In this study, we examined the effects of a dextran-modified silk fibroin nanofibrous mat (D-SFNM) on wound healing. To increase the hydrophilicity of silk fibroin (SF), the SF nanofibrous mat (SFNM) was modified with oxidized dextran. The D-SFNM absorbed water faster than the SFNM, and the swelling ratio was increased by approximately 80 % compared with the SFNM. An in vitro cell (NIH3T3) test revealed that fewer cells attached to the D-SFNM than the SFNM, but the proliferation of cells was not significantly affected by the presence of dextran. An in vivo wound healing test with mice indicated that the D-SFNM resulted in a good wound recovery effect similar to a commercial wound dressing material. The increased hydrophilicity of the D-SFNM might balance the moist environment at the wound site, which improves the wound healing compared with the SFNM.  相似文献

In this study, we developed optimal multifunctional electrospun wound dressings possessing an antibacterial activity and rich in iron, a vital trace element for cell growth. Therefore, synthetic ferric oxide nanoparticles (α-Fe2O3 NPs) were ultrasonically dispersed into preheated gelatin-glycerol solution. A variety of techniques (X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), differential thermal analysis (DTA), in-vitro swelling-degradation studies and antibacterial tests) were used to characterize the electrospun mats. The results highlight that α-Fe2O3 NPs could be successfully dispersed into the electrospun gelatin nanofibers. The electrospun ferric oxide-gelatin-glycerol nanofibrous mats revealed free beads nanofibers with appropriated swelling-degradation behavior. It was observed that addition of α-Fe2O3 NPs enhanced the antibacterial activity of electrospun mats against positive and negative bacteria.  相似文献

In recent decades, tremendous research has focused on the production of nanoscale fibers using synthetic polymers, with the goal of fabricating nanofibrous scaffolds for wound healing. However, the hydrophobicity of such polymers typically hinders attachment and proliferation of the cells. In this study, we combined poly-d,l-lactide-co-glycolide (PLGA) and small intestine submucosa (SIS) to fabricate blended nanofibers for wound healing by electrospinning. PLGA and SIS were dissolved in 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro isopropanol to produce different weight ratios of PLGA/SIS-blended nanofibrous membranes (NFM). Physicochemical characterization of the electrospun NFM was performed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, water contact angle analysis, degradation test and tensile testing. The PLGA/SIS-blended NFM showed improved hydrophilicity and tensile strength. Better infiltration, attachment and proliferation of rat granulation fibroblasts of PLGA/SIS-blended NFMs compared to PLGA NFMs were identified by morphological differences determined by SEM and a water-soluble tetrazolium salt assay kit. Based on our results, the PLGA/SIS blended NFMs were found to be suitable for use as a potential material for wound dressing.  相似文献

Present study is focused on the preparation of two layers composite wound dressing for drug release. The outer layer is made of hydrogel which contains of drug and the core layer is made of fabric. The two layers structure of composite dressing is formed by grafting of polyacrylamide-co-acrylic acid hydrogel on cotton fabric using ammonium per sulphate (APS) as chemical initiator and polyethylene glycol (PEG) as crosslinker. The major factors affecting graft copolymerization of hydrogel on cotton fabric are optimized by varying concentration of monomers & initiator, reaction temperature and addition time of crosslinker. Maximum grafting of hydrogel is obtained at 5 % (w/v) APS and 15 % acrylamide/acrylic acid (1:1 w/w ratio) concentration. The FTIR spectra of composite dressing shows characteristics peak of acrylic acid and acrylamide. The composite wound dressing material is loaded with model drug bovine serum albumin (BSA) and drug release behaviour is studied at different pH. The dressing shows drug release in different pH with maximum release of drug in acidic medium.  相似文献

A double-layer nonwoven fabric containing Tencel, cotton, and chitosan was prepared by the immersion-precipitation phase-inversion method and evaluated as a wound covering. Macroporous structure of the chitosan membrane could control evaporative water loss, promote fluid drainage, and inhibit exogenous micro-organisms invasion due to inherent antimicrobial property of the chitosan. The chitosan membrane was hemostatic and could accelerate the healing of the wound. Histological examination showed that epithelialization rate was increased and the deposition of collagen in the dermis was well organized by covering the wound with the membrane. These results indicate that the chitosan-coated Tencel/cotton nonwoven fabric can be a potential material employed as a wound dressing.  相似文献

This study investigated the incorporation of nanoscale germanium (Ge) and silicon dioxide (SiO2) particles into poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) nanofibers with the aim of developing nanostructures with far-infrared radiation effects and antimicrobial properties for biomedical applications. Composite fibers containing Ge and SiO2 were fabricated at various concentrations of Ge and/or SiO2 using electrospinning and layered on polypropylene nonwoven. The morphological properties of the nanocomposite fibers were characterized using a field-emission scanning electron microscope and a transmission electron microscope. The far-infrared emissivity and emissive power of the nanocomposite fibers were examined in the wavelength range of 5-20 μm at 37 °C. The antibacterial properties were quantitatively assessed by measuring the bacterial reductions of Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Escherichia coli. Multi-component composite fibers electrospun from 11 wt% PVA solutions containing 0.5 wt% Ge and 1 wt% SiO2 nanoparticles exhibited a far-infrared emissivity of 0.891 and an emissive power of 3.44·102 W m?2 with a web area density of 5.55 g m?2. The same system exhibited a 99.9 % bacterial reduction against both Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, and showed a 34.8 % reduction of Klebsiella pneumoniae. These results demonstrate that PVA nanofibrous membranes containing Ge and SiO2 have potential in medical and healthcare applications such as wound healing dressings, skin care masks, and medical textile products.  相似文献

In this report, silk fibroin (SF) mats coated with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were manufactured as a prototypic wound dressing and evaluated for antimicrobial properties. SF was extracted from cocoons of Thai silkworms Bombyx mori (variant Nangnoi Si Sa Ket) and fabricated into nonwoven mats by electrospinning. In a one-step synthesis method, colloidal AgNPs were prepared from silver nitrate by gamma irradiation and inspected by transmission electron microscopy. Using the in vitro disc diffusion and growth-inhibition assays, AgNP-coated SF mats effectively inhibited the growth of Staphyllococus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa when the coating solution containing colloidal AgNPs was 4 mM, or equivalent to 50.4 ng/cm2 of adsorbed AgNPs. Based on these results, the AgNP-coated SF mats can potentially be used as antimicrobial wound dressings.  相似文献

In this study, a kind of hydrogel nanofibers were successfully fabricated via solution blowing of chitosan (CS) and polylactic acid (PLA) solutions mixed with various contents of polyethylene glycol (PEG) to offer hydration. The nanofibers with PEG content varying were average 341-376 nm in diameter with smooth surface and distributed randomly forming three-dimension (3D) mats. Glutaraldehyde (GA) vapor was then applied to impart stability, and the cross-linking reaction mainly occurred between GA and hydroxyl groups which was confirmed by XPS. The hydrogel nanofibers showed quick absorption behavior, high equilibrate water absorption and good air permeability which could help the mats absorbing excess exudates, creating a moist wound healing environment and oxygen exchanging in wound healing. The mats also exhibited good antibacterial activities against E. coil. The combination advantages of nanofibers mats and hydrogel will help it find promising application in wound healing.  相似文献

Fabrication of Ceftazidime (CTZ) loaded silk fibroin/gelatin (SF/GT) nanofibers (NFs) without the loss of structure and bioactivity of CTZ was demonstrated by electrospinning method. The structure, morphology and mechanical properties of the electrospun SF/GT nanofibrous mats were characterized using FT-IR, SEM and DSC. The drug release profile of different electrospun fibers was analyzed using spectrophotometric method, and also diffusion method was applied to assess the antibacterial effect of NFs. Cell viability was evaluated by MTT assay. The results show that the average diameter of drug loaded NFs at the optimum polymer to drug feeding ratio (10:1) was 276.55±35.8 nm, while increasing the feeding ratio to 1:1 increases the average diameter to 825.02±70.3 nm. FT-IR of drug loaded NFs was revealed that CTZ was successfully encapsulated into NFs while viability study approved cytocompatibility of SF/GT NFs. CTZ was released from NFs during 6 h, and formation of inhibition zone in diffusion test demonstrated the antibacterial effect of drug loaded NFs. Altogether, the CTZ loaded SF/GT NFs can improve the drug effectiveness particularly in the prevention of post-surgical adhesions and infections for wound dressing.  相似文献

The purpose of this study is to fabricate a smart wound dressing by hybridizing hydrophilic polyurethane foam (PUF) and alginate hydrogel. Hydrophilic PUF is used to maintain damaged tissue in a moist environment. Despite its many strong points as a wound dressing, hydrophilic PUF cannot be loaded with ingredients such as growth factors and cytokines that would enhance wound healing. Therefore, we introduce a pH-sensitive alginate hydrogel with the ability to selectively release drugs within the pH range of wounded skin. Due to the small pore size of PUF and the high viscosity of the alginate solution, the two are not easily penetrable. As such, a vacuum method is used to insert alginate hydrogel into the PUF. The optimum conditions for the vacuum method chosen are to be proposed. However, the mechanical strength of PUF decreased after containing alginate hydrogel. Therefore, Na-alginate powder for PUF, various types of crosslinking agents and jute fiber for alginate hydrogel were introduced to improve the mechanical properties of hydrogel/PUF hybrid wound dressing. Three different types of crosslinking agents are used for the gel formation. The most suitable crosslinking agent and its concentration for alginate hydrogel is also determined by the experiments. The experimental results are discussed with proper schemes and reasonable explanations.  相似文献

Water-soluble chitin (WSC) was prepared by carefully deacetylating chitins to about 50% of N-acetyl content. Topical formulations based on WSC were prepared and their effects on wound healing were evaluated on a rabbit ear model. Full-thickness, open skin wounds were made on the ears of rabbits and WSC ointments were embedded in the open wounds. The application of WSC ointments significantly accelerated wound healing and wound contraction. The areas of epithelialization and granulation tissues in WSC ointment group are remarkably larger than those in control group (no treatment) and in placebo group (treated with ointment-base materials). A large number of grown granulation tissues including dense fibroblast deposition were observed under the thickened epithelium of the wound treated with WSC ointments. The number of inflammatory cells in WSC ointment group was significantly decreased compared with those in control and placebo groups, indicating that WSC would give low stimuli to wounds and prevent excessive scar formation. Neovascularization was the most prominent in WSC ointment group. Wound contraction in WSC ointment group was much larger than those in control and placebo groups. Overall results demonstrate that the topical formulation based on WSC is considered to become an excellent dressing as a wound healing assistant.  相似文献

In this study, two biodegradable polymers, polycaprolactone (PCL) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) were used to fabricate nanofiber nonwovens (NFNs). Also, the silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) successfully reduced by using tea polyphenols (TP) and incorporated in the NFNs via electrospinning. The morphologies of the NFNs and AgNPs were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), respectively. The PCL nanofibers and PVA nanofibers interweaved each other, and AgNPs with average diameter 1.53±0.15 nm were embedded in the PVA nanofibers. The properties of electrospun NFNs were characterized by pore property, swelling/weight loss, water contact angle, mechanical property, and antibacterial activity. The nanofibers cross-linked to each other forming the 3Dnetwork porous structure with diameter about 1-1.5 μm. Although the hydrophobic PCL was added in the hybrid NFNs, the NFNs still showed hydrophilic propriety, high swelling degree (i.e. swelling degree is 330 % for 48 h), and low weight loss (i.e. weight loss is 22.4 % for 48 h). Also, the hybrid PCL/PVA/AgNPs NFNs exhibited a suitable mechanical property for wound dressings (i.e. tensile strength is 4.27 MPa, and breaking elongation is 88 %). Moreover, the hybrid NFNs effectively inhibited growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. In summary, this PCL/PVA/AgNPs NFNs may provide a promising candidate for accelerating wound healing.  相似文献

In previous papers, a new technology that produces biopolymer composites by particle-bonding was introduced. During the manufacturing process, micrometer-scale raw material was coated with a corn (Zea mays L.) protein, zein, which was then processed to form a rigid material. The coating of raw-material particles with zein makes use of the unique property of this protein in aqueous ethanol solution. In this paper, it is shown that the behavior of a wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) protein, gliadin, is very similar to zein in aqueous ethanol. Size variation of aggregates in 45-65% aqueous ethanol was investigated with a turbidimeter in conjunction with Size Exclusion Chromatography. Confirming the resemblance of gliadin to zein in terms of aggregation behavior in aqueous alcohol, composites were fabricated by particle-bonding and their mechanical property was measured with a Universal Testing Machine. Test results showed that gliadin is a good substitute for zein in the production of composites.  相似文献

The aim of the present study was to prepare nanofibers loaded with montelukast, a cysteinyl leukotrienes (CysLTs) inhibitor, with anti-inflammatory properties effective on wound healing. Polymeric nanofibers containing montelukast were spun by electrospinning method using different ratios of the blend of two biodegradable polymers of poly(methyl vinyl etherco-maleic acid) (PMVEMA) and poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) at the total polymer concentration of 37 %, the distance of the needle to rotating screen of 19 cm, the voltage of 12 Kv and the rate of injection of 0.2 ml/h. The ratio of two polymers in the blend and the concentration of montelukast were optimized based on the diameter of the nanofibers, drug loading percent and release efficiency by a full factorial design. The morphology, diameter and diameter distribution of the nanofibers were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Drug loading percent in the nanofibers was determined by extracting the loaded drug from a specific surface of the nanofibers which was subsequently analyzed spectrophotometrically. The drug release rate from the nanofibers was studied in phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.4) containing 0.5 % Tween 20 at predetermined time intervals until 10 days. The cytotoxicity of the designed nanofibers was evaluated on mouse fibroblast cells using trypan blue method, their platelet adherence property was quantified by measuring the lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity and confirmed by SEM micrographs. The optimized ratio of PLGA/PMVEMA was 3:1 with the total concentration of polymers as 37 % loaded with 30 % of montelukast produced nanofibers with a diameter of 157.6 nm, drug loading percent of 43.7 % and release efficiency of 75 % after 10 days. The cell viability was similar in nanofibers and the negative control group. The platelets adhesion to the nanofibers was more than the negative control group (p<0.05).  相似文献

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET)/biomedical polyurethane (BPU) composite nanofibers with modulated mechanical properties are electrospun by varying the weight ratios of PET and BPU polymers in the mixture. The effect of BPU content on the morphology, porosity, thermal properties, and crystalline structures are systematically investigated. It is shown that uniform PET/BPU nanofibers can be formed through optimization. When the content of BPU is low (0?C7 %), better elongation of the nanofibrous mats is obtained with the increase of BPU content, whereas further increasing the BPU polymer (up to 15 %) results in a decreased breaking elongation as well as the mechanical strength of composites. The formed nanofibrous mats may find potential applications in tissue engineering and vascular graft.  相似文献

Hyperbranched polymers, an innovative class of nano-polymers, could enhance the properties of fibers owning to their unique structures. In this study, the ester compound (HPAE) of 3-(bis(2-hydroxyethyl)amino)propionic acid and pentaerythritol was treated with undecylenic acid to obtain novel hyperbranched multiterminal alkenyl polymers (HPAE-UAs). The sizes of the HPAE-UAs could be controlled conveniently from 400 to 1300 nm by adjusting the capped fraction of the hydroxyl groups with undecylenic acids. The molecular structures of HPAE-UAs were characterized by means of FT-IR and 1H-NMR. Then, the effect of the HPAE-UAs on the structures, thermal, and mechanical properties of the wet blue leather were investigated. TEM and SEM demonstrated that the spacing between fibers was enlarged. The thermogravimetric analysis showed that the residual volume of leather could reach up to 30.3 % at about 500 °C. Furthermore, the shrinkage temperature increased to 89.4 °C. It was found that the HPAE-UAs used in leather could improve the thermal performance, physical and mechanical properties. All of these results indicate that HPAE-UAs can be used as a fatliquor with retanning in leather process.  相似文献

This study aims to develop a new approach for fabricating hollow nanofibrous yarns by engineering a triple-layer structure (polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) multifilament core surrounded by a layer of PVA nanofibers and a polylactic acid (PLA) nanofiber outer layer). After fabrication of this 3-layer structure, the core portion was extracted, leaving the outer layer intact after dissolving the PVA nanofibers in water. To determine the optimum thickness of the outer layer, hollow nanofiber yarns with five different thicknesses were produced. A hollow nanofiber yarn was also produced using a common method to enable comparison of the methods. In the common method, a core sheath yarn consisting of a PVA multifilament core and a PLA nanofiber outer layer was fabricated, and a hollow yarn was produced by placing the core yarn in hot water. The results revealed facilitation of core extraction from the yarn body of the new 3-layer structure, which occurred due to rapid dissolution of the middle layer. The wicking behavior in the hollow yarn fabricated using the novel method followed the Locus Washburn equation and that of the hollow yarn produced from the core sheath yarn deviated from it. The results demonstrated that tensile properties of hollow nanofiber yarns were improved by increasing the thickness. Furthermore, hemolysis and cytotoxicity assays indicated that the fabricated hollow nanofibrous structure is non-toxic and blood compatible, indicating its potential for use in biomedical applications such as vascular scaffolds.  相似文献

Antibacterial textiles are gaining attention due to awareness of health and hygiene and also the requirement of protection from pathogenic bacterias. Silver nanoparticles can be best utilized for imparting such properties. As silver nanoparticles impart characteristic brown colour to substrates, material is more suitable for coloured antibacterial products. In the current study the bamboo rayon fabric was grafted with acrylamide using potassium persulfate (KPS) as an initiator and further treated with silver nitrate followed by borohydride reduction. The modified product was characterized using FTIR, TGA and SEM. The characteristic brownish tinge developed after reduction was measured spectrophotometrically. The grafted bamboo rayon with nanosilver was then evaluated for antibacterial activity against both gram positive and gram negative bacteria and durability of their antibacterial activity after washing. The product showed antibacterial activity against both types of bacterias which was found to be durable till 50 washes.  相似文献

Summary In five field trials with the cultivars Gloria (early), Bintje (mid-early) Désirée (mid-late) and Morene (late), crops grown from conventional 28–35 or 35–45 mm seed were compared with crops grown from microtubers, of various sizes and from various sources, that had been producedin vitro. The following means to quicken initial crop development from the micropropagated material were tested: large microtubers, plastic soil cover, and transplanting of plantlets grown from microtubers pre-planted in a glasshouse. Crops grown from microtubers weighing less than half a gram yielded much less than crops grown from conventional seed crops but their yields were increased by each treatment. With the later-maturing cultivars, which generally produce few tubers per plant, the yields within seed grades from plants grown from transplanted microtuber plants were comparable with those of conventional crops. Reasons are given, why direct planting of microtubers, with or without plastic foil, is not a practical option.  相似文献
