Microbial adaptation to salinity can be achieved through synthesis of organic osmolytes, which requires high amounts of energy;however,a single addition of plant residues can only temporarily improve energy supply to soil microbes. Therefore,a laboratory incubation experiment was conducted to evaluate the responses of soil microbes to increasing salinity with repeated additions of plant residues using a loamy sand soil with an electrical conductivity in saturated paste extract(ECe) of 0.6 dS m-1.The soil was kept non-saline or salinized by adding different amounts of NaCl to achieve ECe of 12.5,25.0 and 50.0 dS m-1.The non-saline soil and the saline soils were amended with finely ground pea residues at two rates equivalent to 3.9 and 7.8 g C kg-1 soil on days 0,15 and29.The soils receiving no residues were included as a control.Cumulative respiration per g C added over 2 weeks after each residue addition was always greater at 3.9 than 7.8 g C kg-1 soil and higher in the non-saline soil than in the saline soils. In the saline soils, the cumulative respiration per g C added was higher after the second and third additions than after the first addition except with3.9 g C kg-1 at ECe of 50 dS m1.Though with the same amount of C added(7.8 g C kg-1),salinity reduced soil respiration to a lesser extent when 3.9 g C kg-1 was added twice compared to a single addition of 7.8 g C kg-1.After the third residue addition, the microbial biomass C concentration was significantly lower in the soils with ECe of 25 and 50 dS m1 than in the non-saline soil at3.9 g C kg-1,but only in the soil with ECe of 50 dS m-1 at 7.8 g C kg-1.We concluded that repeated residue additions increased the adaptation of soil microbial community to salinity, which was likely due to high C availability providing microbes with the energy needed for synthesis of organic osmolytes.  相似文献

In the tropics, frequent nitrogen(N)fertilization of grazing areas can potentially increase nitrous oxide(N2O)emissions.The application of nitrification inhibitors has been reported as an effective management practice for potentially reducing N loss from the soil-plant system and improving N use efficiency(NUE).The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the co-application of nitrapyrin(a nitrification inhibitor,NI)and urea in a tropical Andosol on the behavior of N and the emissions of N2O from autotrophic and heterotrophic nitrification.A greenhouse experiment was performed using a soil(pH 5.9,organic matter content 78 g kg-1,and N 5.6 g kg-1)sown with Cynodon nlemfuensis at 60%water-filled pore space to quantify total N2O emissions,N2O derived from fertilizer, soil ammonium(NH4+)and nitrate(NO3-),and NUE.The study included treatments that received deionized water only(control,NI).No significant differences were observed in soil NH4+content between the UR and UR+NI treatments, probably because of soil mineralization and NO3-produced by heterotrophic nitrification, which is not effectively inhibited by nitrapyrin. After 56 d,N2O emissions in UR(0.51±0.12 mg N2O-N concluded that the soil organic N mineralization and heterotrophic nitrification are the main processes of NH4+and NO3-production.Additionally,it was found that N2O emissions were partially a consequence of the direct oxidation of the soil's organic N via heterotrophic nitrification coupled to denitrification. Finally, the results suggest that nitrapyrin would likely exert significant mitigation on N2O emissions only if a substantial N surplus exists in soils with high organic matter content.  相似文献

The mechanism of vegetation restoration on degraded karst regions has been a research focus of soil science and ecology for the last decade. In an attempt to preferably interpret the soil microbiological characteristic variation associated with vegetation restoration and further to explore the role of soil microbiology in vegetation restoration mechanism of degraded karst regions,we measured microbial biomass C and basal respiration in soils during vegetation restoration in Zhenfeng County of southwestern Guizhou Province,China. The community level physiological profiles(CLPP) of the soil microbial community to were estimated determine if vegetation changes were accompanied by changes in functioning of soil microbial communities. The results showed that soil microbial biomass C and microbial quotient(microbial biomass C/organic C) tended to increase with vegetation restoration, being in the order arboreal community stage > shrubby community stage > herbaceous community stage > bare land stage.Similar trend was found in the change of basal respiration(BR).The metabolic quotient(the ratio of basal respiration to microbial biomass,qCO 2) decreased with vegetation restoration, and remained at a constantly low level in the arboreal community stage.Analyses of the CLPP data indicated that vegetation restoration tended to result in higher average well color development, substrate richness, and functional diversity.Average utilization of specific substrate guilds was highest in the arboreal community stage.Principle component analysis of the CLPP data further indicated that the arboreal community stage was distinctly different from the other three stages. In conclusion, vegetation restoration improved soil microbial biomass C,respiration, and utilization of carbon sources, and decreased qCO 2,thus creating better soil conditions, which in turn could promote the restoration of vegetation on degraded karst regions.  相似文献

小麦生长期间施肥后土壤微生物生物量C和P的变化   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A pot experiment was carried out with a clay loam in a green house. The results showed that soil microbial biomass C increased with the application of organic manure at the beginning of the experiment and then gradually decreased with declining of the temperature .The soil biomass C increased at the tillering stage when the temperature gradually increased, and rose to the highest value at the anthesis stage, being about 554.9-794.4mg C kg^-1,The applicatio of organic manure resulted in the highest increase in biomass C among the fertiliztion treatments while that of ammonium sulphate gave the lowest At the harvest time the soil biomass C decreased to the presowing level. Like the soil biomass C the amount of biomass P was increased by the incorporation of organic manure and was the highest among the treatments, with the values of the check and ammonium sulphate treatments being the lowest ,Meanwhile, the changing patterns of the C/P ratio of soil microbial biomass at stages of wheat growth are also described.  相似文献

Pb-Zn交互作用对红壤微生物生物量的影响   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A laboratory incubation experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of lead and zinc applied alone or in various combinations on the size of microbial biomass in a red soil. Treatments included the application of lead at six different levels i. e., 0 (background), 100, 200, 300, 450 and 600 g g-1 soil along with each of the four levels of zinc (0, 50, 150 or 250 g g-1 soil). Application of lead or zinc alone to soil significantly (P < 0. 001) affected the soil microbial biomass. The microbial biomass carbon (Cmic), biomass nitrogen (Nmic) and biomass phosphorus (Pmic) decreased sharply in soils contaminated with lead or zinc. Combined application of lead and zinc resulted in a greater biocidal effect on soil microbial biomass, which was significantly higher (P < 0. 001) than that when either lead or zinc was applied alone. Consistent increase in the biomass C: N and decline in the biomass C:P ratios were also observed with the increased metal (Pb and Zn) toxicity in the soil.  相似文献

Dynamics of soil organic matter in a cultivation chronosequence of paddy fields were studied in subtropical China. Mineralization of soil organic matter was determined by measuring CO2 evolution from soil during 20 days of laboratory incubation. In the first 30 years of cultivation, soil organic C and N contents increased rapidly. After 30 years, 0-10 cm soil contained 19.6 g kg^-1 organic C and 1.62 g kg^-1 total N, with the corresponding values of 18.1 g kg^-1 and 1.50 g kg^-1 for 10-20 cm, and then remained stable even after 80 years of rice cultivation. During 20 days incubation the mineralization rates of organic C and N in surface soil (0-10 cm) ranged from 2.2% to 3.3% and from 2.8% to 6.7%, respectively, of organic C and total N contents. Biologically active C size generally increased with increasing soil organic C and N contents. Soil dissolved organic C decreased after cultivation of wasteland to 10 years paddy field and then increased. Soil microbial biomass C increased with number of years under cultivation, while soil microbial biomass N increased during the first 30 years of cultivation and then stabilized. After 30 years of cultivation surface soil (0-10 cm) contained 332.8 mg kg^-1 of microbial biomass C and 23.85 mg kg^-1 of microbial biomass N, which were 111% and 47% higher than those in soil cultivated for 3 years. It was suggested that surface soil with 30 years of rice cultivation in subtropical China would have attained a steady state of organic C content, being about 19 g kg^-1.  相似文献

Earthworms can promote the bioremediation of contaminated soils through enhancing plant growth and microorganism development. The individual and combined effects of earthworms and ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) on the removal of fluoranthene from a sandy-loam alluvial soil were investigated in a 70-d microcosm experiment. The experiment was set up in a complete factorial design with treatments in four replicates: without earthworms or ryegrass (control, CK), with earthworms only (E), with ryegrass only (P), and with both earthworms and ryegrass (EP). The residual fluoranthene, microbial biomass C, and polyphenol oxidase activity in the soil changed significantly (P<0.01) with time. In general, the residual concentration of fluoranthene in the soil decreased sharply from 71.8-88.7 to 31.7-37.4 mg kg 1 in 14 d, and then decreased gradually to 19.7-30.5 mg kg 1 on the 70th d. The fluoranthene concentration left in the soil was the least with both earthworms and ryegrass, compared to the other treatments at the end of the experiment. Half-life times of fluoranthene in the E, P, and EP treatments were 17.8%-36.3% smaller than that of CK. More fluoranthene was absorbed by earthworms than ryegrass. However, the total amounts of fluoranthene accumulated in both the ryegrass and earthworms were small, only accounting for 0.01%-1.20% of the lost fluoranthene. Therefore, we assumed that microbial degradation would play a dominant functional role in fluoranthene removal from soil. We found that earthworms significantly increased microbial biomass C and polyphenol oxidase activity (P<0.01) in the presence of ryegrass at the end of the experiment. Furthermore, microbial biomass C and polyphenol oxidase activity were significantly (P<0.05) and negatively related to the residual fluoranthene concentration. This implied that earthworms might promote the removal of fluoranthene from soil via stimulating microbial biomass C and polyphenol oxidase activity.  相似文献

Earthworms, one of the most important macroinvertebrates in terrestrial ecosystems of temperate zones, exert important influences on soil functions.A laboratory microcosm study was conducted to evaluate the influence of the earthworm Eisenia fetida on wheat straw decomposition and nutrient cycling in an agricultural soil in a reclaimed salinity area of the North China Plain. Each microcosm was simulated by thoroughly mixing wheat straw into the soil and incubated for 120 d with earthworms added at 3 different densities as treatments:control with no earthworms, regular density(RD)with two earthworms, and increased density(ID)with six earthworms. The results showed that there was no depletion of carbon and nitrogen pools in the presence of the earthworms.Basal soil respiration rates and metabolic quotient increased with the increase in earthworm density during the initial and middle part of the incubation period. In contrast, concentrations of microbial biomass carbon and microbial biomass quotient decreased in the presence of earthworms.Earthworm activity stimulated the transfer of microbial biomass carbon to dissolved organic carbon and could lead to a smaller, but more metabolically active microbial biomass.Concentrations of inorganic nitrogen and NO3--N increased significantly with the increase in earthworm density at the end of the incubation(P<0.05),resulting in a large pool of inorganic nitrogen available for plant uptake.Cumulative net nitrogen mineralization rates were three times higher in the ID treatment than the RD treatment.  相似文献

The responses of soil microbes to global warming and nitrogen enrichment can profoundly affect terrestrial ecosystem functions and the ecosystem feedbacks to climate change. However, the interactive effect of warming and nitrogen enrichment on soil microbial community is unclear. In this study, individual and interactive effects of experimental warming and nitrogen addition on the soil microbial community were investigated in a long-term field experiment in a temperate steppe of northern China. The field experiment started in 2006 and soils were sampled in 2010 and analyzed for phospholipid fatty acids to characterize the soil microbial communities. Some soil chemical properties were also determined. Five-year experimental warming significantly increased soil total microbial biomass and the proportion of Gram-negative bacteria in the soils. Long-term nitrogen addition decreased soil microbial biomass at the 0-10 cm soil depth and the relative abundance of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in the soils. Little interactive effect on soil microbes was detected when experimental warming and nitrogen addition were combined. Soil microbial biomass positively correlated with soil total C and N, but basically did not relate to the soil C/N ratio and pH. Our results suggest that future global warming or nitrogen enrichment may significantly change the soil microbial communities in the temperate steppes in northern China.  相似文献

Microorganisms play a key role in the response of soil ecosystems to the rising atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) as they mineralize organic matter and drive nutrient cycling. To assess the effects of elevated CO2 on soil microbial C and N immobilization and on soil enzyme activities, in years 8 (2006) and 9 (2007) of an open-top chamber experiment that begun in spring of 1999, soil was sampled in summer, and microbial biomass and enzyme activity related to the carbon (C), nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) cycling were measured. Although no effects on microbial biomass C were detected, changes in microbial biomass N and metabolic activity involving C, N and P were observed under elevated CO2. Invertase and dehydrogenase activities were significantly enhanced by different degrees of elevated CO2. Nitrifying enzyme activity was significantly (P < 0.01) increased in the August 2006 samples that received the elevated CO2 treatment, as compared to the samples that received the ambient treatment. Denitrifying enzyme activity was significantly (P < 0.04) decreased by elevated CO2 treatments in the August 2006 and June 2007 (P < 0.09) samples. β-N-acetylglucosaminidase activity was increased under elevated CO2 by 7% and 25% in June and August 2006, respectively, compared to those under ambient CO2. The results of June 2006 samples showed that acid phosphatase activity was significantly enhanced under elevated CO2. Overall, these results suggested that elevated CO2 might cause changes in the belowground C, N and P cycling in temperate forest soils.  相似文献

The turnover of organic matter determines the availability of plant nutrients in unfertilized soils, and this applies particularly to the alkaline saline soil of the former Lake Texcoco in Mexico. We investigated the effects of alkalinity and salinity on dynamics of organic material and inorganic N added to the soil. Glucose labelled with 14C was added to soil of the former Lake Texcoco drained for different lengths of time, and dynamics of 14C, C and N were investigated with the Detran model. Soil was sampled from an undrained plot and from three drained for 1, 5 and 8 years, amended with 1000 mg 14C‐labelled glucose kg?1 and 200 mg NH4+‐N kg?1, and incubated aerobically. Production of 14CO2 and CO2, dynamics of NH4+, NO2 and NO3, and microbial biomass 14C, C and N were monitored and simulated with the Detran model. A third stable microbial biomass fraction had to be introduced in the model to simulate the dynamics of glucose, because > 90 mg 14C kg?1 soil persisted in the soil microbial biomass after 97 days. The observed priming effect was mostly due to an increased decay of soil organic matter, but an increased turnover of the microbial biomass C contributed somewhat to the phenomenon. The dynamics of NH4+ and NO3 in the NH4+‐amended soil could not be simulated unless an immobilization of NH4+ into the microbial biomass occurred in the first day of the incubation without an immediate incorporation of it into microbial organic material. The dynamics of C and a priming effect could be simulated satisfactorily, but the model had to be adjusted to simulate the dynamics of N when NH4+ was added to alkaline saline soils.  相似文献

A laboratory incubation experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of magnesium chloride–induced salinity on carbon dioxide (CO2) evolution and nitrogen (N) mineralization in a silty loam nonsaline alkaline soil. Magnesium chloride (MgCl2) salinity was induced at 0, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 30, and 40.0 dS m?1 and measured CO2 evolution and N mineralization during 30 days of incubation. Both CO2 evolution and N mineralization decreased significantly with increasing salinity. The cumulative CO2 evolution decreased from 235 mg kg?1 soil at electrical conductivity (EC) 0.65 dS m?1 to 11.9 mg kg?1 soil at 40 dS m?1 during 30 days of incubation. Similarly, N mineralization decreased from 185.4 mg kg?1 at EC 0.65 dS m?1 to 34.45 mg kg?1 at EC 40.0 dS m?1 during the same period. These results suggested that increasing magnesium chloride salinity from 4 dS m?1 adversely affect microbial activity in terms of carbon dioxide evolution and N mineralization.  相似文献

NaCl and Na2SO4 often dominate salt compositions in saline soils. While either salt alone affects soil organic matter mineralization, their interactions on soil organic matter dynamics are unknown. This study aimed to investigate interactive effects of the two salts on organic C mineralization and microbial biomass C of the saline soils after addition of maize straws. Both NaCl and Na2SO4 were applied at 0, 40 and 80 mmol Na kg−1 soil and the incubation was undertaken at soil water content of 15% and 20% (w/w) in dark at 28.5 °C for 70 days. The study found significant interactions of NaCl and Na2SO4 on CO2-C evolution during the early incubation periods—a suppressing effect at days 1-2 but a stimulating effect at days 6-8 and 17-20, and thereafter the salt interactions were influenced by water content. The interactions of water content with NaCl or Na2SO4 on CO2-C evolution were observed through the incubation periods except days 1-2, showing that the salt effects were dependent on water content. Total CO2 evolution over the 70-day-long incubation decreased with increasing NaCl but increased with increasing Na2SO4 compared to the nil-salted treatment. Salt interactions on soil microbial biomass C were observed at days 7, 21, but not at day 49. Microbial biomass C increased at day 7 in the soils treated with either NaCl or Na2SO4 but decreased where the two salts were combined. At day 21, microbial biomass C increased with NaCl but decreased with Na2SO4 regardless whether the counterpart salt was added. The results suggest that soil organic C mineralization can be affected by the interactions of NaCl and Na2SO4, possibly through the salt-induced changes in microbial biomass community structure.

The soil of the former lake Texcoco is an ‘extreme’ alkaline saline soil with pH > 10 and electrolytic conductivity (EC) > 150 dS m−1. These conditions have created a unique environment. Application of wastewater sludge to Texcoco soil showed that large amounts of NH4+ were immobilized, NO3 was reduced aerobically, NO2 was formed and the mineralization of the organic material in the sludge was inhibited. A series of experiments were initiated to study the processes that inhibited the decomposition of organic material and affected the dynamics of mineral N. The large EC and pH inhibited the decomposition of easily decomposable organic material such as glucose and maize, although cellulolytic activity was observed in soil with pH 9.8 and EC 32.7 dS m−1. The high soil pH favoured NH3 volatilization of approximately 50 mg N kg−1 soil within a day and a similar amount could be fixed on the soil matrix due to the dispersed minerals and their volcanic origin. Soil microorganisms immobilized large amounts of NH4+ within a day when glucose was added to soil in excess of what was required for metabolic activity. Removal of NO3 from soil amended with glucose was not inhibited by 100% O2 and NH4+ indicating that the contribution of denitrification and assimilatory reduction to the reduction of NO3 was minimal while the formation of NO2 was not inhibited by 0.1% acetylene, known to inhibit nitrification. Additionally, the reduction of NO3 in the glucose-amended alkaline saline Texcoco soil was followed by an increase in the amount of NH4+, which could not be due to denitrification. It was concluded that the reduction of NO3 and the formation of NO2 and NH4+ in the glucose-amended soil was a result of aerobic NO3 reduction. A phylogenetic analysis of the archaeal community in the soil of the former lake Texcoco showed that some of the clones identified were capable of reducing NO3 aerobically to NO2 when glucose was added. A study of the diversity of the bacterial dissimilatory and respiratory nitrate-reducing communities indicated that bacteria could have contributed to the process.  相似文献

Microwave irradiation was evaluated as a non-toxic alternate to chloroform fumigation for routine measurement of soil microbial biomass C. Microwave energy was applied to moist soil to disrupt microbial cells. The flush of C released was then measured after extraction or incubation. Microwave irradiation at 800 J g–1 soil was optimal because this level resulted in an almost instantaneous rise in soil temperature (≥80  °C), an abrupt reduction in microbial activity, maximal release of biomass C, and minimal solubilization of humic substances. Both incubation-CO2 titration and extraction-colorimetry methods were used on separate 20-g subsamples to compare the labile C in the microwave-treated and untreated soil samples. The incubation-titration method was also used to measure C in chloroform-fumigated soil samples. Averaged across soils, the chloroform fumigation yielded 123.3±5.1 mg CO2-C kg–1. Microwave irradiation yielded 93.6±3.9 mg CO2-C kg–1 soil determined by incubation and 52.4±2.4 mg C kg–1 soil determined by extraction, accounting for 76% and 42% of the net flush of C measured by the chloroform fumigation. Microwave-stimulated net flushes of C were correlated closely (r 2=0.974 for incubation or 0.908 for extraction) with microbial biomass C measured by the chloroform fumigation. Little correlation was found with the total soil organic C (r 2=0.241 for incubation or for 0.166 extraction). Mean efficiency factors for incubation (K MI) or extraction (K ME) were used to calculate microbial biomass C from net flushes of C between microwaved and unmicrowaved soils. Values of K MI and K ME were not affected by soil pH, bulk density or clay contents. Extraction of microwaved soil by 0.5M K2SO4 proved to be a simple, fast, precise, reliable, and safe method to measure soil microbial biomass C. Received: 12 September 1997  相似文献

An arable soil with organic matter formed from C3-vegetation was amended initially with maize cellulose (C4-cellulose) and sugarcane sucrose (C4-sucrose) in a 67-day laboratory incubation experiment with microcosms at 25 °C. The amount and isotopic composition (13C/12C) of soil organic C, CO2 evolved, microbial biomass C, and microbial residue C were determined to prove whether the formation of microbial residues depends on the quality of the added C source adjusted with NH4NO3 to the same C/N ratio of 15. In a subsequent step, C3-cellulose (3 mg C g−1 soil) was added without N to soil to determine whether the microbial residues formed initially from C4-substrate are preferentially decomposed to maintain the N-demand of the soil microbial community. At the end of the experiment, 23% of the two C4-substrates added was left in the soil, while 3% and 4% of the added C4-cellulose and C4-sucrose, respectively, were found in the microbial biomass. The addition of the two C4-substrates caused a significant 100% increase in C3-derived CO2 evolution during the 5-33 day incubation period. The addition of C3-cellulose caused a significant 50% increase in C4-derived CO2 evolution during the 38-67 day incubation period. The decrease in microbial biomass C4-C accounted for roughly 60% of this increase. Cellulose addition promoted microorganisms strongly able to recycle N immediately from their own tissue by “cryptic growth” instead of incorporating NO3 from the soil solution. The differences in quality of the microbial residues produced by C4-cellulose and C4-sucrose decomposing microorganisms are also reflected by the difference in the rates of CO2 evolution, but not in the rates of net N mineralization.  相似文献

Two processes contribute to changes of the δ13C signature in soil pools: 13C fractionation per se and preferential microbial utilization of various substrates with different δ13C signature. These two processes were disentangled by simultaneously tracking δ13C in three pools - soil organic matter (SOM), microbial biomass, dissolved organic carbon (DOC) - and in CO2 efflux during incubation of 1) soil after C3-C4 vegetation change, and 2) the reference C3 soil. The study was done on the Ap horizon of a loamy Gleyic Cambisol developed under C3 vegetation. Miscanthus giganteus - a perennial C4 plant - was grown for 12 years, and the δ13C signature was used to distinguish between ‘old’ SOM (>12 years) and ‘recent’ Miscanthus-derived C (<12 years). The differences in δ13C signature of the three C pools and of CO2 in the reference C3 soil were less than 1‰, and only δ13C of microbial biomass was significantly different compared to other pools. Nontheless, the neglecting of isotopic fractionation can cause up to 10% of errors in calculations. In contrast to the reference soil, the δ13C of all pools in the soil after C3-C4 vegetation change was significantly different. Old C contributed only 20% to the microbial biomass but 60% to CO2. This indicates that most of the old C was decomposed by microorganisms catabolically, without being utilized for growth. Based on δ13C changes in DOC, CO2 and microbial biomass during 54 days of incubation in Miscanthus and reference soils, we concluded that the main process contributing to changes of the δ13C signature in soil pools was preferential utilization of recent versus old C (causing an up to 9.1‰ shift in δ13C values) and not 13C fractionation per se.Based on the δ13C changes in SOM, we showed that the estimated turnover time of old SOM increased by two years per year in 9 years after the vegetation change. The relative increase in the turnover rate of recent microbial C was 3 times faster than that of old C indicating preferential utilization of available recent C versus the old C.Combining long-term field observations with soil incubation reveals that the turnover time of C in microbial biomass was 200 times faster than in total SOM. Our study clearly showed that estimating the residence time of easily degradable microbial compounds and biomarkers should be done at time scales reflecting microbial turnover times (days) and not those of bulk SOM turnover (years and decades). This is necessary because the absence of C reutilization is a prerequisite for correct estimation of SOM turnover. We conclude that comparing the δ13C signature of linked pools helps calculate the relative turnover of old and recent pools.  相似文献

Although to date individual gross N transformations could be quantified by ~(15)N tracing method and models, studies are still limited in paddy soil.An incubation experiment was conducted using topsoil(0-20 cm) and subsoil(20-60 cm) of two paddy soils, alkaline and clay(AC) soil and neutral and silt loam(NSL) soil,to investigate gross N transformation rates.Soil samples were labeled with either ~(15)NH4_NO_3 or NH_4~(15)NO_3,and then incubated at 25 °C for 168 h at 60%water-holding capacity. The gross N mineralization(recalcitrant and labile organic N mineralization) rates in AC soil were 1.6 to 3.3 times higher than that in NSL soil, and the gross N nitrification(autotrophic and heterotrophic nitrification) rates in AC soil were 2.4 to 4.4 times higher than those in NSL soil.Although gross NO_3~- consumption(i.e.,NO_3~- immobilization and dissimilatory NO_3~- reduction to NH_4~+ rates increased with increasing gross nitrification rates, the measured net nitrification rate in AC soil was approximately 2.0 to 5.1 times higher than that in NSL soil. These showed that high NO_3~- production capacity of alkaline paddy soil should be a cause for concern because an accumulation of NO_3~- can increase the risk of NO_3~- loss through leaching and denitrification.  相似文献
