A market basket study was conducted to measure residues of the insecticide chlorpyrifos in samples of apples, applesauce, apple juice, fresh orange juice, tomatoes, peanut butter, whole milk, ground beef, and pork sausage collected during a 12-month period from 200 grocery stores across the United States. Approximately 90% of the samples contained no detectable levels of chlorpyrifos, and all residues detected were below tolerances, the legal limits for the United States. No values greater than the limit of quantitation (LOQ) were found in applesauce (LOQ = 0.008 ppm), apple juice (LOQ = 0.003 ppm), whole milk (LOQ = 0.006 ppm), ground beef (LOQ = 0.005 ppm), or pork sausage (LOQ = 0.007 ppm) samples. Only one fresh orange juice sample contained residues greater than the LOQ at 0.015 ppm. Only about 20% of the apples (maximum = 0.052 ppm), 20% of the tomato samples (maximum = 0.058 ppm), and 50% of the peanut butter samples (maximum = 0.021 ppm) contained quantifiable residues.

A method for the determination of total sulfite in shrimp, potatoes, dried pineapple, and white wine by flow injection analysis (FIA) was collaboratively studied by 8 laboratories. In the method, the sample solution is reacted with sodium hydroxide to liberate aldehyde-bound sulfite. The sample stream is acidified to produce SO2 gas, which diffuses across a Teflon membrane in the gas diffusion cell into a flowing stream of malachite green. The degree of discoloration of the malachite green is proportional to the amount of sulfite in the sample solution. Red wine was included in the study but interlaboratory precision for these samples was not satisfactory and correlation with Monier-Williams results was poor. The present method is not recommended for use with these samples. For shrimp, potatoes, dried pineapple, and white wine, average reproducibility (RSDR) of results was 25% for samples at 10 ppm SO2 and 10% for samples at greater than 50 ppm. Overall average reproducibility was 14%. Recoveries of sulfite added to samples averaged 80%. Comparison of FIA with the Monier-Williams method indicated comparable results by the 2 methods. The FIA method has been adopted official first action for determination of greater than or equal to 5 ppm total sulfite in shrimp, potatoes, dried pineapple, and white wine.  相似文献

Twenty-six collaborators participated in a study to evaluate an atomic absorption spectrophotometric (AAS) method for the determination of tin in canned foods. The 5 foods evaluated were meat, pineapple juice, tomato paste, evaporated milk, and green beans, each spiked at 2 levels. The concentration range of tin in the samples was 10-450 micrograms/g, and each level was sent as a blind duplicate. Statistical treatment of results revealed no laboratory outliers and 6 individual or replicate-total outliers, accounting for 3.3% of the data. Repeatability (within-laboratory) coefficient of variation (CVo) ranged from 2.2 to 48%, depending on the tin level and food evaluated. For samples containing greater than or equal to 80 micrograms/g of tin, repeatability CV averaged 5.6% including outliers and 3.7% after their rejection. Overall among-laboratories coefficient of variation (CVx) varied from 3.3 to 58%; at levels greater than or equal to 80 micrograms/g, it averaged 7.3% with outliers and 5.3% after their rejection. Recovery of tin, based on spiking levels, ranged from 100.0 to 112.8% and averaged 105.4%. Detection limit range is 2-10 micrograms/g, and lower quantitation limit is 40 micrograms/g. This method has been adopted official first action.  相似文献

The effectiveness of pineapple juice in enzymatic browning inhibition was evaluated on the cut surface of banana slices. After storage of banana slices at 15 degrees C for 3 days, pineapple juice showed browning inhibition to a similar extent as 8 mM ascorbic acid but less than 4 mM sodium metabisulfite. Fractionation of pineapple juice by a solid-phase C18 cartridge revealed that the directly eluted fraction (DE fraction) inhibited banana polyphenol oxidase (PPO) about 100% when compared to the control. The DE fraction also showed more inhibitory effect than 8 mM ascorbic acid in enzymatic browning inhibition of banana puree during storage at 5 degrees C for 24 h. Further identification of the DE fraction by fractionation with ion exchange chromatography and confirmation using model systems indicated that malic acid and citric acid play an important role in the enzymatic browning inhibition of banana PPO.  相似文献

The objective of this research was to study the residual levels of benomyl, methyl parathion, diuron, and vamidothion in pineapple bagasse and pulp. Benomyl (benlate), methyl parathion (Folidol 600), diuron (Krovar), and Vamidothion (Kilval 300) were applied pre-harvest to pineapples (smooth cayenne). After harvesting, the fruits were washed (100 ppm sodium hypochlorite) and the pulp was separated from the sub-products (peel, core, tops, and tails). The pulp was not submitted to any heat treatment. The sub-products and the juice expressed from them, were submitted to a blanching process (95 degrees C for 1 min). After separating the juice, the bagasse and pulp were analyzed for residues of diuron and benomyl by high performance liquid chromatography, and for residues of vamidothion and methyl parathion by gas chromatography using a TSD detector. No residues of benomyl, diuron, vamidothion, or methyl parathion were detected in the pulp within the quantification limits of the methods (0.1 mg/kg, 0.1 mg/kg, 0.005 mg/kg, and 0.005 mg/kg, respectively). Only methyl parathion (0.052 mg/kg) and vamidothion (0.021 mg/kg) were detected in the bagasse. The presence of these residues in the bagasse was probably due to the action of the wax found in the peel, which prevented the methyl parathion and vamidothion from dissolving in the juice. According to these results, the pulp was fit for human consumption, as far as pesticide residues were concerned, and the bagasse was fit for animal feed and similar applications, because the residual levels found were below the limits established for these compounds.  相似文献

The results of a 5-laboratory collaborative determination of residues of the synthetic pyrethroid insecticide fenvalerate in tomato products are presented. Tomatoes from plants treated in the field at 2-4 day intervals (13 foliar applications) were processed into chopped fresh tomatoes, canned quarters, juice, paste, and the by-product skins plus seeds. Gas chromatographic analysis of the commodities for fenvalerate showed the fresh produce to contain 0.26 ppm, and the skins plus seeds contained 1.9 ppm. Residues were barely detectable in canned peeled quarters and juice, but averaged 0.12 ppm for paste, the concentration product of juice. High residues were associated with the skin content of the product. Five laboratories using modifications of the same analytical technique obtained good collaborative agreement.  相似文献

A liquid chromatographic (LC) method is described for determination of spiramycin residues in chicken muscles. The drug is extracted from muscles with acetonitrile, the extract is concentrated to 3-4 mL and rinsed with n-hexane followed by ethyl ether, and the drug is extracted with chloroform. LC analysis is carried out on a Zorbax BP-C8 column, and spiramycin is detected spectrophotometrically at 231 nm. Recoveries of spiramycin added to chicken muscles at 0.2 and 0.1 ppm were 93.9 and 89.0%, respectively. The detection limit was 5 ng for spiramycin standard, and 0.05 ppm in chicken muscles.  相似文献

A liquid chromatograph was interfaced to an atomic absorption spectrometer for the detection and quantitation of maduramicin in feed matrixes at the 1-8 ppm level. Ionophores in general form strong 1:1 products with various metal cations, yielding complexes that are insoluble in water but very soluble in organic solvents. Maduramicin, a carboxylic, polyalcohol, polyether antibiotic, is labeled with the sodium cation and analyzed by atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). The lower limit of detection is approximately 100-200 ng maduramicin sodium salt. Feeds containing 1-8 ppm maduramicin are extracted with acetone, the extract is passed through an alumina column, the column is eluted with acetonitrile-water (90 + 10), and the eluate is analyzed for maduramicin by liquid chromatography-AAS after concentration and conversion of maduramicin to the sodium salt. Recoveries of maduramicin averaged 89.5%. Liquid chromatography with AAS detection has been shown to be a sensitive and highly specific technique for the determination of ionophores in general and maduramicin in particular.  相似文献

A method for the determination of polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) in dairy products is described. Fat is extracted from the products by the official AOAC method. The PBB residues are separated from the fatty material by gel permeation chromatography prior to gas-liquid chromatographic (GLC) quantitation. An additional cleanup using petroleum ether elution through a miniature Florisil column is necessary for thin layer chromatographic (TLC) confirmation. Recoveries of PBBs from samples fortified at levels from 0.1 to 0.5 ppm ranged from 94 to 104% with an average of 99%. GLC sensitivity permits the estimation of PBB residue levels as low as 0.007 ppm. Routine TLC confirmation is limited by sensitivity to greater than or equal to 0.2 ppm.  相似文献

Headspace volatiles of Yihchuan aromatic rice, a japonica rice cultivar, were extracted by a solid‐phase microextraction (SPME) method and analyzed by GC and GC‐MS. Effects of fiber types and an industrial milling process on the change of headspace volatiles were studied. Of the fiber types, divinylbenzene/carboxen/polydimethylsiloxane (DVB/CAR/PDMS), polydimethylsiloxane/divinylbenzene (PDMS/DVB), and carboxen/polydimethylsiloxane (CAR/PDMS) were suggested for use in the analysis headspace volatiles in terms of absorption or adsorption ability. Regarding the milling effect, the amount of total headspace volatiles from brown rice to white rice decreased ≈30%, and that of aldehydes and alcohols, the two largest groups of volatiles, decreased ≈20 and 15%, respectively. Comparatively, rice bran contained higher amounts of total headspace volatiles than milled rice grains.  相似文献

The results of a cooperative study on the determination of lead in evaporated milk, using a double blind referee technique, are reported. This study was designed to determine the normal variability of methods currently used for lead analysis by canned food industry laboratories. Twenty-three laboratories participated in this study. Each laboratory was instructed to use atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AOAC 25.065), anodic stripping voltammetry, or carbon rod atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Overall, the results appear to be in close agreement with the spiking levels. The coefficient of variation for all laboratories was 36.0% at the 0.15 ppm lead level and 16.8% at the 0.40 ppm lead level.  相似文献

Liquid chromatographic determination of carbadox residues in animal feed   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
A liquid chromatographic (LC) method for determining residues of carbadox in the 0.01-10 ppm range in swine feed is described. Carbadox is extracted from ground feed with 25% acidified methanol-CHCl3, removed from emulsion-forming coextractables via an alumina column, separated from highly colored pigments by acid-base liquid-liquid partitioning, and finally isolated from interferences on a second alumina column. Isocratic reverse phase LC at 305 nm is used for quantitation. The average overall recovery at the 0.1, 0.5, and 1.0 ppm spike levels was 83.0% with a standard deviation of 2.04% and a coefficient of variation of 2.46%.  相似文献

A method is described for determining substituted urea herbicides in foods. The residues are extracted from the product with methanol, and the food coextractives are removed by using solvent partitioning and Florisil column chromatography. The extract is analyzed using liquid chromatography with postcolumn photodegradation, chemical derivatization with orthophthalaldehyde, and spectrofluorometry. Recoveries were determined by spiking 8 different food products with 6 phenylureas--chlorbromuron, chloroxuron, diuron, fluometuron, linuron, and metobromuron--at 0.05 and 0.5 ppm. Three determinations were made at each level for each product. Average recovery at 0.05 ppm was 95% (with a standard deviation of 7.9%), and at 0.5 ppm, 98% (with a standard deviation of 6.9%).  相似文献

Abstract

Methods are proposed for the determination of cadmium in soils, plants and fertilizers.

Soil is first dissolved by treatment with hydrofluoric and hydrochloric acids and plant material is digested with nitric‐perchloric‐sulphuric acids. The cadmium is then extracted from the resulting solutions as the dithizone complex. After destruction of the dithizone the cadmium is dissolved in dilute hydrochloric acid and determined by atomic absorption spectroscopy. Cadmium in phosphatic fertilizers is determined directly by atomic absorption measurement on hydrochloric acid digests of the fertilizer.

The proposed methods have precision adequate for the study of cadmium in soil‐plant systems, the limits of detection being: plant material, 0.004 ppm Cd; soils, 0.02 ppm; and phosphatic fertilizers, 1 ppm.  相似文献

A method has been developed for the simultaneous analysis of 2,4-D (2,4-dichlorophenoxy-acetic acid), dicamba (2-methoxy-3,6-dichloro-benzoic acid), and mecoprop (MCPP; 2-[(4-chloro-o-tolyl) oxy] propionic acid) residues in soil, wheat, and barley. Soil and crop samples are extracted with acidic acetone and methanol, respectively. The extracts in diethyl ether are esterified with diazomethane and cleaned up by passing through a Florisil column. Extracts are analyzed by gas-liquid chromatography, using an electron capture detector to determine 2,4-D and dicamba residues. Mecoprop in the extract is not detected at low levels of concentration. However, bromination of the extract increases the response of the electron capture detector to mecoprop. The method is sensitive to about 0.05 ppm 2,4-D and dicamba and 0.5 ppm mecoprop. Recoveries of these 3 herbicides added to soil, wheat, and barley samples at 0.05, 0.1, 0.5, and 1.0 ppm levels were between 65 and 93%. The method was used for the simultaneous analysis of 2,4-D, dicamba, and mecoprop residues in wheat, barley, and soil samples obtained from fields sprayed with the herbicide formulation Kil-Mor.  相似文献

A rapid LC-MS method, which compares different mass analyzers-single quadrupole, ion trap, and triple quadrupole-was developed for the quantitative determination of isopropyl thioxanthone (ITX) in fruit juices. ITX, a photoinitiator in UV-cured inks that can reach foods from the cartons for beverages in which they are used, was extracted from fruit juice samples with acetone/hexane (50:50) using pressurized liquid extraction. This method gave detection limits of 3, 3, and 0.01 microg/L and quantification limits of 10, 10, and 0.05 microg/L using single quadrupole, ion trap, and triple quadrupole, respectively. Five replicate fortifications of different fruit juices at the quantification limit gave recoveries oscillating between 68 and 72% with CV varying between 14 and 18%. This is the first report of a positive mass spectrometric identification and quantification of ITX in fruit juice samples packed in TetraPack. The sensitivity and specificity of the LC-MS/MS analysis using the triple quadrupole enables it to be the method of choice for risk assessment and monitoring. The method was applied to apricot, orange, peach, apple, grape and pineapple, and cherry and strawberry juices and to fruit nectars from Spain and Italy, and the ITX was detected in the range of 0.05-0.78 microg/L.  相似文献

A liquid chromatographic (LC) method is described for determination of olaquindox residues in swine tissues. The drug is extracted from tissues with acetonitrile, and the extract is evaporated to dryness. This residue is cleaned up by alumina column chromatography. LC analysis is carried out on a Nucleosil C18 column, and olaquindox is quantitated by ultraviolet detection at 350 nm. The average recoveries of olaquindox added to tissues at levels of 0.2, 0.1, and 0.05 ppm were 74.0, 68.6, and 66.3%, respectively. The detection limit was 2 ng for olaquindox standard and 0.02 ppm in tissues.  相似文献
