetic variation in Pinus hartwegii Lindl. populations was explored for seedling height growth, frost damage, grass-stage, and phenological stage of the terminal shoot. A provenance test was conducted with open-pollinated seed from 13 populations collected along an altitudinal transect (3000–3600 m) at the National Park Pico de Tancítaro, Michoacán, center-west Mexico. Height growth of seedlings in a nursery was assessed at seven and 18 months of age. Frost damage at −15 °C was evaluated in laboratory at 18 months of age; proportion of plants that had left grass-stage and stage of shoot development was assessed at the age of 22 months. Significant differences among provenances (P < 0.0001) were detected for all of the evaluated characters. The variation among populations was structured as a moderate altitudinal cline, with populations from lower altitudes showing larger height growth in seedlings, larger proportion of frost damages, fewer seedlings in grass-stage and more seedlings with developed shoot, whereas in populations from higher altitudes, seedlings exhibiting shorter plant height, lower percentages of frost damage, more seedlings with unbroken grass-stage, and fewer seedlings with advanced shoot development were displayed. Options for seed and seedling movement along the altitudinal gradient are discussed under the scope of reforestation, aiming at ecological restoration, conservation of forest genetic resources, and assisted migration considering global warming. We suggest delineation of two altitudinal seed zones (Zone I: 3000–3350 m; Zone II: 3350–3700 m).  相似文献

Water deficit is an important constraint for wheat yield generation under Mediterranean environments. However, nitrogen (N) availability could limit yield in a more important way than poor water conditions. The aim of the work was to analyze, using the Ceres-Wheat crop simulation model, to what degree N fertilization constitutes a tool for reducing the gap between attainable and potential yield. Firstly, the model was calibrated and validated under a wide range of N and water conditions for the region of the Ebro Valley (NE Spain). Anthesis and maturity date were adequately predicted by the model. Predictions of yield tended to be quite accurate in general, though under severe water deficits precision was lower. We then assessed the gap between attainable and potential yield considering different N availabilities at sowing taking into account a weather database of 17 years for the location of Agramunt (NE Spain), representative of cereal growing conditions of the Mediterranean Catalonia. Potential yield ranged between 3.5 and 8.1 Mg ha−1. Variations in potential yield were explained by the duration of the period from sowing to anthesis and by the level of incident radiation during the period immediately previous to anthesis. Average attainable yield was 1.8 Mg ha−1 for N availability of 50 kgN ha−1; but increased to 2.8 Mg ha−1 for higher N availabilities (100–250 kgN ha−1). In the 25% of the worst years there was no effect of N availability on attainable yield. Increasing N availability beyond 100 kgN ha−1 generated a gain in yield only in 6% of the years. Variations between years in attainable yields were mainly explained by rainfall during the period from sowing to anthesis, whereas differences in attainable yield between N treatments increased with increases in rainfall. The gap between potential yield and attainable yield was higher in years with higher potential yield. On the other hand, the higher the attainable yield, the lower the gap. Thus, the proportion of the yield gap ascribed to N availability varied depending on the conditions of the growing season. In the high-yielding potential years, the main restriction for growth was water shortage, and fertilizing only slightly reduced the gap. Conversely, in rainy years characterized by low potential yields and mild water stresses, N management may constitute a simple tool for effectively reducing yield gap under rain-fed conditions.  相似文献

In this work, the concept of data fusion is applied to nondestructive testing data for classification of fresh intact tomatoes based on their ripening stages. A Bayesian classifier considering a multivariate, three-class problem was incorporated for data fusion. Probability of error was estimated numerically for univariate and multivariate cases based on Bhattacharyya distance. Numerical results showed that multi-sensorial data fusion reduces the classification error considerably. The Bayesian classifier was tested on data of tomato fruits taken by the following nondestructive tests: colorimeter and acoustic impact. Results of Bayesian classifier agree with numerical estimations showing an 11% classification error in the multivariate (multi-sensor) case compared with a 48% obtained by the univariate case (single sensor).  相似文献

The contents of antioxidant nutritional compounds, total soluble phenolics (TSP), vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, and total carotenoids (TC), were correlated with the total antioxidant capacity (AOC) of hydrophilic (HPE) and lipophilic extracts (LPE) from eight horticultural crops, namely, guava, avocado, black sapote, mango, papaya, prickly pear fruit, cladodes, and strawberry. AOC was measured using six different assays: 2,2'-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), N,N-dimethyl-p-phenylendiamine (DMPD), ferric-ion-reducing antioxidant power (FRAP), oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC), Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC), and total oxidant scavenging capacity (TOSC). AOC values from HPE were about 95 times higher than LPE values. HPE of guava had the highest AOC value when evaluated with DMPD, DPPH, FRAP, TEAC, and TOSC assays, whereas with ORAC assay, black sapote had the highest value. HPE of papaya and prickly pear fruit presented the lowest AOC values with all assays. From HPE, vitamin C and TSP contents were highly correlated with AOC for all assays, while from LPE, TC and beta-carotene contents possessed a high correlation with AOC only in the DMPD assay.  相似文献

This article explores the response of three genotypes of Amaranthus to different sowing date and to different doses of nitrogen (N) fertilization. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design with three replicates for cultivars, planting date and fertilization per treatment. Mexicano sown in early December had the best yield (5285?kg ha-1) with highly significant differences (p?<?0.001) respect to Dorado and Antorcha. To assess the N fertilization Mexicano cultivar was sown at the end of spring (1 December). Morphophysiological variables increased as the N fertilization dose was raised. Higher doses of N fertilizer resulted in greater economic yields this was mainly due to the increase in grain number rather than that of a 1000 grain weight. The results of this investigation suggest that sowing Amaranthus cruentus cv Mexicano on 1 December with 150?kg N ha?1 favors its general development and allows to obtain high economic and biological yields with an appropriate protein content.  相似文献

Grinding soil for analysis causes the destruction of aggregates and may expose adsorption sites that would not be available for adsorption in the soil with preserved structure. The study aimed to evaluate the adsorption of P in three soils with and without preserved structure, submitted to pig slurry (PS) application for a long time. Three soils (Acrisol, Ferralssol and Nitisol) with contrasting textures and P contents, with and without PS were selected and samples were collected with and without preserved structure in the 0–10 and 10–20 cm layers. The undisturbed soil columns were submitted to continuous flow, for 10–24 h, of 300 mg L?1 P solution and, at regular intervals, aliquots of the resulting solution were collected and the P content was determined. These data were adjusted exponential models to estimate the maximum adsorption of P. The maximum capacity of P adsorption of the soils were 1.4 to 14 times higher in the milled soil samples, making it clear that the destruction of the soil structure, and consequently the porosity and the preferential paths of percolation of the liquids in the soil leads to an overestimation of the soil capacity to adsorb the P applied to the surface.  相似文献

Under Mediterranean environments, farmers usually prefer to sow barley rather than wheat as it is generally believed that barley yields more under stressful conditions. As terminal stresses such as high temperature and water are common constraints in Mediterranean regions, higher grain weight stability may confer a clear advantage in order to maintain higher yields. The objective of the present study was to compare the stability in terms of grain weight and its components for barley, bread wheat, and durum wheat, exploring a wide range of nitrogen and water availabilities in experiments conducted in a Mediterranean region. Grain weight ranged from 23.8 to 47.7 mg grain−1, being higher for durum wheat than barley and bread wheat. Durum wheat presented higher variability both in maximum grain filling rate and duration of grain filling period than bread wheat or barley. The three species responded similarly in terms of grain nitrogen content to changes in the environmental conditions explored. It is concluded that in terms of grain weight barley is as stable as bread wheat. However, durum wheat presented a lower stability than barley and bread wheat.  相似文献

Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) represents one of the major threats to citrus production worldwide. In the East Adriatic region, CTV symptoms are mostly absent due to traditional citrus grafting on trifoliate orange (Poncirus trifoliata), a CTV-tolerant rootstock. Therefore, the virus has been continuously spreading by the propagation of infected material. The genetic variability of CTV was studied on nineteen citrus samples, collected from orchards in the coastal region of Croatia, Montenegro and Albania, that previously tested positive by ELISA and immunocapture RT-PCR. Single-strand conformation polymorphism of the amplified coat protein gene demonstrated the presence of different CTV variants in each amplicon, while sequence analysis of cloned CP gene variants confirmed their clustering into six out of the seven phylogenetic groups so far delineated. Four of these groups include sequences of severe quick decline, seedling yellows and stem-pitting (SP) isolates, thought to be found only rarely in the Mediterranean region. Regardless of the lack of symptoms in the field, CTV isolates from the East Adriatic displayed high genetic variability and pathogenic potential, additionally confirmed by biological characterisation. The high percentage of mixed infections suggest the potential for further diversification and a greater risk of severe variants spreading into new areas.  相似文献
