Information on the genetics of aroma in rice facilitates breeding and selection of new aromatic varieties with high yield and good quality. Objective of the present study was to make clear the number of genes controlling aroma, and the allelism of aroma genes and the location of aroma gene(s) on the chromosome in three Japanese native aromatic rice varieties (Kabashiko, Shiroikichi and Henroyori). Lack of leaf aroma in all F1 plants of non-aromatic/aromatic crosses indicated the recessive nature of aroma, and the segregation ratios (3:1) of non-aromatic to aromatic plants in its F2 populations from Nipponbare/aromatic varieties crosses revealed that each of the three aromatic varieties contains a single recessive gene for aroma. Through trisomic analysis, the segregation of non-aromatic and aromatic plants in all F2 populations from the crosses between trisomics lines NT8, with an extra chromosome 8, and aromatic varieties deviated significantly from disomic segregation of 3:1 ratios, and fitted to trisomic segregation, however, in other F2 populations derived from other 7 types of trisomic F1 plants, the segregation ratios of non-aromatic to aromatic were 3:1, indicating that the single recessive aroma gene was located on chromosome 8 in three aromatic varieties. Plant breeding programs aim to develop cultivars with high adaptability to the specific conditions in a local region. As a result, unique genes and gene combinations have been accumulated in local elite breeding populations during the long history of plant breeding. Genetic analyses on such genes and combinations may be useful for developing new cultivars with more-desirable agronomic traits. Here, we attempted to detect quantitative trait loci (QTL) for rice blast resistance (BR) using a local breeding rice population from Hokkaido, Japan. Using genotyping data on single nucleotide polymorphisms and simple sequence repeat markers distributed throughout the whole genomic region, we detected genetic regions associated with phenotypic variation in BR by a genome-wide association mapping study (GWAS). An additional association analysis using other breeding cultivars verified the effect and inheritance of the associated region. Furthermore, the existence of a gene for BR in the associated region was confirmed by QTL mapping. The results from these studies enabled us to estimate potential of the Hokkaido rice population as a gene pool for improving BR. The results of this study could be useful for developing novel cultivars with vigorous BR in rice breeding programs.  相似文献

Leaf developmental behavior in rice (Oryza sativa L.) is one of the important agronomic characteristics, which not only determines vegetative growth but also influences grain yield. This study was conducted to identify quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for total number of leaves (TNL), days to the emergence of flag-leaf (DEF) and the leaf emergence rates (LER) on main stem, which mainly represent leaf developmental behavior, using recombinant inbred lines (RILs) derived from a cross between a japonica variety, Asominori and an indica variety, IR24, cultivated in 2001 and 2002. The transgressive segregations in both parental directions and continuous variations of all three tested traits were observed. Significant correlations among these traits were detected. A total of fourteen QTLs for leaf development behavior were detected with 289 RFLP markers. Six QTLs controlling TNL were mapped to chromosomes 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 12, and accounted for 5.615.7% of the total phenotypic variations, and three QTLs for DEF were mapped to chromosome 3, 6, 8 and accounted for 10.735.4% of total phenotype variation and five QTLs for LER were mapped to chromosome 1(two QTLs), 2, 4, 9 and explained 6.217.5% of phenotype variation. The identification of QTLs for leaf developmental behavior in rice may be useful for selection of fast growing genotype before heading using maker-assisted selection.  相似文献

The 18S rRNA genes of Theileria species detected in sika deer, Cervus nippon centralis in Yamaguchi and Cervus nippon yesoensis in Hokkaido, were analyzed. The percent identities of the nucleotide sequences of Theileria from Cervus nippon centralis and Cervus nippon yesoensis were more than 99%. The percent identities of the Theileria sp. from sika deer and Theileria sergenti, Theileria buffeli and Theileria cervi were 97, 96 and 95%, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis of the gene sequences also revealed that Theileria sp. detected from sika deer comprise a clade that is clearly distinct from the clade comprised of Theileria from cattle.  相似文献

Concentrations of serum lipid components, lipid peroxide (LPO) and α-tocopherol and electrophoretic patterns of lipoproteins in serum samples obtained from captive marine mammals and terrestrial mammals were compared. Serum concentrations of total cholesterol, free fatty acid, and phospholipid in fish-eating animals were significantly higher than those in manatees and cows. Serum LPO and α-tocopherol concentrations in the fish-eating animals were also significantly higher than those in manatees, cows and dogs. Different patterns of densitometric scans of low density lipoprotein (LDL) and a significantly lower percentage of LDL were demonstrated in the dolphins compared with the seals, cow and dogs. The concentration of LPO was significantly correlated with triglyceride and phospholipid concentrations in serum from the dolphins. These results suggest that triglyceride and phospholipid are susceptible to oxidative reaction in fish-eating animals. Evaluation of serum lipids, LPO and α-tocopherol concentrations is needed for nutritional husbandry for fish-eating animals.  相似文献

Catch forecasting and the relationship between water temperature and catch in the snow crab Chionoecetes opilio in the western Sea of Japan were investigated. Catch was used as an index of abundance on the basis of high correlations between catch per unit effort for the period when the latter data were available. The pattern of fluctuations, in catches and index coincided well with each other. Therefore, catch data were regarded as an index of abundance and the correlation coefficient between catch and water temperature was calculated at several depths from 1964 to 1999. Catch forecasting models were composed using significantly correlated variables with the following results: (i) in April and September, the catch showed high positive correlation with water temperatures (depth 50, 100, and 200 m, time lag 4–6 years); and (ii) a model using water temperatures in April alone (depth 100 m, time lag 4–7 years) forecasted the catches with a coefficient of determination of 0.504, where models using more variables (water temperatures in the 2 months and catches) showed a coefficient of 0.587 at most. Environmental conditions during the early life stages of the snow crab are thought to deeply influence the fluctuations, in abundance.  相似文献

ABSTRACT:   Research on ghost fishing became active in the late 1980s. Ghost fishing has been confirmed for traps, gillnets, trammel-nets and small seine nets. Some lost traps are functional for a long period of time, even in shallow waters. Consequences for gillnets after loss depend on seabed conditions. The ghost fishing function of gillnets remaining on flat seabeds declines rapidly with decreasing heights and increasing visibility. Gillnets left tangled around an artificial reef, for example, three-dimensionally maintain the initial magnitude of ghost fishing for a long period of time, even after badly fouled. There are increasing numbers of researches working on the total number of mortality per gear after gear loss for gillnets and trammel-nets. It has become also possible to estimate the total number of mortality for a unit period of time in a certain fishing sector. This paper reviews research which has provided evidence and quantitative data on ghost fishing, and proposes five items important for future studies on ghost fishing.  相似文献

采用黑龙江省生产上主栽的早熟、中熟和晚熟的6个水稻品种,在哈尔滨地区做分期栽培田间试验。调查记载播种、插秧和抽穗期。采取平行观测的气象资料,分析温度对水稻抽穗期和水稻营养生长期的影响。结果表明:不同的插秧期水稻抽穗期变化很大,不同熟期的水稻品种插秧至抽穗期需要的有效积温差别明显,但每个品种需要的有效积温很稳定。  相似文献
