Relative bioavailability (RBV) of arginine (Arg) from Indian mustard protein concentrate (IMC, 62% crude protein) and Indian mustard meal (IMM, 42% crude protein), and a commercially available soy protein concentrate (SPC, 57% crude protein) was compared with that of crystalline L‐arginine (L‐Arg) in rainbow trout. A basal diet highly deficient in Arg (1.23%) was formulated. Eight other isoproteic and isoenergetic diets were formulated to contain ~1.35% and ~1.5% Arg by adding increasing amount of IMC, IMM, SPC and L‐Arg. The experimental diets were fed for 16 weeks using a standard protocol. Growth rate, weight gain (g fish?1) and protein (PD, g fish?1) and lipid (LD, g fish?1) deposition were increased linearly with increasing level of Arg from all ingredients. Arg availability from protein‐bound sources were equal or higher than those from L‐Arg. RBV of Arg from IMC, IMM and SPC were ranged from 100% and 123% than that from L‐Arg (assumed as 100% bio‐available). Among the ingredients, only the RBV of Arg from IMC was significantly higher than those from SPC (< 0.05). The findings suggest that the RBV of Arg from IMC and IMM are very good and comparable to that of the commercial SPC used in this study.  相似文献

This research was on the effect of the physicochemical properties of the spray liquid on pesticide spray drift. Ten pesticide spray liquids with various physicochemical properties were selected for study. Some of these spray liquids were also examined with the addition of a polymer drift-retardant. In the first part, laboratory tests were performed to measure surface tension, viscosity, evaporation rate and density of the spray liquids. Subsequently, drift experiments were performed in a wind tunnel. From the results it was found that the dynamic surface tension is a major drift-determining factor, and also that the addition of a polymer drift-retardant can reduce drift significantly by increasing the viscosity. Drift reduction was found to be less effective with spray liquids of emulsifiable and suspendable formulation types than with spray liquids of water-dispersible granules and powders.  相似文献

Soil cover and rainfall intensity (RI) are recognized to have severe impacts on soil erosion and an interaction exists between them. This study investigates the effect of rainfall intensity (RI) and soil surface cover on losses of sediment and the selective enrichment of soil organic carbon (SOC) in the sediment by surface runoff. A field rainfall simulator was used in the laboratory to produce 90 min rainfall events of three rainfall intensities (65, 85 and 105 mm h− 1) and four cover percentages (0%, 25%, 50% and 75%) on soil material at 9% slope. A strong negative exponential relation was observed between cover percentage and RI on sediment loss under 85 and 105 mm h− 1 of rain, while under RI of 65 mm h− 1, the highest sediment loss was observed under 25% cover. Overall, higher RI and lower cover produced higher sediment and consequently higher nutrient loss, but resulted in a lower SOC enrichment ratio (ERSOC) in the sediment. The amount of runoff sediment rather than the ERSOC in the sediment was the determinant factor for the amount of nutrients lost. The values of ERSOC were high and positively correlated with the ER values of particles smaller than 20 µm (p < 0.01). Although the sediment contained substantially more fine fractions (fine silt and clay, < 20 µm), the original soil and runoff sediment were still of the same texture class, i.e. silt clay loam.  相似文献

The standard soil invertebrate toxicity tests developed by OECD and ISO use an artificial soil as the test substrate, which contains sphagnum peat as a component. This type of peat is not widely available. Investigation of possible alternative substrates using locally available materials therefore is vital for performing such ecotoxicity tests, particularly in the tropics. We studied the suitability of paddy husk (PH), saw-dust (SD), non-composted (NCCP) and composted coco peat (CCP) as a replacement for sphagnum peat. Artificial soil (AS) was prepared by mixing 70% sand and 20% kaolin clay with 10% PH, SD, NCCP or CCP. First, the reproduction potential of the earthworm Eisenia andrei was investigated in modified artificial soil (MAS) using the original OECD AS as the control. The number of juveniles produced in OECD AS, MASPH and MASCCP was not significantly different but it was significantly reduced (p < 0.05) in MASSD and MASNCCP. The toxicity of chlorpyrifos, carbendazim and carbofuran for E. andrei was determined to validate the substrates. The 28-day LC50s for the three pesticides in original AS, MASCCP and MASPH were not significantly different, but the EC50 for effects on reproduction in the MASPH was significantly lower (p < 0.05) compared to OECD AS and MASCCP. We conclude that composted coco peat might be a suitable replacement for sphagnum peat in AS for soil ecotoxicity studies.  相似文献

In the Mekong Delta, alluvial clay soils have been used intensively over many generations for rice monoculture. Currently, farmers are confronted by problems of declining land productivity. Rotations comprising rice and upland crops can increase soil quality, but appropriate cropping systems for paddy soils have received relatively little attention. We therefore established a multiyear field experiment to evaluate the long‐term effects of cropping systems with different rotations on soil chemical quality. Systems laid out in a randomized complete block design with four replications were as follows: (i) traditional rice monoculture with three rice crops per year (R‐R‐R), (ii) rotation with two rice crops and maize (R‐M‐R), (iii) rotation with two rice crops and mung bean (R‐Mb‐R) and (iv) rotation with one rice crop and two upland crops – mung bean and maize (R‐Mb‐M). We hypothesized that systems with rotations of upland crops and their temporary beds improve chemical quality of paddy rice soil. Soil chemical parameters were determined to better understand and evaluate the sustainability of the cropping systems. Results showed an improvement in soil chemical quality for cropping systems with rotations of rice and mung bean or maize grown on temporary beds (R‐M‐R, R‐Mb‐R and R‐Mb‐M), particularly the content of soil organic carbon and a presumed hydrolysable labile carbon fraction compared with rice monoculture. Less pronounced improvements in EC, CEC and total acidity were also found with inclusion of upland crops. Cropping systems of rice with upland crops improved rice grain and straw yield in subsequent season in contrast with rice monoculture.  相似文献

A study was carried out to determine arsenic species in Porphyra seaweed originating from the China Sea. Information about arsenic species in Porphyra was provided by HPLC-ICP-MS and ES-MS-MS. The total arsenic concentrations of Porphyra samples from five different producing areas ranged from 2.1 to 21.6 mg/kg. The analysis report also showed that arsenosugars were the only arsenic species that could be detected in all of the extracts of samples. Arsenosugar PO(4) was the major compound in most samples (0.3-13.9 mg/kg of dry weight), followed by arsenosugar OH (0.7-6.2 mg/kg of dry weight). A further experiment was done to investigate the stability of arsenosugars in the process of being heated. It was observed that the arsenosugars were stable during a short-term heating at 100 degrees C. Their stability in human ingestion was also studied. A substantial increase of dimethylarsinic acid (DMA) was detected in urine samples collected from six volunteers after the consumption of this seaweed. The results obtained indicated that arsenosugars had been metabolized to DMA, which is more toxic than arsenosugars. From this point of view, consumers should consider the possible adverse effects of edible Porphyra on human health and choose those Porphyra having lower arsenic concentrations.  相似文献

The activities of earthworms, springtails and mites in the decomposition of different substrates were examined by applying three different test methods: wheat straw degradation, the cotton-strip assay and the bait-lamina test. The main aim was to determine the potential of these three methods to describe the (direct and indirect) contribution of soil invertebrates to decomposition processes in soil. Animals were introduced at different densities to mesocosms consisting of intact soil cores taken from grassland. Wheat straw mass loss, determined after 27 days, and cotton tensile strength loss, measured after 14 days, did not significantly differ for the different densities of earthworms, springtails and mites. These findings indicate that cellulose degradation and wheat straw decomposition are more dependent on microbial activity, rather than on the abundance and activity of soil invertebrates. Soil microbial activity, measured as dehydrogenase activity at the end of the 75-day incubation period, did not show any correlation with animal density. Bait-lamina consumption rate was highest for the mesocosms containing earthworms, and increased with increasing earthworm density. Bait-lamina consumption in the mesocosms inoculated with springtails or mites only was not significantly different from that in the controls without animals. In the case of the mites this might at least partly be explained by the low densities used in this experiment. It may be concluded that whilst the bait-lamina test gives the best reflection of the biological activity of soil animals, in particular earthworms, wheat straw and cotton strip decomposition rates are more indicative of microbial activity in the soil.  相似文献
