Summary
Forest protection and ban on applying DDT
The bans on applying DDT enacted by the governments of BRD an other States are founded politically but not scientifically, DDT is the best and most harmless insecticide we ever have had. Its accumulation within the fat body of animals and men for a certain time does not cause pathological symptoms. Some effects unfavourable to wildlife animals are consequences of incorrect application.In forest protection in Germany DDT is needed also in future for controlling the weevielHylobius abietis, the lepidoptersRhyacionia buoliana andChoristoneura murinana as well as the sawflies of genusDiprion. It is demanded of the legislator to prolong the use of DDT in these cases until equivalent insecticides have been found. Lindan (-BHC)-compounds are not suitable for controllingHylobius beetles. 相似文献

Calosoma sycophanta L.(Col., Carabid.) andNabis apterus F.(Hemipt., Nabid.) were observed attacking and feeding onLymantria monacha, Bupalus piniarus andDiprion spec.-larvae and pupae in some pine stands in southern and northern Bavaria 1965. It is intended to investigate the two species in regard to their biology and importance for biological control measures. In the present paper the faunistical and biological data known until now are summarized.

The spectrum of water vapor is of fundamental importance for a variety of processes, including the absorption and retention of sunlight in Earth's atmosphere. Therefore, there has long been an urgent need for a robust and accurate predictive model for this spectrum. In our work on the high-resolution spectrum of water, we report first-principles calculations that approach experimental accuracy. To achieve this, we performed exceptionally large electronic structure calculations and considered a variety of effects, including quantum electrodynamics, which have routinely been neglected in studies of small many-electron molecules. The high accuracy of the resulting ab initio procedure is demonstrated for the main isotopomers of water. 相似文献
