The distribution of zinc, manganese, copper, cobalt, and nickel in Andosols was investigated. Sixty nine soil samples were collected from different horizons of an Andosols profile in Miyakonojo Basin in south Kyushu, Japan, The total contents of heavy metals were determined by digestion and four extraction solutions, 1 M NH4Ac (ammonium acetate) pH 4.5, 0.1 M HCl, 0.01 M EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) pH 6.5, and 0.005 M DTPA (diethylenetri-aminepentaacetic acid) pH 7.3 were used to determine the contents of available Zn, Mn, Cu, Co, and Ni in Andosols in relation to the organic carbon content. The results of the extraction analysis showed that by the use of 0.1 M H Cl high value of extracted heavy metals in the upper layers of the humus horizons were obtained while EDTA extraction yielded a large amount of the above mentioned metals in the high humus horizons. The extractable heavy metals contents were high and these metals closely related to the organic carbon content mostly in the humus horizons in the profile. Where, biocycling process may play an important role in the concentration of heavy metals. Based on the study, it was found that the total content of Zn increased towards the C horizons or pumice layers in the soil profile. Such a trend was also found in the case of the Mn content. While the Cu content in the humus horizons was much higher in the upper part of each humus horizon. According to this study the distribution of heavy metals, Cu (organic matter complexes) in the Andosols profile was more stable than that of Zn (organic matter complexes) in soils. It was shown that Zn in the surface humus horizon was enriched but that some amount was leached under buried conditions. The same phenomenon was also observed in the distribution of Mn in the profile. The movement of Co and Ni in the soil profile was limited, as evidenced by the sharp reduction in the concentrations of these two metals in buried soils.

Hence, it is concluded that the distribution of Zn, Mn, Cu, Co, and Ni was considerably higher in the humus horizons of the Andosols profiles.  相似文献

After the disastrous incident of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, various agricultural, livestock and fishery products have been inspected for radioactive contamination with cesium in Japan. In this study, radioactive cesium was measured in various edible parts of cattle to verify the current inspection method for cattle, in which the neck tissues are generally used as samples. Radioactive cesium concentration in the short plate, diaphragm, liver, lung, omasum, abomasum and small intestine were lower and sirloin, tenderloin, top round meat and tongue were higher than that in the neck. There was no significant difference between the other organs (heart, kidney, lumen and reticulum) and the neck. Ninety‐five percent upper tolerance limits of the relative concentration to the neck were 1.88 for sirloin, 1.74 for tenderloin, 1.87 for top round and 1.45 for tongue. These results suggest that a safety factor of 2 is recommended for the radioactivity inspection of cattle to prevent a marketing of meat with higher cesium than the legal limit. Re‐inspection should be conducted using another part of muscle, for example, top round, when suspicious levels of 50–100 Bq/kg are detected in the neck.  相似文献

Rats were orally dosed with a 1:1 diastereomixture of N-[(R)-1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)ethyl]-2-cyano-3,3-dimethylbutanamide (Delaus, S-2900) and N-[(S)-1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)ethyl]-2-cyano-3,3-dimethylbutanamide (S-2900S), both labeled with 14C, at 200 mg/kg/day for 5 consecutive days, and 16 metabolites in urine and feces were purified by a combination of several chromatographic techniques. The chemical structures of all isolated metabolites were identified by spectroanalyses (NMR and MS). Several of them were unique decyanated and/or cyclic compounds (lactone, imide, cyclic amide, cyclic imino ether forms). Major biotransformation reactions of the mixture of S-2900 and S-2900S in rats are proposed on the basis of the metabolites identified in this study.  相似文献

Canopy photosynthetic capacity, measured as leaf maximum carboxylation rate (V (cmax)), is a key factor in ecosystem gas exchange models applied at different scales. We report seasonal and interannual variations in V(cmax) of natural beech stands (Fagus crenata Blume) along an altitudinal gradient in the temperate climate zone of Japan. Estimates are based on 6 years of gas exchange measurements. Pronounced seasonal and interannual variations in V(cmax) normalized to 25 degrees C (V(c,25)) were found for sun leaves. The seasonal pattern of V(c,25) generally followed an inverse parabolic curve, with an increase in spring, peak values in the middle of the growth period and a decline in autumn. Leaf nitrogen concentration (N(l)) and leaf mass per area were significantly related to V(c,25) during spring and summer, but were unrelated in autumn when V(c,25) declined. Annual peak V(c,25) ranged from 40.1 to 97.0 micromol m(-2) s(-1) and varied over as much as a twofold range at a particular site. Annual peak V(c,25) occurred about 28 days before annual peak N(l), with which it was poorly related. Our results show that it can be inappropriate to include constant values of photosynthetic parameters in ecosystem gas exchange models.  相似文献

A dead tree of Pinus armandii Franch. var. amamiana (Koidz.) Hatusima (abbreviated to PAAm) was obtained from a natural habitat on Tanega-shima Island and various properties of its wood were investigated. Grain angle was measured and soft X-ray analysis was undertaken to obtain the density in each annual ring. Unit shrinkage and dynamic properties were measured by shrinkage, bending, and compression tests. Variations of wood properties in the radial direction, relationships of wood properties to density, and annual ring width were examined. Roughly speaking, variations in the radial direction of the grain angle, twist angle by drying, Young’s modulus and strength in static bending, absorbed energy in impact bending, compressive Young’s modulus, compressive strength, and compressive proportional limit corresponded to the variation of annual ring width. As a result, it was determined that if PAAm is afforested artificially for the purposes of lumber production and conservation, the annual rings of logs should not be too widely spaced. Wood properties of PAAm were similar to those of Japanese black pine (Pinus thunbergii Parl.), which is another representative pine on Tanegashima Island. This study examined whether or not weight, density, and Young’s modulus can be accurately measured by vibration test without weighing beams for timber guardrails. Bending vibration tests with and without the concentrated mass were performed on small clear round bars without the pith of spruce and cedar and on actual size round bars with the pith of cedar for the timber guardrail. The following results were obtained. The vibration method with additional mass could be applied to the round bar as well as the rectangular bar. It is possible that resonance frequency was decreased by the sawn split in the horizontal tapping. It is believed that the free ends condition is easier to realize than the fixed ends condition for cross beams for timber guardrails. The weight of the cross beam for the timber guardrail could be accurately estimated by the vibration method with additional mass under several testing conditions.  相似文献

Agricultural fields in the middle Shira River basin play an important role as a source of groundwater recharge; however, the water balance between the agricultural water and river water is unclear. This study was conducted to investigate the water balance in the fields by measuring the stream flow of agricultural water channels, which draw water from the Shira River. The flow rate of water channels was found to increase in the beginning of May, which corresponded to the cultivation of paddy rice fields. During summer, the total agricultural intake was comparable to the river flow observed in the middle Shira River Basin. Determination of the water budget for the targeted area revealed that most of the recharged water was dependent on agricultural irrigation from the river. The annual recharge of the overall target area was estimated to be as high as 15,300 mm. In addition, the infiltration rate was as high as 170 mm/day in the paddy fields during summer, and as high as 30 mm/day in the upland fields during winter. In order to recover the groundwater recharge in this region, it is necessary to extend the submerged period to include periods in which the stream water in the Shira River is not subject to heavy rainfall as well.  相似文献

Wheat and barley are often cultivated also in paddy fields in winter in Japan. The drainage of paddy fields is often poor. The seedling establishment of wheat and barley is more prone to become poor if it rains heavily after sowing. The flooding damage on seedling establishment is thought to be caused by many factors. The generation of sulfide ions in flooded and reduced soil is thought to be one factor of the flooding damage. In this study, the effect of seed coating with molybdenum compounds, which suppress the generation of sulfide ions, on the flooding damage of wheat and barley seedling establishment. Two poorly soluble molybdenum compounds were coated on wheat or barley seeds at different amounts. Coated seeds were sown in soil and soon flooded for 2 d at 20 °C. When seeds were not coated with molybdenum compounds, rates of seedling establishment were no more than 32%. However, when any molybdenum compounds of .05–.5 mol-Mo kg?1 were coated, seedling establishment was significantly improved and rates of seedling establishment were no less than 54%. However, when sown seed were not flooded, the establishment rates of the seeds, which were coated with a molybdenum compound of no less than .1 or .2 mol-Mo kg-1, were significantly decreased. Accordingly, coating of molybdenum compounds could improve the seedling establishment of coated seeds under flooded condition, but might impair the seedling establishment of coated seeds under unflooded condition.  相似文献

The dominant N2O emission source in New Zealand, calculated using the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change methodology, is agricultural soils. The largest source of N2O emissions in New Zealand occurs as a result of excreta deposition onto pasture during grazing. There is a dearth of studies examining the effect of soil compaction and soil aggregate size on N2O emissions from urine patches in grazed pastures. In this study, we repacked soil cores with four different soil aggregate sizes (<1.0–5.6 mm diameter), applied bovine urine, and then subjected the soil cores to four levels of soil compaction. Fluxes of N2O were monitored for 37 days after which soil cores were allowed to dry out prior to a rewetting event. There was an interaction between aggregate size and soil compaction with the cumulative loss of N2O over the first 37 days ranging from 0.3% to 9.6% of the urine-N applied. The highest N2O emissions occurred from the smallest and most compacted aggregates. Even under the highest levels of compaction the N2O loss from the large aggregates (4.0–5.6 mm diameter) was <1% of the urine-N applied. Reasons for the observed differences in the N2O flux from the different-sized aggregates included varying gas diffusivities and higher rates of denitrification in the smallest aggregates, as evidenced by the disappearance of nitrate.  相似文献
