High-speed melt spinning of syndiotactic polystyrene was carried out using high and low molecular weight polymers, HMs-PS and LMs-PS, at the throughput rates of 3 and 6 g/min. The effect of take-up velocity on the structure and properties of as-spun fibers was investigated. Wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) patterns of the as-spun fibers revealed that the orientation-induced crystallization started to occur at the take-up velocities of 2–3 km/min. The crystal modification wasα-form. Birefringence of as-spun fibers showed negative value, and the absolute value of birefringence increased with an increase in the take-up velocity. The cold crystallization temperature analyzed through the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) decreased with an increase in the take-up velocity in the low speed region, whereas as the melting temperature increased after the on-set of orientation-induced crystallization. It was found that the fiber structure development proceeded from lower take-up velocities when the spinning conditions of higher molecular weight and lower throughput rate were adopted. The highest tensile modulus of 6.5 GPa was obtained for the fibers prepared at the spinning conditions of LMs-PS, 6 g/min and 5 km/min, whereas the highest tensile strength of 160 MPa was obtained for the HMs-PS fibers at the take-up velocity of 2 km/min. Elongation at break of as-spun fibers showed an abrupt increase, which was regarded as the brittle-ductile transition, in the low speed region, and subsequently decreased with an increase in the take-up velocity. There was a universal relation between the thermal and mechanical properties of as-spun fibers and the birefringence of as-spun fibers when the fibers were still amorphous. The orientation-induced crystallization was found to start when the birefringence reached — 0.02. After the starting of the orientation-induced crystallization, thermal and mechanical properties of as-spun fibers with similar level of birefringence varied significantly depending on the processing conditions.  相似文献

This study aimed to evaluate the amino acid-chelated trace elements as dietary supplement to rainbow trout. Three diets were formulated containing trace elements either from the inorganic salt (SF) or amino acid-chelate (AM). Diets 1 (SF) and 2 (AM) contained the same amount of trace elements from inorganic and amino acid-chelates, respectively. Diet 3 (AM-Hf) was added with trace elements from amino acid-chelatex at one-half of their levels in Diets 1 and 2. Each diet was fed for 15 weeks to three groups of 30 fish each, with an average weight of 1.52±0.21 g. Growth of fish was not affected by the treatment (P>0.05). However, bone (P<0.01) and liver (P<0.05) Cu contents were higher in the AM than the SF group. Similarly, hematocrit level (P<0.05) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity (P<0.01) were higher in the chelate-fed fish. Further, DNA polymerase and CuZnSOD expression in the AM group was highly upregulated (P<0.05) compared to the SF fed fish as quantified by RT-PCR. Absorption and whole body retention of Mn and Zn from the AM were higher (P<0.05) than the inorganic salt. Half supplementation of those fed the elements from AM was at par with the full provision from the inorganic source tested.  相似文献

The effectiveness of the incorporation of genomic pre‐selection into dairy cattle progeny testing (GS‐PT) was compared with that of progeny testing (PT) where the fraction of dam to breed bull (DB) selected was 0.01. When the fraction of sires to breed bulls (SB) selected without being progeny tested to produce young bulls (YB) in the next generation was 0.2, the annual genetic gain from GS‐PT was 13% to 43% greater when h2 = 0.3 and 16% to 53% greater when h2 = 0.1 compared with that from PT. Given h2 = 0.3, a selection accuracy of 0.8 for both YB and DB, and selected fractions of 0.117 for YB and 0.04 for DB, GS‐PT produced 40% to 43% greater annual genetic gain than PT. Given h2 = 0.1, a selection accuracy of 0.6 for both YB and DB, and selected fractions of 0.117 for YB and 0.04 for DB, annual genetic gain from GS‐PT was 48% to 53% greater than that from PT. When h2 = 0.3, progeny testing capacity had little effect on annual genetic gain from GS‐PT. However, when h2 = 0.1, annual genetic gain from GS‐PT increased with increasing progeny testing capacity.  相似文献

Salt plays an important role in the control of blood pressure in obesity and diabetes mellitus. In this study, we investigated physiological changes such as blood pressure and renal function in salt‐loaded female Spontaneously Diabetic Torii‐Leprfa (SDT fatty) rats. SDT fatty rats were given 1% NaCl in drinking water for 14 weeks, from 4 to 18 weeks of age. Significant salt‐sensitive hypertension was observed in the salt‐loaded SDT fatty rats. Moreover, the salt‐loaded rats showed a decrease of creatinine clearance and deterioration on pathological renal findings, including glomerulosclerosis and tubular and interstitial lesions. Female SDT fatty rat is a useful model for investigating the mechanisms of high salt sensitivity in obesity and diabetes mellitus.  相似文献

Rooftop gardening (or green roof establishment) is an urban greening afforestation method that has many environmental, economic, and urban landscaping benefits. For rooftop vegetation, stressful environments that include heat, strong winds, sunshine, and drought prevent many plants from growing well, especially in shallow soil. To establish low cost urban rooftop gardens with a low weight substrate in the summer, we evaluated the green coverage and growth of a suitable groundcover ornamental plant, blue daze (Evolvulus pilosus). Blue daze was used as rooftop vegetation in a shallow substrate (10 cm thick) on the flat rooftop of a four-story building in the middle of Kobe city, Japan, which has a temperate and humid climate. On average, the diurnal maximum temperatures and the total amounts of precipitation during each planting experiment between July and September were 30.8 °C and 247 mm in 2008 and 33.2 °C and 458 mm in 2009, respectively. Three different types of planting substrates (AS, amended soil, TM, turf mat as a dried-up blocks of sod, and FBA, furnace bottom ash) were tested to determine how they influenced plant cover, flowering, and growth. We evaluated the physical and chemical properties of the substrates that were used to establish the rooftop greeneries. In addition, the economy, ornamental and ecological values, reuse of material, and low rooftop weight burdens of the substrates were evaluated. The greatest blue daze ground cover occurred on the TM substrate (relative to the AS and FBA substrates) approximately three months after transplanting. The blue daze actively bloomed on all substrates throughout midsummer. However, alternate day irrigation largely reduced their shoot growth and flowering relative to daily irrigation. The AS and TM substrates had suitable physicochemical properties for use as planting substrates and had ideal solid, liquid, and vapor phase distributions and high water and nutrient holding capacities. FBA was a poor substrate with very low water and nutrient retention capacities, which resulted in depressed plant growth, especially under low watering conditions. To recycle FBA efficiently as a shallow low-cost planting substrate for rooftop gardening, the addition of coated fertilizers and organic matter to FBA should be considered to improve its water and nutrient holding capacities.  相似文献

The self-feeding activity of the barfin flounder (Verasper moseri) was examined under natural photoperiod and temperature. The experiment, carried out over 12 weeks from September to December, involved tagged fish (mean body weight: 371 g) reared in three 1000-l tanks (3 or 5 fish per tank) with a self-feeder device. The sensor comprised a switch and trigger string with a bead. Self-feeding activity was recorded in all tanks from day 1. The fish fed mostly at night. Strong positive correlations were observed between the number of daily feeder activations and water temperature/photoperiod, and all fish grew during the experiment. These results demonstrate that barfin flounder can operate self-feeding systems and it is suggested that self-feeding activity is influenced by photoperiod and water temperature.  相似文献

Cytoplasmic male sterile (CMS) plants were obtained by asymmetrical protoplast fusion between red cabbage (fertile) and normal radish (fertile). The CMS plants showed restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) patterns of mitochondrial (mt) DNA that were different from those of both parental lines. PCR analysis of mtDNA of the CMS plants and though Southern blot analysis showed that the mtDNA of the CMS line had the characteristics of the ogura CMS type. The results suggested that the orf138 gene and the ogura type atp6 gene are present in normal fertile cabbage and radish at a low copy level.
