Five cycles of phenotypic recurrent selection for increased essential oil content were carried out in East Indian lemongrass, Cymbopogon flexuosus. In each cycle, the top 5% of plants for essential oil content were selected and their ramets were planted in isolated polycross blocks to produce the seed of the next cycle. Response to selection for essential oil content and its effect on three unselected traits, leaf yield, dry matter content in leaves and citral content in the essential oil, were determined by evaluating C0‐C5 populations in a replicated trial. Genetic variation, heritability estimates and intertrait correlations for essential oil content, leaf yield, leaf width, tiller number and citral content in the essential oil in C4 were determined, by evaluating 40 clones and their half‐sib progenies produced from 40 randomly selected C4 plants, in a replicated experiment. These were compared with those determined in C0 earlier. The mean essential oil content increased from 0.66% in C0 to 1.67% in C5 (i.e. by about 31% per cycle over C0). Selection for essential oil content did not affect leaf yield and its effect on dry matter content in leaves was marginal. The first three cycles of selection for essential oil content did not affect citral content in the oil but two further cycles significantly decreased citral content. Heritabilities and intertrait correlations between all traits studied, except citral content and essential oil content, were similar to those found in C0.  相似文献

Summary Phenotypic recurrent selection was carried out for oil content in East Indian lemongrass, Cymbopogon flexuosus (Steud) Wats. In each cycle, the top 5% of plants for oil content were selected. Their ramets were used for the establishment of replicated polycross blocks in isolation. Realized gains from selection were determined by evaluating the populations and the best clones from each population in separate two-year replicated trials. Three cycles of recurrent selection increased oil content by 32% per cycle at the population level. Realized gains from selection were slightly smaller or similar to predicted gains. Mean realized heritability for oil content was 0.56. At the clonal level, the best C1 and the best C2 clones had, respectively, a 22% and 73% higher oil content than the best clone from the base population (C0). Selection for oil content did not adversely affect leaf yield, dry matter content or citral content in oil. Probable reasons for the high response to selection are mentioned.  相似文献

Summary One hundred random oat (Avena sativa L.) lines from a base (C0) and each of three populations (C1, C2, and C3) improved for groat (caryopsis) oil content by phenotypic recurrent selection were evaluated for correlated changes in several unselected agronomic traits. In addition, the parents of the base population and four check varieties were evaluated for the same traits. Phenotypic recurrent selection for high groat-oil content resulted in no significant correlated response in mean expression of any trait. Mean grain yield, biomass, groat yield, and harvest index of the improved populations were equal or superior to the mean of the parents and, with the exception of harvest index, equivalent to the mean of the check varieties. Mean test weight and seed weight of all populations were lower than for parents or check varieties. Selection for high groat-oil content caused a decline in genotypic variance for test weight and groat fraction, but reductions in genotypic variance for heading date and plant height may have resulted from culling for good agronomic type. Broad-sense heritability remained moderate to high for all traits except groat fraction. Phenotypic and genotypic correlation coefficients revealed negative, though mostly nonsignificant, relationships between groat-oil content and several traits, which may reflect a purported bioenergetic limitation to increasing groat-oil content in oats. Oil yield, however, was positively correlated with grain and groat yield, groat fraction, biomass, and harvest index. Results suggest that development of high-oil oat cultivars with current levels of production traits via phenotypic recurrent selection is possible.Journal Paper no. 以远杂9102×中花5号杂交后代衍生的重组近交系F8代家系为材料,在含油量测试的基础上,选用10份低油材料(平均含油量52.91%)、12份高油材料(平均含油量58.85%)以及亲本进行SSR引物筛选,通过631对SSR引物扩增,筛选出来源于7对引物的13个有显著差异的片段可以有效区分低油材料和高油材料。以这7对差异引物在F8 RIL群体中扩增,对20份低油家系材料(含油量<55%)和45份高油家系材料(含油量>56%)进行统计分析,获得1个与花生含油量相关的分子标记2A5-250/240,其中,标记2A5-250为低油材料(含油量<55%)所拥有,相符率为95.0%,标记2A5-240为高油材料(含油量>56%)所拥有,相符率为88.9%。用SSR标记2A5-250/240检测11份高油(平均含油量为55.93%)栽培种花生和11份低油(平均含油量为48.41%)栽培种花生,结果表明,标记2A5-240与高油栽培种花生的符合率为63.6%,2A5-250与低油栽培种花生的符合率为90.9%。在19份高油(平均含油量为58.60%)野生花生中,10份野生花生能检测到标记2A5-240。综合分析RIL群体和自然群体的研究结果表明,标记2A5-250/240可用于花生含油量分子标记辅助选择。  相似文献

Peanuts ( Arachis hypogaea L.) which are commonly grown in intercropping systems often suffer from shading caused by the associated crop. Through this study an attempt has been made to estimate the effect of different levels of shade at different growth stages on crop yield. Field experiments were laid out during monsoon and winter seasons of 1985 and 1986 by creating artificial shading up to 25 and 50 per cent of the day/natural light at flowering-pegging, pod filling and maturity stages of a Spanish bunch type peanut. Dry matter production has shown linear response to light intensity and due to 50 per cent shading it was reduced by 55 per cent. Vegetative growth rate during pod filling stage was very poor as a result of increase in shading at this stage. In shaded plants the nodulation was less and some reduction in chlorophyll content was also observed. However, oil content in kernel was not affected by shading. Shading caused significant reduction in pod number and kernel weight and thus there was decrease in pod yield. Flowering to pegging and pod filling stages seemed to be sensitive to shading while increase in shading at maturity stage did not cause any reduction in yield. It could be possible to obtain about 90 per cent pod yield by avoiding shading during flowering to pegging stage (45 DAS).  相似文献

An experiment with squash ( Cucurbita pepo L.) was conducted at the University of Jordan Research Station, located in the Jordan Valley in Jordan during the 1984 and 1985/86 seasons. Its objectives were to determine the effects of different plastic mulch using drip irrigation on soil temperature, root growth distribution, and production dates, Earliness in picking dates under mulch was obtained during the relatively warm 1985/86 season, where picking started 13 days earlier under mulch. Root weights, secondary root lengths, and horizontal root distribution were not significantly different between treatments, during each season. Tap roots were not significantly different between treatments during the 1984 season, yet those under transparent mulch were significantly higher (5% level) from those under bare soil conditions, during the 1985/86 season. Density of plant canopy influenced mulching effect on soil temperature. High plant canopy under mulch prevented solar radiation from increasing soil temperature. Whereas, higher soil temperature was obtained under non-mulched conditions when compared to the mulched ones. This was most probably due to relatively low vegetative cover.  相似文献

Self‐incompatibility is one of the most effective approaches to utilizing heterosis in oilseed rape around the world. To evaluate the heterosis of double low self‐incompatibility, the possibility of combining seed yield and oil content, and the genetic effects of parents on their hybrid progenies, a 2‐year field trial using a 3 × 22 NC II mating design was conducted during the 1999‐2001 growing seasons in Wuhan, China. Significant differences in seed yield per plant and seed oil content were observed among the F1 hybrids and between F1 progenies and their parents. However, the heterosis for seed yield per plant was much greater than that for seed oil content. Mid‐parent heterosis and high‐parent heterosis of seed yield per plant ranged from 5.50 to 64.11% and from –2.81 to 46.02%, while those of seed oil content ranged from –1.55 to 7.44% and –3.61 to 6.55%, respectively. Non‐additive genetic effects were a major mechanism that accounted for the yield heterosis in addition to additive effects. In contrast, seed oil content heterosis was mainly dependent on an additive genetic effect. General combining ability (GCA) determined the stability of hybrid cultivars. In hybrid breeding, parental materials might be selected by the sum of GCAs and variances of special combining abilities (SCAs) of female and male parents for traits affected by both additive and non‐additive effects, and by the sum of GCAs of two parents for traits controlled mainly by additive effects. Primary branches and their siliques were the most important yield traits.  相似文献

Few studies have examined the effects of selection for high oil or protein content on the chemical composition of cereal seeds. This study was conducted to examine agronomic and bioenergetic consequences that result with changes in the chemical composition of groats of oat (Avena sativa L.). Oat lines with low and high groat-oil content (GO) and with low and high groat-protein content (GP) were chosen from each of five cycles of a recurrent selection program for increasing GO and from each of four cycles of a recurrent selection program for increasing protein yield via elevating GP, respectively. These lines were evaluated at three Iowa locations in 1988. The results indicated that GP was not significantly affected by selection for high GO and that GO significantly increased during selection for high protein yield via elevating GP. Both selection procedures resulted in oat lines with higher groat-energy contents. A bioenergetic cost analysis showed that for GO in the oil population and GP in the protein population to be increased, additional photosynthate needed to be available.  相似文献

Chinese semi-winter rapeseed is genetically diverse from European winter rapeseed. Our objectives were (1) to evaluate the potential of semi-winter rapeseed for winter rapeseed hybrid breeding, (2) to assess the relative importance of general combining ability (GCA) vs. specific combining ability (SCA) among combinations between Chinese semi-winter and European winter rapeseed, and (3) to compare the strategies to predict heterosis based on parental genetic distance (GD) estimated from AFLP marker data and GCA for hybrid performance. Four winter male sterile lines from Germany as testers were crossed with 14 Chinese semi-winter rapeseed lines to develop 56 hybrids, which were evaluated together with their parents and commercial hybrids for seed yield, oil content and protein content under three environments in Germany. The Chinese parental lines were not adapted to local environmental conditions as demonstrated by lacking winter hardiness and poor seed yields per se . However, the hybrids between the Chinese parents and the adapted winter rapeseed lines exhibited high heterosis for seed yield. About 20% of the hybrids were significantly superior to the respective hybrid control under three environments. Additive gene effects mainly contributed to hybrid performance since the variance components of GCA were higher as compared with SCA. The correlation between parental GD and hybrid performance was found to be low whereas the correlation between GCA and hybrid performance was high and significant, with correlation coefficients of 0.95 for seed yield, 0.87 for oil content, and 0.91 for protein content, indicating that GCA can predict hybrid performance. These results demonstrate that Chinese semi-winter rapeseed germplasm has a great potential to increase seed yield in winter rapeseed hybrid breeding programmes in Europe.  相似文献

Patchouli (Pogostemon patchouli) is an important, exclusively vegetatively propagated aromatic plant, whose essential oil is widely used in perfumery and cosmetic products. Forty SC1 generation (first generation following in vitro phase) somaclones selected randomly from about 400 somaclones developed from the variety Johore, were multiplied through stem cuttings and evaluated in SC2 and SC3 generations to study the extent of somaclonal variation generated for plant height, herb yield, essential oil content, essential oil yield, and seven constituents of the essential oil. Significant or highly significant somaclonal variation was observed for plant height, herb yield, essential oil content, essential oil yield, and contents of patchouli alcohol, α-guaiene, α,δ-patchoulene, and α-bulnesene in the essential oil. The number of somaclones significantly superior to the parental variety for plant height, herb yield, essential oil content, and patchouli alcohol content in the essential oil ranged from 8–16 and the maximum superiority over the parental variety for these traits ranged from 21–79%. Broad-sense heritability estimates of plant height, herb yield, and essential oil content were 0.60–0.70 while those of essential oil yield and patchouli alcohol content were 0.44 and 0.47, respectively. Heritability estimates of other studied essential oil constituents were generally low (0.12–0.38). A high positive correlation was observed between essential oil yield and herb yield suggesting that selection for herb yield would be effective in improving essential oil yield. Patchouli alcohol content in the essential oil was negatively correlated with all the studied traits. Somaclonal variation, heritabilities of traits, and inter-trait correlations are reported for the first time in patchouli.  相似文献

Mapping QTLs for kernel oil content in a tropical maize population   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6  
Maize cultivars often have low kernel oil content. To increase the oil content, efficient maize breeding programs have to be developed, which require the knowledge of the inheritance of this trait. Thus, the objective of this research was to map quantitative trait locus (QTLs) and estimate their effects for kernel oil content in a tropical maize population. Two maize inbred lines, contrasting for kernel oil content, were used to develop an F2 population. Four hundred and eight F2 plants were self-pollinated, and their kernels (F2:3 progenies) were used for kernel oil evaluation. A genetic map with 75 microsatellites was developed, and the QTLs were mapped using the composite interval map (CIM); also, estimates of genetic and phenotypic variances, and heritability coefficient were computed. The map presented 10 linkage groups, spanned 1,438.6 cM in length with an average interval of 19.18 cM between adjacent markers. The kernel oil content averaged 58.40 g kg–1, and the broad-sense heritability was high (h2= 0.98). Thirteen QTLs were mapped, which were distributed into eight chromosomes, and explained 26.64% of the genetic variation. QTLs in chromosomes 1, 5, and 6 contributed the most for kernel oil content. Nine out of 13 QTLs with favorable alleles were from the parental inbred with the highest kernel oil content. The average level of dominance was partial, but gene action of the QTLs ranged from additive to overdominance. Eight out of 13 mapped QTLs were already reported for temperate maize populations.  相似文献

A steady and progressive increase in rapeseed yield was observed with each increment in applied nitrogen rates up to 213 kg/ha in both seasons. As for nitrogen application times, the analyzed data showed that adding a split dose (either 1/2 or 1/3) before the third irrigation was a common part between high yielding treatments in 1985/86 season. Nitrogen rates X application times interaction affected rapeseed yield significantly during the first winter season. The highest seed yield of 2.5 t/ha was obtained by adding 213 kg N/ha in two split doses at sowing and just before the third irrigation. The second yield value of 2.47 t/ha was produced under the same N rate when applied in two split doses before second and third irrigation. However, in the second season (1986/87), rapeseed plants did not exhibit significant responses to nitrogen rates X application times interaction.
Chemical analyses showed that rapeseed oil content and its fatty acids (Palmetic, Stearic, Oleic, Linoleic, Linolenic, Arachidic and Erucic) percentages were not significantly affected by either nitrogen rates or application times in both seasons. A very low content of Erucic acid (0.1–0.9 %) in all tested sample was noticed.  相似文献

结合大豆育种实际工作,配制低蛋白×低蛋白、低蛋白×高蛋白两种不同类型的大豆杂交组合,对各组合F1代及F2代单株蛋白质、油分含量进行测定分析。结果表明:大豆杂交亲本蛋白质含量对早世代群体蛋白质含量特征有显著的影响,亲本蛋白质含量与早世代群体蛋白质含量表现为正相关,在各杂交组合早世代群体中蛋白质与油分含量均表现为极显著的负相关。根据蛋白质含量具有较高遗传力的特点,预期杂交亲本蛋白质含量性状可以自早世代材料保持到高世代材料而形成稳定品系。  相似文献

Rapeseed oil is marked by, 1 too low content of linoleic acid and a too high, content of linolenic acid to meet the nutritional quality requirements. First mutants with a considerably improved poly en OIL fatty acid (t.a.) pattern were low in vigour and seed yield. The present experiments were set out to analyze their mode of inheritance and to check the hypothesis chat a low linolenic acid content of the thylakoid membranes inhibits sufficiently high yields of such mutants for physiological reasons. Six independently induced mutants transmitted the high linoleic and low (or in one cast high linoleic acid content of their seed oil by one recessive gene: two expressed allele mutated allele in an intermediate fashion. Of six double mutants of various origin, three revealed an independent, additive action of two loci for the changed polyenoic f.a. contents, while in the three others the mutant alleles exerted partial dominance over their plus alleles. One or two backcrosses with productive varieties improved the performance of the mutants stepwise over the original types. It is therefore, concluded that mutations towards the desired polyenoic f.a. convent are not necessarily incompatible with high seed yields, when the responsible genes are transferred into an appropriate genetic background. But strong effects of environment on yield, oil content and polyenoic f.a. content of the mutants were still seen in a yield test of second backcross progenies.  相似文献

为了摸清黑腹绒鼠种群组成及种群数量变动规律,给其防治提供科学依据。对1984-2012年贵州省凯里市历年鼠情系统监测资料分析。结果表明:黑腹绒鼠主要栖息于稻田、旱地耕作区,占总鼠数的6.60%,为当地常见鼠种之一;稻田、旱地耕作区平均捕获率为0.42%,不同月份种群数量波动较大,全年种群数量在5—6月和9—11月出现2个数量高峰,平均捕获率分别为0.50%~0.53%和0.43%~0.54%,呈典型的双峰型曲线。说明不同年度、季节种群数量存在显著差异,不同地区之间种群数量季节变化存在一定差异。每年4月和8月为当地该鼠的最佳防治时期。  相似文献

三个高蛋白与三个高脂肪品种进行完全双列杂交,研究以籽仁重、蛋白质和脂肪含量为主的15个性状的配合力、遗传相关及杂种优势.结果表明:两种配合力的方差分析F值均达显著标准,但加性效应占主要优势,总配合力与杂种实际表现高度相关.郑71—3是高产高脂肪的理想亲本,奇科可作为高蛋白材料加以利用.在性状间相关中,蛋白与脂肪为显著负相关,但二者与籽仁产量呈弱的正、负相关,有利高产高油分和高产高蛋白品系的选育.花生杂种一代有明显优势,但营养生长性状、结实性状和脂肪含量趋向高亲,而出仁率、百仁重和蛋白含量趋向低亲.  相似文献

The effectiveness of honeycomb pedigree selection (HPS) as compared to conventional pedigree selection (CPS) was studied in one intraspecific (G. hirsutum L. × G. hirsutum L.) cross population (population I) and one interspecific (G. hirsutum L. × G. barbadense L.) cross population (population II). Combined selection for yield and lint quality traits was applied for four cycles at two locations for population I and atone location for population II. Finally, the best F6 lines derived by each method, together with the unselected population derived by single seed descent (SSD) and three check cultivars, were tested in comparative experiments, separately for each cross, at the same locations. In both populations the analysis of variance indicated significant differences among the groups of the material tested for seed cotton yield, mean boll weight, micronaire reading, staple length, and uniformity ratio. No significant differences were found with respect to plant height, lint percentage, and fiber strength in population I and with respect to lint percentage and fiber strength in population II. In population I, on the basis of mean seed cottonyield and number of superior lines derived by each method as compared to the check varieties and the unselected SSD population, HPS-lines were superior to CPS-lines for seedcotton yield, fiber length and boll weight. HPS-lines, however, did not differ significantly in seedcotton yield from the best check cultivar Eva. Finally, the material derived by CPS was earlier in maturity than the material derived by HPS and SSD. Also in population II, on the basis of mean seedcotton yield and number of superior lines derived by each method as compared to the unselected SSD population, HPS-lines were superior to CPS-lines. No significant differences, however, were identified between the material of the two methods for lint quality traits. It was concluded that in both populations HPS was more effective than CPS in identifying lines with high yielding ability and good lint quality. This superiority of HPS is attributed, at least partially, to its effectiveness in early generation selection. Summary Aneuploidy was studied in populations selected for high seed-set with regular meiosis and low-seedset with irregular meiosis and an unselected population of the same origin. The frequency of aneuploids was significantly reduced in the high population that was characterised by increased bivalent frequency. In spite of a similar quadrivalent frequency in euploid plants of the low and the unselected population, the former population had a significantly higher frequency of aneuploids. However, there was no significant difference in the performance of aneuploid plants from the three populations. The results indicated that hyperaneuploid gametes were less functional than hypoaneuploid gametes but no significant difference was found in the performance of hypo- and hyperancuploids.  相似文献
