A trial was conducted to evaluate the antiviral activity and immunomodulatory effect of B-Caryophyllene (BCP) using NDV as a viral model. First, an in ovo experiment was conducted to estimate the antiviral mechanism of BCP. Next, an in vivo experiment was designed to confirm its antiviral efficacy as well as its immunomodulatory and growth promoting ability. According to the in ovo experiment, BCP possesses antiviral influence up to 61.7% when treated before or during NDV infection. Oral supplementation of chickens with two doses of BCP (200 and 400 μg/bird) resulted in a significant increase in the NDV HI-Ab responses and a significant increase in interferon-α signaling cytokines. These obvious immunomodulatory effects improved the bird clinical protection against virulent NDV challenge. To conclude, we introduced a new compound for the poultry industry sector that has antiviral and immunostimulant properties when supplemented orally before or during NDV infection.  相似文献

1. Experiments were conducted with laying hens to determine the effects of supplementing 0, 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 or 4.0 g trp/kg diet to a maize and soyabean meal‐based laying ration (basal tryptophan = 1.66 g/kg) on tissue lipid concentrations.

2. Plasma cholesterol, triglycerides and nonesterified fatty acids were increased by supplementing the diet with 1.0 g trp/kg diet and decreased with 3.0 or 4.0 g trp/kg diet. A significant quadratic effect of supplemental tryptophan was observed on plasma lipids in most cases. The observed effects diminished with time. No consistent changes were observed in plasma glucose concentrations.

1. A study with growing chicks investigated the effects of an inclusion of an endo‐xylanase preparation (LYXASAN®) to a wheat‐ and rye‐based diet on performance and nutrient digestibility in relation to the fat source.

2. The basal diet contained 500 g wheat and 100 g rye/kg of diet. The basal diet was supplemented with either 65 g soya oil/kg or 60 g blended animal fat and 5 g soya oil/kg.

3. Endo‐xylanase added to the soya oil diet did not affect weight gain, but there was a numerical improvement in food conversion efficiency which was not statistically significant. When the endo‐xylanase preparation was added to the blended animal fat diet, both weight gain and food utilisation were improved by 9.5% and 6.0%, respectively (P< 0.05).

4. Digestibilities of organic matter, crude fat, crude fibre and NFE were not significantly affected by adding endo‐xylanase to the soya oil diet. However, when endo‐xylanase was included in the blended animal fat diet, digestibility of organic matter, crude fat, crude fibre and NFE were improved (P<0–05). The improvement in fat digestibility was the most pronounced, amounting to 9–4%. Nitrogen retention and metabolisable energy content were improved significantly by the addition of an endo‐xylanase to the animal fat diet (P< 0.05), by 6.6% and 6.5% respectively.

5. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the effects on chick performance and nutrient digestibility of a dietary endo‐xylanase in a wheat‐ and rye‐based diet are influenced to a considerable degree by the type of fat in the diet.  相似文献

1. Two experiments were conducted with male broiler chicks from 2 to 5 weeks of age to determine the effect of dietary protein content and amino acid balance on the response to dietary sulphur‐containing amino acids (SAA) in terms of performance and carcase quality.

2. In experiment 1, 5 graded amounts of a DL‐methionine and L‐cysteine (1:1 by weight) mixture were added to basal diets containing 197 or 233 g crude protein/kg. The diets containing 197 g protein/kg were fed with or without the further addition of 36 g crude protein/kg from nonessential amino acids. The amino acid balance of all diets was kept constant for all essential amino acids except the SAA. In experiment 2, 5 graded amounts of SAA from either a crystalline source (DL‐methionine or a mixture of DL‐methionine and L‐cysteine) or from intact proteins were added to a diet containing 208 g protein/kg.

3. At each protein concentration there were significant responses to the SAA addition in weight gain, food conversion efficiency, and carcase quality. Non‐linear exponential regression analyses were used to describe bird responses to SAA concentration. The broiler chick's requirement for SAA increased with increasing dietary protein concentrations ranging from 197 to 259 g protein/kg.

4. The utilisation of SAA differed also with differences in origin (crystalline or peptide‐bound), and methionine:cysteine balances. Compared to DL‐methionine, a 1:1 mixture of DL‐methionine and L‐cysteine was only 81% or 86% as effective in supporting growth or food conversion, respectively. SAA from added protein was even less effectively utilised.

5. The addition of nonessential amino acids tended to decrease food intake without affecting SAA utilisation.

6. Slaughter yield and breast meat yield were clearly increased while fat deposition was clearly decreased, by SAA addition. The response in breast meat yield suggested an important economic benefit for further meat processing. Nitrogen retention was significantly enhanced by SAA supplementation from crystalline sources, and this led to reductions of up to 30% in the amount of nitrogen excreted per kg weight gain.  相似文献

Species composition data of the grass layer were determined from point surveys along permanently demarcated transects. These data were separated into vegetation units using multivariate techniques. The repeatability of this classification was tested on data collected over a period of time. The results indicate that classification based on composition data collected from a single sampling period was adequate for practical purposes provided certain precautions were taken. Change in vegetation was assessed by ordering sites from repeated measurements and tracing site trajectories through ordination space. The trends along the axes were strongly correlated with assessed condition score.  相似文献
