Antigen-presenting cells (APCs) in the uveal tract participate in ocular immunity including immune
homeostasis and the pathogenesis of uveitis. In horses, although uveitis is the most common ocular disorder,
little is known about ocular immunity, such as the distribution of APCs. In this study, we investigated the
distribution of CD163-positive and MHC II-positive cells in the normal equine uveal tract using an
immunofluorescence technique. Eleven eyes from 10 Thoroughbred horses aged 1 to 24 years old were used.
Indirect immunofluorescence was performed using the primary antibodies CD163, MHC class II (MHC II) and CD20.
To demonstrate the site of their greatest distribution, positive cells were manually counted in 3 different
parts of the uveal tract (ciliary body, iris and choroid), and their average number was assessed by
statistical analysis. The distribution of pleomorphic CD163- and MHC II-expressed cells was detected
throughout the equine uveal tract, but no CD20-expressed cells were detected. The statistical analysis
demonstrated the distribution of CD163- and MHC II-positive cells focusing on the ciliary body. These results
demonstrated that the ciliary body is the largest site of their distribution in the normal equine uveal tract,
and the ciliary body is considered to play important roles in uveal and/or ocular immune homeostasis. The data
provided in this study will help further understanding of equine ocular immunity in the normal state and might
be beneficial for understanding of mechanisms of ocular disorders, such as equine uveitis. 相似文献

Nereistoxin suppressed the excitatory actions of α- and γ-BHC and HEOD in the central nervous system of Periplaneta americana (L.). However, it did not affect the neurotoxic action of DDT and DBrDT. Since nereistoxin is an acetylcholine antagonist, it is postulated that BHC and HEOD act to produce high level of acetylcholine and the resulting after-discharges, while DDT and DBrDT seem to attack the noncholinergic region of insect nervous system. 相似文献

Hexadeuterio-lindane(γ-BHC-d6) was several times as toxic as lindane against the mosquito (Culex pipiens pallens), house fly (Musca domestica), German cockroach (Blattella germanica) and American cockroach (Periplaneta americana). The neuroexcitatory activity of these two compounds did not differ. Lindane was considerably synergized by piperonyl butoxide, but lindane-d6 was not. A large isotope effect was observed in the in vivo breakdown of lindane-d6. Thus, the intrinsic toxicities of both compounds are equivalent. The difference in insecticidal activity seems to be due to the different rates of detoxifying biodegradation caused by the kinetic deuterium isotope effect. 相似文献

Oxidative metabolism of lindane and its isomers with microsomes from rat liver and house fly abdomen

Lindane and other hexachlorocyclohexane isomers produced 2,4,6-trichlorophenol as the major oxidative metabolite when incubated in the presence of NADPH under aerobic condition. A mechanism for the formation of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol is proposed, which includes direct oxygenation of the cyclohexane ring. The proposed mechanism is supported by data from studies of model chemical reactions of the pentachlorocyclohexanol isomers. Pathways leading to 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene, tetrachlorobenzene isomers, 2,4,5-trichlorophenol, and tetrachlorophenol isomers are discussed, and are considered to include the route through pentachlorocyclohexene and hexachlorocyclohexene. Rice blast fungus isolates were collected in Kyushu to investigate resistance to scytalone dehydratase inhibitors of melanin biosynthesis (MBI-D). In 2001, failure of control of rice blast was reported in the Saga prefecture, where MBI-Ds have been used since 1998. At that time, the distribution of resistant isolates was mainly limited to that area. However, in 2002, resistant isolates were detected in all prefectures of Kyushu. DNA fingerprinting analysis showed that the mutation causing resistance to MBI-Ds had arisen independently in each area. These data suggest that resistant isolates may occur in any area and become dominant under continuous selection pressure for MBI-Ds. Nevertheless, resistant strains can be controlled by reductase inhibitors of melanin biosynthesis (MBI-R) or commercial rice seed disinfectants. 相似文献

We previously reported that synthetic peptides, RLYLRIGRR-NH2 (peptide A) and RLRLRIGRR-NH2 (peptide B), derived from the beetle Allomyrina dichotoma defensin, showed antimicrobial activity against both Gram-positive and negative bacteria and suppressed lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) mRNA expression in a murine macrophage cell line. In this study, inhibitory effects of these peptides in LPS-induced mouse peritoneal macrophage activation were investigated. The supplement of peptide A to macrophages cultured with LPS resulted in a significant decrease in nitric oxide and TNF-alpha production. Furthermore, NF-kappaB activation was also blocked by addition of peptide A. These results indicated that peptide A blocked macrophage activation induced by LPS. 相似文献

ABSTRACT Antisera raised against phloem-limited phytoplasmas generally react only with the phytoplasma strain used to produce the antigen. There is a need for an antiserum that reacts with a variety of phytoplasmas. Here, we show that an antiserum raised against the SecA membrane protein of onion yellows phytoplasma, which belongs to the aster yellows 16S-group, detected eight phytoplasma strains from four distinct 16S-groups (aster yellows, western X, rice yellow dwarf, and elm yellows). In immunoblots, approximately 96-kDa SecA protein was detected in plants infected with each of the eight phytoplasmas. Immunohistochemical staining of thin sections prepared from infected plants was localized in phloem tissues. This antiserum should be useful in the detection and histopathological analysis of a wide range of phytoplasmas. 相似文献

This study aimed to evaluate gonadotropin secretion and the developmental competence of follicular oocytes in dairy cattle during the early postpartum (PP) period. The number of follicles developed after transvaginal ultrasound-guided ovum pick-up (OPU) and fertilizability of retrieved oocytes were compared between cows in which the first dominant follicle (DF) ovulated (ovulated group, n=4) and did not ovulate (non-ovulated group, n=3), and between early PP (early PP group, n=2) and after the resumption of the estrous cycle (cyclic group, n=2). Follicular ablation was performed 2-4 days after the detection of DF in the second follicular wave PP. OPU was repeated 3-5 times at 3 or 4-day intervals from 3-4 days after the follicular ablation. At OPU, the follicles were enumerated and all those > or = 5 mm in diameter were aspirated. Recovered oocytes were subjected to in vitro maturation and fertilization. Both criteria were similar between ovulated and non-ovulated groups, and between early PP and cyclic groups. These results suggest that FSH/LH secretions required for follicle recruitment and subsequent follicular growth during the early PP period are similar to those after resumption of the estrous cycle. They also indicate that follicular oocytes during the early PP period have developmental competence. 相似文献
