To optimize broodstock management for Seriola rivoliana, a survey over 5 years was performed to evaluate the effects of successive hormonal inductions with GnRHa or dietary regime on spawning quality. Running males and females with an oocyte diameter > 500 μm were injected with GnRHa. The spawning quality was compared among consecutive years and different moments along the spawning season. Besides, three different feeding regimes were tested. Spawning quality parameters were not significantly affected by time along the spawning season, whereas they were clearly influenced by diet. Particularly, broodfish fed the mackerel regime (M) showed a significantly higher number of eggs than other treatments. Besides, dietary protein content significantly improved broodstock fecundity of S. rivoliana. Moreover, hatching rates were also higher in broodfish fed mackerel and the dietary docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) levels significantly increased this parameter. Despite polar lipids were not significantly affected, neutral lipids fatty acid composition of S. rivoliana eggs showed higher 18:2n‐6 in eggs, whereas ARA content was not affected. The results of this study denoted the high fecundity and good spawning quality of S. rivoliana broodfish and suggested the importance of high protein, energy and DHA levels in broodstock diets. 相似文献

A 60‐day feeding trial to determine the nutritional value of marine by‐product meals in diets for longfin yellowtail Seriola rivoliana juveniles (48.1 ± 0.6 g initial weight) was conducted. Five diets were evaluated: a reference diet (RD; 500 g kg?1 CP, 130 g kg?1 L), containing 500 g kg?1 of fish meal (FM); three experimental diets with 125 g kg?1 of shrimp head (SM), Catarina scallop viscera (CM) or Pen shell viscera (PM) meals; and one diet (SCP) containing 125 g kg?1 of each of the experimental meals, to partially replace FM. Survival was not significantly affected by any treatment. Individual weight gain per day was high for the PM (5.3 ± 0.51 g d?1) and SM (4.7 ± 0.32 g d?1) diets, being significantly higher than the RD (3.5 ± 0.23 g d?1) and the other treatments (<1.2 g d?1). Feed intake was high in PM and SM diets, and very low in SCP and CM diets. Biochemical and haematological parameters were similar among treatments RD, PM and SM, while fish fed CM and SCP exhibited lower levels of total protein, cholesterol, haematocrit and haemoglobin. Effects of taurine supplementation in live feeds on larval rearing performance of California yellowtail Seriola lalandi and white seabass Atractoscion nobilis 下载免费PDF全文
The larval rearing performance of California yellowtail (Seriola lalandi) and white seabass (Atractoscion nobilis) was compared between larvae fed taurine‐supplemented rotifers (Brachionus plicatilis) and Artemia (Artemia franciscana) and control groups fed live feeds with no taurine enhancement. Results from the S. lalandi trial demonstrated that when fed taurine‐supplemented rotifers, survival was significantly higher than the control group (20.1% vs. 9.1%, P < 0.01) as was notochord length (5.43 mm vs. 5.13 mm, P < 0.005). No larval performance differences were detected between experimental and control treatments of A. nobilis. Biochemical analyses demonstrated that taurine concentrations were significantly elevated in both S. lalandi (23.7 vs. 2.7 mg g?1, P < 0.001) and A. nobilis (33.0 vs. 21.0 mg g?1, P < 0.005) when live feeds were supplemented with taurine. Results suggest that taurine is a limiting nutrient in the larviculture of S. lalandi but may not be for A. nobilis. 相似文献

Taurine is an essential or conditionally essential nutrient for many species of marine fish, especially during early development. There is growing evidence that marine fish larvae benefit from taurine‐enriched rotifers; however, it is unknown if larvae benefit from taurine‐enriched Artemia. We investigated the effects of taurine‐enriched rotifers (Brachionus plicatilis) and Artemia franciscana on the growth and whole‐body taurine concentrations of California yellowtail (Seriola lalandi; CYT) larvae. The approach used in this study was to encapsulate taurine within microparticles (liposomes), which were then fed to rotifers and Artemia. We found that feeding taurine liposomes to rotifers and Artemia resulted in taurine concentrations in these prey species that were similar to or above those previously reported in copepods. At the end of the rotifer phase, CYT larvae fed taurine‐enriched rotifers showed increased growth (final dry weights; DW) and had higher whole body taurine concentrations when compared to larvae fed unenriched rotifers. At the end of the Artemia phase, CYT whole body taurine concentrations varied among dietary treatments. Larval lengths and DWs were not significantly different among treatments at the end of the Artemia phase, suggesting that the taurine concentrations of unenriched Artemia were sufficient to support the growth of CYT larvae. 相似文献

Five isoproteic (54.8%) and isolipidic (24.1%) microdiets, which varied in their docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) content (0.25%, 0.75%, 1.64%, 1.99% and 3.17%; dw), were manufactured to determine its effects on longfin yellowtail Seriola rivoliana larvae in terms of fish biological performance, whole body fatty acid profile and incidence of skeletal anomalies from 30 dah (11.31 ± 1.79 Total Length, TL) to 50 dah (19.80 ± 0.58 mm TL). The inclusion of dietary DHA up to 3.17% (dw) improved larval resistance to air exposure, although DHA did not significantly affect fish final growth or final survival. Indeed, high levels of dietary DHA (1.99% and 3.17%, dw) tended to increase the incidence of skeletal anomalies in S. rivoliana larvae, albeit no significant differences were observed. Furthermore, the occurrence of severe anomalies such as kyphosis and lordosis, was mainly associated to the larvae fed the highest levels of dietary DHA. In terms of survival, increasing dietary DHA levels did not significantly affect longfin yellowtail survival rate, despite a tendency for enhanced survival. The results of the present study proved that the inclusion of dietary DHA in inert diets up to a 3.17% (dw) and a DHA/EPA ratio above 3.1 increased the final survival and stress resistance in S. rivoliana larvae. 相似文献

Taurine is an important amino acid derivative for marine and freshwater fish, especially during early development. We investigated the range of taurine concentrations that influence the growth and survival rates of California yellowtail (CYT; Seriola dorsalis) during transition from live feeds to microparticulate diets, as well as the extent to which nutrient leaching from the microparticulate diets affects these ranges. We tested particle‐assisted rotationally agglomerated (PARA) particles with four levels of taurine: 4 (low taurine; LT), 45 (medium taurine; MT), 93 (high taurine; HT) and 122 g/kg (very high taurine; VHT). Our results showed that CYT postlarvae had no significant differences in growth, survival and feed consumption rates between the MT, HT and VHT treatments. However, it should be noted that the PARA particles containing 122 g/kg (VHT) taurine were especially prone to leaching and may have had taurine concentrations as low as 34.9 g/kg before they settled on the bottom of the tank. Therefore, the actual dietary taurine concentrations experienced by the larvae were likely lower than the initial dietary concentrations. More research is needed to evaluate the potential nutrient toxicity of elevated dietary taurine concentrations for marine fish larvae and juveniles. 相似文献

Morphological development and allometric growth patterns of Seriola lalandi larvae were assessed to characterize normal growth patterns under culture conditions. Early ontogenetic stages of yellowtail kingfish exhibited an exponential growth in terms of standard length as a function of age. Five development stages were characterized from hatching to the juvenile stage: larval stage I (0–2 days post hatch, dph) with endogenous feeding, characterized by a small yolk sac, unpigmented eyes, primordial finfold surrounding the body and a closed mouth; larval stage II (2–15 dph) characterized by mouth opening, complete pigmentation of eyes and the beginning of the exogenous feeding; subsequently, in the larval stage III (15–25 dph) the posterior tip of notochord of the larvae bended upward and the first rays appeared in fins, concomitant with a change in swimming behaviour; thereafter, larval stage IV (post‐flexion stage; 25–30 dph) began when larvae resembled in morphology to a juvenile organism; however, caudal and dorsal fins were not completely development. Lastly, the juvenile stage was reached 30 dph characterized by a morphology and fin structures similar to those of the adults. Growth and development of structures and organs associated with vital functions such as feeding, sensorial and breathing systems seemed to be more critical previous to 23 dph, which was reflected with a positive allometric growth of head and eyes during this period. The results from this study can be used as a tool‐guide to assess normal development in larval research with S. lalandi to improve existing rearing protocols in hatchery production. 相似文献

采用实验生态学、形态测度和分子生物学的方法,研究了温度、盐度对大洋性经济鱼类黄条鰤(Seriola aureovittata)胚胎孵化率、初孵仔鱼畸形率、内源性营养吸收利用、生长基因表达、存活指数(SAI)和饥饿不可逆点(PNR)的影响,并对早期仔鱼活力进行了评价。结果显示,在最适水温20~22 ℃条件下,胚胎孵化率最高,达75%~81%,且初孵仔鱼畸形率低于6.7%,胚胎发育的温度系数Q10值最接近2,且初孵仔鱼全长和卵黄囊体积最大。受精卵在盐度>30时漂浮在水面,而在盐度为20~25时悬浮在水中,在盐度为10~15时下沉于水底部。受精卵胚胎发育的最适盐度范围为30~35,胚胎孵化率达79%~80%,初孵仔鱼畸形率低于6.0%。在4个不同温度条件下(18、20、22、24 ℃)初孵仔鱼卵黄囊吸收利用速率随着温度的升高而加快。不同盐度条件下,初孵仔鱼的SAI值表明,盐度为30~35时,仔鱼的SAI值较高且峰值出现在盐度为30组,而盐度为10组仔鱼SAI值最低。在水温为20~22 ℃时,6 d仔鱼的初次摄食率最高(78%),PNR出现在7~8 d。初孵仔鱼在水温为20~24 ℃、盐度为30~35条件下,IGF-1 mRNA表达水平显著高于其他实验组。饥饿条件下,IGF-1 mRNA在饥饿后第2天显著升高,其后在第3~4天显著下降,但仍保持较高表达水平,随着饥饿的进行继续下降至显著低于开口期表达水平。本研究明确了黄条鰤受精卵孵化的最适温度为20~22 ℃、最适盐度为30~35,并建立了初孵仔鱼活力评价的指标,研究结果可为建立规范化的黄条鰤胚胎孵化和苗种培育技术提供依据。 相似文献

A 5 week experiment was carried out with juvenile yellowtail kingfish Seriola lalandi to investigate the interactive effects of water temperature (21, 24, or 27°C) and dissolved oxygen regime (normoxic vs. hypoxic) on the growth rate, feed intake and digestive enzyme activity of this species. Specific growth rate (SGR) was highest at 24°C, regardless of oxygen regime, but the SGRs of the fish exposed to hypoxia at 21, 24 and 27°C were 13%, 20% and 17% lower, respectively, than the SGRs recorded for the fish reared under normoxic conditions. The digestive enzyme activities (i.e. trypsin, lipase and α‐amylase) were influenced by temperature but did not appear to be affected by dissolved oxygen concentration. Information about the effects of water temperature and dissolved oxygen on feeding, growth and digestive capacity of juvenile yellowtail kingfish could contribute to improving feed management decisions for production of this fish species under different environmental conditions. 相似文献

The ontogenetic development of size heterogeneity and aggression was monitored in commercial culture tanks of yellowtail kingfish (Seriola lalandi Valenciennes). Size heterogeneity increased substantially with the introduction of Artemia as a food source at 12 days post‐hatch (DPH), and was correlated with the appearance of aiming behaviour, a precursor to more direct aggressive interactions. Chasing behaviour started at approximately 19 DPH (10–12 mm total length), with the main aggressors being large‐grade individuals comprising 8% of the population. At any one time, only 10–30% of this grade carried out all of the chases, meaning that a very small proportion of the entire population (1%) was responsible for most of the aggressive interactions. The main recipients of aggression were the small grade, comprising 42% of the population, while the medium grade (50% of the population) were generally not aggressive and received only a low to moderate level of aggression. A grading trial showed that large‐grade juveniles only displayed aggressive behaviour in the presence of size heterogeneity, and that medium‐ or small‐grade juveniles did not establish an agonistic hierarchy in the absence of large individuals. A high level of aggression in the ungraded control treatment was associated with mortality of most of the small individuals. Even in the absence of aggression, the small‐grade juveniles failed to gain weight or show an increase in the RNA/DNA ratio after 12 days. The large‐ and medium‐grade larvae showed an isometric increase in RNA/DNA ratio during development, indicating that faster‐growing individuals are likely the result of better food capture or processing traits rather than better protein synthesis rates. Decreasing size heterogeneity and aggression via grading mostly benefits the medium‐grade individuals, as the majority of small individuals within a batch appear to be on a degenerative developmental trajectory irrespective of an aggressive environment. 相似文献

This study compared the efficacy of four products that are commonly used in hatchery for nutritional enhancement of rotifer Brachionus plicatilis as the starter food for yellowtail kingfish Seriola lalandi larvae. This experiment consisted of one fresh algae and three enrichment products: (1) Fresh algae were a mixture of Nannochloropsis and Isochrysis at 2:1 on a cell concentration basis; (2) S.presso, (Selco S.presso ®, INVE Aquaculture); (3) Algamac 3050® (Aquafauna, USA); (4) Nutrokol ® (Nutra‐Kol, Australia). Survival rates of the fish fed rotifers enriched with fresh microalgae (40.69%) and S.presso (31.21%) were higher than those fed Algamac 3050 (10.31%). On 3 day post hatch (DPH), fish feeding incidence in the fresh algae treatment was significantly higher than that in other treatments. On 6 DPH, fish showed the lowest feeding incidence in the Algamac 3050 treatment. The methods of enrichment did not affect total lipid levels in either rotifer or fish larvae, but Algamac 3050 enrichment achieved the highest DHA/EPA ratio and lowest EPA/ARA ratio in both rotifers and fish larvae. This study indicates that fresh algae can be replaced by S.presso, but Algamac 3050 is not as good as other formula for rotifer enrichment in rearing yellowtail kingfish larvae in this system. 相似文献

The spawning behaviour of wild caught brood stock as well as early egg and larval development were studied in yellowtail kingfish (Seriola lalandi). Spawning occurred naturally in the austral spring/summer (November-February) when the seawater temperature was above 17 °C. Courtship behaviour involved one male and female, and consisted of a high-speed pursuit punctuated by stalling, nipping and touching. This lasted for approximately 0.5-1.5 h until, immediately prior to spawning, the male would nip at the female gonoduct, presumably to induce spawning. At this stage, in 50% of spawns, a second male would become involved. The release of gametes involved frenzied circling behaviour near the bottom of the tank and lasted approximately 22 s. Spawning occurred in the early daylight hours at the start of the spawning season, but shifted to around dusk in the latter part. Spawned eggs were positively buoyant, had a high fertilisation rate (> 99%), ranged 1.33-1.50 mm in diameter with a single oil droplet 0.30-0.33 mm diameter, and developed in a similar manner to that described in congenerics. Egg viability within the floating fraction was visually determined to be 74% ± 17% over the entire reproductive season. Indistinct cell margins and asymmetrical cleavage were the most common blastomere deformities observed. Egg and oil droplet volume were found to decrease by 15-20% over the spawning season, though no relationship was found between visually assessed egg viability and date. Egg incubation trials between 16 and 24 °C indicated that temperature accelerated the time to hatch by a Q10 of 5.0. While larvae were found to hatch at a smaller length with a larger yolk sac and oil droplet at warmer incubation temperatures, there was little difference in the maximum larval length reached at the onset of first feeding among the rearing temperatures used. It is proposed that the reason for this was that higher incubation temperatures accelerated the hatching process faster than the rate of tissue deposition. The findings from this study are discussed in terms of the biological significance and implications for the larviculture of this species. 相似文献

Fish (175 g of initial weight) were fed in triplicated groups with four diets formulated by 0% (FO 100), 75% (FO 25) and 100% (with and without probiotics, FO 0 and FO 0+) of fish oil replacement consisting of a mixture of linseed, sunflower and palm oils. After 109 days, growth and nutritional parameters were not affected by the treatment; however, fish fed with 0% of fish oil showed the lowest survival rate and without differences between the same diet with probiotics. As for biometric parameters, significant differences in the viscerosomatic index (VSI) were observed between fish fed the FO 0+ diet and the FO 100 and FO 25 diets. Results obtained from histological analysis did not detect inflammation in gut samples, while liver samples showed a remarkable steatosis in all four treatments. Total fish oil replacement produced a significant difference in the width of the lamina propria. The dietary inclusion of probiotics in the FO 0+ diet seems to favour a recovery of intestine histology. In addition, as fish oil substitution increased, the width of the lamina propria also increased. In conclusion, it is possible to affirm that the four diets administrated to Seriola dumerili did not compromise the correct development of the animals. 相似文献

This study describes the effect of seasonal average temperatures (14 and 18°C) in the Ría of Vigo, on the utilization of external yolk over the last five Naef stages of development (XV–XX) for Octopus vulgaris embryos. Also, the transference of the outer yolk to the inner yolk sac, and its use during embryonic development and early life by O. vulgaris paralarvae. Temperature had a marked effect on embryonic development, except during stages XV–XIX (until the second inversion) where development time was the same (14 days), regardless of temperature. There were no significant differences in outer yolk decrease between consecutive Naef stages at 14°C and 18°C. Contrary, significant differences at all Naef stages from XV to XIX (both, with or without outer yolk) were observed for inner yolk between temperatures. A higher accumulation of inner yolk in embryos at 14°C was observed, due to lower yolk consumption. Paralarvae incubated at both temperatures were maintained independently at starvation during 4 days. At 18°C, a reduced accumulation of inner yolk, especially during Naef stage XIX, was observed. In 24 h old paralarvae, there was already significant higher inner yolk content at 14°C than at 18°C. Unfed paralarvae at 18°C lost weight faster than those at 14°C, due to higher energetic requirements. Finally, from these results, we propose a paralarvae rearing protocol during the first days after hatching and during the last five Naef stage (XV–XX) at lower temperatures, since the energy requirements are lower during the initial maturation stage. 相似文献

A need to improve larval rearing techniques led to the development of protocols for catecholamine‐induced settlement of flat oyster, Ostrea angasi, larvae. To further refine these techniques and optimize settlement percentages, the influence of salinity or temperature on development of O. angasi larvae was assessed using epinephrine‐induced metamorphosis. Larvae were reared between salinities of 15–35 and temperatures between 14.5 and 31°C. The greatest percentage survival, growth, development occurred when larvae were reared between 26 and 29°C and between salinities of 30 and 35. Larvae reared outside this salinity and temperature range exhibited reduced growth, survival and/or delayed development. Short‐term (1 h) reduction in larval rearing temperature from 26°C to 23.5°C significantly increased larval metamorphosis without affecting larval survival. Short‐term (1 h) increase in larval rearing temperature from 26°C to 29 and 31°C decreased larval survival and metamorphosis. To ensure repeatability in outcomes, tests showed that larvae sourced from different estuaries did not vary significantly in their metamorphic response to short‐term temperature manipulation and epinephrine‐induced metamorphosis. 相似文献
