Enhanced electrical conductivity of cotton fabrics coated with polyaniline (PANI) and PANI/carbon coated Fe (Fe@C) and carbon coated Co (Co@C) metal nanoparticles (NPs) composites were investigated. PANI/metal nanoparticle (NP) composites were fabricated with a surface initialized polymerization method and silanization helped with chemical bonding to cotton. The volume resistivity of the samples and structural characterizations were assessed by relevant methods. The results showed that enhanced electrical conductivity, thermal stability and magnetization were obtained via polymeric nanocomposites (PNC) and all these findings revealed that PANI/metal NP PNC coated cotton fabrics would exhibit good level electromagnetic shielding performance as a function of combined electrical conductivity and magnetization which is the objective of our future studies.  相似文献

The surface of para-aramid fiber was modified by phosphoric acid solutions (H3PO4) based on an orthogonal experimental design and analysis method. Statistical results indicate that treatment temperature is the most significant variable in the modification processing, while treatment time was the least important factor. The structure and morphology of the modified fiber were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction instrument (XRD), and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results showed that some polar groups were introduced into the molecular structure of aramid fibers and the physical structure of the treated fibers was not etched obviously. The interfacial properties of aramid fiber/epoxy composites were investigated by the single fiber pull-out test (SFP), and the mechanical properties of aramid fibers were investigated by the tensile strength test. The results showed that the interfacial shear strength (IFSS) of aramid/epoxy composites was remarkably improved and the breaking strength of aramid fibers was not affected appreciably after surface modification.  相似文献

The chemical and morphological properties of ramie fibers treated by chemical surface modification were examined with Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The mechanical and thermal decomposition properties were evaluated with respect to tensile strength, tensile modulus and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Surface morphological changes were investigated with scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Finally, the capabilities of composites reinforced with various chemically treated fibers were analyzed by investigating tensile and impact strengths. Additionally, the thermal mechanical properties of the composites were investigated with thermal mechanical analysis (TMA). Based on the results of these analyses, we concluded that pectin, lignin and hemicellulose were removed and thermal stability was increased with chemical treatments. The composites reinforced with ramie fiber showed better properties compared with pure PLA matrix with respect to tensile and impact strengths. The peroxide-treated fiber composite had the smallest thermal expansion.  相似文献

Silver nanoparticles imbedded in polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibers and converted into carbon nanofibers by calcination was obtained in a simple three-step process. The first step involves conversion of silver ions to metallic silver nanoparticles, through reduction of silver nitrate with dilute solution of PAN. The second step involves electrospinning of viscous PAN solution containing silver nanoparticles, thus obtaining PAN nanofibers containing silver nanoparticles. The third step was converting PAN/Ag composites into carbon nanofibers containing silver nanoparticles. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed that the diameter of the nanofibers ranged between 200 and 800 nm. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) showed silver nanoparticles dispersed on the surface of the carbon nanofibers. The obtained fiber was fully characterized by measuring and comparing the FTIR spectra and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) diagrams of PAN nanofiber with and without imbedded silver nanoparticles, in order to show the effect of silver nanoparticles on the electrospun fiber properties. The obtained carbon/Ag composites were tested as gram-class-independent antibacterial agent. The electrosorption of different salt solutions with the fabricated carbon/Ag composite film electrodes was studied.  相似文献

Carbon fibers were coated with E51 plus Methacryl-POSS together in an attempt to improve the interfacial properties between carbon fibers and unsaturated polyester resins matrix. Atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were performed to characterize the changes of carbon fiber surface. AFM results show that the coating of E51 plus POSS significantly increased the carbon fiber surface roughness. XPS indicates that silicon containing functional groups obviously increased after modification. Dynamic mechanical analysis was carried out to investigate the surface energy of carbon fiber. Force modulation atomic force microscopy (FMAFM) and Interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) were used to characterize the interfacial properties of the composites. ILSS was increased by 21.9 % after treatment.  相似文献

The clam shell (CS) waste was first modified by furfural and hydrochloric acid to prepare fillers FCS and ACS, which were then used as fillers in polypropylene (PP), as well as the commercial calcium carbonate (CC). These fillers were characterized and analyzed by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), particle size analyzer, Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and contact angle measurement. The mechanical and thermal properties of PP composites were investigated as well. XRD analysis indicated that the major crystalline phase of CC was calcite; of shell waste derived fillers, calcite and aragonite. The CC was fully hydrophobic, while the shell derived fillers were amphiphilic. Mechanical property studies showed that the incorporation of FCS played the role mainly of toughening the PP; of CC, CS and ACS, that of reinforcing. The optimum filler contents of CS, ACS and FCS could reach 5, 7 and 15 wt.%, respectively, to obtain a good balance between fracture toughness and stiffness of the PP composites. Polarized optical microscopy (POM) observation indicated that the inclusion of these fillers could promote the heterogeneous nucleation of PP.  相似文献

Electrical conductive nanocomposite fibers were prepared with polyaniline (PANI), polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) via electrospinning. The morphology and electrical conductivity of the PANI/PAN/MWCNTs nanocomposite fibers were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Van De Pauw method. Electrical conductivity of nanocomposite fibers increased from 1.79 S·m?1 to 7.97 S·m?1 with increasing the MWCNTs content from 3.0 wt% to 7.0 wt%. Compared with PANI/PAN membranes, the mechanical property of PANI/PAN/MWCNTs nanocomposites fiber membranes decreased. The microwave absorption performance of composite films was analyzed using waveguide tube, which indicated that with the thickness increasing the value of RL reduced from ?4.6 to ?5.9 dB.  相似文献

Unsaturated polyester (UP) resin has been blended with phenolic resin (PF) resole type at various ratios to obtain a homogeneous blend with improved flame resistance compared to its parent polymers. The polymer blend was reinforced with 20 wt% kenaf using hand lay out technique. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) was used to characterize changes in the chemical structure of the synthesized composites. The thermal properties of the composites were investigated using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The thermal stability of UP/PF kenaf composites co-varies with the PF content, as shown by the degradation temperature at 50 % weight loss. The char yield of the composites increases linearly with PF content as shown by the TGA results. The flammability properties of the composites were determined using the limiting oxygen index (LOI) and UL-94 fire tests. The LOI increased with the PF content while the composites exhibit improved flame retardancy as demonstrated by UL-94 test. The mechanical and morphological properties of the composites were determined by tensile test and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. The tensile strength and the Young’s modulus of the blend/composites slightly decreased with increasing PF content albeit higher than PF/kenaf fiber composites.  相似文献

In this study, jute fabrics were modified by alkali, micro-emulsion silicon (MS) and fluorocarbon based agents (FA) in order to enhance the interfacial adhesion between the polyester matrix and the jute fiber. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and contact angle measurements were used to characterize fiber surfaces. The effects of various surface treatments on the mechanical and morphological of jute/polyester composites were also studied. All surface treatments were shown to improve the tensile, flexural strengths and interlaminar shear strengths of the composites. Moreover, the maximum improvement in the mechanical properties was obtained for the FA treated jute/polyester composites. SEM micrographs of the tensile fracture surface of jute/unsaturated polyester composites also exhibited improvement of interfacial and interlaminar shear strengths by the alkali, MS and FA treatments of jute fibers.  相似文献

A novel approach to preparing multifunctional composite nanofibrous membrane was developed. Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibrous membrane was fabricated by electrospinning and then the nitrile groups in PAN copolymer was chemically modified to obtain amidoxime modified PAN (AOPAN) nanofiber membrane which was further used as a functional support for laccase immobilization. During the process of reactive dye degradation catalyzed by the AOPAN nanofiber membrane immobilized with laccase, metal ion adsorption occurred at the same time. The chemical modification was confirmed by Fourier transform spectroscopy (FTIR). Scanning electron microscope (SEM) was employed to investigate the surface morphologies of the electrospun nanofibers before and after laccase immobilization. The effects of environmental factors on laccase activity were studied in detail. It was found that the optimum pH and temperature for the activity of immobilized laccase was 3.5 and 50 °C. The relative activity retention of the immobilized laccase decreased dramatically during the initial four repeated uses. After 20 days’ storage, the activity retention of immobilized laccase was still high above 60 %. It has also proved that laccase immobilized on AOPAN nanofiber membrane performed well in dye degradation and metal ion adsorption.  相似文献

In this work, hybrid composites were fabricated by hand layup method to hybridize treated Pineapple leaf fibre (PALF) and kenaf fibre (KF) in order to achieve superior mechanical properties on untreated hybrid composites. Silane treated PALF/KF phenolic hybrid composites were prepared on various fibre fraction to investigate mechanical properties and compared with untreated PALF/KF phenolic hybrid composites. The effects of silane treatment on hybrid composites were investigated by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and found very effective peaks. Effects of treated hybrid composites were morphologically investigated by using scanning electron microscopy images and analysed the tensile results. Treated PALF/KF phenolic hybrid composites enhanced the flexural strength, modulus, impact strength and energy absorption while tensile strength and modulus decreased. The overall performances of 70 % PALF 30 % Kenaf hybrid composites were improved after silane treatment. Silane treatment of fibres improved the mechanical performance of hybrid composites and it can be utilized to produce components for building structure, materials and automobile applications.  相似文献

The poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc)/zinc oxide (ZnO) microcapsule and PVAc/titanium dioxide (TiO2) microcapsule were synthesized via in-situ emulsion polymerization method. The PVAc/ZnO microcapsule and PVAc/TiO2 microcapsule were characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis(TG), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and UV-visible spectroscopy (UV-vis). Effect of PVAc/ZnO microcapsule and PVAc/TiO2 microcapsule on properties of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) was evaluated by UV-vis, SEM and mechanical properties test. The results showed that the addition of PVAc/ZnO and PVAc/TiO2 microcapsules as a UV-blocking additive could significantly enhance UV-blocking property of PLA/PVAc/ZnO microcapsule composites and PLA/PVAc/TiO2 microcapsule composites compared with pure PLA, PLA/ZnO composites and PLA/TiO2 composites. The mechanical properties of PLA/PVAc/ZnO microcapsule composites were better than those of PLA/ZnO composites due to good dispersability and compatibility of PVAc/ZnO microcapsule in PLA matrix. Also, the mechanical properties of PLA/PVAc/TiO2 microcapsule composites were better than those of pure PLA and PLA/TiO2 composites. This study demonstrates the great potentials of the intrinsically UV shield additive PVAc/ZnO and PVAc/TiO2 microcapsules in the application of high performance matrix resin and composite material.  相似文献

In the last decade, preparation of multifunctional composites have attracted researchers around the World for multi-purpose application. In this regard, we produced polyvinylpyrrolidone/carbon nanotubes/cotton (PVP/CNTs/cotton) nanocomposite by coating cotton fabric via pad-dry-cure under UV irradiation. Several characterization methods were used to investigate the functionality and durability including scanning electron microscopy, thermo-gravimetric analysis, flammability test, reflectance spectroscopy, tensile strength test, water absorption and antibacterial analysis. The interactions among PVP molecular chains, CNT particles and cellulose were confirmed by Raman spectroscopy. We observed a uniform coating of PVP/CNTs on the fiber surface. An advantage of our developed method was the strong interfacial interaction among compositions, high durability along with multifunctional properties. PVP/CNT nanocomposite was able not only to improve the thermal stability of cotton, but also provided a reduced flammability and good antibacterial properties. Here, we confirm a simple and versatile method for fabrication of PVP/CNTs/cellulose nanocomposite for multi-purpose applications.  相似文献

Application of electrospun nanofibrous scaffolds has received immense attention in tissue engineering. Fabrication of scaffolds with appropriate electrical properties plays a key role in neural tissue engineering. Since fibers orientation in the scaffolds affects the growth and proliferation of the cells, this study aimed to prepare aligned electrospun conductive nanofibers by mixing 1 %, 10 % and 18 % (w/v) doped polyaniline (PANI) with polycaprolactone (PCL)/poly lactic-coglycolic acid (PLGA) (25/75) solution through the electrospinning process. The fibers diameter, hydrophilicity and conductivity were measured. In addition, the shape and proliferation of the nerve cells seeded on fibers were evaluated by MTT cytotoxicity assay and scanning electron microscopy. The results revealed that the conductive nanofibrous scaffolds were appropriate substrates for the attachment and proliferation of nerve cells. The electrical stimulation enhanced neurite outgrowth compared to those PLGA/PCL/PANI scaffolds that were not subjected to electrical stimulation. As polyaniline ratio increases, electric stimulation through nanofibrous PLGA/PCL/PANI scaffolds results in cell proliferation enhancement. However, a raise more than 10 % in polyaniline will result in cell toxicity. It was concluded that conductive scaffolds with appropriate ratio of PANI along with electrical stimulation have potential applications in treatment of spinal cord injuries.  相似文献

In this research, poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/chitosan electrospun nanofibrous membrane (ENM) was prepared by electrospinning method in order to investigate its dye removal ability from colored wastewater. The morphology and average fiber diameter of the membranes were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), image analysis and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The chemical characterization was studied by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The permeability of the membranes was evaluated by measuring pure water flux (PWF). In order to investigate the performance of the prepared membranes they were used in the batch adsorption and membrane separation for dye removal from colored wastewater. The effect of pH, number of membranes and dye concentration on the dye removal ability of the ENM was investigated. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used to achieve multi-objective optimization and equations of adsorption capacity and breakthrough time regarding operating conditions. The results demonstrated the potential of using PVA/chitosan nanofiber membrane as a microfiltration (MF) membrane for dye removal. Moreover, the recoverability property of prepared membranes was noticeable.  相似文献

The present investigation focuses on the effect of fiber surface treatment on the mechanical, thermal and morphological properties of sisal fiber (SF) reinforced recycled polypropylene (RPP) composites. The surface of sisal fiber was modified using different chemicals such as silane, glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and O-hydroxybenzene diazonium chloride (OBDC) to improve the compatibility between fiber surface and polymer matrix. The experimental results revealed an improvement in the tensile strength to 11 %, 20 % and 31.36 % and impact strength to 78.72 %, 77 % and 81 % for silane, GMA and OBDC treated sisal fiber reinforced recycled polypropylene (RPP/SF) composites respectively as compared to RPP. The thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and heat deflection temperature (HDT) results revealed improved thermal stability as compared with RPP. The morphological analysis through scanning electron micrograph (SEM) supports improves surface interaction between fiber surface and polymer matrix.  相似文献

We introduced a novelty and mild method for preparing four different hydrophilic polymers (PVP, PAA, PDMAEMA, and PAM) grafted to DPVC fibrous membrane surface. To increase active sites and improve the grafting efficiency of hydrophilic polymer on PVC membrane, PVC resin was slightly dehydrochlorinated, forming a few conjugated double bonds. A minor reduction in the DPVC average molecular weight in a short dehydrochlorination time exerted minimal influence on the DPVC electrospinning process and fiber morphology. Results of ATR-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and surface wettability of modified membranes proved that hydrophilic polymers were successfully grafted covalently on the surface of the DPVC nanofibrous membrane. The hydrophilicity of the modified DPVC fibrous membrane was evidently improved. This hydrophilic DPVC fibrous membrane may fulfill potential requirements in tissue engineering and wastewater treatment.  相似文献

Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) composites containing 1 %, 3 % and 5 % silica nanoparticles were prepared by melt compounding method. The characteristics of the nanocomposites were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), tensile strength test (TST), reflectance spectroscopy (RS), electromagnetic transition test (ETT) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). XRD method showed successful incorporation of silica into the polymer matrix. SEM and AFM results showed the presence of silica aggregates on the surface of PBT sheets. Thermal analysis results demonstrated some changes in crystallinity of PBT after addition of silica. The PBT/silica nanocomposites were found to have higher electromagnetic reflection compared with the pure PBT. Silica nanoparticle is thus suggested as a good candidate for electromagnetic shielding purposes.  相似文献

The tribological performance of PA6 and carbon fiber reinforced polyamide 6 (CF/PA6) under dry sliding condition was examined. Different contents of carbon fibers were employed as reinforcement. All filled and unfilled polyamide 6 composites were tested against CGr15 ball and representative testing was performed. The effects of carbon fiber content on tribological properties of the composites were investigated. The worn surface morphologies of neat PA6 and its composites were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the wear mechanisms were discussed. Moreover, all filled polyamide 6 have superior tribological characteristics to unfilled polyamides 6. The optimum wear reduction was obtained when the content of carbon fiber is 20 vol%.  相似文献

A useful reinforcement for carbon fiber (CF) composites was found by performing the assisted electrophoretic deposition (EPD) of graphene oxide (GO) for carbon nanotubes (CNTs) onto the CF surface. GO-assisted EPD of CNTs was conducted without the use any other pre-treatment or additives in order to avoid destroying the structure of the CNTs and to facilitate preparation of stable dispersion that was suitable for EPD. The presence of GO-CNTs may effectively increase both the roughness and wettability of the CF surface, resulting in an improvement to the interfacial bonding strength between the CF and the epoxy (EP). In contrast to the pristine CF/EP composite, the GO-CNTs/CF/EP composite exhibited a 64.6 % increase in interlaminar shear strength. Meanwhile, the water absorption of the composites decreased from 0.36 wt.% to 0.14 wt.%. The variable surface morphology, surface roughness, surface free energy and surface chemical composition of the CF were considered to have had an effect on the interfacial properties of the CF/EP composites; these effects could be seen using atomic force microscopes, scanning electron microscopes, X-ray photoelectron microscopes and contact angle analysis characterizations.  相似文献
