A new ent-kaurane diterpenoid from Isodon phyllostachys

A new ent-kaurane diterpenoid, phyllostachysin C (1), together with five known compounds, sculponeatins B and C, nodosin, ursolic acid and 2 alpha-hydroxyursolic acid, were isolated from the leaves of Isodon phyllostachys. The structure of 1 was elucidated on the basis of its spectral properties.     

A new ent-kaurane diterpenoid from Rabdosia pseudo-irrorata.

A new kaurenoid, ent-3 beta,7 alpha,14 beta-trihydroxykaur-16-ene-12,15-dione (1), named pseurata G, was isolated from the ethanol extract of the whole plant of Rabdosia pseudo-irrorata.     

A new grayanane diterpenoid from Rhododendron decorum

A new grayanane diterpenoid, 2,3-epoxy-5beta,6beta,10alpha,13beta,16alpha-pentahydroxy-grayanane, named craiobiotoxin IX (1), together with the known grayanotoxins I and IV, was isolated from the aerial part of Rhododendron decorum. The structure was elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic and X-ray diffraction analysis.     

A new irregular diterpenoid from Opopanax chironium

The ethereal extract of the roots of Opopanax chironium yielded peucelinenoxide acetate (1), a new natural product with an irregular diterpene skeleton, besides the known coumarins gaudichaudin, columbianadin, peucedanin and officinalin isobutyrate.     

A new halimane-type diterpenoid from the liverwort Jungermannia infusca

The isolation of 1(10)-halimadien-13xi-ol (1), a new diterpenoid from Jungermannia infusca, is reported.     

Two new diterpenoid acids from Pinus koraiensis

Two new diterpenoid acids were obtained from the traditional Chinese medicinal herb Pinus koraiensis. By spectral evidence, the structure of the new compounds were elucidated as 7-oxo-13beta,15-dihydroxyabiet-8(14)-en-18-oic acid (1) and 7-oxo-12alpha, 13beta,15-trihydroxyabiet-8(14)-en-18-oic acid (2), respectively.

A new kaurenoid, ent-3β,7α,14β-trihydroxykaur-16-ene-12,15-dione (1), named pseurata G, was isolated from the ethanol extract of the whole plant of Rabdosia pseudo-irrorata.     

Crototropone, a new tropone derivative from Croton zehntneri

Crototropone (3-hydroxy-5,6-dimethoxy-2-methylcyclohepta-2,4,6-trien-1-one) was isolated from roots of Croton zehntneri. The structure was established by spectroscopic methods.     

A new flavonol from leaves of Eugenia jambolana

Leaves of Eugenia jambolana yielded the new flavonol, myricetin 3-O-(4"-acetyl)-alpha-L-rhamnopyranoside (1).     

Investigations on the antinociceptive activity of crude extracts from Croton cajucara leaves in mice

The crude leaf extracts of Croton cajucara Benth. were studied for their antinociceptive property in chemical and thermal models of nociception in mice. All the tested extracts (hexanic, chloroformic and methanolic), at oral doses of 100 and 200 mg/kg demonstrated significant inhibition of acetic acid-induced writhing and the second phase response of formalin, but did not manifest a significant effect in hot-plate test.     

A new triterpenoid from the leaves of Salvia triloba

The isolation and NMR spectral data of palestinol, a new triterpenoid from the leaves of Salvia triloba, are reported.     

A new compound from the leaves of Panax ginseng

Two compounds were isolated from the leaves of Panax ginseng. Their structures were identified as 3beta,6alpha,12beta-triol-22,23,24,25,26,27-hexanordammaran-20-one, and dammar-20(22),24-diene-3beta,6alpha,12beta-triol by spectral and chemical methods. The complete signal assignments of the two compounds were carried out by means of 2D NMR spectral analysis.     

A new phenolic glucoside from the leaves of Heliciopsis lobata

A new phenolic glucoside ester, 6'-E-(2'-methyl-2'-butenoyl) arbutin (1), was isolated from the leaves of Heliciopsis lobata. Its structure was elucidated by spectral analysis.     

Cytotoxic and anti-inflammatory ent-kaurane diterpenoids from Isodon wikstroemioides

Seven new ent-kaurane diterpenoids, isowikstroemins A–G (1–7), were isolated from EtOAc extracts of the aerial parts of Isodon wikstroemioides. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analysis. The isolates were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against five human tumor cell lines, and compounds 1–4 exhibited significant activity with IC₅₀ values ranging from 0.9 to 7.0 μM. In addition, compounds 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7 exhibited inhibitory activity against nitric oxide (NO) production in LPS-activated RAW264.7 macrophages.     

A new bicoumarin from the leaves and stems of Triphasia trifolia

A new bicoumarin (3) was isolated from the leaves and stems of Triphasia trifolia. Its structure was determined by spectral data, in particular two-dimensional NMR experiments. It appeared that the two coumarinic moieties of 3 are derivatives of mexoticin (1) and meranzin hydrate (2), which are known constituents of the plant.     

A new diterpene from the leaves of Andrographis paniculata Nees

Phytochemical investigation of the ethanol extract of the leaves of Andrographis paniculata yielded one novel diterpene (13R, 14R) 3, 13, 14, 19-tetrahydroxy-ent-labda-8 (17), 11-dien-16, 15-olide 1 which has an uncommon cis-diol groups in the lactone moiety, and 3, 19-isopropylidene-14-deoxy-ent-labda-8 (17), 13-dien-16, 15-olide 2, probably an artifact diterpene, together with eight known diterpenoids 3–10. The structures of these compounds were determined on the basis of spectral methods. The structure and stereochemistry of 1 was confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analyses.     

HIV-inhibitory diterpenoid from Anisomeles indica.

The 1H- and 13C-NMR spectral data of ovatodiolide (1), a diterpenoid from Anisomeles indica, and its anti-HIV activity are reported.     

Four new neolignans from the leaves of Tripterygium wilfordii

Four new neolignans, wilfordiols A-D (1-4), together with five known compounds (5-9), were isolated from an aqueous extract of the dried leaves of Tripterygium wilfordii. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic methods, including 1D and 2D NMR, HRESIMS, and CD experiments. The anti-inflammation activities of compounds 1-9 were evaluated by the inhibitory effect on NO production, in vitro.     

Isolation and identification of a new anti-inflammatory cyathane diterpenoid from the medicinal fungus Cyathus hookeri Berk

A new cyathane diterpene, named as cyathin I (1), as well as two known cyathane diterpenes (12R)-11a,14a-epoxy-13a,14b,15-trihydroxycyath-3-ene (2) and erinacine I (3), were isolated from the liquid culture of Cyathus hookeri Berk. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis. Compounds 1–3 showed inhibition against nitric oxide production in macrophages with an IC₅₀ value of 15.5, 52.3, and 16.8 μM, respectively.     

Julocrotine, a glutarimide alkaloid from Croton membranaceus

The isolation and spectral data of julocrotin (1), a glutarimide alkaloid from Croton membranaceus are reported.
