In this work, the determination of moving averages is proposed as a method for quantifying metal, arsenic, and sulfate discharges into a water course undergoing acid mine drainage processes which flows into a public water supply dam in the Iberian Pyrite Belt. The analysis of the results obtained by applying moving averages shows that the highest metal and sulfate concentrations occur in October, coinciding with the first rainfall and the sponging of mine dumps, with November and December being the months when the highest contributions to the Andevalo Dam take place. The discharge of acid mine waters with its corresponding metal load into the Andevalo Dam means, for a single hydrological year, more than 6,000 t of sulfates, almost 600 t of iron, and 1 t of As, of special relevance for the hydrochemical quality of the stored waters. When they arrive at the dam, these metals precipitate, since the water pH is near 7, and remain latent in the bottom sediment as long as the chemical makeup of the dam water does not change. 相似文献

To identify plant growth promotion ability of phosphorus-solubilizing native bacteria, we have examined a collection of isolates
representing the diversity of culturable phosphate-solubilizing bacteria from acid soils of the northeast of Argentina. Assays
in growth medium supplemented with tricalcium phosphate revealed different phosphorus solubilization activity and temporal
patterns of solubilization. Acidification of the broth medium coincided with phosphorus solubilization. The isolates were
grouped according to their Rep fingerprinting profiles and phylogenetically classified by 16S rDNA and biochemical analyses.
These isolates were assigned to the genera Enterobacter, Pantoea, Pseudomonas, Acinetobacter, Burkholderia, and Exiguobacterium. Four isolates showing high phosphorus solubilizing activity in in vitro assays were inoculated on common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris); some of them promoted plant growth and increased photosynthesis and the P and N content of leaves. Phosphorus availability is a major limiting factor for yield of most crop species. The objective of this study was to compare
the solubilization of three sources of phosphorus (P) by different fungal isolates and to determine the possible mechanisms
involved in the process. Talaromyces flavus (S73), T. flavus var flavus (TM), Talaromyces helicus (L7b) and T. helicus (N24), Penicillium janthinellum (PJ), and Penicillium purpurogenum (POP), fungal strains isolated from the rhizosphere of crops, are known to be biocontrol agents against pathogenic fungi.
The P solubilization efficiency of these fungal strains in liquid media supplemented either with tricalcium phosphate (Ca3(PO4)2; PC), aluminum phosphate (AlPO4; AP), or phosphorite (PP) depended on the source of P and the fungal species. The type and concentration of organic acids
produced by each species varied according to the source of available P. In the medium supplemented with PC, the highest proportion
was that of gluconic acid, whereas in the media supplemented with the other P sources, the highest proportion was that of
citric and valeric acids. This suggests that the release of these organic compounds in the rhizosphere by these microorganisms
may be important in the solubilization of various inorganic P compounds. Results also support the hypothesis that the simultaneous
production of different organic acids by fungi may enhance their potential for solubilizing insoluble phosphate. 相似文献

A study was carried out to determine the changes in phenolic composition induced by tuberculosis infection in olive trees. Four ethanolic extracts were compared: olive leaf from shoots affected by Pseudomonas savastanoi pv. Savastanoi, nodules induced by this bacteria, leaf from healthy (asymptomatic) shoots, and shoots. Among the differences found, the presence of a phenolic compound in nodules was significant in much larger quantities than in leaf or shoots. Mass spectrometric analysis showed this compound to be verbascoside. The enhancement of its biosynthesis could be related to the defense mechanisms of the tree in the nodules induced by P. savastanoi and suggests the possibility of exploration of natural and biotechnological sources of this compound. 相似文献

The selective reduction of a nitro group when other reducible functions are present is a difficult process that often requires stoichiometric amounts of reducing agents or, if H2 is used, the addition of soluble metals. Gold nanoparticles supported on TiO2 or Fe2O3 catalyzed the chemoselective hydrogenation of functionalized nitroarenes with H2 under mild reaction conditions that avoided the accumulation of hydroxylamines and their potential exothermic decomposition. During fasting, increased concentrations of circulating catecholamines promote the mobilization of lipid stores from adipose tissue in part by phosphorylating and inactivating acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase (ACC), the rate-limiting enzyme in fatty acid synthesis. Here, we describe a parallel pathway, in which the pseudokinase Tribbles 3 (TRB3), whose abundance is increased during fasting, stimulates lipolysis by triggering the degradation of ACC in adipose tissue. TRB3 promoted ACC ubiquitination through an association with the E3 ubiquitin ligase constitutive photomorphogenic protein 1 (COP1). Indeed, adipocytes deficient in TRB3 accumulated larger amounts of ACC protein than did wild-type cells. Because transgenic mice expressing TRB3 in adipose tissue are protected from diet-induced obesity due to enhanced fatty acid oxidation, these results demonstrate how phosphorylation and ubiquitination pathways converge on a key regulator of lipid metabolism to maintain energy homeostasis. 相似文献

Canine dirofilariasis caused by Dirofilaria immitis is usually diagnosed by specific antigen testing and/or identification of microfilariae. However, D. immitis and at least six other filariae can produce canine microfilaremias with negative heartworm antigen tests. Discriminating these can be of clinical importance. To resolve discordant diagnoses by two diagnostic laboratories in an antigen-negative, microfilaremic dog recently imported into the US from Europe we developed a simple molecular method of identifying different microfilariae, and subsequently validated our method against six different filariae known to infect dogs by amplifying ribosomal DNA spacer sequences by polymerase chain reaction using common and species-specific primers, and sequencing the products to confirm the genotype of the filariae. We identified the filaria in this dog as D. repens. This is the first case of D. repens infection in the United States. Additionally, we examined microfilariae from five additional antigen-negative, microfilaremic dogs and successfully identified the infecting parasite in each case. Our diagnoses differed from the initial morphological diagnosis in three of these cases, demonstrating the inaccuracy of morphological diagnosis. In each case, microfilariae identified morphologically as A. reconditum were identified as D. immitis by molecular methods. Finally, we demonstrated that our PCR method should amplify DNA from at least two additional filariae (Onchocerca and Mansonella), suggesting that this method may be suitable for genotyping all members of the family Onchocercidae. 相似文献
