Neural transplantation is one of the most promising treatments for neurodegenerative disorders. Survival rates of embryonic dopamine (DA) neurons following transplantation are low, between 2% and 20% in a number of animal models. To further establish survival changes of the transplanted gestational day 13.5 ventral mesencephalic (VM) cells into left intact adult rat striata so that design strategies of increasing survival of DA neurons, the tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) expression of VM-derived progenitor cells has been examined using immunohistochemistry and Western blot analysis. TH immunostaining revealed that the grafted VM cells developed to mature TH-positive neurons strongly at 3 weeks, peaked at 4 weeks, thereafter, gradually dropped following the degenerative expression of the grafted cells at both 5 and 6 weeks after transplantation. Western blot analysis also showed that the TH proteins were maximally expressed at 4 weeks post-grafting. Our finding suggested that the peak of surviving VM-derived TH positive cells occurred approximately 4 weeks after transplantation. 相似文献

We comprehensively evaluated meat quality in chickens fed a diet consisting of wood charcoal and vinegar (WCV) using food scientific and histological approaches. In culled hens, lipid and fatty acid in Musculus semimembranosus, cooking loss and sensory tests of whole thigh meat, and meat texture of breast meat were observed. In male broilers, cross section of M. semimembranosus was used for observations on muscle area, perimysium, non‐collagen total protein and total collagen content, and anti‐collagen I and III reactions. In frozen male broilers, conventional morphology of M. semimembranosus as well as chicken anti‐collagen III reaction to selected muscles of thigh meat and breast meat were compared between the control and WCV‐fed birds. Increased lipid and fatty acids, decreased cooking loss, high score in total evaluation for sensory test of thigh meat, and decreased meat texture values were observed for culled hens fed WCV. The higher values of muscle area, total collagen and collagen III were observed for broilers fed WCV. No perimysium collapse for M. semitendinosus or increased collagen III reactions of M. tensor fasciae latae, the flexor muscle group and M. pectoralis superficialis were observed for frozen muscles in the WCV group. These total results suggest that WCV produces palatable and tender meat by increasing collagen III. 相似文献

Phenolic extractives in the trunk of Toxicodendron vernicifluum (syn. Rhus verniciflua) were investigated. Seventeen compounds, gallic acid, protocatechuic acid, (?)-fisetinidol-4β-ol, (?)-fisetinidol-4α-ol, 2-benzyl-2,6,3′,4′-tetrahydroxycoumaran-3-one, (?)-fustin, 1,2,3,6-Tetra-O-galloyl-β-d-glucose, (?)-epifustin, (+)-taxifolin, 1,2,3,4,6-penta-O-galloyl-β-d-glucose, (?)-garbanzol, (?)-fustin-3-O-gallate, (?)-epifustin-3-O-gallate, fisetin, sulfuretin, quercetin and butein, were identified from the heartwood extractives. It was found that only (+)-taxifolin which had 5,7-dihydroxy A-ring possessed a 3R configuration although other flavonoids which had 7-hydroxy A-ring possessed a 3S configuration. Quantitative analysis revealed that the total phenolic contents were much higher in the heartwood (5–7 wt%) than in the sapwood and bark (1–2 wt%), and (?)-fustin was the most abundant extractive in the heartwood (1.4–2.4 wt%). For the radial distribution of phenolic extractives, it was generally found that their content was lowest in the sapwood, increased to the highest in the outer heartwood, and then decreased in the inner heartwood. 相似文献

Fifty-one laboratories from 14 countries participated in a survey on the determination of selenium (Se) in 8 bovine blood samples with Se concentrations ranging from 0.2 mumol/L (0.016 microgram/mL) to 14 mumol/L (1.1 micrograms/mL). The methods used (and the percentage of participants using each method) were fluorometry (61), hydride-generation atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) (23), graphite-furnace AAS (6), gas chromatography (4), neutron activation analysis (4), and X-ray fluorometry (2). There was little difference in the mean Se results obtained by fluorometry or hydride-generation AAS (P greater than 0.05). Mean intralaboratory coefficients of variation (CVs) from known replicates ranged from 4 to 14% for all samples. Interlaboratory CVs were related to blood Se concentration and increased to 55% at Se levels below 0.4 mumol/L (0.032 microgram/mL). Laboratories that used quality control (QC) schemes had lower interlaboratory CVs than those that did not, but the advantage began to diminish at blood Se concentration below 0.4 mumol/L (0.032 microgram/mL). The high interlaboratory CVs, coupled with the false assurance from the low intralaboratory CVs and the ineffectiveness of the QC schemes at blood Se concentrations below 0.4 mumol/L (0.032 microgram/mL), are of concern in diagnosis of marginal Se deficiency in livestock where the concentrations of interest are in the range 0.15-0.5 mumol/L (0.012-0.039 microgram/mL). 相似文献

The dye-resist effect of reactive dye-resist agents in acid dyeing of silk was investigated. The dye-resist agent containing
dichlorotriazine achieved a higher resist effectiveness than others since they make a charge barrier against diffusion in
the silk fiber periphery due to the high reactivity of dichlorotriazine group. Especially, the increase in the number of ionic
groups in acid dyes leads to better electrostatic repulsion of reactive dye resist agent treated silk and thus improves the

Dyeing and color fastness properties of a reactive disperse dye containing an acetoxyethylsulphone group on PET, Nylon, silk
and N/P fabrics were examined. The reactive disperse dye exhibited almost the same dyeing properties on PET fabric as a conventional
disperse dye except the level of dye uptake. The most appropriate pH and dyeing temperature for the dyeing of Nylon fabric
were 7 and 100°C respectively. The build-up on Nylon fabric was good and various color fastnesses were good to excellent due
to the formation of the covalent bond. Application of the reactive disperse dye on silk fabric at pH 9 and 80°C yielded optimum
color strength. The rate of dyeing on Nylon fabric was faster than that on PET fabric when both fabrics were dyed simultaneously
in a dye bath, accordingly color strength of the dyed Nylon was higher. The reactive disperse dye can be applied for one-step

Dyebath used for metal complex dyeing of nylon microfiber was recycled to reduce the overall amounts of metal complex dyeing
effluents. Instead of discharging the dyebath after each dyeing cycle, the residual dyebath was analyzed spectrophotometrically
and reconstituted to the required concentration of dyes and auxiliaries. Dyebaths were reused eight times and the CIELAB coordinates
of dyed samples were measured after each recycling. Color difference (ΔE*) between the sample dyed in the fresh bath and that
from reused dyebath was maintained below 1.5. The levelness and fastness of dyed fabrics from recycled dyebath were not impaired

Many species of salmonids have been stocked into waters outside of their native range. The invasiveness and impact of these species on native species varies depending on their biological traits, and on environmental conditions, such as climate. In Japan, rainbow trout and brown trout, both listed in 100 of the world's worst invasive alien species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, occur as non-native species. The invasiveness of these two species is thought to be related to seasonal flooding, given flood waters can physically damage fry and prevent population establishment. Rainbow trout have successfully invaded waters in Hokkaido, northern Japan, where the likelihood of flooding is low between June and July, when their fry emerge, but successful invasions are rare in regions south of Hokkaido. Brown trout, however, have successfully invaded waters not only in Hokkaido, but also other regions. Since brown trout have a similar life history to the native white-spotted charr and masu salmon, with fry emerging before the flood season, they are more suited to the Japanese climate than Rainbow trout. Rainbow and brown trout interact with native species in various ways, but a common outcome of these interactions is the displacement of native charr species. Legal regulations of non-native salmonids should be based on understandings of the ecological traits of each invasive species and regional impacts on native species. Given the ongoing nature of climate change, the nature and extent of the effects of rainbow and brown trout on native species might also change. 相似文献

The present study investigated the photoprotective properties of an ethanol extract derived from the red alga Bonnemaisonia hamifera against ultraviolet B (UVB)-induced cell damage in human HaCaT keratinocytes. The Bonnemaisonia hamifera ethanol extract (BHE) scavenged the superoxide anion generated by the xanthine/xanthine oxidase system and the hydroxyl radical generated by the Fenton reaction (FeSO4 + H2O2), both of which were detected by using electron spin resonance spectrometry. In addition, BHE exhibited scavenging activity against the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical and intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) that were induced by either hydrogen peroxide or UVB radiation. BHE reduced UVB-induced apoptosis, as shown by decreased apoptotic body formation and DNA fragmentation. BHE also attenuated DNA damage and the elevated levels of 8-isoprostane and protein carbonyls resulting from UVB-mediated oxidative stress. Furthermore, BHE absorbed electromagnetic radiation in the UVB range (280–320 nm). These results suggest that BHE protects human HaCaT keratinocytes against UVB-induced oxidative damage by scavenging ROS and absorbing UVB photons, thereby reducing injury to cellular components. 相似文献
