The spectrum of water vapor is of fundamental importance for a variety of processes, including the absorption and retention of sunlight in Earth's atmosphere. Therefore, there has long been an urgent need for a robust and accurate predictive model for this spectrum. In our work on the high-resolution spectrum of water, we report first-principles calculations that approach experimental accuracy. To achieve this, we performed exceptionally large electronic structure calculations and considered a variety of effects, including quantum electrodynamics, which have routinely been neglected in studies of small many-electron molecules. The high accuracy of the resulting ab initio procedure is demonstrated for the main isotopomers of water.  相似文献

The effect of progressive phosphorylation by phosphorous oxychloride upon the conformation of the 300 kDa storage protein (cruciferin) from rapeseed has been studied using chemical analysis, SDS-PAGE, HPLC, analytical ultracentrifugation, viscometry, fluorescence spectroscopy, and hydrophobicity measurement. The amount of phosphorous in the protein increased with the excess of phosphorous oxychloride and the pH of reaction. The bulk of phosphorus was only loosely bound to the protein and was removed by washing with cold perchloric acid. The more stably bound phosphorus groups after reaction at pH 8 were found to be nearly equally attached to amino and hydroxyl groups, whereas phosphorylation at pH 10-11 led to predominant O-phosphorylation as detected by studying the acid- and alkali-lability of the protein-phosphorous bonds. A 50 kDa component appeared as a product of covalent cross-linking of the constituent alpha- and beta-polypeptide chains. A 2.5S fraction appeared as the main product of dissociation, which takes place after a critical step of modification. The higher the extent of phosphorylation, the larger was the percentage of higher molecular weight products, the percentage of which was most significant after modification under strongly alkaline conditions. They may be attributed both to products of chemical cross-linking and to noncovalently linked aggregates formed by interactions of partially unfolded derivatives exhibiting an increased surface hydrophobicity.  相似文献

Studies on the contents of breeding boxes made in the pine forests of Geisenfeld in former times as well in 1982 showed a high per cent (62.5%) of singing bird settlement within boxes having an oval hole of entrance (Tab. 1). Three species of titmice (Coal-, Great- and Crested Tit) strongly predominated. They showed only small change in density between 1976 and 1982 whereas the Nuthatch (Sitta europaea) and the Tree Creeper (Certhia familiaris) doubled their density in this time due to the enlargement of breeding room in the boxes (Sitta) resp. to the introduction of a new type of boxes (Certhia, “Korridorkasten”, Abb. 3, 4). The boxes with a little round hole showed poor results and seem to be unnessary. In the bird and bat boxes five species of bats were found, the Long-eared Bat beeing the most frequent of them, followed by Bechstein's Bat, Natterer's Bat, Great Bat and Large Mouse-eared Bat (Tab. 2). The so called Issel bat boxes (Abb. 1) did'nt contain more bats than the bird boxes (ca. 5%). The so called Schwegler bat boxes (Abb. 2) were without any bats. Both, Issel's and Schwegler's bat boxes were strongly occupied by wasps (Tab. 1). Best results showed the new “Korridorkasten”, 11.6% of them containing bats and further 23.2% containing bat excrements. The new type of boxes seems to be an interesting combination of Tree Creeper- and bat-box thus favouring two sensitive members of the wood ecosystem together. The studies including a further new type of bat boxes (Abb. 5) are continued in summer of 1983.  相似文献
