Leaf mold of tomato was found on cv. Momotaro-fight in 2003 in Ehime Prefecture. The symptoms were marginal indefinite yellowing on the upper leaf surface, and downy, gray to brown sporulation on the lower surface underneath the spots. The symptoms and morphology were the same as seen with Passalora fulva. The fungal isolates were identified as races 2.4, 2.4.11, 4, and 4.11 by inoculation tests. Races 4 and 4.11 have never before been found in Japan.  相似文献

ABSTRACT: The responses of enzyme activities and metabolic intermediate concentrations to a long burst of exercise and following resting were examined in muscle and the hepatopancreas of carp Cyprinus carpio . A 15 min burst of exercise made the fish so exhausted that they could not swim any more. In muscle, the exercise decreased glycogen content significantly and increased lactate content significantly, resulting in a lowered pH. Furthermore, the burst of exercise decreased phosphofructokinase (PFK) activity significantly, although it changed adenosine-5'-monophosphate, adenosine-5'-diphosphate, adenosine-5'-triphosphate, fructose-6-phosphate and citrate concentrations within ranges that could activate PFK. In the hepatopancreas, the exercise increased glucose-6-phosphatase and fructose-1,6-bis-phosphatase activities, and glucose and lactate concentrations in the serum, and it decreased glycogen content. Even at 3 h resting after the burst of exercise, the fish had not completely restored many parameters. These results suggest that although the fish tried to enhance in vivo muscular glycolysis through the activation of PFK by changes in metabolic intermediate concentrations, glycolysis seemed to decrease markedly through the inhibition of PFK as a result of the lowered pH. However, the hepatopancreas made a contribution to muscular exercise through glucose supplementation by enhanced gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis, indicating the presence of an interdependence of carbohydrate metabolism between muscle and the hepatopancreas in the fish.  相似文献

The hydration behavior and strength performance of cement mixed with exploded wood fiber strand (WFS) obtained by the water-vapor explosion process have been studied previously. In the current study, the microstructural characteristics of cement–exploded WFS interfacial zone were examined using scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS). The Ca/Si ratios at the interfacial zones and the elemental compositions of hydration products deposited in the tracheid lumen were investigated. In addition, the morphological differences and compositional variations of hydration products that developed on the wood surfaces were examined. The results revealed that the Ca/Si ratios at the interfacial zones were strongly influenced by the mixture compositions, and that the elemental compositions of the hydration products that filled the tracheid lumen were significantly different from those of the cement paste in the mixtures. Differences in morphology and composition of hydration products at the wood surfaces were also observed to correspond to the different mixture compositions. These characteristics are considered to be directly related to the bond property, and thus, to the mechanical performance of WCM.Part of this report was presented at the 53rd Annual Meeting of the Japan Wood Research Society, Fukuoka, March 2003  相似文献

Five Japanese timbers, four timbers from the USA, and one Malaysian timber were evaluated for their resistance to the invasive dry-wood termite Incisitermes minor (Hagen) using laboratory choice and no-choice feeding tests with holed specimens. The highest survival rates of I. minor in both the heartwood and sapwood no-choice feeding tests were more than 70% after 3 months. When offered sapwood and heartwood choice feeding tests and the combined choice feeding tests, the highest survival rates of I. minor were more than 75% after 3 months. With regards to the percentage of wood mass losses in the no-choice and choice feeding tests, karamatsu (Larix leptolepsis), buna (Fagus crenata), and Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) were classified as “resistant” species among the ten sapwood specimens. In the heartwood no-choice and choice feeding tests, the resistant species were buna, karamatsu, Douglas fir, sugi (Cryptomeria japonica), akamatsu (Pinus densiflora), and western red cedar (Thuja plicata). The ranking of the resistance of the ten commercial timbers against I. minor was buna > karamatsu > sugi > western red cedar > Douglas fir > rubber > western hemlock > hinoki > spruce.  相似文献

Epidural spinal myelolipoma was diagnosed in a 13-year-old, male Siberian husky that was referred for evaluation of progressive pelvic limb paresis and urinary incontinence. An epidural mass was detected by magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography. The mass was removed and identified histopathologically as an epidural myelolipoma. Pelvic limb paresis improved after surgery, but urinary retention associated with neurological bladder dysfunction persisted.  相似文献

Canine ovarian tumors (epithelial tumor, sex-cord stromal tumor, germ cell tumor) classifying into 9 histological types were examined immunohistochemically using placental alkaline phosphatase (PLAP), cytokeratin7 (CK7), desmin, S100, AE1/AE3, inhibin alpha, vimentin, and alfa feto-protein (AFP). The papillary and tubular types observed in epithelial tumors were immunoreactive for desmin and AE1/AE3. The papillary type was also immunoreactive for PLAP and CK7. The solid type, nest type, cord type, palisade type, cystic type and spindle type, which were observed in sex-cord stromal tumors, showed a positive immunoreaction for S100 but little or no positive immunoreaction for inhibin alpha with an exception of positive result in the palisade type. Most of the sex-cord stromal tumors were AE1/AE3-positive except for the palisade type. In the cobblestone type observed in germ cell tumors, only vimentin and AFP were positive. The present study elucidated the detailed histological and immunohistochemical characteristics of canine ovarian tumors.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To compare the interaction of endogenous ADP with collagen and thromboxane A(2) (TXA(2)) during collagen-induced platelet aggregation between platelets from healthy cattle and those with Chediak-Higashi syndrome (CHS). POPULATION SAMPLE: Platelets harvested from blood samples from healthy Japanese Black cattle and those with CHS. PROCEDURES: Aggregation of gel-filtered platelets; release of ATP-ADP; and generation of thromboxane B(2) (TXB(2)), a metabolite of TXA(2), were measured. RESULTS: The potency of collagen to induce aggregation in platelets of cattle with CHS (ie, CHS platelets) was less than a tenth of that in platelets of healthy cattle (ie, control platelets). Platelet aggregation induced by collagen at an intermediate concentration depended on the coexistence of ADP and TXA(2), suggesting that released ADP cannot cause platelet aggregation by itself. Collagen-induced ADP release was markedly decreased, whereas TXB(2) production was slightly low in CHS platelets, compared with that in control platelets. A combination of subthreshold amounts of ADP and 9,11-dideoxy-9alpha, 11alpha-methano-epoxy-prostaglandin F(2) (U46619), a TXA(2) analogue, caused platelet aggregation. Similarly, a combination of subthreshold amounts of collagen and ADP caused platelet aggregation, whereas collagen and U46619 were not synergistic. CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Deficient ADP release ensuing from the delta-storage pool deficiency in platelets from cattle with CHS resulted in reduction of collagen-induced platelet aggregation, through attenuation of synergism between TXA(2) and ADP and between ADP and collagen. Furthermore, results of the study reported here indicated that TXA(2) was important for aggregation of bovine platelets.  相似文献

To clarify the immunohistochemical characteristics of canine ovarian cysts, 109 canine ovarian cysts (57 cysts of subsurface epithelial structures: SES, 26 graafian follicle cysts, 12 cystic rete ovarii and 14 cysts difficult to classify morphologically) were examined regarding their lining cells immunohistochemically using antibodies against placental alkaline phosphatase (PLAP), S100, inhibin alpha, desmin and AE1/AE3. Both cysts of SES and cystic rete ovarii had a positive immunoreaction to desmin and AE1/AE3, whereas all cysts all but graafian follicle cysts were negative for inhibin alpha. PLAP-positive immunoreaction was observed only in cysts of SES. Graafian follicle cysts had a positive immunoreaction to inhibin alpha, but were negative for PLAP, desmin and AE1/AE3. Fourteen cysts were difficult to classify morphologically because these cysts had single-squamous lining cells and lacked other morphological characteristics. However, these unclassified cysts were immunohistochemically divided into two groups, including positive and negative cysts, by the reactivity of PLAP. The PLAP-positive cysts were considered large cysts of SES. These results suggest that PLAP was a useful marker for classification of cysts of SES, although cysts originating from SES are not always positive for this antigen.  相似文献

The production of transparent exopolymer particles (TEP) by four diatoms, Coscinodiscus granii, Eucampia zodiacus, Rhizosolenia setigera, and Skeletonema sp., was examined. Most of the TEP in C. granii (74% of the maximum) were produced during the growth phase. In contrast, most of the TEP in E. zodiacus (73%), R. setigera (74%), and Skeletonema sp. (70%) were produced during the stationary and declining phases. The C. granii TEP production rate was highest in the growth phase, whereas those in E. zodiacus, R. setigera, and Skeletonema sp. were highest in the stationary–decline phase. The TEP concentrations per cell and the cell volume of C. granii were 34.97 ± 4.114 (mean ± SD) ng Xeq./cell (xanthan gum equivalents per cell) and 341.6 ± 56.33 fg Xeq./μm3, and were 23.01 and 4.32 times higher than the values obtained from the other three diatoms, respectively. The results suggest that the mechanisms of TEP production differ with growth stage and diatom species. Therefore, it is likely that the differences in TEP production among the diatom species influence the complexity of TEP dynamics in aquatic environments.  相似文献

A feeding experiment was conducted to examine the effect of a supplemental ethanol extract from a defatted soybean meal on the biliary bile status and intestinal conditions of rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss . A semi-purified control diet based on casein (Cont) and three diets supplemented with the extract (ES), bovine bile salts (BS) and their combination (ESBS) were fed to trout (10 g) for 6 weeks. The growth, feed efficiency ratio, fat digestibility and gallbladder- and hepato-somatic indices of fish fed diet ES decreased. Compared with this group, these parameters were improved in fish fed diet ESBS. The total biliary bile salt content was the lowest in fish fed diet ES and this group had a high proportion of chenodeoxycholyltaurine. The inclusion of the bile salts to diet ES (diet ESBS) increased the total biliary bile salt content. A similar trend was observed in the bile salt concentration of intestinal digesta. Although morphological changes occurred in epithelial cells of the distal intestine of fish fed diet ES, the histological features of fish fed diet ESBS were similar to those of fish fed diet Cont. These results indicate that alcohol-soluble substances of soybean meal cause physiological changes in the biliary bile and intestine of rainbow trout.  相似文献
