Between 1986 and 1989 there were 9 cases of idiopathic congestive heart failure at this clinic. Normally heifers in the last 1/3 of pregnancy and young cows aged between 2.5 and 3.5 years were affected, but the disease also occurred in one younger (1.5 years), one older (6 years) and in one male animal. In contrast to other reports, myocardial fibrosis in the State of Hesse was only seen in the Rotbunte breed. The animals suffered from a severe heart failure with venous congestion and congestive edema of the brisket, the submandibular area and the ventral abdomen. In most cases there is no precise difference in history, clinical findings and laboratory findings between myocardial fibrosis, traumatic pericarditis and endocarditis valvularis. Only pathological and histological examinations of the heart confirm a suspected myocardial fibrosis: The heart is enlarged and dilatated and seems to be non-elastic. Microscopically a scattered interstitial fibrosis and signs of myocardial degeneration are visible.  相似文献

A 12‐week feeding trial was conducted to investigate the effects of two dietary probiotics; Bacillus subtilis KCTC 2217 or Bacillus licheniformis KCCM 11775 with two prebiotics; mannan oligosaccharide (MOS) or fructooligosaccharide (FOS) in Japanese eel. Fish averaging 12.8 ± 0.47 g (mean ± SD) were randomly distributed into five treatments with triplicate tanks. A basal control diet (CON) and four synbiotic diets supplementing B. subtilis + MOS (BSM), B. subtilis + FOS (BSF), B. licheniformis + MOS (BLM), and B. licheniformis + FOS (BLF). Weight gain and specific growth rate of fish fed all synbiotic diets were higher than those of fish fed CON. Immune‐related gene expression of heat shock protein 70 and immunoglobulin M of fish fed BSF and BLM were significantly higher than those of fish fed CON. Fish fed BSF and BLM had significantly higher intestinal villi length than those of fish fed BLF and CON (p < .05). Disease resistance against Aeromonas hydrophila of fish fed all synbiotic diets were significantly higher than those of fish fed CON (p < .05). Therefore, these results indicated that dietary B. subtilis with FOS (BSF) and B. licheniformis with MOS (BLM) could have beneficial effects on intestinal morphology, and immune‐related gene expression in Japanese eel.  相似文献

In this paper ophthalmological and clinical results as well as the literature on lens-induced uveitis (LIU), a relatively unknown pathological syndrome in domestic animals, are presented. Out of all ocular material sent to the Institute of Pathology, GSF, from 1970 until 1990 (n = 864), 40 individual cases of LIU (14 cases in dogs, 13 in cats, 10 in rabbits, 1 in a horse and 2 in birds) were diagnosed. The histology of the eyes of the cases is characterized by a lesion of the lens capsule and a consequent reactive phacogenic inflammation of the anterior segment of the eye in the region of the anterior uvea. A comparison of the history and ophthalmological diagnosis indicates that 36 lens-induced uveitis cases occurred following a (spontaneous) traumatic injury to the eye, whereby the anterior lens capsule was perforated with the result of the lens material being exuded into the anterior uvea (iris-ciliary body region). The strongly vascularized anterior uvea is used as a carrier and a connecting link to the immune system. None of the histologically examined cases of LIU were diagnosed as such clinically. This can be explained by the fact that the uveitis is difficult to recognize on account of overlying secondary alterations in the eye. Nevertheless the morphological substrate of LIU is considered to be pathognomonic. The inflammatory and cellular reactions leading to a release of the lens material observed in domestic and laboratory animals exhibit only slight parallels to those observed in man. The case history of animals usually reveals a traumatic injury and an endophthalmitis (with or without secondary glaucoma) which cannot be controlled therapeutically. The therapy for promptly diagnosed cases should be a lens extraction to save the affected eye and its sight. In advanced cases the enucleation of the bulbus is the therapy of choice.  相似文献

Two feeding trials were conducted in two stages to compare growth and performance, grow‐out (1–9 g b.w.) and fattening (13–19 g b.w.), of Penaeus semisulcatus. Shrimps were fed with two commercial feeds: P. monodon feed and P. japonicus feed. Both experiments were conducted using an indoor flow‐through tank culture system. The results reveal that the growth performance of shrimp fed with P. japonicus feeds (0.91 g shrimp?1 week?1) for the grow‐out stage was significantly better than shrimp fed with P. monodon feeds (0.63 g shrimp?1 week?1). The growth performance of shrimp fed with P. monodon feed (0.56 g shrimp?1 week?1) for the fattening stage was significantly better than shrimp fed with P. japonicus feed (0.42 g shrimp?1 week?1). The feed conversion ratios of both diets for the two sizes did not differ significantly. Thus, it is recommended that P. japonicus feeds be fed to P. semisulcatus during the grow‐out stage. During the fattening stage, the better growth performance of the shrimp fed with P. monodon feed makes it a better feed. However, colour and overall acceptability of shrimp fed with P. japonicus feed were generally higher than those fed with P. monodon feed.  相似文献

通过选取11个侧视形态特征度量进行主成分分析(principal component analysis,PCA),同时设置26个标记点进行相对扭曲分析(relative warp analysis,RWA),比较了中华鲟(Acipenser sinensis)和西伯利亚鲟(A.baerii)幼鱼在侧视形态上的差异以及相对扭曲分析和传统多元分析在鲟鱼形态研究中的优劣。结合前期对它们的有氧游泳能力比较结果(西伯利亚鲟比中华鲟强25%),分析了鲟鱼形态的水动力功能。主成分分析比较表明,中华鲟头长、头高、背鳍前基点之后的躯干高度、尾柄长、背鳍前缘长度均显著大于西伯利亚鲟(P<0.05),而尾鳍上叶显著短于西伯利亚鲟(P<0.05)。相对扭曲分析计算样本的几何信息并可视化统计结果,表明中华鲟的吻厚、吻长、头高、头长、躯干后半段高、背鳍前缘长显著大于西伯利亚鲟,而尾柄长和尾鳍上下叶长显著小于西伯利亚鲟(P<0.001)。上述形态特征直接影响着两种鲟鱼的游泳能力。  相似文献

Some teleost fishes exhibit a non-linear release of H+ with haemoglobin oxygen saturation (SO2) in whole blood that may be related to the Root effect and a low apparent cooperativity in oxygen binding. To further investigate this correlation, the relationship between red cell pH (pHi) and SO2 was evaluated in two teleost fishes, the carp (Cyprinus carpio) and tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum). Carp possess a relatively small Root effect within the physiological pH range, while that in tambaqui is relatively large. It was therefore hypothesized that both species would possess a non-linear release of H+ with SO2 under in vivo conditions, but that the degree of non-linearity would be less pronounced in carp than in tambaqui. Red cell suspensions of tambaqui showed a marked non-linear relationship between pHi and SO2 at in vivo pH values (pHe=7.66), where the majority of Bohr protons were released between 50 and 100% SO2. In whole blood of carp, the relationship between pHi and SO2 was almost linear at normal resting extracellular pH values (pHe=8.10) where Hills n 50 (cooperativity) was 1.3. Under acidic conditions (pHe=7.11), n 50 decreased to 0.9 and the release of H+ with SO2 became slightly non-linear. The reduction in pH in carp blood was associated with the onset of the Root effect, and the oxygen tension at half saturation (P50) increased from 3.8 to 38.2 mmHg. The relationship between total CO2 and SO2 in carp whole blood changed from being almost linear at pHe 8.1 to being non-linear at pHe 7.1, consistent with the relationship between pHi and SO2. Thus, possession of a Root effect could be a prerequisite for a non-linear release of Bohr protons with oxygenation, but the expression in whole blood may depend upon a species-specific cooperativity threshold. The non-linear release of Bohr protons with oxygenation may be a general phenomenon in teleosts with important implications for gas transport and acid-base homeostasis.  相似文献

采用水平淀粉凝胶电泳技术研究了梭鱼 (L iza haematochelia)自然群体 (2 9尾 )与养殖群体(31尾 ) 10种酶 2 2个位点的等位基因酶遗传变异情况。自然群体和养殖群体的多态位点比例 (P95)分别为 0 .2 6 2和 0 .131。在养殖群体中的 G3PD- 3和 PGM位点观察到相当多的杂合子 ,导致这两个位点杂合度远大于自然群体 ,进而造成养殖群体平均杂合度 0 .0 92± 0 .0 5 1高于自然群体的平均杂合度0 .0 6 4± 0 .0 36。而养殖群体的平均杂合子缺失指数 - 0 .36 4± 0 .10 4和平均有效等位基因数 1.132±0 .0 5 9高于自然群体的相应各值 :- 0 .0 6 77± 0 .0 76和 1.10 1± 0 .0 36。对两个群体各位点等位基因分布以及杂合度进行相关性检验 ,其相关系数分别为 0 .9838和 0 .816 3,相关程度较高。与其他位点相比 ,G3PD- 3和 PGM位点属于多变异位点 ,养殖群体在这两个位点杂合度较高的原因 ,可能与养殖过程中环境因素造成的蛋白质表达的个体差异有关。两个群体的 Nei遗传距离很近 ,为 0 .0 0 9;遗传相似程度很高 ,遗传相似性系数达 0 .991  相似文献

The efficiency of the rotifer Brachionus calyciflorus Pallas as a nutritional source for rearing larvae was studied in a coldwater cyprinid, the gudgeon Gobio gobio (L.), and in a percid, the perch Perca fluviatilis L., through their composition in fatty acids. Rotifer intake affected the fatty acid profiles of the larvae significantly, with an especially remarkable presence of the linoleic family. In gudgeon fed with rotifers, the polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) reached 10.98% of the dry weight of the sample. This rate was highly influenced by the presence of the acids C18:2n-6 and C22:6n-3 which represented 66% of the total PUFA. In perch fed exclusively with rotifers, the PUFA represented 7.27% of the dry weight. In both cases, the ratio n-3/n–6 decreased by 75% and 73% after 10 days of feeding with B. calyciflorus. This variation was probably due to the exogenous supply in acids of the linoleic family through the rotifers and to the fact that these two species of fish seem to favour the mobilization of the n-3 PUFA such as C22:6n-3 for growth and survival. Moreover, with the utilization of rotifers. the reactions of elongation and desaturation from the C18:2n-6 and C18:1n-9 seemed to be much more important in the larvae. Lastly, the transition from a diet based on rotifers to one made up exclusively of frozen Artemia nauplii led to a significant reduction of fatty acids in fish. It reached 60.2% and 26.5% of the total fatty acids in the gudgeon and perch, respectively, and was observed especially at the level of the PUFA. On the other hand, a slight increase of the ratio n-3/n-6 was pointed out in the perch fed a mixed diet (co-feeding with rotifers and dry food), a phenomenon probably due to the reduction of C18:2n-6 in the larvae.  相似文献

Abstract –  This study aimed to evaluate otter predation on stocked trout. Large hatchery-reared trout (16–30 cm) were stocked into two Danish rivers with different fish populations. Otter diet before and after trout stocking was determined by analysing 685 spraints, collected regularly during the 35-day study period. Fish composition in the rivers before stocking was assessed by electrofishing. In River Trend, a typical trout river, the proportion of trout in the otter diet increased from 8% before stocking to 33% a few days after stocking. Moreover, trout lengths in the diet changed significantly towards the lengths of stocked trout, indicating that newly stocked trout were preferred to wild trout. In River Skals, dominated by cyprinids, there was no change in otter diet after stocking of hatchery trout, i.e., these were ignored by otter. Otter predation should be taken into account together with fish and bird predation, when stocking is used as a measure for conserving endangered salmonid populations.  相似文献

Abstract. Yellow head baculo-like virus infection and disease were demonstrated experimentally in the two main species of penaeid shrimp cultured in Hawaii and the Western hemisphere. Viral infection was induced by intramuscular inoculation of a 10% suspension of cephalothorax tissue filtrate prepared from two tiger shrimp, Penaeus monodon Fabricius, infected with yellow head disease, into sub-adult (3–10g) P. stylirostris (Stimpson) and P. vannamei (Boone). Signs of disease appeared as early as 2 days post infection (p.i.), and in most cases mortality reached 100% within 5–7 days p.i. Histopathological examination of the infected animals revealed extensive cellular necrosis in ectodermal and some mesenchymal tissues. Electron microscopical examination of thin sections of the gill and hepatopancreas from the infected shrimp revealed non-occluded rod-shaped baculo-like virus particles measuring 130–197 & 45–58 nm which were primarily localized within the cytoplasm of infected cells. The virus particles were contained within cytoplasmic vacuoles, and occurred singly or in small groups of two or more particles.  相似文献

The present study investigated the effect of fish meal (FM) replacement with fermented soybean meal (FSM) on growth and feed utilization of rainbow trout. Two FSM products, FSM1 (more fermentation with more small peptide and acid than FSM2) and FSM2 were used to replace 20%, 40% and 60% of FM in control diet (250 g/kg FM), respectively (FSM1‐20, FSM1‐40, FSM1‐60, FSM2‐20, FSM2‐40 and FSM2‐60). Then the seven diets were fed to rainbow trout (18.1 g) for 8 weeks. Weight gain (WG), feed conversion ratio (FCR) and digestibility of crude protein and dry matter showed no significant difference among the groups of FSM1‐20, FSM1‐40, FSM2‐20, FSM2‐40 and the control, but WG significantly decreased and FCR increased when 60% FM was replaced by both FSMs (p < .05). The replacement of 40%, 60% FM resulted in lower villus height than the control (p < .05), and intestinal protease activity was lower in FSM2‐40, FSM2‐60 and FSM1‐60 groups than the control group (p < .05). In addition, the activity of alkaline phosphatase and superoxide dismutase increased with increasing levels of FSM (p < .05). In conclusion, dietary fish meal could be replaced by 40% with both FSMs without adverse effects on growth and feed utilization of rainbow trout based on an eight weeks feeding trial.  相似文献

Wild caught post-pueruli, year one and year two post settlement juvenile western rock lobster, Panulirus cygnus, were held at ambient temperatures (15.6 °C to 23.1 °C; mean 19.0 ± 0.07 °C) or at 23 °C, and fed the same ration of a formulated pellet diet either once per night, or 3 times per night, over 12 months, to determine whether elevated temperatures and multiple feeds per night would stimulate growth through increased metabolism and feed utilisation without significant negative impacts on survival. Survival of post-pueruli (mean 63%) did not differ between ambient and 23 °C. Survival of year 1 and 2 juveniles was higher at ambient temperatures (p < 0.01 ambient: year 1 juveniles, 68%; year 2 juveniles, 88%; 23 °C: 57% and 74%, respectively). Feeding frequency did not affect survival of post-pueruli and year 2 juveniles (mean 63%, 81% respectively), but survival was 9% higher for year 1 juveniles fed three times per night (58% versus 67%; p < 0.01). All lobsters grew faster at 23 °C than at ambient temperatures (p < 0.05), with the growth of post-pueruli almost doubled at 23 °C (weight gain at 23 °C versus ambient: post-pueruli, 18 438 % versus 9 915 %; year 1 juveniles 259% versus 165%; year 2 juveniles 23% versus 21%). Feed frequency did not influence the growth of year 1 and 2 juveniles. However, there was an interaction effect of temperature and feed frequency on post-pueruli where weight and carapace length were significantly higher at ambient temperatures when post-pueruli were fed three times a day, whereas at 23 °C weight and carapace length were significantly greater when fed once per day (p < 0.05). Feed intake (g pellet dry matter lobster− 1 day− 1) of pellet was higher at 23 °C for all lobsters (p < 0.05), but was the same between lobsters fed 3 times per night versus once per night. This study has shown that increasing temperatures to 23 °C significantly improved the growth of P. cygnus post-pueruli without any adverse effects on survival. The faster growth rates exhibited by year 1 and 2 juveniles at 23 °C may potentially offset their lower survival by significantly reducing culture period. There is no benefit of feeding P. cygnus multiple times at night in terms of growth and survival. The implications for P. cygnus culture are that temperatures should be maintained close to 23 °C during the entire growout period, with due care taken to minimise mortalities through adequate provision of food and shelter. Feeding P. cygnus once daily to excess just prior to dusk to co-incide with nocturnal feeding behaviour is recommended.  相似文献

Mass mortalities of hatchery-reared juvenile groupers have occurred in southern Taiwan. The diseased fish swam in a darting, corkscrew fashion. Light microscopy revealed vacuolation in the brain tissue. Electron microscopy showed numerous non-enveloped, cytoplasmic viral particles (20–25 nm in diameter) in the brain cells, and many virions were enclosed in the membrane-bound organelles of the cells. Two structural proteins of the purified grouper virus, with molecular weights of 44 and 43 kDa, were revealed by SDS-PAGE. Moreover, the results of RT-PCR and nested PCR diagnosis using primers specific to the T2 and T4 target segments of striped jack nervous necrosis virus (SJNNV) RNA2 genes suggest that this virus is a fish nodavirus, and is designated as GNNV 9410 strain (grouper nervous necrosis virus strain 9410). This is the first case report of viral nervous necrosis among marine fish in Taiwan.  相似文献

Digestive proteases present in two sparids, seabream (Sparus aurata) and common dentex (Dentex dentex), have been characterized using both biochemical and electrophoretic techniques. Although optimum pH and temperature for maximum activity of both acid and alkaline proteases were similar in the two species, important differences in total activity, as well as in thermal and pH stability were found. Specific inhibitors and SDS-PAGE zymograms were used to clarify such differences. Evidences support the existence of a more active and complex protease set in dentex. Results are discussed from the perspective of their application to the formulation of feeds for each species.  相似文献
