Thirty-two phenolic compounds of low molecular weight were identified in 36 white, blanc de noir, and rosé sparkling wines by using HPLC with photodiode array and mass spectrometry detection. Some of the identified compounds, such as cis- and trans-ethylcaftaric, cis- and trans-ethylcaffeic, and cis- or trans-ethyl-p-coumaric acids, 2R,3R-dihydroquercetin, 2R,3R-dihydrokaempferol 3-O-beta-d-glucoside, and a lignan derivative are described for the first time in sparkling wines manufactured with grapes of red varieties. This is also the first time that cis- or trans-diethylfertaric acids have been identified in wines. When cluster analysis was applied to the data of 19 of the 32 identified compounds, the greatest differences found in the low molecular weight phenolic compounds in sparkling wines were due to the grape variety from which they were manufactured, whereas aging time did not significantly influence phenolic composition. Nine phenolic compounds, that is, trans-p-coumaric and trans-caftaric acids, trans-resveratrol glucoside, cis-coutaric, trans-coutaric, cis-p-coumaric, and cis-caftaric acids, tryptophol, and syringic acid, permit the wines to be classified correctly in accordance with the grape variety from which they were manufactured. 相似文献

Since xylanases can differ widely in their bleaching efficiency, the performance of one new and two commercial xylanases was
evaluated in an eucalyptus kraft pulp following XD (X: xylanase; D: chlorine dioxide) and XP (P: hydrogen peroxide) sequences.
The new xylanase did not show a significant bleach boosting effect but increased the hexenuronic acid (HexA) removal by 10%
after the D stage. The two commercial xylanases behaved in a different way, being one of them (XC) the most effective in increasing delignification (9%) and brightness (3%ISO). Its effectiveness was related to its greater
action on releasing the xylan polymer, thus producing also a strong decrease in the HexA contents during the enzymatic stage
(15%). All xylanases produced morphological changes in the fibre surfaces, but only with XC cracks and holes that improved the diffusion of reactives were observed. Finally, the best bleaching results were obtained

Fuel treatment of wildland vegetation is the primary approach advocated for mitigating fire risk at the wildland-urban interface (WUI), but little systematic research has been conducted to understand what role fuel treatments play in controlling large fires, which factors influence this role, or how the role of fuel treatments may vary over space and time. We assembled a spatial database of fuel breaks and fires from the last 30 years in four southern California national forests to better understand which factors are consistently important for fuel breaks in the control of large fires. We also explored which landscape features influence where fires and fuel breaks are most likely to intersect. The relative importance of significant factors explaining fuel break outcome and number of fire and fuel break intersections varied among the forests, which reflects high levels of regional landscape diversity. Nevertheless, several factors were consistently important across all the forests. In general, fuel breaks played an important role in controlling large fires only when they facilitated fire management, primarily by providing access for firefighting activities. Fire weather and fuel break maintenance were also consistently important. Models and maps predicting where fuel breaks and fires are most likely to intersect performed well in the regions where the models were developed, but these models did not extend well to other regions, reflecting how the environmental controls of fire regimes vary even within a single ecoregion. Nevertheless, similar mapping methods could be adopted in different landscapes to help with strategic location of fuel breaks. This study presents the effects of soaking, cooking and industrial dehydration on the phenolic profile, and antioxidant capacity
in two chickpea varieties (Sinaloa and Castellano). Chromatographic analysis identified a total of 24 phenolic components,
being isoflavones the main phenolics in raw and processed Sinaloa and Castellano flours. The impact of the industrial dehydration
was different depending on the chickpea variety. Although Castellano chickpea exhibited the highest levels of phenolic compounds
(103.1 μg/g), significant reductions were observed during processing; in contrast, the dehydration did not cause any further
effects in Sinaloa flours. Interestingly, Sinaloa variety showed high thermal stability of isoflavones during processing.
As expected, the levels of antioxidant capacity were in accordance with the behavior of phenolic compounds exhibiting noticeable
reductions in Castellano chickpea and not relevant changes in Sinaloa chickpea. Thus, the significant occurrence of bioactive
phenolic compounds along with the relevant antioxidant capacities of dehydrated chickpea flours make them to be considered

The Escumite bean (Phaseolus acutifolius) is an edible legume which in raw form is highly toxic to rats. Proteins were separated by DEAE cellulose and affinity chromatography. Hemagglutinating activity, trypsin inhibitory effect, cytotoxicity on human peripheral lymphocytes and on intestinal epithelial cells of rats, and mitogenic activity were assayed with each protein fraction. Hemagglutinins and trypsin inhibitory fractions showed differential toxicity with lymphocytes as compared to intestinal epithelial cells. Background, Aims and Scope Phytoremediation is a promising means for the treatment of heavy metal contamination. Although several species have been identified
as hyperaccumulators, most studies have been conducted with only one metal. Experiments were conducted to investigate the
ability of Helianthus annuus and Thlaspi caerulescens to simultaneously uptake Cd, Cr and Ni.
Materials and Methods The efficiency of plants grown in a sandy-loam soil was investigated. The ability of two EDTA concentrations (0.1 and 0.3
g kg−1) for enhancing the phytoremediation of Cd, Cr and Ni at two different metal concentrations (24.75 mg kg−1 and 90 mg kg−1) was studied.
Results
Thlaspi hyperaccumulated Ni with 0.1 g kg−1 EDTA. When the EDTA dosage was increased to 0.3 g kg−1, Thlaspi was able to hyperaccumulate both Ni and Cr. Since Thlaspi is a low-biomass plant, it was considered insufficient for full-scale applications. Helianthus annuus hyperacummulated Cr (with 0.1 g kg−1 EDTA) and Cd (0.3 g kg−1 EDTA).
Discussion When the contamination was 8.25 mg kg−1 per metal, the total metal uptake was 10–25% (1.35 to 2.12 mg) higher and had the same uptake selectivity (Cr>>Cd>Ni) for
both EDTA levels. It was hypothesized that complexation with EDTA interfered with Ni translocation. For these experiments,
the optimal results were obtained with the H. annuus-0.1 g kg−1 EDTA combination.
Conclusions Although the use of EDTA did increase the amount of metal that could be extracted, care should be taken during in-situ field
applications. Chelators can also increase the amount of metals that are leached past the root zone. Metal leaching and subsequent
migration could lead to ground water contamination as well as lead to new soil contamination.
Recommendations and Perspectives Additional research to identify the optimal EDTA dosage for field applications is warranted. This is necessary to ensure that
the metals do not leach past the root zone.
Identification of a plant that can hyperaccumulate multiple metals is critical for phytoremediation to be a viable remediation
alternative. In addition to being able to hyperaccumulate multiple metals, the optimal plant must be fast growing with sufficient
biomass to sequester the heavy metals. 相似文献

The purpose of this work was to develop a PCR method for the identification of smoked paprika "Pimento?n de la Vera" adulteration with paprika elaborated from varieties of pepper foreign to the la Vera region, in central western Spain. Three autochthonous varieties of pepper, Jaranda, Jariza, and Bola, and the varieties Papri Queen, Papri King, Sonora, PS9794, and Papri Ace, foreign to the La Vera region, were used in the study. Analyses of the ITS and 5.8S rDNA, RAPD-PCR, SSR, and ISSR were tested. RAPD-PCR, SSR, and ISSR analyses allowed differentiation among the varieties of paprika analyzed. There was no difference in the sequence of ITS1-5.8S rDNA-ITS2. In addition, with the RAPD-PCR primers S13 and S22, two molecular markers were obtained of 641 and 704 bp, respectively, which allowed all of the smoked paprika varieties to be differentiated from paprikas elaborated with the five foreign varieties. These two molecular markers were investigated as a basis for detecting the adulteration of smoked paprika with paprika elaborated from foreign varieties of pepper. 相似文献

A capillary zone electrophoresis method for the determination of inorganic anions and formic acid in honey samples was developed for the first time. The complete separation of chloride, nitrate, sulfate, phosphate, and formic acid was achieved with a simple electrolyte composed by 2 mM potassium dichromate as the carrier solution and background absorbance provider and 0.05 mM tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA) as electro-osmotic flow suppressor (pH 4.00). Injection was performed hydrostatically by elevating the sample at 10 cm for 10 s. The running voltage was -27 kV at 25 degrees C. Indirect UV absorption detection was achieved at 254 nm. The detection limit was in the range between 0.03 and 20 mg/kg, and the quantification limits ranged from 1.52 to 20.6 mg/kg. The calibration graphs were linear in the concentration range from the quantification limit to at least 2.5 g/kg for chloride, 0.25 g/kg for nitrate, 0.75 g/kg for sulfate, 1.50 g/kg for phosphate, and 0.75 g/kg for formic acid. Precision data in the honey samples analyzed showed repeatability and reproducibility relative standard deviations lower than 1.4 and 2.4% for migration time and lower than 1.8 and 4.3% for anion content, respectively. Recoveries of anions in honey samples analyzed ranged from 94.4 to 99.8%. Ten honey samples were analyzed to test the proposed method. Mean contents of 260.5, 3.93, 60.5, 139.4, and 209.3 mg/kg were found, respectively, for chloride, nitrate, sulfate, phosphate, and formic acid in analyzed honeys. The potential of Fourier transform mid-infrared spectroscopy (FT-MIR) using an attenuated total reflectance (ATR) cell was evaluated for the authentication of 11 unifloral (acacia, alpine rose, chestnut, dandelion, heather, lime, rape, fir honeydew, metcalfa honeydew, oak honeydew) and polyfloral honey types (n = 411 samples) previously classified with traditional methods such as chemical, pollen, and sensory analysis. Chemometric evaluation of the spectra was carried out by applying principal component analysis and linear discriminant analysis, the error rates of the discriminant models being calculated by using Bayes' theorem. The error rates ranged from <0.1% (polyfloral and heather honeys as well as honeydew honeys from metcalfa, oak, and fir) to 8.3% (alpine rose honey) in both jackknife classification and validation, depending on the honey type considered. This study indicates that ATR-MIR spectroscopy is a valuable tool for the authentication of the botanical origin and quality control and may also be useful for the determination of the geographical origin of honey. 相似文献

The enzymatic activity, subcellular localization, and immunolocalization of plant lipoxygenase (LOX) in strawberry fruits (Fragaria x ananassa, Duch) were investigated. Chemical and enzymatic properties of LOX have been characterized, and the LOX capability of oxygenating free and esterified unsaturated fatty acids into C6 volatile aldehydes has been confirmed. Fruits at unripe, turning, and ripe stages were analyzed for LOX activity and protein localization by Western blots, two-dimensional electrophoresis, and immunolocalization analyses. The ability of strawberry tissues to in vivo metabolize linolenic acid or linoleic acid into C6 volatile aldehydes and the LOX products was also analyzed. Analysis of strawberry proteins showed that a number of LOX forms, corresponding to at least two mobility groups of approximately 100 and 98 kDa and pI values ranging between 4.4 and 6.5, were present. Confocal and electron microscopy analyses support the idea that LOX proteins are associated to lipid-protein aggregates. Both exogenously supplied linoleate and linolenate were converted into hexanal and trans-2-hexenal at the three fruit-ripening stages. Our experiments suggest the presence of different LOX isoforms in strawberry fruits and that the lipoxygenase-hydroperoxide lyase pathway plays a role in converting lipids to C6 volatiles during ripening. 相似文献
