Minced Taiwan mauxia shrimp Acetes intermedius , an alternative to brine shrimp Artemia sp. nauplii, has long been used as a principal or supplemental feed in prawn hatcheries in Southeast Asia and India. In this study, black tiger prawn Penaeus monodon postlarvae were fed with frozen brine shrimp nauplii (diet B) or minced Taiwan mauxia shrimp (diet M) for 4 wk to compare their astaxanthin concentration and composition, survival, and growth. Diet B contained two and a half times more total carotenoid (TC) than diet M, with canthaxanthin as a major (79%) carotenoid, but without astaxanthin, a predominant carotenoid in crustaceans. Of its TC in diet M, 55% was β-carotene and 17% astaxanthin. B-prawn (postlarvae fed with diet B) had a similar growth rate as M-prawn and twice the survival rate as M-prawn. The concentrations of total astaxanthin (TA), free astaxanthin (FA), astaxanthin monoester (MA), and astaxanthin di-ester (DA) in B-prawn were all higher than those in M-prawn. Except for FA, no reduction of TA, MA, or DA concentration during the feeding interval was found in B-prawn. However, concentrations of TA, FA, MA, and DA in M-prawn all decreased. TC content of the experimental diets had a greater influence on resulting prawn astaxanthin concentration and composition than carotenoid compositions of the diets.  相似文献

Abilities of detection and preference of food by a Japanese whelk, Buccinum isaotakii, were investigated under laboratory conditions. Consumption per food item and the corresponding assimilation efficiency were also de termined. Whelks were more sensitive to fresh foods than boiled foods, detecting them in a short period of time varying between 3.8 (±0.8) and 23.1 (±3.1) minutes. B. isaotakii preferred fish, polychate and bivalves and the time spent on these foods was more than 10 min as compared with those of shrimp (2.0 min) and squid (1.0 min). The highest daily consumption rate was observed on sardine, followed by scallop, polychaete and oyster. The relationship between shell length and consumption of different food items was positive. The coefficients of determination were relatively high for sardine, scallop, polychaete and oyster (r 2, between 0.46 and 0.51) but not for clam, mussel shrimp and squid (r 2, between 0.003 and 0.176), suggesting that the former could be predators of consumption for B. isaotakii. Observed were relatively high assimilation efficiencies on sardine, scallop, polychaete, and oyster, ranging from 30 to 70%. The present results are the intial information pertaining to the feeding biology of this whelk, thus, in-depth studies like an energy budget are recommended to deepen the understanding about seed production and resource management.  相似文献

Juvenile and adultArtemia produced in a semi flow-through culture system were used as food for postlarval shrimp. The growth performance of shrimp reared on such ongrownArtemia live prey is identical to the growth obtained when feeding newly hatchedArtemia. However, a significantly better stress resistance is obtained when the postlarvae are exposed to a low salinity in a stress test. Besides nutritional and energetic advantages, the use ofArtemia biomass for feeding postlarval shrimp also results in improved economics as expenses for cysts and weaning diets can be reduced.  相似文献

In order to understand growth features of pearl oysters in the genus Pinctada, i.e. Pinctada fucata, Pinctada margaritifera, and Pinctada sugillata in Taiwan, a total of 3062 wild individuals of these species from juvenile to adult were collected monthyly from March 2001 to April 2002 in Jukeng, Pingtung County, south-west Taiwan. Quantitative measurements of live oysters were conducted for shell height (SH), shell length (SL), shell width (SW), hinge length (HL), and wet weight (WW). Different cohorts were identified through multiple length frequency analysis on SH of P. fucata and P. margaritifera, and growth curves with seasonal variation were estimated for these species. Pinctada fucata in Taiwan had a different seasonal growth pattern from the Japanese population, but had similar growth rates during the high growth period. The growth rate of P. margaritifera in Taiwan was slower than in French Polynesia, the Solomon Islands, and the Red Sea. Comparisons of morphological growth features among the three species show large differences in the SW-related features. Pinctada fucata in Taiwan had larger SW than in Japan and Korea. The differences in growth rates and morphological features suggested that the wild Taiwanese oysters may retain genetically pristine characteristics, thus genetic conservation might be urgently needed.  相似文献

The development of efficient feed management strategies in shrimp farming involves the investigation of aspects related to time of feed distribution, feeding rates, feeding frequency, and feed dispersal methods. This work examined the feeding levels of Penaeus subtilis in response to food dispersal method under semi-intensive culture conditions. The study consisted of two treatments: 1) a uniform feed dispersal over the culture area, and 2) concentration of feed in 0.2-m2 circular feeding trays. For each, three 105-m2 rectangular enclosures were installed in a single shrimp grow-out pond and stocked with P. subtilis at a density of 14.29 postlarvae/m2. Shrimp were fed daily at 0600, 0930 and 1430 h and sampled 30 min after feed distribution at 12-d intervals. After collection, shrimp weight was determined, their stomachs dissected and weighed. A total of 2,160 stomachs of P. subtilis were collected during a 89-d rearing cycle. Relative occurrence of artificial versus natural food in stomach contents was determined by stable carbon isotope mass spectrometry. Density of polychaetes in the substrate was monitored at each sampling period. After harvest, sediment samples were collected for physical and chemical analyses. In general, differences in shrimp growth between feeding methods were not significant. Final shrimp survival rates were between 69.0 ± 6.9% and 71.9 ± 3.7%. Stomach content weight of P. subtilis was significantly higher when feed was broadcast than for feed concentration. Average stomach content weight remained constant throughout the rearing cycle, although progressive increases in feed Occurrence were detected in P. subtilis diet. No periodicity in food intake along sampling periods could be related to increases in shrimp carapace length. Food intake was significantly lower at 0600 h than at 1430 h and at 0930 h, respectively. In both treatments, over half of the food contained in the stomach contents of shrimp was derived from artificial food. Sediment chemical analysis indicated statistically lower levels of sodium in the pond bottom of concentrated treatment. However, no short-term detrimental effects were detected on sediment chemical quality. Results indicated that feed broadcasting resulted in a greater access and a higher consumption of food among the cultured shrimp population, a lower number of empty stomachs, and a greater occurrence of artificial food in P. subtilis stomach contents.  相似文献

We investigated effects of a continuous and three diel feeding regimes on food consumption, growth and gonad production of cultured Strongylocentrotus intermedius of three size classes. There was no significant difference of food consumption, body weight and gonad production between nocturnal and diurnal feeding regimes of S. intermedius of all size classes, greatly challenging the old paradigm on the diel feeding preference of cultured S. intermedius. The continuous and three diel intermittent feeding regimes did not significantly affect body weight of sea urchins of all size classes. However, sea urchins in the large and small size classes which were fed continuously had significantly higher gonad wet weight and gonad index than those fed intermittently. Gonad of sea urchins in the medium size class did not change with feeding regime. The present study increases our understanding of the feeding behavior of cultured S. intermedius, with a potential of direct application in aquaculture.  相似文献

Compensatory growth following stress is a strategy aquatic animals use to adjust themselves to a variable environment. Studies on the recovery growth of aquatic animals are not only of theoretical value in ecophysiology and evolution, but also important to applications in aquaculture and fisheries resource management. In this experiment, juvenile Fenneropenaeus chinensis with an initial average body weight of about 3.72 g were exposed to hypoxic water (about 2.08 and 3.11 mg/l of dissolved oxygen (DO) content) for 10 days and then switched to normoxic water (about 5.63 and 5.59 mg/l DO). Compared with juveniles in normoxia, juveniles in the hypoxia period allocated a greater proportion of energy to metabolism and exuviations but allocated less energy to daily metabolism per gram shrimp weight (J/g/day). This reduced feed conversion efficiency and feeding rate. Finally, F. chinensis suffered growth depression. The juveniles completely compensated for hypoxia-induced growth depression in 30 days after being switched into normoxic water and the compensation was achieved mainly by hyperphagia and slightly by improvement of feed conversion efficiency. During the recovery period the hypoxic-stressed shrimp showed higher daily metabolic energy (J/g/day) than controls (P < 0.05). Which means the stressed shrimp had more energy for feeding-related activities. So hyperphagia was observed. Energy analysis indicated that F. chinensis improved feed-conversion efficiency mainly by reducing the percentage of energy lost in feces and exuviations. The results showed that short-term non-lethal hypoxia would not affect the growth of juvenile F. chinensis if there were enough time for the stressed shrimp to recover. This suggested F. chinensis was capable of adapting to DO fluctuation to some extent and short-term non-lethal hypoxia would not have an obvious effect on natural, released, and cultured shrimp stock.  相似文献

印度洋中西部水域黄鳍金枪鱼的食性及其季节性变化   总被引:5,自引:2,他引:5  
根据2003年12月至2004年6月及2005年9月至12月在印度洋中西部水域调查所获得的数据,利用两因子列联表及单因子方差分析等统计分析方法,对印度洋中西部水域黄鳍金枪鱼的食物组成及其随月份和体长的变化、摄食强度及食物组成的生态位宽度进行了初步研究.结果表明,印度洋中西部水域黄鳍金枪鱼食物组成包括帆蜥、鲣、鳞鲍、沙丁鱼、鲐鱼、虾、蟹、鱿鱼、章鱼、竹笑鱼及未辨认甲壳类等饵料类群,其中主要食物为鱿鱼、鲐鱼以及蟹.大部分月份黄鳍金枪鱼摄食率相对较高,基本上维持在70%以上;除2月和6月外,其余月份黄鳍金枪鱼饵料种类数更替率均低于50%.各叉长组黄鳍金枪鱼摄食率基本维持在70%以上;当叉长在106~155 cm之间,饵料种类数更替率低于40%.黄鳍金枪鱼摄食强度各月差异显著,但各叉长组摄食强度并不存在显著性差异.各月饱满指数存在显著性差异.黄鳍金枪鱼的食物组成随月份和叉长有明显变化.鱿鱼、鲐鱼和蟹基本上为不同叉长组黄鳍金枪鱼所摄食.黄鳍金枪鱼食物组成各月Shannon-Weiner多样性指数H'波动较大,且存在显著性差异;Pielou均匀度指数J'基本上维持在0.80~1.00之间,但各月间存在显著性差异.印度洋中西部水域黄鳍金枪鱼各叉长组食物组成Shannon-Weiner多样性指数H'变化较大,但在106~145 cm期间相对保持稳定,而Pielou均匀度指数J'波动较大.印度洋中西部黄鳍金枪鱼食物组成各月和各叉长组均存在显著性差异.  相似文献

The effects of feeding three natural frozen diets, grass shrimp (Palaemonetes sp.), crayfish (Procambarus clarkii) and fish (Sardina pilchardus) and two semi-humid artificial diets (based on fish powder) to mature cuttlefish, Sepia officinalis, were analysed. Growth and feeding rates (GR and FR, % BW day−1), food conversions (FC, %), and total protein and lipid composition of the diets were determined. Digestive gland to body weight ratio and absorption efficiency were calculated for each diet. Cuttlefish fed shrimp and crayfish grew larger (1.5 and 1.1% BW day−1, respectively) compared to the other diets. Shrimp promoted the highest FC, followed by crayfish, and sardine. The highest FR was obtained for cuttlefish fed crayfish (8.4% BW day−1). Although both artificial diets were accepted, none produced growth. A positive correlation (r = 0.96) between cuttlefish ingestion rate and digestive gland weight was obtained. Some cannibalism occurred among cuttlefish fed the artificial diets during the last week of the experiment. According to the results obtained, P. clarkii could be used as an alternative prey to shrimp for rearing adult mature (>50 g) S. officinalis.  相似文献

The natural diet of Plagusia dentipes de Haan was studied in Tateyama Bay, Japan, between June 2004 and May 2005. A total of 389 specimens were collected for analysis of stomach content during the period, with sizes ranging between 7.1 and 63.1 mm in carapace width. The major dietary item was rhodophycean algae (mostly articulated coralline algae), which was ingested by 91.8% of the crabs and accounted on average for 55.6% (points) of the volume of stomach contents. Chlorophycean algae (mostly Ulvaceae, 39.1% and 8.1 points) and crustaceans (mostly amphipods, 38% and 3 points) came next in feeding frequency and volume. Minor dietary items also included other algae such as Phaeophyceae and animals such as mollusks (bivalves, gastropods), annelids (polychaetes), other crustaceans (caprellids, isopods), and echinoids. Significant seasonal dietary differences were observed and, in general, the diet in spring contained more food items, particularly more animals, compared to other seasons. Feeding of Rhodophyceae was highest and lowest in winter and summer, respectively. The total volume of food consumed was also lowest in summer and likely reflected reduced availability of the main food item in this season. There were no differences in dietary items between male and female crabs. In conclusion. P. dentipes is a primarily herbivorous crab with incidental or opportunistic feeding on animal items, and it is suggested that seasonal shifts in consumption may be related to growth, molting, and reproductive activity.  相似文献

Outdoor microcosm tanks were used to grow the penaeid blue shrimp, Litopenaeus stylirostris, in Brunei Darussalam. The tanks were cylindrical, free standing fiber glass tanks of 1827 L water holding capacity and had a self-cleaning mechanism. In three eight-week feeding trials, juvenile shrimp of 0.9–4.3 g were stocked at a density of 28 shrimp/m2. At the end of each trial, survival rates exceeded 80%. Growth rates ranged from 1.19 to 2.46 g/week. Water quality remained stable and within suitable ranges for L. stylirostris growth in all trials. The tanks had algae and bacterial floc developing within a few days of starting the trials. Fourteen commercial shrimp feeds, each containing more than 40% crude protein, were tested in the trials. In spite of the presence of natural food organisms, significant feed-related differences among treatments were found in each trial. In conclusion, microcosm tanks support excellent growth and survival of L. stylirostris and are appropriate for conducting trials to evaluate feeds for pond growout.  相似文献

Infectious hypodermal and haematopoietic necrosis virus (IHHNV) was first noted in blue shrimp Litopenaeus stylirostris (Stimpson) in mid-1981. Since that time, at least 12 species of penaeoid shrimp have been reported to be infected with IHHNV. Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone) represents a shrimp species highly refractory to the disease, whereas L. stylirostris was highly susceptible to the disease. Since the beginning of the shrimp farming industry in Ecuador, viral diseases have been observed in L. vannamei and L. stylirostris. Of these, L. vannamei represents ≈ 80% of cultured shrimp. Histopathology, ultrastructure and in situ DNA hybridization confirm the presence and assess the prevalence of IHHNV in pond-reared shrimp, and especially in abnormally small animals of both species. Although IHHNV may be considered enzootic in cultured L. vannamei in Ecuador, we did not find high prevalence (Cowdry A bodies) in specimens of diseased pond shrimp before 1996. From that time to 1998, a higher prevalence of IHHNV has been observed in both species. The epizootic of the IHHNV disease has been related to the oceanographic and climatological conditions caused by El Niño. In addition, it has been suggested that large quantities of wild shrimp post-larvae of both species that were stocked in shrimp farms, infected as latent carriers in 1997, from which the virus could spread to a larger population of these shrimp in 1998.  相似文献

The effect of size and diet on the relative contribution of growth and metabolic turnover to changes in isotopic composition of whiteleg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei was examined by mesocosm experiments. Trough testing different diet types (natural and commercial formulated foods and combinations) and feeding scenarios (satiation, limited‐fed and starvation), we determined the growth (k) and metabolic (m) turnover, rate of isotopic turnover (t50) and isotopic fractionation of N (Δ15N) during different growth stages [from postlarvae (PL20's) to large juveniles], under controlled conditions. Results revealed that L. vannamei is a diet sensitive species with growth and metabolic processes controlled by the quantity (feeding rate) and quality (in terms of C:N) of food. Relative to the total isotopic change (m), the contribution of growth decreased with size shrimp from PL20's to largest juveniles. Metabolic turnover also decreased, but showed an elevated variability. Coefficient k in limited‐fed and starved specimens was lower than those on satiation; m showed the opposite trend. Δ15N values averaged from 0.30‰ to 3.5‰ (1.87 ± 0.87‰) in satiated L. vannamei, but increased to 2.59–3.09 and 3.28–4.81‰ in limited‐fed and starved specimens. Δ15N increased with a diet's C:N, indicating an effect of diet quality on isotopic discrimination and also increased with shrimp size, indicating the influence of the metabolic changes. Variations in Δ15N need to be considered in nutrition studies to estimate correctly the temporal relationship between an organism's isotope ratio and its diet and to analyse the variations of food availability or preferences along a culture cycle.  相似文献

为探讨转vp28蓝藻(Anabaena sp.PCC7120)口服剂对凡纳滨对虾抗白斑综合征病毒能力及其相应的免疫反应,本研究将此口服剂免疫幼虾7 d,再分别通过投喂攻毒和浸泡攻毒,测定其存活率及相应的免疫指标。投喂攻毒和浸泡攻毒的实验组存活率分别为78.8%和83.19%,表明该口服剂能显著增强对虾抗白斑综合征病毒的能力。蓝藻口服剂免疫对虾的酶活性检测结果显示,超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)、酚氧化酶(PO)、过氧化氢酶(CAT)和碱性磷酸酶(AKP)活性在免疫后2 h均有上升趋势,且在48或96 h达到最高值,这表明该口服剂能引起对虾体内酶活性变化。投喂攻毒的对虾酶活性检测结果显示,实验组攻毒后的对虾肝胰腺SOD活性分别比阳性对照组、野生型组、空载体组显著提高42.10%、32.26%和16.04%,且攻毒后的肌肉SOD活性分别比阴性对照组、阳性对照组、野生型组和空载体组略微提高17.70%、11.50%、15.00%以及10.00%。实验组攻毒后的对虾肝胰腺PO、CAT和AKP活性比阳性对照组分别提高12.17%、88.80%和240.07%,比野生型组分别提高21.49%、30.90%和100%;酸性磷酸酶(ACP)活性比阴性对照组略微提高,而在肌肉中各组ACP活性无显著性差异。同时浸泡攻毒组结果与投喂攻毒组具有类似的趋势。浸泡攻毒的实验组CAT和AKP活性显著高于其余处理组,且CAT活性比投喂攻毒更为显著。浸泡攻毒的实验组肝胰腺PO活性显著高于阳性对照组、野生型组和空载体组,而各组肌肉ACP活性无显著性差异。研究表明,转vp28蓝藻口服剂能够增强凡纳滨对虾抗病能力并延缓对虾死亡。转vp28蓝藻PCC7120本身可作为幼虾饵料直接投喂,无需提取纯化,有望大规模应用于对虾养殖产业。  相似文献

Larval rearing of many marine organisms is dependent on the availability of live food. The aim of this study was to optimize larval first feeding for the mud shrimp Upogebia pusilla, by comparing the effectiveness of the two most commonly used live feeds: Brachionus plicatilis and Artemia sp. nauplii. Survival, larval duration, molt synchronism and megalop size were compared using five feeding treatments: Artemia from zoea I to IV (B0), Brachionus during zoea I and Artemia from zoea II to IV (B1), Brachionus during zoea I and II and Artemia during zoea III and IV (B2), Brachionus from zoea I to III and Artemia during zoea IV (B3) and Brachionus from zoea I to IV (B4). The proportion of larvae that reached the megalop stage was 0.00% in treatment B0, 3.33% in treatment B1, 33.33% in treatment B2, 66.67% in treatment B3 and 76.67% in treatment B4. Larvae fed on rotifers until zoea III or zoea IV stages had a higher survival but no differences were found either in time to reach megalop or in megalop size. This study demonstrates that rotifers are essential for the survival and development of U. pusilla early larval stages but that rotifers can be successfully replaced by Artemia nauplii in the zoea IV stage.  相似文献

To simplify the weaning of clownfish Amphiprion percula from live food to artificial food, and to reduce the costs of feeding live food, three trials were undertaken to determine the best age for weaning. Twenty-nine-day-old post-hatch A. percula were weaned onto a fishmeal/caesin-based dry food which was an acceptable substitute for either Artemia or a moist food comprising Penaeus indicus and Donax serra. Larvae weaned 4 days after hatch (DAH) had lower survival than fish weaned 7 or 10 DAH. In juveniles weaned from 10 to 30 DAH good survival was obtained between 15 and 20 DAH suggesting that this is a suitable window for the weaning of this species.  相似文献

Many coral reefs are threatened because of anthropogenic impacts such as destructive fishing methods for marine ornamentals. The marine ornamental industry is currently almost completely dependent upon wild collections. The development of commercially feasible methods to culture ornamental species could help to reduce the need for wild‐collected specimens and reduce pressure on coral reefs. Advances in larval rearing and nutrition would help overcome the bottlenecks that impede the commercial production of many marine ornamental species. This article focuses on research for improving the production of the fire shrimp, Lysmata debelius. Experiments were performed with larval fire shrimp to evaluate (1) the importance of essential fatty acid enrichment of live prey (rotifers and Artemia) and (2) feeding penaeid shrimp muscle tissue to improve survival to metamorphosis. We also provide the fatty acid composition of Day‐1 posthatch fire shrimp larvae. The enrichment of live prey with docosahexaenoic acid did not improve larval growth, survival, or time to metamorphosis, but larvae fed live prey together with pureed penaeid shrimp muscle had survival rates of 9.8 ± 1.2%. The data and protocols developed in this study provide a foundation and baseline for future fire shrimp larval studies.  相似文献

Dendronereis spp. (Peters) (Nereididae) is a common polychaete in shrimp ponds built on intertidal land and is natural food for shrimp in traditionally managed ponds in Indonesia. White spot syndrome virus (WSSV), an important viral pathogen of the shrimp, can replicate in this polychaete (Desrina et al. 2013); therefore, it is a potential propagative vector for virus transmission. The major aim of this study was to determine whether WSSV can be transmitted from naturally infected Dendronereis spp. to specific pathogen‐free (SPF) Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone) through feeding. WSSV was detected in naturally infected Dendronereis spp. and Penaeus monodon Fabricius from a traditional shrimp pond, and the positive animals were used in the current experiment. WSSV‐infected Dendronereis spp. and P. monodon in a pond had a point prevalence of 90% and 80%, respectively, as measured by PCR. WSSV was detected in the head, gills, blood and mid‐body of Dendronereis spp. WSSV from naturally infected Dendronereis spp was transmitted to SPF L. vannamei and subsequently from this shrimp to new naïve‐SPF L. vannamei to cause transient infection. Our findings support the contention that Dendronereis spp, upon feeding, can be a source of WSSV infection of shrimp in ponds.  相似文献

海州湾秋季小眼绿鳍鱼的摄食策略及食物选择性   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:1  
基于2011年及2013—2015年秋季在海州湾海域进行底拖网调查数据,通过分析733尾小眼绿鳍鱼(Chelidonichthys spinosus)的胃含物样品,对其食物组成、摄食强度、摄食策略以及食物选择性等摄食生态特征进行初步研究。结果表明,小眼绿鳍鱼摄食饵料生物共有80余种,其中优势饵料种类为细螯虾(Leptochela gracilis)、戴氏赤虾(Metapenaeopsis dalei)、疣背宽额虾(Latreutes planirostris)、双斑蟳(Charybdis bimaculata)、细条天竺鲷(Apogon lineatus)等。聚类分析结果显示,小眼绿鳍鱼的食物组成无明显体长变化。不同体长组小眼绿鳍鱼的空胃率差异不显著(P0.05),平均胃饱满指数差异显著(P0.05)。广义加性模型(GAM)分析表明,底层盐度、底层水温和纬度对小眼绿鳍鱼的摄食强度有显著影响(P0.05),而体长、经度和水深的影响则不显著(P0.05)。摄食策略分析表明,小眼绿鳍鱼是以虾类和鱼类为主要饵料类群的广食性鱼类。通过计算食物选择性指数发现,小眼绿鳍鱼喜食饵料与实际摄食的主要饵料种类存在一定差异,表明其摄食既具有较强的主动选择性,同时又受到海州湾饵料丰度和可获得性等因素的影响。  相似文献

Due to the economic potential of Hypancistrus zebra in the ornamental fish market and its current classification as an endangered species in its natural occurrence sites, the present study sought to determine a suitable feed management strategy and stocking density to allow for an adequate captivity maintenance of this fish species. Three experiments were conducted as follows: (1) feed preference (artemia Artemia sp., shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei, fish Cynoscion spp. or mussel Perna perna); (2) determination of feeding rate (5% and 10% live weight day?1) and frequency (1, 2 or 3 meals. Day?1); and (3) evaluation of stocking density (0.25, 0.50, 1.00 and 2.00 g/L). Zebra pleco did not present the characteristic buccal scraping behaviour on the feed, commonly seen in other Loricariids. Artemia was the preferred diet followed by fish, shrimp and mussels. The frequency of two daily meals and the feeding rate of 10% live weight day?1 allowed for an improved zootechnical performance. Zebra pleco showed enhanced specific growth rate at the density of 2 g/L. Our results suggest that, to improve the zebra pleco rearing conditions, it should be maintained at a density of 2 g/L, fed two daily meals at a feeding rate of 10% live weight day?1. These findings correspond to useful information for an adequate management of this species and could assist in the supply of healthy specimens to the ornamental fish market as well for the restocking of declining wild populations.  相似文献
