Although wood/cellulose-plastic composites (WPC) of low wood/cellulose content have been more accepted worldwide and are promoted as low-maintenance, high-durability building products, composites containing high wood/cellulose content are not yet developed on an industrial scale. In this study, flow properties, mechanical properties, and water absorption properties of the compounds of cellulose microfiber/polypropylene (PP) and maleic anhydride-grafted polypropylene (MAPP) were investigated to understand effects of the high cellulose content and the dimensions of the cellulose microfiber. The molding processes studied included compression, injection, and extrusion. It was found that fluidity is not only dependent on resin content but also on the dimension of the filler; fluidity of the compound declined with increased fiber length with the same resin content. Dispersion of the composite was monitored by charge-coupled device (CCD) microscope. Increasing the plastic content in the cellulose-plastic formulation improved the strength of mold in addition to the bond development between resin and filler, and the tangle of fibers. The processing mode affected the physicomechanical properties of the cellulosic plastic. Compression-molded samples exhibited the lowest modulus of rupture (MOR) and modulus of elasticity (MOE) and the highest water absorption, while samples that were injection-molded exhibited the highest MOR (70 MPa) and MOE (7 GPa) and low water absorption (2%).  相似文献

The study of influenza type A (IA) infections in wild mammals populations is a critical gap in our knowledge of how IA viruses evolve in novel hosts that could be in close contact with avian reservoir species and other wild animals. The aim of this study was to evaluate the susceptibility to infection, the nasal shedding and the transmissibility of the H7N1 and H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) viruses in the bank vole (Myodes glareolus), a wild rodent common throughout Europe and Asia. Two out of 24 H5N1-infected voles displayed evident respiratory distress, while H7N1-infected voles remained asymptomatic. Viable virus was isolated from nasal washes collected from animals infected with both HPAI viruses, and extra-pulmonary infection was confirmed in both experimental groups. Histopathological lesions were evident in the respiratory tract of infected animals, although immunohistochemistry positivity was only detected in lungs and trachea of two H7N1-infected voles. Both HPAI viruses were transmitted by direct contact, and seroconversion was confirmed in 50% and 12.5% of the asymptomatic sentinels in the H7N1 and H5N1 groups, respectively. Interestingly, viable virus was isolated from lungs and nasal washes collected from contact sentinels of both groups. The present study demonstrated that two non-rodent adapted HPAI viruses caused asymptomatic infection in bank voles, which shed high amounts of the viruses and were able to infect contact voles. Further investigations are needed to determine whether bank voles could be involved as silent hosts in the transmission of HPAI viruses to other mammals and domestic poultry.  相似文献

The odor-active compounds of dry-fermented sausages with added nitrite or nitrate as curing agents were identified by gas chromatography-olfactometry (GC-O) applying the detection frequency (DF) method. The quantification of these compounds in the sausage was determined by multiple headspace solid-phase microextraction (multiple HS-SPME). There were no specific odor-active compounds related to the use of nitrite or nitrate although there were differences in the DF value of several compounds. The nitrite-added sausages presented higher DF values for ethanol, 1-hexanol, propanoic acid, 2-heptenal, and nonanal while the nitrate-added sausages had higher DF values for phenylacetaldehyde and 3-methyl-butanal. Eighteen compounds were quantified by multiple HS-SPME. Most of them were above their air detection thresholds, but only hexanal, heptanal, and 1-octen-3-ol were in a concentration higher than their oil threshold values. These compounds would probably be the main contributors to the aroma of fermented sausages.  相似文献

Carbon 6 (C6)-aldehydes formed by fatty acid 13-hydroperoxide lyase (13HPL) specific to fatty acid 13-hydroperoxides (13-HPO) are important flavor constituents in fresh tomato fruits. C9-aldehydes are usually formed by 9/13HPL showing dual specificity to 9- and 13-HPOs and are scarcely found in tomato fruits. Mature red fruits of one of the introgression lines, IL1-4, generated by hybridization of a cultivated tomato (Solanum lycopersicon) to its wild relative Solanum pennellii, form high amounts of C9-aldehydes upon homogenization. The IL1-4 fruits showed high 9/13HPL activity. One of the genes isolated from IL1-4 showed a high similarity to plant 9/13HPLs. Recombinant proteins expressed in Escherichia coli showed 9/13HPL activity. Cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence analyses indicated that the gene was specific to IL1-4 and S. pennellii. S. lycopersicon had a gene having high similarity to the S. pennellii gene. It was absent in IL1-4. Among the differences of amino acid residues found between the two genes, a Cys to Ser exchange may be responsible for the inactivation of resultant protein product of S. lycopersicon gene because the Cys is an essential amino acid residue for HPL activity. From these observations, it could be assumed that a tomato gene corresponding to S. pennellii 9/13HPL gene had been inactivated through domestication of tomatoes.  相似文献

Ochratoxin A is an important mycotoxin that can enter the human food chain in cereals, wine, coffee, spices, beer, cocoa, dried fruits, and pork meats. Coffee is one of the most common beverages and, consequently, it has a potential risk factor for human health related to ochratoxin A exposure. In this study, coffee and corresponding byproducts from seven different geographic regions were investigated for ochratoxin A natural occurrence by HPLC-FLD, nutritional characterization, and antioxidant activities by spectrophotometric assay. The research focused on composition changes in coffee during the processing step "from field to cup". Costa Rica and Indian green coffees were the most contaminated samples, with 13 and 11 microg/kg, respectively, while the Ethiopian coffee was the least contaminated, with 3.8 microg/kg of ochratoxin A. The reduction of ochratoxin A contamination during the roasting step was comparable for any samples that were considered under the recommended level of 4 microg/kg. Total dietary fibers ranged from 58.7% for Vietnam and 48.6% for Ivory Coast in green coffees and ranged from 58.6% for Costa Rica to 61.2% for India in roasted coffee. Coffee silverskin byproduct obtained from Ivory Coast was the highest, with 69.2 and 64.2% of insoluble dietary fibers, respectively.  相似文献

Viability of maternally heat-stressed mouse zygotes in vivo and in vitro   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Mammalian preimplantation embryos are susceptible to heat stress. This present study examined how maternal heat stress affects the development of mouse zygotes in vivo and in vitro. In Experiment 1, zygotes collected from female mice that were heat‐stressed for 12 h on day 1 of pregnancy were cultured in vitro. Maternally heat‐stressed zygotes developed normally to the two‐cell stage, but the majority of embryos failed to develop into morulae or blastocysts. In Experiment 2, pregnant mice were heat‐stressed on day 1 or from day 1 to day 3 of pregnancy. The number of living fetuses on day 14 of pregnancy was lower in heat‐stressed mice than in non‐stressed mice, but the difference was significant only in successively heat‐stressed mice. These results demonstrate that maternally heat‐stressed zygotes have reduced in vitro viability, but this phenomenon does not necessarily lead to embryo loss in the maternal environment.  相似文献

The effect of soil freeze–thaw cycles on the denitrification potential was examined based on the C2H2 inhibition method. The gross N2O production curve of the soil sample (incubation with C2H2) showed minor changes between the freeze–thaw treatment and the unfrozen control. However, kinetics analysis revealed that the initial production rate, an indicator of the population density of denitrifying communities, decreased (P = 0.043) and the specific growth rate constant, an indicator of the activity of denitrifying communities, increased (P = 0.039) as a result of the freeze–thaw cycles in five of six soil samples examined. The increase in the specific growth rate constant suggested the stimulation of the activity of denitrifying communities that survived after the freeze–thaw cycles and may explain the minor suppression on the gross N2O production in spite of decreasing the population density of denitrifying communities that was suggested by the initial production rate. The net N2O production curve of the soil sample (incubation without C2H2) showed a remarkable change in one out of six soil samples, and in that one soil sample, N2O release to the atmosphere was largely stimulated (7.6 times) by the freeze–thaw cycles. However, the stimulation of the N2O release by the freeze–thaw cycles was even observed in two other selected soil samples (4.6 and 1.8 times), suggesting that an imbalance in the N2O-producing and N2O-reducing activities of denitrifying communities might complementally explain the N2O release stimulated by the freeze–thaw cycles.  相似文献

A method has been developed that uses a mixed solution of NaOH, NaCl and cysteine to digest fish. Inorganic Hg and MgHg were determined by cold vapor atomic absorption (CVAAS) using a selective reduction step with SnCl2 and SnCL2-solutions. Ethyl alcohol was satisfactorily used to prevent excessive foaming. Two optimum digestion procedures were established: (1) using a dry block heater at 90 °C for 1 hr and (2) overnight digestion at 25 to 30 °C. Differences between both were not significant (95%) in the range of 30 to 500 ng g?1 Hg (II) and MeHg in fish. Reduction of the Hg signal due to matrix effects in different fish species was evaluated (95 to 60%). Oily fish, shrimp and lobsters gave the highest reduction. Internal calibration by addition of Hg standards are strongly recommended when exact determinations are needed. The detection limit obtained was near 10 ng g?1. Signals were linear in the concentration range studied (30 to 500 ng g?1). Accuracy of analyses was in the order of 5% or better, with a relative standard deviation of 5%. The method could be applied to other environmental matrices: hair, urine and blood, with some modifications.  相似文献

The interface between decaying plant residues and soil is a hotspot for microbial immobilization of soil inorganic N. Recent studies on forest and grassland soils have demonstrated that rapid abiotic immobilization of inorganic N is also induced by the presence of plant residues. We, therefore, examined (1) how N immobilization varies with distance from the soil-residue interface and (2) whether abiotic immobilization occurs in agricultural soils. Spatiotemporal changes of N immobilization in the soil-residue interface were evaluated using a box that enabled soil to be sampled in 2 mm increments from a 4 mm-thick residue compartment (RC). The RC was filled with paddy soil containing ground plant residue (rice bran, rice straw or beech leaves) uniformly at a rate of 50 g dry matter kg−1. Soil in the surrounding compartments contained no residue. After aerobic incubation for 5, 15 and 30 days at 25 °C, soils in each compartment were analyzed. After 5 days, significant depletion of inorganic N occurred throughout a volume of soil extending at least 10 mm from the RC in all residue treatments, suggesting extensive diffusion of inorganic N towards the RC. The depletion within 10 mm of the RC amounted to 5.0, 4.3 and 3.4 mg for rice bran, rice straw and beech leaf treatment, respectively. On the other hand, microbial N had increased significantly in the RC of the rice bran and rice straw treatments (11 mg and 5.5 mg, respectively) and insignificantly in the RC of the beech leaf treatment (0.06 mg). This increase amounted to 221% (rice bran), 129% (rice straw) and 1.7% (beech leaves) of the decrease in inorganic N within 10 mm of each RC. Thereafter the rate of N mineralization exceeded that of immobilization, and inorganic N levels had recovered almost to their original level by 15 days (rice bran) and 30 days (rice straw and beech leaves). These results suggested the predominance of biotic immobilization in soil near rice bran and rice straw and of abiotic immobilization in soil near beech leaves. No significant increase in both microbial and soluble organic N in the vicinity of beech leaves after incubation for 5 days further suggested that the abiotic process was responsible for the transformation of inorganic N into the insoluble organic N.  相似文献
