Regional estimates of changes in soil organic carbon (SOC) pools during the historical period were obtained according to a unified approach for Kostroma (southern taiga) and Kursk (forest-steppe) oblasts. The potential pools of soil carbon were calculated with due account for the classification position of particular soils, their texture, and the character of natural vegetation. In the estimates of actual SOC pools, land use patterns and the age structure of forest stands were taken into account. It was shown that modern pools of organic carbon in the soils of Kostroma oblast are only 1–2% smaller than the potential pools; for the soils of Kursk oblast, this difference reaches 23–27%. Mean weighted values of the actual SOC contents in these oblasts decreased by 0.1–0.2 and 6.5–7.6 kg C/m2 in comparison with the potential SOC contents, respectively, which is related to their environmental specificity and to different types of land use at present and in the historical past.  相似文献

An analogous time series of fallow ecosystems (gray soils (Luvic Phaeozems) plowed and fallowed for 2, 7, 20, 60, and more than 120 years) in the broad-leaved forest zone of Orel oblast has been analyzed. Changes in carbon pool and CO2 emission in the course of postagrogenic succession during the vegetation and winter seasons have been estimated. The restoration of ecosystems on Luvic Phaeozems follows regularities revealed in analogous studies of southern taiga Podzols and forest-steppe Chernozems. Analogously to the other studied zonal chronosequences, total annual soil respiration on Luvic Phaeozems reaches the initial level of undisturbed ecosystems simultaneously with the restoration of phytomass reserve, although significantly earlier than the organic carbon reserve in soils is restored. According to regression models, among the zonal fallows in European Russia, including the southern taiga (Podzols), mixed forests (Luvisols), broadleaved forests (Luvic Phaeozems ), forest-steppe (Chernozems) and dry steppe (Calcisol–Solonetz soil complexes), the mean annual soil respiration is maximum in the zone of gray soils and Chernozems. The increase in soil respiration under artificial wetting (Birch effect) on fallows in the broad-leaved forest zone is minimum among the studied zonal chronosequences: 1.1 ± 0.6 (no effect), which corresponds to the optimal hydrothermal conditions in this zone.  相似文献

The carbon pool and its fluxes were studied in Karelian pine forests of automorphic sites for the characterization of the regional carbon cycle. On the permanent sample plots arranged in pine stands (dominant forest types) of the middle and northern taiga, the structure and dynamics of the phytomass, as well as the composition of the soil organic matter, were investigated. The contribution of different components of the forest ecosystems to the regional carbon budget was studied. The carbon pools in the soils of the middle and northern taiga subzones were 330–440 × 102 and 440–550 × 102 kg/ha, respectively. The share of soil carbon in the total carbon pool of the forest biogeocenoses studied amounted to 46–35 and 33–24%, respectively. The period of considerable carbon fixation in the pine ecosystem (nearly 20 × 102 kg/ha/yr) turned out to be limited to the middle-aged stands. In the mature and overmature pine forests, only 4 × 102 kg of C/ha/yr were fixed. The main part of carbon in the soil (65–75%) was contained in the illuvial horizons, although its content there was less that 1% as compared to 30–50% in the forest litters. On industrial harvesting of wood, the main reserves of soil carbon are not spent; only the fund of mobile carbon in organic horizons of poor soils is exhausted or carbon accumulates intensely due to the development of continuous plant cover on fertile soils.  相似文献

The dynamics of the CO2 emission from sandy soils in the course of the postagrogenic succession in the southern taiga zone were studied. We measured total emission from the soil surface and, separately, respiration from the litter and mineral soil horizons during the warm (snowless) seasons of 2010 and 2011 on differently aged fallow plots: 0 years (cropland) and 7, 23, 55, 100, and 170 years. It was demonstrated that changes in the CO2 emission in the course of the succession have a nonlinear pattern: the emission sharply increases in the first decade, then somewhat decreases, and then gradually increases again up to the maximum values. This is explained by the dependence of the rate of the emission on the soil carbon pools (humus + litter + underground phytomass) that are also subjected to nonlinear changes. Initially, the emission is mainly due to mineralization of labile organic substances added to the plowed soils in the form of organic fertilizers. Then, in parallel with a gradual increase in the pools of litter and underground phytomass, the total pool of soil organic carbon increases, and its role in the emission becomes more pronounced. The seasonal dynamics of the soil respiration are mainly controlled by the soil temperature; the soil moistening plays an important role only during the initial meadow stage of the succession.  相似文献

The results of complex investigations concerning the specific features of undisturbed southern taiga biogeocenoses’ functioning were summarized for the biogeocenoses at the Central Forest State Biosphere Nature Reserve (Tver oblast). In the soils of the different topographic elements, the water and temperature regimes and the pools of carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in the litter and mineral horizons were studied, as well as the rate of the falloff and litter decomposition in field and laboratory tests, the microbial biomass pool and structure, the abundance and diversity of the soil mesofauna, and the microbial transformation of the nitrogen compounds. In the biogeocenoses investigated, the transformation of carbon and nitrogen compounds is shown to be controlled by the biochemical composition of the falloff and the structure of the soil biota, which, in turn, are determined by the specific features of the water regime and the acid-base soil properties.  相似文献

This article considers carbon stocks in the tundra ecosystems of northern Fennoscandia with different meso- and macrorelief features in relation with the value and structure of the phytomass of these ecosystems and their volume weight of fine-grained soil. The basic stocks of ecosystem carbon (60–97%) are concentrated in shallow soils. The value of the soil pool of carbon is influenced not only by its concentration but also by the thickness and level of stoniness of soil horizons. Phytomass is the second most significant carbon pool. It was established that most of the tundra ecosystems have stocks of this element largely in belowground phytomass, which, on the whole, reflects the correlation between its aboveground and belowground parts. The carbon stocks in the mortmass of tundra ecosystems are comparable with or slightly exceed the carbon stocks in the live phytomass.  相似文献

The dynamics of carbon in ecosystems of abandoned agricultural lands were studied in the southern taiga zone. The soil acidity increased in the course of natural reforestation (the transition from meadow ecosystems to forest ecosystems) of the plots. The humus content in the upper soil layer decreased; changes in the humus content were less pronounced in sandy soils. The emission of carbon dioxide from the soils depended on the stage of vegetation succession during the restoration of forest vegetation.  相似文献

The biomass of large invertebrates was studied in the soils of forest ecosystems in the forest-tundra and southern taiga of Central Siberia. Its formation is shown to be controlled by the integrated effect of the soil and climatic conditions. The distribution of the zoomass according to the main taxonomic groups testifies to the higher functional significance of the large saprophagous invertebrates in the ecosystems of the southern taiga compared to those of the forest-tundra. The quantitative contribution of the invertebrates-destroyers to the organic matter decomposition was assessed on the basis of field experiments; it was shown to be determined by the quality of the material decomposed irrespective of the conditions and time of its exposition. Every year, soil saprophages decompose 0.5–2.0% of the total phytodetritus reserves in the forest-tundra and 3–14% in the southern taiga amounting to 12–54% of its losses upon decomposition.  相似文献

A map of the soil cover patterns in the Dzhida Depression (Baikal region) has been compiled on a scale of 1: 500 000. The grouping of the soil cover patterns into larger categories makes it possible to retain the information contained on large-scale soil maps upon their generalization to the small-scale soil map. The latter displays the regularities of soil distribution at the levels of soil types and subtypes. The areas of the major soil groups have been calculated. It is shown that podburs predominate in the northern taiga ecosystems (72%), whereas acid soddy taiga soils (71%) and podburs (22%) predominate in the middle taiga zone. Minor areas in these zones are occupied by podzolic soils (9%) and permafrost-affected taiga gley soils (14%).  相似文献

通过土壤样品的室内培养,运用三库一级动力学理论,以丘陵区红壤为对象,研究了水田、桔园、旱地、水旱轮作4种土地利用方式农田土壤有机碳库大小、各碳库平均周转时间及分解动态,探讨了土地利用变化对土壤有机碳的影响.结果表明,土壤有机碳分快速分解和缓慢分解两个阶段.快速分解阶段的分解速率与活性碳含量和活性碳占有机碳的百分含量相关性不明显;缓慢分解阶段的速率与缓性碳库含量呈正相关.4种土地利用类型表层和中层土壤总有机碳含量分别为4.97~12.40 g/kg,2.58~4.00 g/kg;缓性碳库表层含量的大小顺序为,水田(5.78 g/kg)>旱地(3.77 g/kg)>桔园(3.39 g/kg)>水旱轮作(2.83 g/kg)I惰性碳库表层含量的大小顺序与缓性碳相同,含量分别为6.42,5.43,2.45,2.03 g/kg,水田的缓、惰性碳库含量最高,水田更具有固碳潜力.  相似文献

Methane emission from natural mires in the middle and southern taiga zones of Tomsk oblast was studied in the summer and fall of 2006. Methane fluxes (mg C/m2 per h) from different types of mires and different microelements of the surface topography were characterized by the following median values: 0.67 for a forested bog; 4.06 and 2.67 for hollows and elevations (hillocks) of an open (nonforested) mire, respectively; and 0.74 and 2.13 for hollows and ridges of a ridged bog, respectively. Based on these and the literature data on the areas of different types of mires in Tomsk oblast, annual methane emission from mire ecosystems of Tomsk oblast was estimated at about 0.50 × 1012 Tg C. This value comprised 0.3–1.0% of the global emission of methane from wetlands or 0.1% of the global methane emission from all sources.  相似文献

The postagrogenic dynamics of acidity and some parameters of humus status have been studied in relation to the restoration of zonal vegetation in southern taiga (podzolic and soddy-podzolic soils (Retisols)), coniferous-broadleaved (subtaiga) forest (gray forest soil (Luvic Phaeozem)), and forest-steppe (gray forest soil (Haplic Phaeozem)) subzones. The most significant transformation of the studied properties of soils under changing vegetation has been revealed for poor sandy soils of southern taiga. The degree of changes in the content and stocks of organic carbon, the enrichment of humus in nitrogen, and acidity in the 0- to 20-cm soil layer during the postagrogenic evolution decreases from north to south. The adequate reflection of soil physicochemical properties in changes of plant cover is determined by the climatic zone and the land use pattern. A correlation between the changes in the soil acidity and the portion of acidophilic species in the plant cover is revealed for the southern taiga subzone. A positive relationship is found between the content of organic carbon and the share of species preferring humus-rich soils in the forest-steppe zone.  相似文献

The mean pools of soil carbon were determined for the first time for twelve soil groups (according to the World Reference Base for Soil Resources, 2006) on four test plots with the use of the high-resolution (Landsat and QuickBird) satellite imagery, original field data on more than 200 soil profiles, and literature data included in the soil database. Three test plots belonged to the ecotone between tundra and forest-tundra zones, and the fourth plot characterized the middle taiga zone. Spatial distribution patterns of soil carbon in different soil subgroups and genetic horizons were characterized for the areas with the mosaic soil and vegetation covers. The mean soil carbon content for the first three test plots in permafrost area was estimated at 39.5 kg C/m2, including 28.7 kg C/m2 in the upper soil meter. The mean soil carbon pool of the taiga plot reached 16.7 kg C/m2 (0–100 cm).  相似文献

The dynamics of the organic matter composition in soddy-podzolic soils during the natural reforestation of an arable land in the southern taiga zone have been discussed. It has been shown that the contents of the total and labile carbon in the old plow horizon increase with the age of the fallow in the chronosequence of soils established in the Parfen’evo district of Kostroma oblast. The parameters characterizing the labile soil organic matter include the contents of the carbon extractable by mild chemical extractants (distilled water, 0.1 M K2SO4 solution, 0.1 M neutral Na4P2O7 solution), the microbial biomass, and the light fraction. The granulo-densimetric fractionation has shown that the contents of carbon in the light and organomineral fractions of the soil vary in the course of the postagrogenic succession. The content of the clay-fraction carbon increases and its portion in the total carbon of the soil decreases at the transition from the plowland to the forest. The reforestation of agrosoddy-podzolic soils enhances the physical protection of the soil organic matter due to the increase in the portion of microaggregate carbon.  相似文献

An approach to assess the soil organic carbon (SOC) pools in megapolises and in small settlements with due account for the natural, economic, and historical heterogeneity of urban territories; the degree of the soil sealing; and the specific features of their functional use is discussed. Cartographic information, satellite imagery, geoinformation systems, and field and literature data have been applied to adapt this approach for Moscow and for the town of Serebryanye Prudy in Moscow oblast. The pool of SOC has been calculated for the topsoil horizons (0–10 cm) and for the total thickness of the cultural layer (habitation deposits) in these urban areas. The total SOC pool comprises 13 833.0 × 103 t (with an error of 30–40%) for Moscow and 2 996.6 × 103 t (with an error of 50–70%) for Serebryanye Prudy. The specific carbon pools for these territories reach 128 and 810 t/ha, respectively. The cultural layer of Moscow concentrates about 75% of the total SOC pool; in Serebryanye Prudy, it contains about 95% of the total SOC pool. The SOC pools in the urban soils are comparable with or exceed the SOC pools in the corresponding natural zonal soils.  相似文献

A quantitative assessment of the carbon balance was performed in gray forest soils of the former agricultural lands abandoned in different time periods in the southern part of Moscow oblast. It was based on the field measurements of the total and heterotrophic soil respiration and the productivity of biocenoses. Geobotanical investigations demonstrated that the transformation of the species composition of herbs from weeds to predominantly meadow plants occurred in five–ten years after the soil was no more used for farming. The amount of carbon assimilated in the NPP changed from 97 g C/m2 year in the recently abandoned field to 1103 g C/m2 year in the 10-year-old fallow, and the total annual loss of carbon from the soil in the form of CO2 varied from 347 to 845 g C/m2 year. In five years, the former arable lands were transformed into meadow ecosystems that functioned as a stable sink of carbon in the phytomass and the soil organic matter.  相似文献

The evolution of Russian concepts concerning the assessment of soil suitability for cultivation in relation to several campaigns on large-scale plowing of virgin steppe soils is examined. The major problems of agricultural land use in steppe areas—preservation of rainfed farming in the regions with increasing climatic risks, underestimation of the potential of arable lands in land cadaster assessments, and much lower factual yields in comparison with potential yields—are considered. It is suggested that the assessments of arable lands should be performed on the basis of the soil–ecological index (SEI) developed by I. Karmanov with further conversion of SEI values into nominal monetary values. Under conditions of land reforms and economic reforms, it is important to determine suitability of steppe chernozems for plowing and economic feasibility of their use for crop growing in dependence on macroeconomic parameters. This should support decisions on optimization of land use in the steppe zone on the basis of the principles suggested by V. Dokuchaev. The developed approach for assessing soil suitability for cultivation was tested in the subzone of herbaceous–fescue–feather grass steppes in the Cis-Ural part of Orenburg oblast and used for the assessment of soil suitability for cultivation in the southern and southeastern regions of Orenburg oblast.  相似文献

Specific features of soil formation in the taiga zone of Western Siberia are considered. The polygenetic nature of podzolic and gley-podzolic soils in the middle taiga zone, soddy-podzolic and soddy gley soils in the southern taiga zone, and meadow soils in the subtaiga zone is related to the pre-Holocene transformation of the lithogenic matrix upon activation of denudation and accumulation processes and the complicated Holocene evolution of these soils. A soil profile can be subdivided into separate layers according to the geomorphic features of the cryogenesis, the indices of interruption of soil formation, and the differences in the composition of the organic matter in the relict and modern humus horizons.  相似文献

固碳效益是侵蚀退化地水土保持效益的重要组成部分,其对全面评价生态修复意义重大.从人工促进生态修复林分固碳功能出发,以裸露地为对照,不同人工修复措施林分为研究对象,对其碳储量及固碳价值进行了研究.结果表明,人工修复显著增加了植被碳库和土壤碳库的碳储量,强烈干扰马尾松、竹节沟马尾松、种草竹节沟马尾松和竹节沟湿地松植被碳库分别为6.12,6.83,8.20和32.69 t/hm2,其土壤碳库分别为裸露地的1.16,1.37,1.60和2.71倍,固碳总价值分别比裸露地增加了0.36,0.60,0.87和2.78倍.  相似文献

A decrease in the depth of organic surface horizons (forest litters and steppe mats), the reserves of organic matter in them, and an increase in their renewal rate were noted for virgin and fallow soils when going from the southern taiga to the dry steppe zone. Zonal changes in the content and reserve of easily decomposable soil organic matter showed a similar tendency: these parameters regularly decreased from soddy-podzolic soils of the southern taiga to chestnut and light chestnut soils of the dry steppe. An exception from this series is provided by fallow chernozems of the steppe zone noted for the lowest content and reserve of labile organic matter in the series of soils studied. Similar, although less pronounced, tendencies were observed for the arable soils.  相似文献
