Chicken consumption is a newly identified risk factor in Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis (SE) infection in humans. SE is widely distributed in commercial chicken flocks and high levels of cecal carriage and shedding may lead to broiler meat contamination. In the present study, the preventive and eliminative effect of nonimmunized freeze-dried egg yolk powder (EYP) on SE in broilers was investigated. In the prevention trial, reduced SE counts were observed in liver (P < or = 0.05), cecal contents, and fecal shedding (P < or = 0.05) in birds fed 10% or 5% EYP. Histological examination of cecal wall and cecal tonsils at 23 days postinfection indicated a lesser degree of intestinal pathology. In the elimination trial, a significantly lower (P < or = 0.05) number of SE reached the liver and spleen, and a reduction in cecal carriage and fecal shedding was observed. The histological changes in the cecal mucosa and cecal tonsils reflected an apparent inflammation and mucosal repair and also suggested that the infection had not completely resolved, confirming SE bacterial isolations in the cecal tissue. The present study indicates that supplementing the diets of broilers with 5% nonimmunized EYP, at the early stages of the growing period, reduces preharvest Salmonella load with a minimal degree of intestinal pathology.  相似文献

Migratory responses of hemocytes to Vibrio parahaemolyticus strain D3 in the alimentary tracts of an estuarine neritid gastropod, Clithon retropictus, and a related marine neritid, Nerita albicilla, were examined under the scanning electron microscope. After ingesting the strain, active responses were seen at the esophagus, stomach and anterior intestine of adult C. retropictus and at the middle and posterior intestines of adult N. albicilla. When the alimentary tracts were isolated from the gastropod and incubated in vitro with strain D3, active response was induced at the most parts of the tract of the adult gastropods and at the stomach and the anterior intestine of juvenile C. retropictus. The responding hemocytes were confirmed to be granulocytes in the semi-thin sections of the tract of adult C. retropictus. The poor hemocyte responses at the middle and posterior intestines of juvenile C. retropictus might support the colonization of the organism there.  相似文献

Absorption, translocation and metabolism of [14C]3-isopropyl-2,1,3-benzothiadiazin-4-one-2,2-dioxide (bentazon) by several plant species were investigated to determine the mechanism of bentazon selectivity.Marked selective phytotoxicities were observed between resistant rice (Oryza sativa L.) and susceptible Cyperus serotinus Rottb. when treated with bentazon. Absorption and transolcation of bentazon did not differ greatly between highly resistant rice and susceptible C. serotinus. However, a marked difference in bentazon metabolism occurred between the two species. In rice about 80% of the absorbed bentazon was metabolized within 24 h, and after 7 days about 85% was converted to a major water-soluble metabolite and unchanged bentazon was only 5%. In C. serotinus 50–75% of the radioactivity was unchanged bentazon after 7 days.Large amounts of water-soluble metabolites were detected in root-treated resistant plants such as barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crus-galli Beauv.), soybean (Glycine max Merr.) and corn (Zea mays L.), but only small amounts were present in such susceptible plants as Sagittaria pygmaea Miq. and Eleocharis kuroguwai Ohwi. Therefore, the mechanism of bentazon selectivity appears to be a difference between resistant and susceptible species in their ability to metabolize and detoxify bentazon.The major metabolite in rice was identified as 6-(3-isopropyl-2,1,3-benzothiadiazin-4-one-2,2-dioxide)-O-β-glucopyranoside, determined by GC-MS, NMR, IR and gas chromatography after hydrolysis with sulfuric acid or β-glucosidase.  相似文献

Eighty isolates ofVerticillium dahliae from the southeastern Anatolia region and 20 isolates from the east Mediterranean region from wilted cotton plants were used for vegetative compatibility analysis employing nitrate non-utilizing mutants and reference tester strains of vegetative compatibility groups (VCGs) 1A, 2A, 2B, 3, 4A and 4B. Of the 100V. dahliae isolates, 49 were assigned to VCG1A, 39 to VCG2B, nine to VCG2A and three to VCG4B. Pathogenicity assays were conducted on susceptible cotton cv. Çukurova 1518 in the greenhouse. All VCG1A isolates induced defoliation and all VCG2B isolates caused partial defoliation symptoms. Isolates of VCG2A and VCG4B caused typical symptoms of leaf chlorosis without defoliation. This is the first report on VCGs ofV. dahliae in the southeastern Anatolia region of Turkey, which demonstrates that VCG1A of the cotton-defoliating type and VCG2B of the partially defoliating type are prevalent in this region.  相似文献

A total of 153 isolates of Salmonella Typhimurium derived from food-producing animals in Japan between 2002 and 2005 were investigated for antimicrobial resistance and phage types related to definitive phage type 104 (DT104). The predominant resistance type was resistance to ampicillin, dihydrostreptomycin, kanamycin, and oxytetracycline in bovine (45.2%, 48/104) and resistance to dihydrostreptomycin and oxytetracycline in porcine isolates (58.7%, 27/48). DT104-related phage type was found in 32 of 104 bovine isolates, two of 48 porcine isolates, and one of eight isolates from poultry, showing that the proportion of the phage type in S. Typhimurium isolates from cattle and pigs significantly (P<0.01) decreased from 71.9% and 31.4% in 1999-2001 to 30.8% and 4.1% in 2002-2005, respectively.  相似文献

The loss of fertilizer N from golf greens can be high depending upon management (irrigation schedule, N source, rate and timing of fertilizer application) as well as soil conditions. Although soil organic matter (SOM) is acknowledged as a major source of N and other nutrients, its potential as an N source seems to be neglected in the management of golf greens. The susceptibility of SOM to degradation is one indication of how active a role SOM plays as a nutrient source. An extraction method developed by Olk et al. [Geoderma 65 (1995) 195] distinguishes humic acid fractions by their binding to dominant stabilizing soil cations and separates them into calcium-bound (CaHA) and non calcium-bound or mobile (MHA) fractions. Mobile humic acid is a relatively young, N-rich HA fraction that does not appear to form stable complexes with Ca. The MHA could therefore play a greater role in nutrient availability than CaHA. We determined C and N distributions within SOM extracted from these two HA fractions in 11 golf greens ranging in age from 4 to 28 yr. Because SOM in golf greens is recently formed, and MHA is an N-rich fraction representing an early stage of SOM evolution, we hypothesized that the MHA fraction would account for a larger proportion of soil organic N than CaHA. The amounts of both HA-C and HA-N increased significantly with green age. MHA accounted for a larger proportion (20-27%) of total soil C than CaHA-C (8-14%). MHA was also enriched in N compared to CaHA with consistently smaller C-to-N ratios. Thus, the greater abundance of MHA and its higher N concentration accounted for a larger proportion of soil organic N (24-45%). The equivalence of MHA-N ranged between 250 kg N ha−1 for a 4 yr-old green and 775 kg N ha−1 for a 21 yr-old green. Thus, soils of established greens contain significant quantities of labile SOM rich in N that could through mineralization supply part of the fertilizer N requirement of turf grass. A greater understanding of the dynamics of this resource is needed if we are to manage golf greens for optimal use without negative consequences to the environment.  相似文献

The effects of some yarn properties (i.e. type, count, twist level, ply number, unevenness and crimp) and fabric constructional properties (i.e. cover, thickness and balance) on surface roughness values of cotton woven fabrics were investigated. A general overview of the results showed that surface roughness values of fabrics were affected from yarn and fabric properties and the effects were related to fabric balance, fabric cover (not cover factor), fabric thickness and crimp values of yarns in fabric structures. Surface roughness values of fabrics decreased as yarn fineness and yarn twist levels increased but as yarn ply number decreased. Also, surface roughness values gradually decreased from open-end yarn constituting fabrics to combed yarn constituting fabrics. Results showed that different properties of yarns caused changes in yarn crimps in fabric structure and also governed the changes in fabric balance, as well as changes in roughness of fabric surfaces. The changing properties of yarns and impact of these properties on fabric construction affected the formation of cotton fabric surfaces from smooth to coarse.  相似文献

Bacillus sp. nov. SK006 producing four extracellular fibrinolytic enzymes was isolated from fermented shrimp paste, a traditional and popular Asian seasoning. One fibrinolytic enzyme was purified to homogeneity with a molecular mass of 43-46 kDa by SDS-PAGE and gel filtration chromatography. The specific activity was determined to be 11.2 units/mg using plasmin as a standard. The enzyme displayed optimal activity at 30 degrees C and pH 7.2. It was stable below 40 degrees C for 4 h between pH 5.0 and pH 11.0. Zinc ion stimulated the enzyme activity whereas Cu2+, Ca2+, Fe3+, and Hg2+ caused its inhibition. The fibrinolytic activity was strongly inhibited by PMSF and moderately inhibited by EDTA as well as PCMB. The enzyme exhibited a higher affinity toward N-Succ-Ala-Ala-Pro-Phe-pNA and was able to degrade fibrin clots either by forming active plasmin from plasminogen or by direct fibrinolysis. The N-terminal amino acid sequence was found to be AQSVPYEQPHLSQ, which is different from that of other known fibrinolytic enzymes.  相似文献

The essential oils obtained by water distillation from aerial parts of Achillea schischkinii Sosn. and Achillea aleppica DC. subsp. aleppica were analyzed by gas chromatography and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. 1,8-Cineole (32.5 and 26.1%, respectively) was the main component in both oils. The oil of A. aleppica subsp. aleppica was also found to be rich in bisabolol and its derivates. When tested for their antimicrobial, antiinflammatory, and antinociceptive activities, the oil of A. aleppica subsp. aleppica showed significant antiinflammatory, antinociceptive, and moderate antimicrobial activities.  相似文献
