Two species of lichen native to southwest Lousiana, Parmotrema praesorediosum (Nyl.) Hale and Ramalina stenospora, Mull. Arg. have been investigated as air pollution monitors. Over the period 1983–88 samples were collected at 18 stations in the Lake Charles/Westlake/Sulphur area. The samples were analyzed for A1, Fe, Cu, Pb, Cd, Hg, Cr, and Zn. When metal concentrations in lichens were plotted vs year for certain representative stations, a dramatic reduction in the concentrations of certain metals was seen after 1983. When the most recent data are compared with those previously obtained, the effects of the industrial zone, which was previously demonstrated, have now all but disappeared.  相似文献

Two common species of lichens from southwestern Louisiana, Parmelia praesorediosa and Ramalina stenospora, were analyzed thrice over a period of 9 mo. Samples were analyzed for Th, Cs, Se, Hg, Cr, Ir, Ce, Sc, Rb, Fe, Zn, Co, Ta, Eu, K, and Sb. No statistical differences in concentration over the time interval studied were seen. However, discriminant analysis showed a significant (>90%) difference between elemental content and species. The data could be separated into two geographical areas that were statistically different. Highest concentrations were observed within a 10.8-km radius of the industrial/urban zone.  相似文献

The lichen Ramalina stenospora was collected from 16 location in Calcasieu Parish and from 2 locations in Cameron Parish in Southwestern Louisiana. The metals V, Mn, and Al were measured in lichen specimens collected during three seasons — fall 1983, winter and spring 1984. The metals were determined using thermal neutron activation analysis. Vanadium was found to range in concentration from 2.1 to 10 mg kg?1; and Al from 900 to 4500 mg kg?1. Metal concentration was found to decrease exponentially with distance outward from the industrial corridor. The major industries included were an Al plant, two refineries and five chemical plants mostly related to plastics production.  相似文献

Moss bags are used as collectors of airborne heavy metals in the region surrounding the Zn and Pb smelting complex at Avonmouth, near Bristol, U.K. A land area of 660 km' is studied by exposure of 250 freshly prepared Sphagnum moss bags for 6-week periods. The results are presented as a series of squares computer drawn on maps of the area. Concentrations of metals in exposed mosses range from 4800 ppm Pb, 8200 ppm Zn and 200 ppm Cd, ≈ 700 m from the smelter, to insignificant levels in areas of Wales further than 15 km from the smelter. Metal concentrations are high within the zone of the prevailing winds from Avonmouth, where Pb and Cd values exceed background levels approximately 15-fold, as far as 15 km from the smelter.  相似文献

Near Odda, in West Norway, metal-bearing waters enter the Sorfjord, a tributary of the Hardangerfjord. Unusually high concentrations of Cd, Pb, and Zn are present in marine life over a considerable length of the fjord. Marine life near Odda also contained concentrations of Hg higher than normal. At Fauske, in North Norway, marine organisms contain high concentrations of Cu, but this contamination is confined to a small area of the Skjerstadfjord system.  相似文献

重金属含量是影响水生态环境安全的重要因素,该文意在探索西藏河流水体重金属变化规律。研究了雅鲁藏布江第二大支流尼洋河的Zn、Cu、Mn、Cd、Fe 5种重金属含量时空变化特征和相关性,以及迁移变化机理,对重金属富集程度和污染风险进行了评价。结果表明:尼洋河重金属含量源头较低,中上游位置有突变。Fe、Mn、Cd是影响水质变化的敏感因子。Zn、Cu、Mn含量平水期>枯水期>丰水期。丰水期重金属含量主要受人类活动或水文气象活动影响,平水期及枯水期的Zn、Cu、Mn、Fe含量主要受自然过程影响,枯水期Cd主要受人类活动影响。水库对重金属富集有一定的影响。河源和中下游河段污染较轻,上游河段重金属综合污染指数最高。  相似文献

The concentrations of heavy metals in bottom sediments from urban receiving waters, Kranji Reservoir and MacRitchie Reservoir in Singapore, were investigated. Distribution of the heavy metals in the bottom sediment, interstitial water and overlying water was analysed. The concentration of heavy metals in the interstitial water was found to be significantly high and exceed the water quality criteria by three to eleven times. The partitioning coefficient shows that the solubility of the metals are in the order: Mn > Zn > Cu > Pb > Fe > Al. Fractional composition of heavy metals in the sediments was determined using sequential extraction process. The results show that Cu was largely complexed by organics, 74% of Zn was in easily remobilised fractions, and 36% of Pb was in the easily reducible fraction and 47% in carbonate and ion-exchangeable fractions. Release of sediment-bound metals was studied. The results indicate that, besides pH and redox, the sediment buffering capacity is an important parameter affecting the remobilization of heavy metals from sediment.  相似文献

The value of several biological monitors of the distribution of airborne Cr and Ni dust was studied in the vicinity of ferrochrome and stainless steel works. The following indigenous biomonitors were compared: the forest mosses Pleurozium schreberi and Hylocomium splendens, the epiphytic lichen Hypogymnia physodes, bark of Scots pine (Pinus silvestris), needle litter, earthworms (Dendrobaena octaedra) and moths (mainly Xylena vetusta). Results were compared and related to the heavy metal deposition estimated by the vertical snow sampling method. The representative sampling size at different pollution levels was investigated. In Cr it varied from 1 to 300 mg m?2 a?1. Of the biomonitors studied, the mosses showed most effective accumulation of heavy metals, their results having a clear relationship to the deposition and good replicability. The lichen gave almost as good results as the mosses. Both mosses and lichens collected heavy metals more effectively at low to moderate pollution loads than near the pollution source. The accumulation of heavy metals in bark was lower than in the mosses or lichen. The heavy metal content of earthworms indicated the degree of pollution well, but the replicability of the method was poor. The accumulation of heavy metals in moths was low.  相似文献

调查了贵阳市不同功能区表层土壤中重金属含量及其分布特征,以基线为参比值,采用Hakanson潜在生态危害指数法对重金属的潜在生态风险进行了评价。结果表明,贵阳市城区土壤重金属(Hg、Cd、As、Pb、Cr、Cu、Ni、Zn)主要来源于工业、交通以及燃煤等活动,其平均含量分别为0.108、0.320、20.53、22.17、35.71、64.87、48.65、217.90mg/kg,除Cr外,均显著高于相应基线。工矿区土壤中Pb、Zn含量显著高于其他功能区(p0.05)。Hg和Cd是主要的生态危害因子,其污染已达强生态危害水平,其余均显示为轻微生态危害水平;不同功能区土壤重金属污染均已达强生态危害水平,且污染程度依次是:商务区工矿区文教区居民区城市绿地交通区。  相似文献

为掌握长江干流沿江地区土壤重金属状况,开展土壤表层样品采集和重金属空间分布研究,使用PMF(positive matrix factorization)模型解析土壤重金属来源,并选取地累积和潜在生态风险等方法,评估重金属的污染状况和生态风险。结果表明:1)土壤重金属的积累程度不同,As、Cd和Cu的超标率高,污染明显。Cd和Cu的变异系数高于1.0,分布不匀,受某些污染源的影响显著。2)各重金属含量呈现条带状的空间格局,在多个地区出现高值,土壤环境质量受到人类活动的负面影响。3)土壤重金属积累主要来源于自然、工业排放、交通运输和农业生产,贡献率分别为36.65%、28.48%、20.07%和14.80%。其中Cd与工业活动有关,Pb和Zn来自交通排放,Cr和Ni与自然源密切相关,As和Cu来源于农业生产。4)Cd的污染程度最高,81.88%的点位达到轻度污染。40%以上的点位受到As、Cu、Ni和Pb污染。75%以上点位的Cr和Zn含量较低,污染程度不高。单项生态风险指数的均值从大到小依次为:Cd、As、Ni、Cu、Pb、Zn、Cr。综合生态风险指数均值为63.17,处于轻微风险水平。该研究作为土壤生态调查的核心,可为土壤环境管理和重金属污染修复提供科学依据。  相似文献

Along with Fe and Al, many heavy metals (Mn, Cr, Zn, Cu, and Ni) show a markedly pronounced eluvial-illuvial redistribution in the profiles of soils of the podzolic group. The intensity of the redistribution of the bulk forms of these metals is comparable with that of Fe and exceeds that of Al. Although the podzolic soils are depleted of rare-earth metals, the latter respond readily to soil podzolization. The inactive participation of Al is explained by an insignificant portion of the active reaction-capable fraction. Podzolization does not influence the profile distribution of Sr and Ba. The leaching degree of heavy metals such as Mn, Cr, Zn, Ni, and Zr is noticeably higher in the sandy podzols than in the loamy podzolic soils. Leaching of heavy metals from the podzolic horizons is of geochemical importance, whereas the depletion of metals participating in plant nutrition and biota development is of ecological importance. The leaching of heavy metals is related to the destruction of clay particles in the heavy-textured podzolic soils; the effect of the soil acidity on the leaching of heavy metals is less significant.  相似文献

Afforestation of sandy arable soils in northern Europe is likely to lead to an increase in the soil's acidity and changes in the behaviour of the organic matter, and this might affect the ability of the soil to retain heavy metals. It is important to assess the impact of such a change in the land use on the solubility of the heavy metals and to assess the risk of leaching to surface‐ and groundwater and the possible entrapment of heavy metals in the tree canopy. The impact of afforestation was assessed by excavating soil profiles in adjacent 34‐year‐old Norway spruce stands and arable plots at four different sites. We found that after 34 years the pH had decreased and cations were depleted in the topsoil under forest. The aqua regia‐extractable heavy metals were determined, and the heavy metal binding within the soil was assessed using a modified version of the BCR (Community Bureau of Reference) sequential extraction procedure. Higher contents of heavy metal were found in the arable plots in the loamy sand soils. Cadmium was found only in the most mobile fractions. The content of Pb in the subsoil was strongly correlated with the clay content, but not in the topsoil, which suggested that Pb had been added to the topsoil. We found strong correlations between the clay content and the Cu, Ni and Zn in the residual fraction, leading us to conclude that much of the Cu, Ni and Zn is of geological origin. No significant differences in the heavy metal fractionation between forest and arable soil were found, presumably because 34 years of different land use is not long enough to produce such differences.  相似文献

在对湖州市土壤重金属污染状况进行调查后,按照有关标准和方法对该市土壤重金属潜在生态风险进行了评价。结果表明:单因子污染指数最小的是Pb,最大的是Cd。土壤中Pb含量均达标,其余各重金属元素有部分土壤超标。68.9%的土壤处于安全等级,21.6%的土壤处于警戒限,轻污染土壤占8.1%,重污染土壤占1.4%。68.9%的土壤处于低风险等级,27.0%的土壤处于中等风险等级,强风险等级土壤占2.7%,很强风险等级土壤占1.4%。林地的重金属含量变化幅度普遍大于耕地。耕地土壤污染程度轻于林地。土壤中各重金属对污染的贡献大小为:CdNiCrHgZnCuAsPb。  相似文献

Purpose

River sediment, the important sink and source of heavy metals, can provide critical information for aquatic ecosystem health. Heavy metal pollution has been a serious problem facing river systems worldwide and can adversely affect human beings via the food chain. However, no comprehensive study has been conducted on heavy metal pollution in sediments of river systems in the hilly area of southern China, which plays a key role in water supply and ecosystem balance. This study is aimed at comprehensively studying the pollution status of heavy metals in river sediments in the hilly area of southern China and apportioning sources.

Materials and methods

A total of 39 superficial sediment samples were collected from the upstream, midstream, and downstream of 13 rivers (Xiangjiang River, Zishui River, Yuanjiang River, and Lishui River located in Hunan Province; Ganjiang River, Xinjiang River, Fuhe River, Raohe River), and Xiushui River located in Jiangxi Province; Qiantangjiang River and Oujiang River located in Zhejiang Province; Minjiang River and Jiulongjiang River located in Fujian Province) in the hilly area of southern China. The total concentrations of metals of Mn, Zn, Cr, Co, Ni, Cu, As, Cd, Sb, Pb, and V were analyzed using the inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry method. The pollution status and potential ecological risk were assessed with the geoaccumulation index (Igeo), sediment quality guidelines (SQGs), and potential ecological risk index (RI). The source apportionment of heavy metals was performed by correlation analysis and principle component analysis (PCA).

Results and discussion

Results indicated that Mn, Zn, and Pb concentrations were significantly higher than other metals, especially in the upstream of the Jiulong River and midstream and downstream of the Xiangjiang River. Pollution assessment indicated that Cd pollution of sediments was most serious and that more than 50% of sampling sites were significantly polluted, with a very high potential ecological risk. The rivers in Hunan provinces (HN) were identified as the priority controlled rivers because of the high Igeo and RI index values. Correlation and PCA analysis indicated that Mn, Pb, and Zn originated from natural and mineral exploitation activities; As, V, Ni, and Sb originated from industrial wastewater and mineral-smelting activities; Cu and Co originated from agricultural activities; Cr and Ni originated from natural sources. While the most polluted Cd came from a combination of multiple sources described above.

Conclusions

Results indicated that Cd was the most common heavy metal pollutant, especially in river sediments of Hunan Province. Anthropogenic activities have become the main source of heavy metals in the river sediments of the hilly area of southern China. Special attention should be paid to Cd, and measures must be taken to prevent from further anthropogenic influence on heavy metal pollution.

Abstract

In order to quantify the uptake by lettuce plants (Lactuca sativa L.) of heavy metals contained in the phosphate fertilizers and to evaluate their residual bioavailability in the growth substrate a greenhouse experiment was carried out. The superphosphate added to the soil contained varying amounts of heavy metals, particularly Cd, Cr and Zn which accumulated in the soil and increased the amounts available for plant uptake. The accumulation of metals observed in the plant tissues did not have physiological effects on lettuce and did not affect negatively the growth of the plants. The heavy metal speciation in soil indicated that metals extractable by EDTA increased by increasing the phosphorus added. These amounts of metals, adsorbed or complexed in the soil after harvest, represent in protected environments a potentially bioavailable species for the following cultivations.  相似文献

Samples of the epiphytic bromeliad Tillandsia usneoides L. (Bromeliaceae) and the lichen Parmotrema praesorediosum (Nyl.) Hale, growing on bald cypress trees in southern Louisiana, were chemically examined by means of X-ray micro-probe analysis to determine their comparative elemental content. The plants were found to effectively bio-accumulate heavy metals and sulfur from the atmosphere; the accumulatory capacities and implications are discussed. Partitioning occurs within the plants of T. usneoides and consequently any analytical procedure should standardise on precisely which parts are to be analysed. The bio- accumulation of certain heavy metals such as manganese, nickel and cadmium increases with age of the T. usneoides.  相似文献

以乐清湾养殖区表层沉积物中Cu等7种重金属为研究对象,在野外实地调查取样及重金属含量测定基础上,以中国海洋沉积物质量(GB18668-2002)一类标准值为评价标准,利用单因子指数评价法、内梅罗综合污染指数评价法和沉积物质量基准(sediment quality guideline,SQG),对单项重金属污染程度、多种重金属综合污染效应及重金属潜在生物毒性风险进行了评价。结果表明,乐清湾养殖区表层沉积物重金属含量分布差别明显,所有采样点表层沉积物均受到Cu污染,局部受到严重Hg污染;大部分养殖区表层沉积物重金属污染达到轻度等级;所有养殖区均可发生由Cu偶尔引起的不利生物毒性效应,个别养殖区可发生由Hg频繁引发的不利生物毒性效应。乐清湾养殖区表层沉积物重金属主要来源于沿岸电镀企业废水排放及农药化肥造成的农业面源污染。开展Cu、Hg污染治理修复是实现乐清湾养殖环境安全的迫切需求。  相似文献
