An inoculation of the deep burrowing earthworm Lumbricus terrestris L. was carried out for soil amelioration purposes at an arable field on heavy clay in southern Finland. L. terrestris, whilst entirely absent from the field and its immediate surrounding, was present in many other local soils. Prior to inoculation, field management was changed in favour of L. terrestris by improving the subdrainage and by implementation of reduced tillage. In Autumn 1996, 82 earthworm inoculation units (EIUs) were introduced in three transects at one end of the field, one transect lying within a permanent grass strip outside the cultivated area. In Autumn 1998, L. terrestris had persisted outside the cultivated area with maximum density of 28 ind. m−2 (median: 0 ind. m−2). No individuals were found inside the field. In Autumn 2003, maximum density was 43 ind. m−2 (median: 9 ind. m−2) outside the cultivated area, with evidence for 8 m dispersal from inoculation points (1.1 m year−1). In 2003 individuals were also found in low densities inside the field, close to subdrains, with a maximum density of 4 ind. m−2. Results call for critical evaluation of this inoculation practice.  相似文献

Enchytraeidae were studied at spruce forest sites (Harz, Germany) differing in their exposure and soil acidity affected by acid deposition. Total density ranged between 38 000 and 59 000 ind. m–2 and biomass between 0.5 and 1 g m–2 d.m. (annual means). Of the seven species recorded, Cognettia sphagnetorum, Marionina clavata, and Achaeta camerani were dominant. The site affected most by acidification had the highest densities and lowest species number. Population dynamics and vertical distributions were affected by climate. Field and laboratory data provide evidence for sexual reproduction in C. sphagnetorum. Substrate preference experiments showed this species to prefer spruce litter from the OL-Horizon to that from the OH-Horizon, and spruce litter to beech litter.  相似文献

Earthworms can have positive effects upon crop growth in the tropics. If soils are to be managed sustainably, then more attention should be paid to the effects of cultivation and cropping practices upon earthworms. When forest vegetation is cleared, slashed, burned and land is tilled and cultivated, earthworm abundance, diversity and activity are reduced. Conversely, retaining trees in agroecosystems may maintain earthworm populations during the cropping phase.Here, we assessed the impact on earthworm species diversity and densities of crop cultivation in the understorey of timber plantations thinned to two tree densities and compared these with uncropped, undisturbed timber plantation controls. The plots were reassessed after two and a half years of fallow to see whether populations had recovered. The experiment was in central Cameroon.Seventeen earthworm species were recorded from Eudrilidae subfamilies Eudrilinae and Pareudrilinae, Ocnerodrilidae and Acanthodrilidae, most of which were endemics. This included two new species from two new genera from the sub-family Pareudrilinae, one new species from one new genus of Ocnerodrilidae, two new species of Dichogaster and one new species of Legonodrilus. Ten species were epigeic, six were endogeic and one was anecic.Generally, earthworm densities were lower in cropped plots than in the undisturbed plantation control. The most abundant species was a Legonodrilus sp. nov. with average densities of 49 individuals m−2 in the crop phase and 80 ind. m−2 in the fallow phase. By the fallow phase, densities in the low tree density (120 ind. m−2) were higher than in the high density (40 ind. m−2). The densities of the epigeic Acanthodrilidae were significantly reduced to 7 ind. m−2 in the cropped plots compared with 42 ind. m−2 in the control plots. The effects of cropping were thus species-specific and more work is required to identify which of these endemics are the ecosystem engineers in the system.  相似文献

Initial colonization of cotton stems by microarthropods proceeded more rapidly while buried in soil under laboratory conditions (20–23°C) than while buried in the field during the winter months when soil temperatures ranged from 5–10°C in the study area in the San Joaquin Valley of California. While 15 species were found frequently in cotton stems held in the laboratory for 20 weeks, only seven species were found in field buried stems. Arthropods found under both conditions were a species of pyemotid mite; an astigmatid mite, Tyrophagus dimidiatus; two collembolans, Proisotoma minuta and Tullbergia sp.; and a sciarid fly larval stage, Bradysia impatiens. Even though the soils at teh field sites possessed a number of microarthropods in common, the stem colonization at each site was restricted to a single group which differed from each of the other sites. Microenvironments affect stem colonization patterns by microarthropods but microarthropods did not appear to have a significant influence on early cotton stem decomposition rates nor was there evidence that their activities reduced Verticillium microsclerotia populations.  相似文献

The spectrum and densities of soil nematode species were studied in an extensively managed sub-thermophilous meadow and in conventionally managed and abandoned fallow fields left to natural succession. In the meadow, 115 species and 71 genera of soil nematodes were found and the total mean nematode abundance was 1019×103 individuals/m2. The dominant feeding groups were root-fungal feeders (31%, mainly Filenchus), bacterivores (26%; variety of genera, mainly Panagrolaimus, Rhabditis, Acrobeloides, Bursilla, Plectus, Anaplectus, and Eucephalobus), and fungivores (16%, Aphelenchoides). The cultivated field had 66 species and 41 genera of nematodes and a mean nematode abundance of 546×103 individuals/m2. The eudominant trophic group was bacterivores (53%; mainly Panagrolaimus and Acrobeloides) accompanied by fungivores (28%, Aphelenchoides). During 2 years of natural succession in an abandoned field, the total mean nematode abundance rose to 938×103 individuals/m2, and the number of species and genera increased to 73 and 46, respectively. Omnivores (25%, Aporcelaimellus and Eudorylaimus), fungivores (24%, Aphelenchus) and bacterivores (21%, Eucephalobus and Panagrolaimus) became the leading trophic groups, and the values of the Shannon Index of diversity and the Maturity Index increased. The development of soil nematode populations in the early successional stages of abandoned cambisol fields in Central Europe is discussed.  相似文献

Metal(loid) accumulation and arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) status of the dominant plant species, Cynodon dactylon, growing at four multi-metal(loid)s-contaminated sites and an uncontaminated site of China were investigated. Up to 94.7 As mg kg?1, 417 Pb mg kg?1, 498 Zn mg kg?1, 5.8 Cd mg kg?1 and 27.7 Cu mg kg?1 in shoots of C. dactylon were recorded. The plant was colonized consistently by AM fungi (33.0–65.5%) at both uncontaminated site and metal-contaminated sites. Based on morphological characteristics, fourteen species of AM fungi were identified in the rhizosphere of C. dactylon, with one belonging to the genus of Acaulospora and the other thirteen belonging to the genus of Glomus. Glomus etunicatum was the most common species associated with C. dactylon growing at metal-contaminated sites. Spore abundance in the rhizosphere of C. dactylon growing at the metal-contaminated soils (22–82 spores per 25 g soil) was significantly lower than that of the uncontaminated soils (371 spores per 25 g soil). However, AM fungal species diversity in the metal-contaminated soils was significantly higher than that in the uncontaminated soils. This is the first report of AM status in the rhizosphere of C. dactylon, the dominant plant survival in metal-contaminated soils. The investigation also suggests that phytorestoration of metal-contaminated sites might be facilitated using the appropriate plant with the aid of tolerant AM fungi.  相似文献

The relative effects of road traffic and forest cover on anuran populations   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Road traffic and the loss of forests are both known to have negative effects on anurans. However, the relative importance of these two predictors is poorly understood because forest cover in the landscape is usually negatively correlated with the density of roads and traffic. To evaluate the independent effects of traffic and forest cover, we selected 36 ponds near Ottawa, Canada, at the center of four landscape types: low forest/low traffic; low forest/high traffic; high forest/low traffic; and high forest/high traffic, where traffic and forest cover were measured within 100-2000 m of the edge of each pond. We surveyed all ponds in 2005 and re-surveyed a 23-pond subset in 2006. The negative association between species richness and traffic density was stronger (partial R2 = 0.34; P < .001) than the positive association of species richness with forest cover (partial R2 = 0.10; P > .05) in the landscape. Three of six common species showed stronger associations with traffic density than with forest cover - Bufo americanus, Rana pipiens, and Hyla versicolor; two species - Pseudacris crucifer and Rana sylvatica - showed stronger associations with forest cover than with traffic; while Rana clamitans showed similar associations with traffic and forest cover. Our results show that the overall negative effect of traffic on anuran populations in northeastern North America is at least as great as the negative effect of deforestation, and also that the relative effects of these two predictors on anuran abundance vary between species.  相似文献

In the desert areas of China investigated by the authors, various biological crusts were predominately associated with three blue-green algal (cyanobacterial) species, Microcoleus vaginatus Gom., Phormidium tenue (Menegh.) Gom. and Scytonema javanicum (Kütz.) Born et Flah. Their biomass and their compressive strength were measured simultaneously in the field in this study. It was also found that the compressive strength of algal crusts was enhanced with the increasing of algal biomass from an undetectable level to a value as high as 9.6 mg g−1 dry soil. However, when the algal biomass decreased, the compressive strength did not descend immediately, but remained relatively steady. The higher the algal biomass became, the thicker were the algal crusts formed. Given the same biomass, the highest compressive strength of man-made algal crusts in fields was found at an algal ratio of 62.5% M. vaginatus, 31.25% P. tenue and 6.25% S. javanicum, and it reached 0.89 kg cm−2. When the biomass of the crusts increased above the value of 8.16 mg chla g−1 dry soil, the compressive strength would not ascend easily. It indicated that the compressive strength of man-made algal crusts appeared temporarily saturated in the field.  相似文献

Visual fields were determined in three bird species representative of families known to be subject to high levels of mortality associated with power lines; kori bustards Ardeotis kori, Otididae, blue cranes Anthropoides paradisea, Gruidae and white storks Ciconia ciconia, Ciconiidae. In all species the frontal visual fields showed narrow and vertically long binocular fields typical of birds that take food items directly in the bill under visual guidance. However, these species differed markedly in the vertical extent of their binocular fields and in the extent of the blind areas which project above and below the binocular fields in the forward facing hemisphere. The importance of these blind areas is that when in flight, head movements in the vertical plane (pitching the head to look downwards) will render the bird blind in the direction of travel. Such movements may frequently occur when birds are scanning below them (for foraging or roost sites, or for conspecifics). In bustards and cranes pitch movements of only 25° and 35° respectively are sufficient to render the birds blind in the direction of travel; in storks head movements of 55° are necessary. That flying birds can render themselves blind in the direction of travel has not been previously recognised and has important implications for the effective mitigation of collisions with human artefacts including wind turbines and power lines. These findings have applicability to species outside of these families especially raptors (Accipitridae) which are known to have small binocular fields and large blind areas similar to those of bustards and cranes, and are also known to be vulnerable to power line collisions.  相似文献

Two-hectare unsown, tilled fallow plots put in place under agri-environment schemes for stone curlews Burhinus oedicnemus in England were surveyed for other bird species, brown hares Lepus europaeus, carabid beetles, vascular plants, butterflies and bumblebees. The results were compared with those from surveys within the crop in the same field and in neighbouring fields. This was done to test whether agri-environment management targeted at a single species also provided benefits to wider biodiversity. All groups except carabid beetles were more abundant, more likely to be recorded, or more species rich on plots than within the crop. Carabid beetle activity–density and species richness did not differ between the plot and the crop; activity–density of one functional group (predators) was lower on plots than in the crop. Six rare arable plant species were recorded, predominantly from plots, and the plots are considered to perform comparably to other agri-environment options available in England designed specifically for arable plants. One red-listed bird species of conservation concern (skylark Alauda arvensis) was more abundant on plots than in the crop, and three other red-listed species (linnet Carduelis cannabina, yellowhammer Emberiza citrinella, corn bunting E. calandra) were more likely to be recorded on plots than in the crop. A fifth (lapwing Vanellus vanellus) was almost exclusively recorded from plots, and was more likely to be recorded on plots categorised as in good condition for stone curlews. These results demonstrate that fallow plots that have been put in place for the recovery of stone curlews have considerable value for a range of other farmland biodiversity, although management for stone curlews may be detrimental to some taxa, such as carabid beetles, that are sensitive to the relatively frequent spring tillage that these plots receive.  相似文献

Enzyme activities and microbial biomass in coastal soils of India   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Soil salinity is a serious problem for agriculture in coastal regions, wherein salinity is temporal in nature. We studied the effect of salinity, in summer, monsoon and winter seasons, on microbial biomass carbon (MBC) and enzyme activities (EAs) of the salt-affected soils of the coastal region of the Bay of Bengal, Sundarbans, India. The average pH of soils collected from different sites, during different seasons varied from 4.8 to 7.8. The average organic C (OC) and total N (TN) content of the soils ranged between 5.2-14.1 and 0.6-1.4 g kg−1, respectively. The electrical conductivity of the saturation extract (ECe) of soils, averaged over season, varied from 2.2 to 16.3 dSm−1. The ECe of the soils increased five fold during the summer season (13.8 dSm−1) than the monsoon season (2.7 dSm−1). The major cation and anion detected were Na+ and Cl, respectively. Seasonality exerted considerable effects on MBC and soil EAs, with the lowest values recorded during the summer season. The activities of β-glucosidase, urease, acid phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase were similar during the winter and monsoon season. The dehydrogenase activity of soils was higher in monsoon than in winter. Average MBC, dehydrogenase, β-glucosidase, urease, acid phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase activities of the saline soils ranged from 125 to 346 mg kg−1 oven dry soil, 6-9.9 mg triphenyl formazan (TPF) kg−1 oven dry soil h−1, 18-53 mg p-nitro phenol (PNP) kg−1 oven dry soil h−1, 38-86 mg urea hydrolyzed kg−1 oven dry soil h−1, 213-584 mg PNP kg−1 oven dry soil h−1 and 176-362 mg PNP g−1 oven dry soil h−1, respectively. The same for the non-saline soils were 274-446 mg kg−1 oven dry soil, 8.8-14.4 mg TPF kg−1 oven dry soil h−1, 41-80 mg PNP kg−1 oven dry soil h−1, 89-134 mg urea hydrolyzed kg−1 oven dry soil h−1, 219-287 mg PNP kg−1 oven dry soil h−1 and 407-417 mg PNP kg−1 oven dry soil h−1, respectively. About 48%, 82%, 48%, 63%, 40% and 48% variation in MBC, dehydrogenase activity, β-glucosidase activity, urease activity, acid phosphatase activity and alkaline phosphatase activity, respectively, could be explained by the variation in ECe of saline soils. Suppression of EAs of the coastal soils during summer due to salinity rise is of immense agronomic significance and needs suitable interventions for sustainable crop production.  相似文献

To study the feasibility of earthworm introduction for increasing the macroporosity and permeability of arable heavy clay, deep-burrowing earthworms (Lumbricus terrestris L.) were inoculated into a tile drained experimental field in Jokioinen, S-W Finland in autumn 1996. Inoculation with the Earthworm Inoculation Unit technique was at the up-slope end of the field, in the field margins under permanent grass, and inside the four 0.46 ha plots of the field. The experiment was monitored on three occasions. In 1998 the L. terrestris population had persisted in low numbers only in field and plot margins. By 2003, when the field had been under set-aside grass for three years, density had grown in the margins and L. terrestris were also found inside the field at a very low density. The third monitoring was in autumn 2009, after a further four years as set-aside and a subsequent division of the field into no-till and ploughing management, and looked at the effects of management (margins, no-till, ploughing), distance from the inoculation and sub-drainage on L. terrestris abundance. The abundance displayed a clear gradient over the field, declining from 14 ind. and 18 g m?2 at 5–9 m from inoculation, to 1 ind. and 2 g m?2 at 56–60 m distance. Margins had the highest abundances (16 ind. and 32 g m?2), followed by no-till (4 ind. and 4 g m?2) and ploughing (1 ind. and 1 g m?2). Abundances were significantly higher above the tiles than between them (P < 0.05). The results demonstrate the importance of no-till and sub-drain line habitats as settlement supports for the inoculated population. Field margins proved to be decisive for inoculation success, by providing bridgeheads for population establishment and later by acting as source areas for the colonisation of the field. This finding highlights the general importance of field margins in the dispersal ecology of earthworms in arable landscapes.  相似文献

A new survey taken in the East Mediterranean island of Cyprus showed an increase in the number of earthworm species (from the six recorded earlier to 16). These species belong to two earthworm families: Lumbricidae (15 species) and Acanthodrilidae (one species). The majority of these species are autochthonous (57–64%) and five to seven species (36–44%) were introduced. The autochthonous species are (i) endemic of the Levant (Dendrobaena semitica), (ii) distributed in Anatolia and the Caucasus (D. pentheri), (iii) distributed from Europe up to Anatolia (Allolobophora nematogena, D. pantaleonis, Proctodrilus tuberculatus) (iv) distributed from Europe up to the Levant (Murchieona minuscula), (v) distributed in the Transcaucasian region and in the East Mediterranean (Helodrilus patriarchalis), or (vi) widely distributed along the Mediterranean basin (D. byblica, Eiseniella neapolitana, and Octodrilus complanatus). The data obtained indicate that the Cypriote earthworm fauna is significantly richer in species than previously thought and that it has more zoogeographic affinities with the Anatolian fauna than with those of Levant.  相似文献

It is well known that earthworm populations tend to increase under no-tillage (NT) practices, but abundances tend to be highly variable. In the present study, data from the literature together with those on earthworm populations sampled in six watersheds in SW Paraná State, Brazil, were used to build a classification of the biological soil quality of NT systems based on earthworm density and species richness. Earthworms were collected in 34 farms with NT aging from 3 to 27 yr, in February 2010, using an adaptation of the TSBF (Tropical Soil Biology and Fertility) Program method (hand sorting of five 20 cm × 20 cm holes to 20 cm depth). Six forest sites were also sampled in order to compare abundances and species richness with the NT systems. Species richness in the 34 NT sites and in the 6 forests ranged from 1 to 6 species. Most earthworms encountered were exotics belonging to the genus Dichogaster (D. saliens, D. gracilis, D. bolaui and D. affinis) and native Ocnerodrilidae (mainly Belladrilus sp.), all of small individual size. In a few sites, individuals of the Glossoscolecidae (P. corethrurus, Glossoscolex sp., Fimoscolex sp.) and Megascolecidae (Amynthas gracilis) families were also encountered, in low densities. Urobenus brasiliensis (Glossoscolecidae) were found only in the forest fragments. In the NT farms, earthworm abundance ranged from 5 to 605 ind m−2 and in the forest sites, from 10 to 285 ind m−2. The ranking of the NT soil biological quality, based on earthworm abundance and species richness was: poor, with <25 individuals per m−2 and 1 sp.; moderate, with ≥25–100 individuals per m−2 and 2–3 sp.; good, with >100–200 individuals per m−2 and 4–5 sp.; excellent, with >200 individuals per m−2 and >6 sp. About 60% of the 34 farms fell into the poor to moderate categories based on this classification, so further improvements to the NT farm's management system are needed to enhance earthworm populations. Nevertheless, further validation of this ranking system is necessary to allow for its wider-spread use.  相似文献

The concentrations of Zn, Cd, Pb and Cu in earthworm tissues were compared with the total and DTPA-extractable contents of these heavy metals in contaminated soils. Samples were taken from a pasture polluted by waste from a metallurgic industry over 70 y ago. Three individuals of Aporrectodea caliginosa and Lumbricus rubellus and soil samples were collected at six points along a gradient of increasing pollution. Total metal contents of earthworms, soil, and metals extracted by DTPA from the soil were measured. Total heavy metal contents of the soils ranged from 165.7 to 1231.7 mg Zn kg−1, 2.7 to 5.2 mg Cd kg−1, 45.8 to 465.5 mg Pb kg−1 and 30.0 to 107.5 mg Cu kg−1. Their correlations with metals extracted by DTPA were highly significant. Contents of the metals in earthworm tissues were higher in A. caliginosa than in L. rubellus, with values ranging from 556 to 3381 mg Zn kg−1, 11.6 to 102.9 mg Cd kg−1, 1.9 to 182.8 mg Pb kg−1 and 17.9 to 35.9 mg Cu kg−1 in A. caliginosa, and from 667.9 to 2645 mg Zn kg−1, 7.7 to 26.3 mg Cd kg−1, 0.5 to 37.9 mg Pb kg−1 and 16.0 to 37.6 mg Cu kg−1 in L. rubellus, respectively. Correlations between body loads in earthworms with either total or DTPA-extractable contents of soil metals were significant, except for Cd in L. rubellus and Cu in A. caliginosa. Considering its simple analytical procedure, DTPA-extractable fraction may be preferable to total metal content as a predictor of bio-concentrations of heavy metals in earthworms. Biota-to-Soil Accumulation Factor (BSAF) of these four metals are Cd>Zn>Cu>Pb, with range of mean values between: Cd (6.18-17.02), Zn (1.95-7.91), Cu (0.27-0.89) and Pb (0.08-0.38) in A. caliginosa, and Cd (3.64-6.34), Zn (1.5-6.35), Cu (0.29-0.87) and Pb (0.04-0.13) in L. rubellus. The BSAF of Ca, Fe and Mn are Ca>Mn>Fe, with mean values of: Ca (0.46-1.31), Mn (0.041-0.111), Fe (0.017-0.07) in A. caliginosa and Ca (0.98-2.13), Mn (0.14-0.23), Fe (0.019-0.048) in L. rubellus, respectively. Results of principal component analysis showed that the two earthworm species differ in the pattern of metal bioaccumulation which is related to their ecological roles in contaminated soils.  相似文献

The distributions of free oxides along profiles of some dry rice fields were set forth in the previous reports2,3,4,6), In this paper, the distribution of free oxides in dry rice field5) in polder lands of Kojima-Basin, Okayama pref. is reported. Localities, years elapsed since the planting of rice began in each field and the characteristic of soil profiles are given in Table 1. All the fields are dry rice fields except Soil A, and carry barley or wheat in winter season. Parent materials are similar in all horizons of all soils and rich in fine particles. Fine sands (0.2-0.02 mm) are mainly composed of quartz somewhat accompanied with feldspars, mica, augite and amphibolite. Clays (< 0.002 mm) are mainly composed of halloysite accompanied with a small proportion of montmorillonite. The structure develops well in all the soils.  相似文献

Diagnostic tests for organic production of crops would be useful. In this study, the difference in natural 15N abundances (δ15N) of soils and plants between fertilizer-applied upland (FU) and compost-applied upland (CU) fields was investigated to study using δ15N as a marker of organic produce. Twenty samples each of soils and plants were collected from each field in early summer after applying fertilizer or compost. The δ15N of fertilizers and composts was −1.6±1.5‰ (n=8) and 17.4±1.2‰ (n=10), respectively. The δ15N of total soil-N was significantly (P<0.05) higher in CU fields (8.8±2.0‰) than in FU fields (5.9±0.7‰) due to long-term continuous application of 15N-enriched compost, as indicated by a positive correlation (r=0.62) between N content and δ15N of total soil-N. The NO3 pool of CU soils (11.6±4.5‰) was also significantly (P<0.05) enriched in 15N compared to FU soils (4.7±1.1‰), while the 15N contents of NH4+ pool were not different between both soils. Compost application resulted in 15N enrichment of plants; the δ15N values were 14.6±3.3‰ for CU and 4.1±1.7‰ for FU fields. These results showed that long-term application of compost resulted in a significant 15N-enrichment of soils and plants relative to fertilizer. Therefore, this study suggested that δ15N could serve as promising indicators of organic fertilizers application when used with other independent evidence. However, further studies under many conditions should be conducted to prepare reliable δ15N guidelines for organic produce, since the δ15N of inorganic soil-N and plant-N are influenced by various factors such as soil type, plant species, the rate of N application, and processes such as mineralization, nitrification, and denitrifcation.  相似文献

Some biological effects of soilfertilisation with sewage sludge were investigated aftersoil reclamation in an opencast mining area. Two earthwormspecies (Allolobophora chlorotica chloroticaand Nicodrilus caliginosus meridionalis) inhabitingthe reclaimed soil were tested for their response to twohigh doses of sludge (75 and 150 g kg-1 of dry sludgein dry sieved soil). The metal concentrations in thesludge amended soils were below that which worm mortalitywould be expected. Mean annual density of the earthwormswas higher in the plots where the sludge was applied (435and 335 ind. m-2) than in control (115 ind. m-2).We verified the accumulation of Cd and Zn by the twoearthworm species at any dose of sludge, and metalaccumulation was higher in N. caliginosus than inA. chlorotica. Surface and subsurface soil samples from the most arid region within the Atacama Desert, Chile, were analyzed for total organic carbon (TOC), phospholipid fatty acids (PLFA) and culturable bacteria. TOC content was determined to range between 560 and 765 μg/g. PLFA analysis indicated 2.0×106-1.0×107 cell equivalents/g. Culturing of soil extracts on R2A and TSA media yielded 1.6×103-4.6×103 CFU/g, and 200-300 CFU/g heat shock survivors. Twenty isolated strains were identified based on analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences, and divided into eight phylogenetic groups, including Rhodopseudomonas, Sphingomonas sp., Mesorhizobium sp., Asticcacaulis sp., Bradyrhizobium sp., Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus pumilus, and Burkholderia sp.  相似文献

Starting in the 1980's, the Rainbow Smelt (Osmerus mordax) population of the Boyer River (Canada) gradually declined due to water eutrophication and excessive siltation in the spawning area. Sediments and agricultural nutrients reach hydrosystems through runoff and soil erosion. The objectives of the study were to quantify the soil and sediment loss from agricultural fields and to identify the areas at risk, using 137Cs measurements. Using a Geographical Information Systems (GIS), the watershed was subdivided into 6 isosectors presenting specific soil/slope combinations. Representative fields from each isosector were sampled for 137Cs. Using GIS, the data for individual fields were extrapolated to isosectors and the whole cultivated area of the watershed. Based on this approach, it was estimated that around 30% of the arable lands of the watershed show erosion rates higher than 6 t ha− 1 yr− 1, which is considered as a tolerable level for Canadian soils, and that 45% of the residual area presents an erosion rate close to that limit. The average sediment production at the edge of fields was estimated at 2.8 t ha− 1 yr− 1, for an annual production of more than 60 000 t of material. Loamy soils with a slope higher than 2% were estimated to generate the highest sediment rate (6.9 t ha− 1 yr− 1) and nearly 40% of the overall sediment production.  相似文献
