Permethrin, cypermethrin, and resmethrin were tested under field conditions as repellents to protect cattle from black flies (Simulium spp.). The chemicals were applied topically to the entire body surface of steers. Ethanolic solutions of technical permethrin, at doses of 1, 2, 4 and 6 mg a. i. kg?1 of body weight, effectively repelled black flies by preventing at least 70% of the flies present from taking a blood meal for up to 8 days, and for at least 11 days at a dose of 12 mg a. i. kg?1. Aqueous mixtures of a 20% permethrin emulsifiable concentrate (e. c.), at doses of 1, 2 and 6 mg a. i. kg?1, effectivelyrepelled black flies for 2, 10 and 11 days, respectively. Aready-to-use 5% permethrin dust, at doses of 1, 2, and 4 mg a. i. kg?1, effectively repelled black flies for 4, 5 and 8 days, respectively. Ethanolic solutions of technical cypermethrin, at doses of 1 and 2 mg a. i. kg?1, repelled black flies for 3 and 4 days, respectively. Aqueous mixtures of a 40% cypermethrin e. c., at doses of 2 and 4 mg a. i. kg?1, repelled black flies for at least 5 days. Ethanolic solutions of technical resmethrin, at doses of 2 and 6 mg a. i. kg?1, repelled black flies for 1 and 2 days, respectively.  相似文献

Foliar applications of synthetic pyrethroids were made to several crops to determine residue levels at various intervals after application. On onions, residues of cypermethrin, permethrin and fenvalerate were negligible > 0.1 mg kg?1, 7 days after application. On lettuce, residues of fenvalerate and permethrin were 0.8 mg kg?1. On celery, residues of fenvalerate did not decline and ranged from 0.12 to 0.25 mg kg?1 during the 14-day period. On green bush-beans, residues of permethrin and cypermethrin did not decline during the 14-day period and ranged from 0.1 to 0.6 mg kg?1. By day 7, residues of cyfluthrin, cypermethrin, deltamethrin, fenvalerate and permethrin on strawberries were less than the acceptable maximum tolerance of 0.1 mg kg?1 with the exception of cypermethrin, applied at the rate of 0.14 kg a.i. ha?1 which gave a residue of 0.14 mg kg?1.  相似文献

Populations of bodylice, Pediculus humanus humanus L., in Egypt have become resistant to DDT and BHC, but not to malathion. A single dust application of permethrin (1 % a.i.; cis: trans-ratio 25:75) rendered 98.9% of the treated population louse-free. Thirty-seven days after dusting 91.3% and at the end of the 98-day observation period 64.6% of the population were free of infestation; during the same period the proportion of infested individuals rose by 12.3% in a similar untreated village. Permethrin is ovicidal against bodylice, affects the population of the human flea, PulexirritansL., and ishighly effective against the rat flea, Xenopsyllacheopis(Rothsch.).  相似文献

Permethrin and deltamethrin, two synthetic pyrethroid insecticides, are registered in several countries for use on lettuce. Both chemicals were applied on autumn and spring grown lettuce in the glasshouse. When applied at the normal prescribed dose rates of 25 and 12.5 g a.i. ha?1, < 1 mg kg?1 of either compound was found in the lettuce at harvest, even when applied only a few days before harvest. The total amount of active ingredient applied was too low to reach the 1 mg kg?1 level when evenly applied on marketable lettuce heads weighing about 200 g each. Applying a higher dose than 25 g permethrin a.i. ha?1 or 12.5 g deltamethrin a.i. ha?1, or applying two applications in the 2 weeks prior to harvest, may well result in residue levels higher than the maximum residue limit of 1 mg kg?1 for permethrin and certainly higher than the maximum residue limit of 0.2 mg kg?1 for deltamethrin, which is more persistent.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: A mixture of trifloxystrobin and tebuconazole is excellent in controlling both powdery and downy mildew of grapes. The objective of the present work was to study the behaviour of trifloxystrobin and tebuconazole on grape berries and soil following treatment with Nativo 75 WG, a formulation containing both fungicides (trifloxystrobin 250 + tebuconazole 500 g kg?1). This study was carried out for planned registration of this mixture for use on grapes in India. RESULTS: Initial residue deposits of trifloxystrobin and tebuconazole on grapes were below their maximum residue limit (MRL) of 0.5 and 2 mg kg?1, respectively, when Nativo 75 WG was applied at the recommended dose of 175 g product ha?1. The residues dissipated gradually to 0.02 and 0.05 mg kg?1 by 30 days, and were below the quantifiable limit of 0.01 mg kg?1 at the time of harvest (60 days after the last treatment). Trifloxystrobin and tebuconazole dissipated at a pre‐harvest interval (PHI) of 36 and 34 days, respectively, from the recommended treatment dose. The acid metabolite of trifloxystrobin, CGA 321 113, was not detected in grape berries at any point in time. Soil at harvest was free of any pesticide residues. CONCLUSION: Residue levels of both trifloxystrobin and tebuconazole were below MRLs when grapes were harvested 30 days after the last of four applications of 175 g product ha?1 (trifloxystrobin 44 g AI ha?1, tebuconazole 88 g AI ha?1) under the semi‐arid tropical climatic conditions of India. The depletion of zeta‐cypermethrin residues in bovine tissues and milk was studied. Beef cattle were treated three times at 3‐week intervals with 1 ml 10 kg?1 body weight of a 25 g litre?1 or 50 g litre?1 pour‐on formulation (2.5 and 5.0 mg zeta‐cypermethrin kg?1 body weight) or 100 mg kg?1 spray to simulate a likely worst‐case treatment regime. Friesian and Jersey dairy cows were treated once with 2.5 mg zeta‐cypermethrin kg?1 in a pour‐on formulation. Muscle, liver and kidney residue concentrations were generally less than the limit of detection (LOD = 0.01 mg kg?1). Residues in renal‐fat and back‐fat samples from animals treated with 2.5 mg kg?1 all exceeded the limit of quantitation (LOQ = 0.05 mg kg?1), peaking at 10 days after treatment. Only two of five kidney fat samples were above the LOQ after 34 days, but none of the back‐fat samples exceeded the LOQ at 28 days after treatment. Following spray treatments, fat residues were detectable in some animals but were below the LOQ at all sampling intervals. Zeta‐cypermethrin was quantifiable (LOQ = 0.01 mg kg?1) in only one whole‐milk sample from the Friesian cows (0.015 mg kg?1, 2 days after treatment). In whole milk from Jersey cows, the mean concentration of zeta‐cypermethrin peaked 1 day after treatment, at 0.015 mg kg?1, and the highest individual sample concentration was 0.025 mg kg?1 at 3 days after treatment. Residues in milk were not quantifiable beginning 4 days after treatment. The mean concentrations of zeta‐cypermethrin in milk fat from Friesian and Jersey cows peaked two days after treatment at 0.197 mg kg?1 and 0.377 mg kg?1, respectively, and the highest individual sample concentrations were 2 days after treatment at 0.47 mg kg?1 and 0.98 mg kg?1, respectively. © 2001 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Fluazifop-butyl applied in lung oil at rates of 4.4 to 0.5 g a.i. kg?1 soybean seeds was evaluated in the glasshouse for control of Eleuisine indica. Soybean seeds pretreated with herbicide at 4.4 to 2.1 g a.i. kg?1 gave 100% control of E. indica at the highest sowing rate of four seeds per pot and 90 to 80% control when sowed at one seed per pot. Soybeans were not injured by the seed treatment. Cotton seeds pre-treated with fluazifop at 2.2 g a.i. kg?1 seeds and sown 4 cm apart in a row across a 20 ± 20cm tray of soil containing seeds of Echinochloa crus-galli produced a weed-free band 12 cm wide centred on the row of cotton, without injury to cotton. CGA-82725 (2-propynyl 2-(4-((3, 5-dichloro-2-pyridinyl)oxy)phenoxy) propanoate) at 2–3 g a.i. kg?1 seeds was as effective as 4–4 g fluazifop-butyl in controlling E. indica. but growth of soybean was retarded. Sethoxydim gave less control than fluazifop butyl at comparable rates and did not injure soybeans.  相似文献

Organophosphorothioates and synergised synthetic pyrethroids were used in duplicate field trials carried out on bulk wheat in commercial silos in Queensland and New South Wales. Laboratory bioassays using malathion-resistant strains of insects were carried out on samples of treated grain at intervals over 9 months. These established that all treatments were generally effective. Deltamethrin (2 mg kg?1)+ piperonyl butoxide (8 mg kg?1), fenitrothion (12 mg kg?1)+ fenvalerate (1 mg kg?1)+ piperonyl butoxide (8 mg kg?1), fenitrothion (12 mg kg?1)+ phenothrin (2 mg kg?1)+ piperonyl butoxide (8 mg kg?1) and pirimiphos-methyl (4 mg kg?1)+ permethrin (1 mg kg?1)+ piperonyl butoxide (8 mg kg?1) controlled common field strains of Sitophilus oryzae (L.) and Rhyzopertha dominica (F.). Against a highly resistant strain of S. oryzae, deltamethrin (2 mg kg?1)+ piperonyl butoxide (8 mg kg?1) was superior to the remaining treatments. All treatment combinations completely prevented progeny production in Tribolium castaneum (Herbst), T. confusum Jacquelin du Val and in Ephestia cautella (Walker). Residues of deltamethrin, fenvalerate, permethrin and phenothrin were determined and shown to be highly persistent on stored wheat. During milling, residues accumulated in the bran fractions and were reduced in white flour. They were not significantly reduced during baking.  相似文献

The fungicide mancozeb belongs to ethylenebis(dithiocarbamate) group of fungicides which is used to control brown and black rust, leaf spot, leaf blight, downy mildew etc. on a variety of plants including egg plants, tomato, potato and others. [14C]mancozeb, when applied to the foliage of egg plants (Solanum melongena L.) during summer months, dissipated very rapidly with a half-life of only 10·6 days. Ethylenethiourea (ETU), ethyleneurea (EU), ethylenethiuram disulfide (ETD), ethylenethiuram monosulfide (ETM) were the metabolites of [14C]mancozeb detected in all the plant parts at different times after the treatment. The amount of ETU in fruits after fourteen days of treatment was only 206 μg kg?1 which is below the maximum permissible level and ultimately came down to 4·6 μg kg?1 after 42 days. EU was found to be the predominant metabolite, suggesting the breakdown of unstable ETU to relatively stable EU under subtropical conditions.  相似文献

Rape seedlings grown from seeds treated with a gamma-HCH seed dressing at a dose rate of 15.7 g kg?1 had a maximum gamma-HCH concentration of 380 mg kg?1 in seedlings collected 1 day after emergence. The mean gamma-HCH concentration in the seedlings decreased to 2.6 and to 0.9 mg kg?1 by 7 and 15 days after emergence, respectively. Gamma-HCH was chemically detected in true leaves, at concentrations up to 1.9 mg kg?1, indicating translocation of gamma-HCH in young plants.  相似文献

The disappearance kinetics of the carbamate insecticide, carbosulfan, applied at 2 kg AI ha?1 (‘Marshal’ 250 g litre?1 EC) in peaches was studied. Degradation took place in two consecutive stages (0–28 and 28–57 days), with half-lives of 7.4 and 17.5 days, respectively. The residues obtained 57 days after treatment did not exceed 0.2 mg kg?1. When treatments were carried out 30, 21 and 14 days before the probable date of harvest (date of fruit maturation) with two doses (1.0 and 2.0 g formulated product litre?1) and two volumes applied (750 and 1500 litre ha?1), the residual levels detected were between 0.122 mg kg?1 (30 days before harvest) and 0.4 mg kg?1 (14 days before harvest). The major metabolite, carbofuran, was never detected above its determination limit of 0.004 mg kg?1 throughout the whole study.  相似文献

The baseline susceptibility of the Indian field mouse, Mus booduga was established for warfarin, bromadiolone and brodifacoum by means of nochoice feeding tests. The mice were found to be more susceptible to the second generation anticoagulants bromadiolone (0.005 g kg?1) and brodifacoum (0.002 g kg?1) than warfarin (0-25 g kg?1). They required 8–10 days feeding on warfarin (0.25 g kg?1) diet for complete mortality. A feeding period of 8 days corresponding to 99% mortality was suggested as a checking test for registering future warfarin resistance in suspect samples of M. booduga.  相似文献

Fenvalerate, deltamethrin, (1R)-cis-permethrin, (1R)-trans-permethrin and (1S)-trans-permethrin, applied topically to the entire body surface of steers at a rate of 1 mg a.i. kg−1, provided 70% or better protection from black flies on cattle for 16, 9, 8, 6 and 6 days, respectively. The (1S)-cis stereoisomer of permethrin was ineffective as a protectant against black flies at a rate of 1 mg a.i. kg−1 when applied as a total body spray. One poly(vinyl chloride) ear tag containing 10% permethrin, in each ear of steers, provided protection from black fly attack for up to 13 days under field conditions. Poly(vinyl chloride) ear tags containing 8% fenvalerate, installed in each ear of steers, did not provide satisfactory protection from black flies under field conditions.  相似文献

Carbaryl residues in wheat grain have been determined in methanol extracts using normal-phase high-pressure liquid chromatography (h. p. l. c.) with ultraviolet detection. A single-injection, clean-up and analysis technique was used to allow more rapid analysis of samples after extraction. A detection limit of 0.1 mg kg?1 in a 50 g sample of wheat was achieved. Recoveries of 86% at the 1 mg kg?1 level and 90-99% at the 5 mg kg?1 level were obtained for fortified grain samples. Methanol was found to be a superior extractant for carbaryl from wheat when compared with hexane, acetone and dichloromethane. Twelve samples containing aged carbaryl residues were analysed by the h. p. l. c. technique and by a colorimetric procedure which allowed statistical analysis of errors. For the h. p. l. c. method (excluding sampling error), a relative standard deviation of 4.4% was obtained.  相似文献

Blackcurrants, treated with 0.1 kg of 2,4,5-T ha?1 (as esters of mixed C4–C6 alcohols; ‘Tormona 80’), contained 0.1 mg of 2,4,5-T residues kg?1 in the berries at ripeness 29 days after treatment. Total residues in the berries were not reduced during growth and ripening, although the residue concentrations declined in the same period due to growth dilution. In spinach leaves from old plants, treated with 0.1 kg ha?1, 0.05 mg of 2,4,5-T kg?1 was found 14 days after treatment. Fodder peas showed no residues (< 0.002 mg kg?1) at harvest 62 days after treatment with 2,4,5-T esters. After application of 0.1 kg ha?1 on potato plants, the disappearance of 2,4,5-T was rapid during the first month, but residues were translocated into the tubers and reached a constant level of 0.02 mg kg?1 after 1 month until harvest at 108 days after treatment. In all crops, visible effects were observed after treatment with 0.1 kg ha?1. After the application at 0.01 kg ha?1, phytotoxic effects were observed only in blackcurrants, but negligible residues were found in all the test crops.  相似文献

In a dietary toxicity study, laying hens received a diet containing the rodenticide flocoumafen at concentrations of 1.5, 5, 10 and 50 mg kg?1 for five consecutive days. The LC50 at termination following a 28-day observation period was 16.4 mg kg?1. Livers of birds which received doses of flocoumafen between 5 and 50 mg kg?1 had concentrations of flocoumafen (1.5 nmol g?1) that were independent of dose. The data indicate the presence in hen liver of a saturable high-affinity flocoumafen binding site with similar characteristics and capacity to that of the quail and rat. Residues of flocoumafen in samples of breast and leg muscle were low in all exposure groups. Higher, dose-related residues were found in samples of abdominal fat and skin-associated fat and there was a clear demonstration of the transfer of dose-related residues into eggs. In a separate study in which hens were dosed with [14C]flocoumafen for five consecutive days at a daily rate of 1 and 4 mg kg?1 body weight, the majority (68 %) of the daily radioactive dose was eliminated over the following 24 hours via excreta. Residues in liver at death or when killed accounted for < 1 % of the cumulative administered radioactivity. Residues in eggs were located primarily in the yolk with maximum concentrations 1.0 mg kg?1 or 0.18% of the low dose; 2.1 mg kg?1 or 0.06% of the high dose as [14C]flocoumafen equivalents were observed at 10 days after start of dosing. Some 40 % of the total activity in the yolk was unchanged flocoumafen.  相似文献

Sugar beet, wheat, lettuce and cotton were grown in soil treated with [14C]permethrin, the crops being sown at intervals of 30, 60 and 120 days after treatment of the soil. The uptake of radioactive residues into these crops was measured. Low radioactive residues (up to 0.86 μg g?1) were detected in the mature plants sown 30 days after soil treatment, and this uptake declined significantly as the interval between soil treatment and sowing increased. Metabolites derived from the acid moiety of the permethrin molecule were shown to constitute the greater part of the residue transferring from the soil to the crops. (1RS)-cis- and (1RS)-trans-3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)- 2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid and 3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)-1-methylcyclopropane-1,2-dicarboxylic acid were identified as the major acidic metabolites. The latter compound is a metabolite of permethrin which has not previously been identified in soil or plants.  相似文献

Permethrin was tested for the protection of cattle against field populations of mosquitoes. Permethrin (500 ml of a permethrin 4·0 g liter?1 aqueous emulsion) applied with a ‘Dual-Cloud’ electrostatic sprayer was effective in providing coverage of the cattle body surface of a group of four animals; 100 ml of a permethrin 5·0 g liter?1 aqueous emulsion applied with a ‘Dual-Cloud'’ electrostatic sprayer as a total body spray to a yearling heifer provided 70% or better protection from field populations of mosquitoes for at least 72 h; 500 ml of a permethrin 1·0 g liter?1 aqueous emulsion applied as a low-pressure spray to the body of a yearling heifer provided 70% or better protection from mosquitoes for at least 140 h. Permethrin applied as a total body-spray thus provides adequate protection to cattle from field populations of mosquitoes.  相似文献

A study has been made of the influence of pesticides used annually on soil microorganisms and crop yields. The persistence of these pesticides in the soil was also investigated. The herbicides MCPA, glyphosate, maleic hydrazide and tri-allate, and the insecticide parathion, were applied on experimental plots on which barley was grown during the years 1973-1981. The fungicide 2-methoxyethylmercury chloride was used every year for dressing the seeds grown in pesticide-treated plots. The pesticide treatments did not affect significantly the numbers of several groups of soil microorganisms. A slight increase was, however, observed in the nitrification activity in the soil. The barley yields were on average higher on pesticide-treated plots than on controls because of successful weed control. Pesticide residues in the soil were generally very low; for example, for parathion they were below 0.02 mg kg?1 within 11 days, and for MCPA 0.06 mg kg?1 within 7 days. However, the glyphosate residue was 1.6 mg kg?1 in the autumn 2 days after the treatment, and the residue settled to a level of 0.2 mg kg?1 during the following summer. No clear dependence was observed between the residue level and the time between treatment and sampling.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Insect growth regulators are promising alternatives to traditional pesticides in stored grain. The efficacy of the juvenile hormone analogue methoprene was evaluated as a layer treatment in a laboratory experiment for control of Rhyzopertha dominica (F.) (Coleoptera: Bostrychidae) in wheat, rice and maize. RESULTS: Adults of R. dominica were placed in vials containing 33, 26 and 29 g (to a depth of 6.5 cm) of wheat, rice and maize, respectively, that was entirely or partially treated with 1, 5 or 10 mg kg?1 methoprene. In wheat and rice, the layer treatments were not as effective as the whole‐grain treatment, but there was decreased progeny production as the application rate increased. However, on maize the partial treatments were as effective as the whole‐grain treatment at 5 and 10 mg kg?1. CONCLUSIONS: The results suggest that partial layer treatments with methoprene can be used to control R. dominica on maize but may not be effective for control of this species on wheat and rice.
