Andover may be used as an early to midseason tablestock and chipstock variety. It has a very rapid emergence and early tuber set. The vine maturity is similar to Superior in the absence of severe stress. In New York trials harvested 90 days after planting, the yields of Andover and Superior are nearly equal, 274 cwt/A. At 120 days, over eight seasons at two Ithaca locations, Andover yielded 87% Atlantic. Andover appears to be susceptible to drought and heat stress which can cause early senescence and reduce late season yields. It has few external and internal defectS. Specific gravity is high for an early variety, being .009 less than Atlantic. Andover has excellent chip color from the field from a range of environments and from 7 C storage. It has good boiling and baking properties. The mealiness of the baked potatoes is especially good. Tuber dormancy is two weeks longer than Atlantic. The reaction to common scab is like that of Monona, which is considered to be resistant. It is also resistant to powdery scab and the golden nematode. 相似文献

Reba has a bright clear skin, attractive shape and cooking qualities that make it suitable for tablestock. The chip color from 7° storage has been equal to that of Monona. The specific gravity of Reba is .013 less than Atlantic and .007 greater than Monona. In upstate New York and Pennsylvania trials, Reba has produced a marketable yield about 9% greater than Atlantic. On Long Island and New Jersey, Reba has yielded about 14% greater than Superior. Reba is resistant to race Ro1 of the golden nematode, as resistant to scab as Monona, and moderately resistant to Verticillium wilt. 相似文献

Pike is a chipstock variety released jointly by the Cornell and Pennsylvania Experiment Stations in March 1996. Pike has a specific gravity comparable to Atlantic and the ability to produce light-colored chips after 7 C storage. Most of the chip color data were taken in December, January, and February. It has scab resistance comparable to that of Superior and is golden nematode resistant. It is a full season variety, somewhat earlier than Snowden. In 23 trials in New York, internal necrosis and hollow heart of Pike was 5% compared to 18% for Atlantic. When grown at high temperatures, Pike is susceptible to a unique expression o f heat necrosis that is net-like in appearance which is different from the internal brown spot of Atlantic. The yield has been about 95% of the yield of Atlantic. 相似文献

Jacqueline Lee has a bright golden skin, yellow flesh, attractive oval shape, and excellent cooking qualities that make it suitable for tablestock use. In addition, it has been determined to have a high level of foliar resistance to the US-8 genotype ofPhytophthora infestans (Mont.) de Bary under Michigan field and greenhouse conditions. It is a full-season variety with vine maturity similar to Snowden. Jacqueline Lee has high yield potential. It has a high set (14–16 tubers/hill) of medium sized tubers that leads to 65%–80% marketable yield. Tubers are low in internal and external defects. It has a scab reaction similar to Atlantic, and the tubers have been observed to have a long dormancy. 相似文献

Michigan Purple is a purple-skinned tablestock variety. The tubers have an attractive round-ovoid shape and a strong iridescent purple skin. It has a medium set of bright purple-skinned tubers similar in shape to Norland. The tuber flesh is white; it has few internal defects and does not darken after cooking. Under irrigated conditions the yield is high and specific gravity intermediate. Michigan Purple has mid-early vine maturity. 相似文献

Carlton, an early sizing, oval, white-skinned potato variety was released by Agriculture Canada in 1982. Its tubers size as early as Warba making it suitable for the first early market, while its eyes are much shallower. Its yielding pattern was very similar to that of Warba when harvested at 75, 89 and 103 days from planting and to those of Norland and Norchip at maincrop harvest at a wide range of locations on the Canadian prairies. Boiling quality was similar to Warba while early chipping quality was better. No serious problem has been encountered in nearly twenty years of testing. 相似文献

Hampton is a golden nematode resistant variety suited for main season tablestock production. It is resistant toVerticillium wilt, but susceptible to scab and late blight. Hampton yields as well as Katahdin and produces essentially the same distribution of tuber sizes. Its shape is distinctively spherical with shallow eyes. Its specific gravity is like Katahdin and it will not produce acceptably light colored potato chips. 相似文献

The Islander potato variety is a medium maturing variety with oblong, shallow-eyed, white-skinned tubers. High dry matter and good chip color characterize this variety which is better adapted to Long Island, New York and New Jersey than to other northeastern areas. It is resistant to golden nematode and net necrosis; moderately resistant to common scab and early blight; and less susceptible than most varieties to acid scab and Rhizoctonia. The Islander is a product of the cross Chipbelle × Norchip. 相似文献

‘Marcy’ is a white-skinned, white-fleshed potato cultivar notable for its high yield, good chip color, and resistance to common scab and race Ro1 of the golden cyst nematode. It was selected from a cross made at Cornell University in 1990 between ‘Atlantic’ and Q155-3. Full-season marketable yields of Marcy have averaged 15% to 20% greater than Atlantic in 83 trials across New York, Maine, and Pennsylvania. Specific gravity of Marcy has averaged 0.008 less than Atlantic. Chip color out of 7 C storage in New York has been similar to ‘Pike’, but not as light as ‘Snowden’. Marcy tubers have an attractive oval shape, shallow eyes, and highly textured skin. Marcy was jointly released by the New York and Pennsylvania Agricultural Experiment Stations in 2002. 相似文献

Allegany is a golden nematode resistant variety with potential for both tablestock and chipping. It is late in vine maturity and when allowed to grow full season, has very high yield potential. In the Northeast, the specific gravity and chip color of tubers soon after harvest and after 10°C storage are comparable to Norchip. The tubers have exceptionally long dormancy Allegany is resistant to early blight, Verticillium wilt, and scab as well as the golden nematode. 相似文献

Castile is a golden nematode Race A (Globodera rostochiensis) resistant potato variety with the potential to produce high marketable yields of attractive tubers suitable for tablestock and processing. Tubers are oblong to long, slightly flattened with a smooth white skin and moderately shallow eyes. Vines of this variety are large, providing a dense canopy, and require a full growing season similar to that needed for Katahdin. Timely irrigation produces high marketable yields, stress conditions can limit yields. Specific gravity in New York State averages 0.005 above Katahdin and 0.009 below Atlantic. Tuber flesh is bright white. Baking and french fry quality is good. Chip color, when tubers are stored at 10 C for 120 days, is equivalent to Atlantic. Castile is resistant to corky ring spot, pinkeye, and moderately resistant to Fusarium rot. 相似文献

The Yankee Chipper potato is a medium maturing variety with round to oblong, smooth, white-skinned tubers. Acceptable yields, good dry matter and light chip color characterize this widely adapted variety. It is resistant to golden nematode and virus X, and tubers do not show the net necrosis associated with leafroll virus infection. 相似文献
