The analgesic, bleeding, and renal effects of dogs pre‐medicated with etodolac with and without butorphanol were evaluated. Twenty‐four 1‐year‐old healthy dogs, weighing 19 ± 3 kg (mean ± SD) were randomly assigned to four treatment groups (n = 6): control (C), etodolac (E), butorphanol (B), and etodolac with butorphanol (EB). Etodolac (12–14 mg kg?1 PO) was given 1 hour before propofol induction and isoflurane maintenance anesthesia. Butorphanol (0.4 mg kg?1 IV) was given immediately following endotracheal intubation. Control dogs received only propofol (8 mg kg?1 to effect) and isoflurane anesthesia. All dogs were mechanically ventilated to maintain Pe ′CO2 between 35 and 45 mm Hg (4.7–6.0 kPa). Lactated Ringer's solution was given at 10 mL kg?1 hour?1 during anesthesia. Plasma cortisol concentrations were assessed 1 day prior to surgery (baseline), immediately prior to anesthesia induction, and every 30 minutes until 5 hours following extubation, and 1 day after surgery. Total duration of anesthesia was 50 minutes and total surgery duration was 30 minutes. Isoflurane concentration area under the curve (AUC) over time during the anesthesia was compared among treatment groups. Buccal mucosal bleeding time (BMBT) was assessed 1 day before E administration and during surgery. Urine GGT to urine creatinine ratio, BUN, and plasma creatinine were taken daily from 1 day before to 3 days after surgery. Behavioral pain scores (numerical rating scale) were assessed by two observers blinded to the treatment during the 5‐hour recovery period at 30 minute intervals until 3 hours, and again at 5 hours after extubation. All data were analyzed using anova . Multiple comparisons were performed if the anova was significant. Alpha value was set at 0.05. Plasma cortisol concentrations significantly increased from time of extubation in all the treatment groups. They did not return to the baseline until 5, 2.5, 1.5, and 1.5 hours after extubation in the C, B, E, and EB groups, respectively. Isoflurane AUC was not significantly different among treatment groups. Dogs treated with EB had significantly less behavioral pain than all other groups throughout the 5‐hour recovery period. No significant difference was found between treatment groups or within treatment groups over time in BMBT, or any renal variables. This study demonstrated that (i) pre‐operative administration of E provides profound analgesia during the post‐operative period without renal or bleeding side‐effects in dogs undergoing OHE; and (ii) a combination of butorphanol–etodolac provides the best analgesic effect during the post‐operative period based on the behavioral pain score.  相似文献

The feasibility of scheduling deficit irrigation using maximum daily trunk shrinkage (MDS) was evaluated during two consecutive seasons in a citrus orchard planted with mature ‘Clementina de Nules’ trees, in Valencia, Spain. Results showed that MDS in well irrigated trees varied largely according to the environmental conditions (higher correlation was obtained with global radiation), and therefore, the absolute values of MDS cannot be employed as the only variable to schedule irrigation. To avoid the effects of the climatic conditions we scheduled deficit irrigation using the MDS ratio, which is the MDS of any treatment related to the MDS of a control, well irrigated, treatment located in the same plot. We explored the feasibility of scheduling irrigation based on the MDS ratio in a deficit irrigated treatment, where water was applied as necessary, from July until mid October, in order to maintain the MDS values at 125% of that of the control treatment. Despite the large variability observed in the MDS measurements in both years no significant reduction in yield and fruit weight was observed in the deficit irrigated treatment compared with the control, allowing seasonal water saving between 18 and 12%.  相似文献

We evaluated the usefulness of short-term trunk diameter variations (TDV) as water stress indicator in field-grown grapevines cv. Tempranillo. Two indices were calculated from TDV, maximum daily trunk shrinkage (MDS), and trunk growth rate (TGR). The seasonal evolution of both indicators was compared with occasional determinations of pre-dawn leaf water potential and stem water potential, measured at early morning (Ψsem) and at midday (Ψsmd) in irrigated and non-irrigated vines. In the second season, the effect of crop load on the vine water status indicators was also studied. Crop load did not affect either the vine water relations or the TDV. All water potential determinations had much lower variability and were more sensitive than both MDS and TGR to water restrictions. The ability of both indices to detect plant water stress varied largely depending upon the phenological period. In fact, MDS and TGR were only able to detect vine water stress during a short period of time before veraison. During this period, TGR was linearly related to both Ψsem and Ψsmd, while for MDS a curvilinear, quadratic equation, better described the relationship with plant water status. After veraison no apparent relationship existed between plant water status and MDS or TGR. Hence, our results question the practical use of both MDS and TGR as variables to automate irrigation scheduling for grapevine.  相似文献

The effects of crop level and irrigation on water relations, yield, grape and wine composition were studied during two seasons in a Tempranillo vineyard in Spain. Irrigation was applied at two levels: R2 (with mild deficit irrigation applied during all the season) and R1 (with more severe water stress applied before veraison). Deficit irrigated vines were compared to a non-irrigated control. Crop levels imposed resulted in 11, 20, and 27 clusters per vine. Over all treatments, yield and ratio of leaf area to yield (LA: Y) were different between years: 4.4 and 16.3?t?ha?1 and 1.72 and 0.88?m2?kg?1 in 2005 and 2006, respectively. In 2005, large differences in grape and wine composition occurred among non-irrigated and the irrigated treatments, but not between R1 and R2 treatments. Wines from non-irrigated vines were more acid, had higher total anthocyanins, and higher color intensity. In 2006, irrigation had less effect on grape and wine variables. The effect of shoot and cluster thinning on wine composition was different between seasons due to the different crop load values between years. Grape composition was negatively affected by high crop level only for values of LA: Y lower than 1.5?m2?kg?1.  相似文献

The transition metal chalcogenide Ni(S,Se)2 is one of the few highly correlated, Mott-Hubbard systems without a strong first-order structural distortion that normally cuts off the critical behavior at the metal-insulator transition. The zero-temperature (T) transition was tuned with pressure, and significant deviations were found near the quantum critical point from the usual T1/2 behavior of the conductivity characteristic of electron-electron interactions in the presence of disorder. The effects of light exposure on 3-isobutyl-2-methoxypyrazine (IBMP) accumulation and degradation in Vitis vinifera L. cv. Cabernet Franc berries were assessed by comparison of shaded and exposed clusters within the same vine throughout a growing season. Twenty-seven vines were shoot-thinned to create regions of high and low cluster-light exposure within each vine. Samples were collected at 10 time points starting from 5 to 130 days postbloom. The experimental design allowed for intravine comparison of IBMP levels between treatments at each time. Vine-to-vine variability of IBMP and the correlation of IBMP to malic acid were also evaluated. Cluster exposure reduced accumulation of IBMP at all preveraison time points by 21-44%, but did not increase postveraison degradation. Significant vine-to-vine variability in IBMP content was observed, with the highest level of IBMP in shaded berries in the most vigorous block of vines. Although IBMP concentration by weight decreased significantly due to dilution just prior to color change (veraison), no significant IBMP degradation per berry occurred until after color change (day 70 postbloom). By contrast, malic acid degradation began prior to color change, and malic acid concentrations were not affected by cluster exposure preveraison, but were affected postveraison. A survey of 13 sites in New York state (Seneca Lake) showed that IBMP concentrations at 2 weeks preveraison were highly correlated (R(2) = 0.936, p < 0.0001) to levels at harvest, whereas classic grape maturity indices at harvest were uncorrelated with IBMP at harvest. In summary, light exposure conditions critically influence IBMP accumulation but not IBMP degradation.  相似文献
