Salvinia minima has been reported as a cadmium and lead hyperaccumulator being the adsorption and intracellular accumulation the main uptake mechanisms. However, its physicochemical properties, the effect of metal concentration and the presence of organic and inorganic compounds on its hyperaccumulating capacity are still unknown. Furthermore, the specific adsorption and accumulation mechanisms occurring in the plant are not clear yet. Thus, based on a compartmentalization analysis, a bioadsorption (BAF) and an intracellular accumulation factor (IAF) were calculated in order to differentiate and quantify these two mechanisms. The use of kinetic models allowed predicting the specific type of uptake mechanisms involved. Healthy plants were exposed to five lead concentrations ranging from 0.80?±?0.0 to 28.40?±?0.22 mg Pb2+l?1 in batch systems. A synthetic wastewater, amended with propionic acid and magnesium sulfate, and deionized water were used as media. The BAF and IAF contributed to gain an in-depth insight into the hyperaccumulating lead capacity of S. minima. It is clear that such capacity is mainly due to adsorption (BAF 780–1980) most likely due to its exceptional physico-chemical characteristics such as a very high surface area (264 m2 g?1) and a high content of carboxylic groups (0.95 mmol H+g?1 dw). Chemisorption was predicted as the responsible mechanism according to the pseudo-second order adsorption model. Surprisingly, the ability of S. minima to accumulate the metal into the cells (IAF 57–1007) was not inhibited at concentrations as high as 28.40±0.22 mg Pb2+l?1.  相似文献

Acute toxicity of Pb to the water flea; (Daphnia sp) and Copepod, (Cyclop sp) both important component of zooplankton diet of fish was determined by static assay. A positive relationship between percentage mortality and exposure concentration was found in all tests. Mean 24-h LC50, 48-h LC50 and 96-h LC50 values were 2.51?±?0.0.04 mg l?1, 1.88?±?0.06 mg l?1 and 1.65?±?0.19 mg l?1 for Daphnia spp and 3.11?±?0.03 mg l?1, 2.97?±?0.05 mg l?1 and 2.61?±?0.09 mg l?1 for Cyclop spp, respectively. For all tested species did the LC50 values decrease with time; the decrease was more marked for Daphnia spp. Observed symptoms include spiral movement followed by change of body colour to white and rapid disintegration of the skin. The Daphnia spp. appear to be more sensitive to Pb poison than Cyclop spp. The results showed that concentrations of Lead (Pb) in excess of 0.19 mg l?1 and 0.30 mg l?1 can be potentially harmful to Daphnia magna and Cyclop spp respectively.  相似文献

Purpose

Treated and processed sewage sludges (biosolids) generated during the treatment of wastewater usually contain substantial concentrations of nutrients, especially phosphorus, which is essential for plant growth. Sewage sludge therefore can be used as an alternative fertiliser in agriculture. But since sewage sludge could also contain pollutants, analysis and ecotoxicological tests on affected soil and stream water organisms are necessary in order to guarantee its harmless use.

Materials and methods

Three test species were chosen to cover the environmental compartments, water, sediment and soil. The following test species and parameters were applied to evaluate the acute effects of three sewage sludge samples: Lemna minor (growth inhibition, discolouration and colony breakup), Gammarus fossarum (mortality, behaviour) and Eisenia fetida (avoidance behaviour). Chemical assessment included nutrients, organic pollutants and heavy metals.

Results and discussion

The assessment of a non-dewatered sludge (S1) sample resulted in an inhibition of growth of L. minor starting from 0.6 g total solid (TS)?l?1 after 7 days (EC50 1.2 g TS l?1). G. fossarum displayed significantly decreased movement activity at 0.5 and 1.2 g TS l?1 sludge concentration during an exposure time of 2 days, leading to decreased survival after 4 days of exposure in 0.5 g TS l?1 (LC50 0.5 g TS l?1). After 2 days, E. fetida exhibited an increased avoidance behaviour of contaminated soil from 0.2 g TS kg?1 sewage sludge (EC50 0.4 g TS kg?1). The dewatered sludge samples (S2 and S3) had a lower toxic effect on the test organisms. G. fossarum was the most sensitive test species in the applied test setups. The realistic application amounts of the tested sewage sludge samples of approximately 6.0 g TS kg?1 (maximum allowed application amount of sewage sludge) and approximately 3 g TS kg?1 (maximum agronomical relevant application amount) in worst case studies are higher than the analysed EC50/LC50 values of S1 and of the LC50 (G. fossarum) of S2 and S3.

Conclusions

All three tested sewage sludge samples have to be classified as toxic at high concentration levels under laboratory conditions. Realistic output quantities of S1 will negatively influence soil invertebrates and freshwater organisms (plants and crustacean), whereas the dewatered sludge samples will most likely not have any acute toxic effect on the test organisms in the field. Test with environmental samples should be conducted in order to support this hypothesis.

A simultaneous treatment of BOD, phosphorous and ammonia in artificial wastewater was carried out in biofilm reactors with Luffa cylíndrica as organic support and compared with PVC's support under variations of dissolved oxygen of 1.5 a 3.0 mg l?1 in the same reactor. During semicontinous treatment, the removal of BOD (92.5%) with Luffa cilíndrica was higher than PVC support (80%). Nitrification only existed at levels of oxygen of 3 mg l?1, showed in the effluent a final concentration of ammonium of 17 and 19 mg l?1 for Luffa cilíndrica and PVC support, respectively. In reactors with Luffa cilíndrica a higher percentage of P removal (40%) was reached, while no elimination in reactors with PVC was observed. The formation of anaerobic-aerobic zones inside the natural support probably allowed the increase in the efficiency of removal of phosphorous. Oxidation of organic matter, P removal and nitrification can be achieved with the variation of oxygen inside of the same biofilm reactor using L. cylindrical as support material.  相似文献

Growth, yield, and chemical composition responses of two faba bean cultivars due to foliar application of 28-homobrassinolide (HBR) and 24-epibrassinolide (EBR) were studied in two field experiments conducted at the Experimental Farm of Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University at Giza, Egypt, during 2003/2004 and 2004/2005. The application of 0.10 mg l?1 EBR improved the growth characters and yield of the two cultivars over the control. Treatment with 0.05 mg l?1 EBR and 0.50 mg l?1 HBR stimulated plant growth and productivity but less effectively than treatment with 0.10 mg l?1 EBR. This increment was more pronounced in Sakha 1 cultivar as compared with Giza 40 cultivar. Application of 0.10 mg l?1 EBR gave, along with a 28% rise in productivity of Sakha 1 cultivar and 21.8% rise in productivity of Giza 40 cultivar, a better quality of yield with regard to an enhancement in the concentration of N, P, K, Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu, protein, and total carbohydrates. These considerable effects of EBR and HBR on plant development and yield promotion, together with the environmentally safe aspects of these compounds, would mark a major development in the field of plant growth regulators, and would minimize the risks associated with agrochemicals by reducing environmental contamination.  相似文献

A neutrophilic, autotrophic bacterium that couples iron oxidation to nitrate reduction (iron-oxidizing bacteria [IOB]) under anoxic conditions was isolated from a working bioremediation site in Trail, British Columbia. The site was designed and developed primarily to treat high concentrations of Zn and As that originate from capped industrial landfill sites. The system consisted of two upflow biochemical reactor cells (BCR) followed by three vegetated wetland polishing cells with sub-surface flow and a holding pond. During a 5-year period (2003–2007), the system treated more than 19,100 m3 of contaminated water, removing and sequestering more than 10,700 kg of As, Zn and sulfate at average input water concentrations of: As, 58.6 mg?l?1 (±39.9 mg?l?1); Zn, 51.9 mg?l?1 (±35.4 mg?l?1) and SO4 2?, 781.5 mg?l?1 (±287.8 mg?l?1). The bacterium was isolated in order to better understand the mechanisms underlying the consistent As removal that took place in the system. Analysis using Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) database showed that the closest homologies are to Candidatus accumulibacterphosphatis (95 % homology), Dechloromonas aromatica (94 %), and Sideroxydans lithotrophicus ES-1 (92 %) Within the BCR cells, the IOB oxidized Fe2+ generated by iron-reducing bacteria (IRB); the source of the iron was most likely biosolids and coatings of iron oxide on locally available sand used in the matrix. We have provisionally designated the novel bacterium as TR1.  相似文献

Removal of heavy metals (HM) from industrial wastewater is of primary environmental importance. The seeded ambient temperature ferrite process, in which heavy metals are removed from solution by their incorporation into a magnetite structure, is an attractive alternative for both complete metals separation and generation of stable magnetic sludge. Despite its potential, the effects of various operational parameters on the composition and stability of the final product are not fully understood to-date. The current paper addresses the combined effect of selected operational parameters on Co2+ incorporation efficiency. Co2+, which is used in many industries (e.g., plating, alloys manufacturing, catalytic converters, and paint pigments) and hence may pose a significant environment risk, was shown previously to be incorporated successfully into ferrite structures. Co2+-bearing ferrites were synthesized from Fe(II) solutions at ambient temperature (20 and 30°C), applying slow oxidation, pH 10.5, 20 g (as Fe) l?1 ferrite seed, and different Fe2+ to Co2+ influent ratios. Pure magnetite was used as an initial seed, which was gradually exchanged, as the reaction proceeded, by the Co2+-bearing ferrite generated within the reactor (until full exchange at steady state). Under all conditions investigated >99% of the Co2+ was removed from solution (yielding Co2+ levels below 20 μg/l in the effluent) while the generated precipitates were composed predominately of magnetite/ferrite (based on XRD analysis). Favorable results in terms of Co2+ incorporation efficiency and sludge stability were obtained when the following operational conditions were applied: 1:10 Co2+:Fe2+ molar influent ratio, 30°C, 1,500 mgFe2+ l?1 metal intermediate concentration, and 16 h aging period (pH 10.5).  相似文献

The capacity of microalgae to accumulate heavy metals has been widely investigated for its potential applications in wastewater (bio)treatment. In this study, the ability of Desmodesmus pleiomorphus (strain L), a wild strain isolated from a polluted environment, to remove Cd from aqueous solutions was studied, by exposing its biomass to several Cd concentrations. Removal from solution reached a maximum of 61.2 mg Cd g?1 biomass by 1 day, at the highest initial supernatant concentration used (i.e., 5.0 mg Cd L?1), with most metal being adsorbed onto the cell surface. Metal removal by D. pleiomorphus (strain ACOI 561), a commercially available ecotype, was also assessed for comparative purposes; a removal of 76.4 mg Cd g?1 biomass was attained by 1 day for the same initial metal concentration. Assays for metal removal using thermally inactivated cells were also performed; the maximum removal extent observed was 47.1 mg Cd g?1 biomass, at the initial concentration of 5 mg Cd L?1. In experiments conducted at various pH values, the highest removal was achieved at pH 4.0. Both microalga strains proved their feasibility as biotechnological tools to remove Cd from aqueous solution.  相似文献

The application of magnetite-immobilized chitin in pentachlorophenol (PCP) removal was demonstrated in this study. The physicochemical parameters for immobilization of chitin by magnetite, and for PCP adsorption using magnetite-immobilized chitin were optimized. For chitin immobilization, the optimized conditions were: magnetite to chitin (m:c) ratio at 1:2, initial pH 6, 25°C, 200 rpm and 60 min in batch system. The immobilization efficiency (IE) was 99.4% and immobilization capacity (IC) was 2.0 mg chitin mg?1 magnetite. High initial pH (pH?>?11) and temperature (>30°C) lowered the IE and IC. For PCP (10 mg l?1) adsorption, the optimized conditions were: 1,500 mg l?1 immobilized chitin, initial pH 6, 25°C, 200 rpm and 60 min in batch system. The removal efficiency (RE) was 57.9% and removal capacity (RC) was 5.4 mg g?1. The adsorption ability of immobilized chitin decreased with pH and temperature increased. However, increasing the amount of immobilized chitin (24,000 mg l?1) can increase the RE up to 92%. Both chitin immobilization and PCP adsorption exhibited Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms. Results in this study indicated that magnetite-immobilized chitin was a cost-effective and environmental friendly adsorbent to remove environmental pollutants such as PCP.  相似文献

This paper presents the results of using a pilot-scale-constructed wetland as a tertiary system to simulate the treatment conditions of wastewater effluents from the metal-mechanical industry, aiming to achieve the Brazilian legal standards of phosphorus and nitrogen emission. The macrophytes were placed in 1 m3 polyethylene tanks, daily estimating the treatment of 2 m3 of effluents. The effluents were circulated in a horizontal subsurface flow through a porous matrix of thick sand and gravel, in which the roots of the macrophytes of the species Reed (Scirpus sp.) and Cattail (Typha sp.) were fixed. Monitoring of the pilot plant was performed through a battery of physical?Cchemical and biological analyses. Despite the load variations and operational problems, the system presented a positive degree of pollutant efficiency removal, especially for phosphorus (73% medium), TKN (61% medium), and NH4?CN (56% medium). Peak results were achieved during the last 3 months of monitoring. The chemical analysis of the support layer, plus the root system and aerial portion of the plants, revealed that these wastes could be used as fertilizer.  相似文献

The contamination of hazardous metal(loid) is one of the serious environmental and human health risks. This study isolated a total of 40 cadmium (Cd)- and arsenic (As)-resistant bacterial isolates from coastal sediments by pour plate technique using tryptic soy agar supplemented with Cd or As (50 mg l?1) for use as metal(loid) bioremediation agents. Out of 40, 4 isolates, RCd3, RCd6, RAs7, and RAs10, showed a relatively higher growth rate in Cd- or As-supplemented culture media which were selected for further study. The selected isolates showed a high minimum inhibitory concentration (60–400 mg l?1 for Cd and 400–2200 mg l?1 for As), which demonstrated their remarkable Cd and As resistance capabilities. The metal(loid) removal efficiencies (0.032–0.268 μg Cd h?1 mg?1 and 0.0003–0.0172 μg As h?1 mg?1 [wet weight cell]) of selected isolates indicated their greater magnitude in absorbing Cd compared to As from water. Phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rDNA sequences revealed that isolates RCd3, RCd6, RAs7, and RAs10 were closely related to Acinetobacter brisouii, Pseudomonas abietaniphila, Exiguobacterium aestuarii, and Planococcus rifietoensis, respectively. Because of high Cd and As resistance and removal efficiency, the selected isolates can survive in a high metal(loid)-contaminated environment and could be a potential tool for bioremediation of high metal(loid)-contaminated effluents to protect the aquatic environment.  相似文献

The main purpose of this work was to conduct a kinetic study on cell growth and hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] removal by Candida sp. FGSFEP in a concentric draft-tube airlift bioreactor. The yeast was batch-cultivated in a 5.2-l airlift bioreactor containing culture medium with an initial Cr(VI) concentration of 1.5 mM. The maximum specific growth rate of Candida sp. FGSFEP in the airlift bioreactor was 0.0244 h?1, which was 71.83% higher than that obtained in flasks. The yeast strain was capable of reducing 1.5 mM Cr(VI) completely and exhibited a high volumetric rate [1.64 mg Cr(VI) l?1 h?1], specific rate [0.95 mg Cr(VI) g?1 biomass h?1] and capacity [44.38 mg Cr(VI) g?1 biomass] of Cr(VI) reduction in the airlift bioreactor, with values higher than those obtained in flasks. Therefore, culture of Candida sp. FGSFEP in a concentric draft-tube airlift bioreactor could be a promising technological alternative for the aerobic treatment of Cr(VI)-contaminated industrial effluents.  相似文献

The effects of phosphate processing wastewater (PPWW) on heavy metal accumulation in a Mediterranean soil (Tunisia, North Africa) were investigated. Moreover, the residual toxicities of PPWW-irrigated soils extracts were assessed. Results showed that heavy metal accumulation was significantly higher in PPWW-irrigated soil extracts than in control soil. The heavy metal accumulation increased over time in treated soil samples and their average values followed the following order: Iron (Fe 252.72 mg l?1) > Zinc (Zn 152.95 mg l?1) > Lead (Pb 128.35 mg l?1) > Copper (Cu 116.82 mg l?1) > Cadmium (Cd 58.03 mg l?1). The residual microtoxicity and phytotoxicity of the various treated soil samples extracts were evaluated by monitoring the bioluminescence inhibition (BI %) of Vibrio ficheri and the measurement of the germination indexes (GI %) of Lepidium sativum and Medicago sativa seeds. The results showed an important increase of residual toxicities of PPWW-treated soil extracts over time.  相似文献

Cattle manure vermicompost has been used for the adsorption of Al(III) and Fe(II) from both synthetic solution and kaolin industry wastewater. The optimum conditions for Al(III) and Fe(II) adsorption at pH?2 (natural pH of the wastewater) were particle size of ≤250?µm, 1 g/10 mL adsorbent dose, contact time of 4 h, and temperature of 25°C. Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms fitted reasonably well in the experimental data, and their constants were evaluated, with R 2 values from 0.90 to 0.98. In synthetic solution, the maximum adsorption capacity of the vermicompost for Al(III) was 8.35 mg g?1 and for Fe(II) was 16.98 mg g?1 at 25°C when the vermicompost dose was 1 g 10 mL?1, and the initial adjusted pH was 2. The batch adsorption studies of Al(III) and Fe(II) on vermicompost using kaolin wastewater have shown that the maximum adsorption capacities were 1.10 and 4.30 mg g?1, respectively, at pH?2. The thermodynamic parameter, the Gibbs free energy, was calculated for each system, and the negative values obtained confirm that the adsorption processes were spontaneous.  相似文献

Corbicula fluminea (Asian clam) can assemble in high densities and dominate benthic communities. To evaluate the influence of this clam on sediment oxygen uptake and nutrient fluxes across the sediment–water interface, a microcosm study was conducted using a continuous-flow cultivation system with sediment, lake water, and C. fluminea specimens from Taihu Lake, China. C. fluminea destroyed the initial sediment surface, enhanced O2 penetration into the sediment partially, and increased the sediment water content, the volume of oxic sediment, and total microbial activity. Sediment O2 uptake was significantly stimulated by C. fluminea. Linear regression results for O2 uptake versus clam biomass ranged from 21.9 to 9.47 μmol h?1 g?1?DW (dry weight). The release of soluble reactive phosphorus, ammonium, and nitrate from the sediment was also increased by the clams. The increase in the amount of soluble reactive phosphorus and ammonium released into the overlying water was 0.042?~?0.091 and 2.77?~?3.03 μmol h?1 g?1?DW, respectively, and this increase was attributed to increased diffusion, enhanced advection between the pore water and the overlying water, and the excretions from C. fluminea. Enhanced nitrification was suggested as the reason for the increase in nitrate release (2.95?~?4.13 μmol h?1 g?1?DW) to the overlying water.  相似文献

Field experiments evaluated the effects of integrated nutrient management on symbiotic parameters, growth, nutrient accumulation, productivity and profitability of lentil (Lens culinaris Medikus). Application of recommended dose of nutrients (RDN, 12.5 kg N ha?1 + 40 kg P2O5 ha?1) + 25 kg ZnSO4 ha?1 + seed inoculation with biofertilizers [Rhizobium + phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) + plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR)] + 1.0 g ammonium molybdate kg?1 seed recorded the highest number & dry weight of nodules, leghaemoglobin content, root & shoot dry weight, plant height, number of pods plant?1 and 100-seed weight. The next best treatment was RDN + seed inoculation with biofertilizers + 1.0 g ammonium molybdate kg?1 seed. On the basis of mean of three-year data, the treatment of RDN + 25 kg ZnSO4 ha?1 + seed inoculation with biofertilizers 1.0 g ammonium molybdate kg?1 seed proved the best in realizing the highest grain yield (34.0%), gross returns (34.0%) and net returns (54.8% higher over control). Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in the grains and straw were significantly improved where RDN was applied in combination with seed inoculation, basal application of ZnSO4 and seed treatment with 1 g ammonium molybdate than their single applications.  相似文献

Applications of dairy farm effluents to land may lead to ammonia (NH3) volatilization and nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions. Nitrogen (N) transformation process inhibitors, such as urease inhibitors (UIs) and nitrification inhibitors (NIs), have been used to reduce NH3 and N2O losses derived from agricultural N sources. The objective of this study was to examine the effects of amending dairy effluents with UI (N-(n-butyl) thiophosphoric triamide (NBTPT)) and NI (dicyandiamide (DCD)) on NH3 and N2O emissions. Treatments included either fresh or stored manure and either fresh or stored farm dairy effluent (FDE), with and without NBTPT (0.25 g kg?1 N) or DCD (10 kg ha?1), applied to a pasture on a free-draining volcanic parent material soil. The nutrient loading rate of FDE and manure, which had different dry matter contents (about 2 and 11 %, respectively) was 100 kg N ha?1. Application of manure and FDE led to NH3 volatilization (15, 1, 17 and 0.4 % of applied N in fresh manure, fresh FDE, stored manure and stored FDE, respectively). With UI (NBTPT), NH3 volatilization from fresh manure was significantly (P?<?0.05) decreased to 8 % from 15 % of applied N, but the UI did not significantly reduce NH3 volatilization from fresh FDE. The N2O emission factors (amount of N2O–N emitted as a percentage of applied N) for fresh manure, fresh FDE and stored FDE were 0.13?±?0.02, 0.14?±?0.03 and 0.03?±?0.01 %, respectively. The NI (DCD) was effective in decreasing N2O emissions from stored FDE, fresh FDE and fresh manure by 90, 51 and 46 % (P?<?0.05), respectively. All types of effluent increased pasture production over the first 21 days after application (P?<?0.05). The addition of DCD resulted in an increase in pasture production at first harvest on day 21 (P?<?0.05). This study illustrates that UIs and NIs can be effective in mitigating NH3 and N2O emissions from land-applied dairy effluents.  相似文献

We investigated the coupling of abundance of bacteria, phytoplankton and ciliates with hydrocarbons in the surface water and sediments of five interconnected ponds in the arid Sfax solar salterns. This study aimed at determining the potential sources of hydrocarbons and the effects of salinity gradients on microorganism metabolism. Hydrocarbon analysis was performed by gas chromatography (GC-FID) and gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The GC-FID allowed the detection of aliphatic hydrocarbons and n-alkanes ranging from n-C13 to n-C30. Total aliphatic hydrocarbon concentrations varied from 92.5 mg. l?1 in the first pond (having marine characteristics) to 661.1 mg. l?1 in the last pond (crystallizer) (316.8?±?120.1 mg. l?1) for water samples and from 26.7 to 127.8 μg. g?1 dry weight for sediment samples. The GC-MS enabled us to detect halogenated hydrocarbons (bromoalkanes and chloroalkanes) and n-alkenes. The distribution of n-alkanes indices coupled to several environmental factors suggests that a major fraction of hydrocarbons resulted from both prokaryotic (bacteria) and eukaryotic (protists) developments. A low hydrocarbon fraction might be petrogenic.  相似文献

The main objective of this study was to evaluate the contribution of sorption to the removal of two commonly used antibiotics (amoxicillin and ciprofloxacin) from wastewater. These antibiotics are excreted in large quantities with more than 75% of them being unmetabolized and are therefore likely to end up in domestic wastewater in significant quantities. The specific objectives were to determine the sorption behavior in synthetic wastewater (SWW), the effect of pH and contribution of microbial surfaces, to the sorption of these antibiotics. The SWW, adjusted to various pH levels, was used and sorption kinetics conducted at 100 and 250 ??g L?1 concentrations. Adsorption isotherms were determined at different pH levels. The SWW (pH 6.6) was inoculated with Rhodococcus sp. B30 strain to determine the contribution of microbial surfaces to sorption. Generally, both antibiotics revealed a decrease in sorption with pH increase, suggesting that lowering the solution pH of the wastewater may reduce their amounts in wastewater solution. Comparatively, ciprofloxacin exhibited higher sorption than amoxicillin. The sorption distribution coefficient (K d) values for ciprofloxacin ranged from 0.4356 to 0.8902 L?g?1, with pH?=?5.5 exhibiting the highest K d, while that for amoxicillin ranged from 0.1582 to 0.3858 L?g?1 with the highest K d at pH?=?3.5. There was a significant difference (p?<?0.05) in K d values between various pH levels for both antibiotics except between the pH of 5.5 and 6.6. Both antibiotics were not degraded within 48 h by Rhodococcus sp. B30 strain. These results indicate that degradation may not be the major process of removal of compounds from wastewater treatment plants and hence the importance of sorption as an intervention technique.  相似文献

The quantification of arsenic biovolatilization by microscopic filamentous fungi Aspergillus clavatus, A. niger, Trichoderma viride and Penicillium glabrum under laboratory conditions is discussed in this article. The fungi were cultivated on a liquid medium enriched with inorganic arsenic in pentavalent form (H3AsO4). Filamentous fungi volatilized 0.010 mg to 0.067 mg and 0.093 mg to 0.262 mg of arsenic from cultivation systems enriched with 0.25 mg (5 mg.l?1 of arsenic in culture media) and 1.00 mg of arsenic (20 mg.l?1 of arsenic in culture media), respectively. These results represent the loss of arsenic after a 30-day cultivation from cultivation systems. The production of volatile arsenic derivatives by the A. niger and A. clavatus strains was also determined by hourly sorption using the sorbent Anasorb (CSC) on the 29th day of cultivation.  相似文献
