Objective
To investigate changes in serum cardiac troponin I (cTnI) concentrations in dogs in which medetomidine was used for sedation or for premedication prior to anaesthesia with propofol and sevoflurane.Study design
Prospective clinical study.Animals
A total of 66 client-owned dogs.Methods
The dogs were sedated with medetomidine (0.04 mg kg?1) intravenously (IV) (group M; n = 20) and left to breath room air or anaesthetized with propofol (6.5 ± 0.76 mg kg?1 IV) and sevoflurane (4.5% vaporizer setting) in oxygen (group P + S; n = 20) or with medetomidine (0.04 mg kg?1 IV), propofol (1.92 ± 0.63 mg kg?1) and sevoflurane (3% vaporizer setting) in oxygen (group M + P + S; n = 26), respectively. After 35 minutes, medetomidine was antagonized with atipamezole (0.1 mg kg?1 intramuscularly). Blood samples for serum cTnI determination were taken before sedation or anaesthesia, 6 and 12 hours and 4 days thereafter. Serum cTnI concentrations were measured with the Architect STAT Troponin-I assay. Results
Before sedation or anaesthesia, cTnI concentrations were above the detection limit in 22 out of 66 (33%) of dogs. Compared to basal values, cTnI concentrations significantly increased at 6 and 12 hours in all groups and at day 4 in group M. There were no differences in cTnI concentration between groups at baseline, at 6 hours and at 4 days. At 12 hours, cTnI concentrations were significantly higher in groups M and P + S, respectively, compared to group M + P + S.Conclusions and clinical relevance
Oxygenation during anaesthesia and reduction of propofol and sevoflurane dose due to the sparing effects of medetomidine might have played a role in alleviation of myocardial hypoxic injury as indicated by the less severe and short-lived increase of cTnI in the M + P + S group. 相似文献22.

The efficiency of the photocatalytic degradation of the herbicide quinmerac in aqueous TiO2 suspensions was examined as a function of the type of light source, TiO2 loading, pH, temperature, electron acceptors, and hydroxyl radical (?OH) scavenger. The optimum loading of catalyst was found to be 0.25?mg?mL?1 under UV light at pH?7.2, with the apparent activation energy of the reaction being 13.7?kJ?mol?1. In the first stage of the reaction, the photocatalytic degradation of quinmerac (50???M) followed approximately a pseudo-first order kinetics. The most efficient electron acceptor appeared to be H2O2 along with molecular oxygen. By studying the effect of ethanol as an ?OH scavenger, it was shown that the heterogeneous catalysis takes place mainly via ?OH. The results also showed that the disappearance of quinmerac led to the formation of a number of organic intermediates and ionic byproducts, whereas its complete mineralization occurred in about 120?min. The reaction intermediates (7-chloro-3-methylquinoline-5,8-dione, three isomeric phenols hydroxy-7-chloro-3-methylquinoline-8-carboxylic acids, and 7-chloro-3-(hydroxymethyl)quinoline-8-carboxylic acid) were identified and the kinetics of their appearance/disappearance was followed by LC?CESI?CMS/MS. Tentative photodegradation pathways were proposed and discussed. The study also encompassed the effect of quality of natural water on the rate of removal of quinmerac. 相似文献

Since 2011, the outbreaks of brown rot caused by Ralstonia solanacearum race 3, biovar 2, phylotype IIB-1 (R3/B2/PIIB-1) have significantly compromised potato production in Serbia. During 6 years of monitoring (2013–2018) among 3,524 potato tuber samples, 344 were found positive for brown rot disease. R. solanacearum R3/B2/PIIB-1 was isolated from seven cultivars among 12 monitored, and in five localities among 17 monitored. Cultivar Lady Claire was found to have the highest disease frequency (31.98%). A total of 78 isolates were identified by R. solanacearum-specific primer pairs (PS-1/PS-2 and OLI-1/Y-2), as well as the following tests: restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis, biovar determination, immunofluorescence, biochemical analysis, and pathogenicity. The genetic composition of 36 selected isolates assessed using multilocus sequence analysis with seven genes (adk, gapA, gdhA, gyrB, ppsA, hrpB, and fliC) showed that all isolates originating from Serbian potato were homogeneous. By using the TCS algorithm of concatenated sequences to get insight into the phylogeography of isolates and other R. solanacearum strains deposited in the NCBI database, we showed that their origin is undetermined. Peroxidase (POD) activity was measured in brown rotted potato tubers. A positive correlation was found between POD activity and disease severity rated on the analysed tubers. In general, POD activity increased by 2–22 times in vascular necrotic tissues compared to non-necrotic ones, and depended on disease severity but not on cultivar. Native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis analysis of POD profiles resulted in a total of 10 distinct POD isoforms, of which PODs 3–5 were highly intensified in response to R. solanacearum. 相似文献

Tomato leafminer Tuta absoluta was detected for the first time in Montenegro using pheromone traps in the middle of July 2010, in greenhouses in one location at the Montenegrin sea coast. In the period from the end of July to the first week of August, moths were captured in pheromone traps from other locations along the sea coast and surroundings of the city of Podgorica. According to the survey carried out by the authors from July to September 2010, T. absoluta was present in greenhouses in all tomato‐producing areas, while outdoors it was found only in the coastal area. Monitoring of T. absoluta continued in 2011. Pheromone traps were set up in five locations in the main tomato‐producing areas, both in greenhouses and outdoors, between 4 and 15 May. The first captured moths were detected after 7–15 days in all inspected locations, and captures continued until the end of September. According to the number of captured moths and the damage observed, it can be concluded that the population level in 2011 was lower in comparison with 2010, when up to 100% losses were detected in tomato crops in several locations. In 2011, tomato producers were already being informed about the pest and means of control, so most of them applied cultural and chemical control measures. 相似文献

Purpose
A small-scale bioremediation assay was developed in order to get insight into the functioning of a polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) degrading community during the time course of bioremediation treatment of a contaminated soil. The study was conducted with the aim to better understand the key mechanisms involved in PCB-removal from soils. 相似文献29.

Apple proliferation (AP), a phytoplasma-induced disease of apple trees, was proven to be transmitted through infected grafting
material and sap-sucking insects. To date there are little firm data on disease propagation in the field via natural root
grafts. This question was thus addressed in the present case study by investigating trees of a 24-year old commercial apple
orchard (‘Red Chief’ on MM 111), where the existence of root connections was discovered accidentally. After having displayed
specific AP symptoms, nine trees were cut down and the stubs were infiltrated or brushed with glyphosate. Herbicide injury,
however, remained not only restricted to the treated stubs, but also spread to approximately 50 neighbouring trees. Surprisingly,
none of the pollinators (‘Granny Smith’ on M 9) growing interjacently and alternating between herbicide-damaged main crop
trees was affected. Respective to the position of the nine AP-infected and glyphosate-treated cut stumps, four sections in
the orchard were defined, from which a total of 122 trees was sampled and analysed using qualitative real-time PCR for detection
of AP phytoplasma. The pathogen was found in 71.4% of ‘Red Chief’ trees with severe herbicide damage and 18.8% of trees with
partial herbicide damage. None of the 31 investigated pollinators was AP-infected. Our data indicate that root connections
seem to play a role for the spread of AP phytoplasma at least in older orchards and between trees on vigorous rootstocks. 相似文献
