Diflubenzuron, 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-(2,6-difluorobenzoyl)urea was used to control the pine looper population in about 1160 ha of Scots pine stand in eastern Finland in summer 1984. The control measure was effective, resulting in the collapse of the population in the treated area. Residues of diflubenzuron and two of its metabolites, 4-chloroaniline and 4-chlorophenylurea, were determined in water, pine needles, litter, humus, boleti and other wild mushrooms, bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus L.) and cowberry (Vaccinium vitis-idaea L.) samples taken from this area. In water samples taken from the treated area diflubenzuron was still detected at concentrations of 0.1 μg litre?1 2 months after application. No diflubenzuron was detected in this area the following year, nor outside the treated area. Neither metabolite was detected at any time. The sum of diflubenzuron and its metabolites in the litter layer was, on average, 0.7mg kg?1 both 1 week and 1 month after the application. The next year, however, it had increased to 1.4 mg kg?1. Diflubenzuron and its metabolites were not detected in the humus layer. The amount of diflubenzuron residues in the pine needles was, on average, 3.0 mg kg ?1 1 day after the application, but in 2 months the level had decreased to 0.2-0.3 mg kg ?1 or was not detectable. The following year the sum of diflubenzuron and its metabolites in two pine-needle samples was 0.3 and 1.6 mg kg ?1. The sum of diflubenzuron and its metabolites in wild mushrooms was, on average, 0.07 mg kg ?1 1 week after the application, but the following year no residues were detected. No residues were found in the boletus samples. The residues of diflubenzuron and its two metabolites in bilberries totalled, on average, 0.2 mg kg ?1 1 day after the application, and 6 μg kg ?1 the following year. The sum of diflubenzuron and metabolites in cowberries was, on average, 0.2 mg kg ?1 1 month after application.  相似文献

In laboratory experiments, whole wheat was treated with pirimiphos-methyl or carbaryl or combinations of these two insecticides; the treated grain was then adjusted to a 12% moisture content and stored at 25°C for bioassay at various intervals over a period of 39 weeks. Pirimiphos-methyl at 5.1 mg kg?1 effectively controlled Sitophilus granarius (L.) and Tribolium confusum Jacquelin du Val but was ineffective against Rhyzopertha dominica (F.) CRD 118, a strain showing malathion resistance. Conversely, carbaryl at 6.5 mg kg?1 (but not at 3.1 mg kg?1) was effective against R. dominica, but ineffective against the other two species. A combination of pirimiphosmethyl + carbaryl, at 1.8 + 5.1 mg kg?1, controlled S. granarius and R dominica but not T. confusum, whilst a 4.2 + 3.4 mg kg?1 combination was relatively more effective against T. confusum but less so against R. dominica. In a separate experiment, whole wheat was treated with carbaryl at 2.5, 5.0 and 7.5 mg kg?1 (nominal rates). Samples were stored and, at various times after the treatments, were bioassayed with R. dominica CRD 2, at 20, 25, 30 and 35°C. The results were comparable with those for the CRD 118 strain, but efficacy was reduced at higher temperatures. The combination of pirimiphos-methyl at 4–5 mg kg?1 and carbaryl at 5–6 mg kg?1 is suggested as a potentially useful grain protectant where R. dominica is a problem and long term storage is required. These results are discussed in relation to the protection of stored grain in Australia.  相似文献

Dosages (>10 ml mg−1 against Callosobruchus maculatus F. or Sitophilus zeamais Motsch; >20 ml kg−1 against Dermestes maculatus Deg.) of citruspeel oils reduced oviposition or larval emergence through parental adult mortality, but had no residual activity on the eggs or larvae produced by survivors. Oil-treated grains (7 ml kg−1 against C. maculatus) or dried fish (28 ml kg−1 against D. maculatus) which caused 100% mortality 1 h after application lost all activity within 24 h, thus confirming the non-residual nature of the effects. The activity of limepeel oil against test insects was found to be dependent on the time interval between the application of oil and start of bioassays. The non-volatile residues of limepeel oil were not toxic to insects on glass and dried-fish surfaces. Topical toxicity trials against D. maculatus adults also illustrated the relative unimportance of contact toxicity of citrus oils, as appreciable mortality (at application rates of up to 2 μl per insect) was obtained only when treated insects were confined in air-tight glass chambers. The volatility of toxic constituents in the oils was further illustrated by mortality of untreated C. maculatus adults confined in air-tight chambers with topically treated D. maculatus. A more efficient way to use citruspeel essential oils to control insects would be as a fumigant in relatively enclosed or air-tight systems.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Diaphorina citri populations in Florida are developing resistance to commonly used neurotoxic insecticides. Alternatives to neurotoxins, such as insect growth regulators, are needed to control this season-long subtropical pest to prevent or delay development of insecticide resistance. In the present investigation, two insect growth regulators (IGRs), buprofezin and diflubenzuron, were evaluated against various developmental stages of D. citri. RESULTS: The 0–1-day-old D. citri eggs were more susceptible to buprofezin and diflubenzuron than the 3–4-day-old eggs. Adult emergence was completely suppressed by treating first- or third-instar nymphs with buprofezin or diflubenzuron at 30–240 or 23–184 µg mL−1 rates respectively. Treatment of fifth-instar nymphs with diflubenzuron at a rate of 184 µg mL−1 and with buprofezin at 30–240 µg mL−1 rates resulted in approximately 20 and 15–80% reductions in adult emergence respectively. The mean number of eggs per plant was reduced at 5 days after topical treatment with diflubenzuron. Mean egg hatch per plant was reduced at 5 and 6–15 days after topical treatments with buprofezin and diflubenzuron respectively. CONCLUSION: Buprofezin and diflubenzuron effectively suppressed D. citri adult emergence. D. citri were more susceptible as early (first–third-instar) than late (fifth-instar) nymphs. Both IGRs inhibited egg production and egg hatch. Reduction in the number of subsequent offspring suggests reduced vertical transmission of Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus, the pathogen thought to cause citrus greening disease. The present results indicate that both IGRs tested here should be effective tools for rotation in insecticide-based D. citri management programs. Wettable powder formulations of the organophosphorus insecticides, fenitrothion and pirimiphos-methyl, and the pyrethroids, permethrin and deltamethrin, have been compared for persistence and activity on woven polypropylene fabric; the residues produced in maize kept under the test sheets have also been measured. The test insects were Sitophilus oryzue (L.) and Tribolium custuneum (Herbst). Permethrin at 41 and 83 mg m?2 was completely effective for the full 12 weeks of the experiment. Deltamethrin at 6.2 and 12.5 mg m?2 was almost equally effective but after 4 weeks the deposit was slower acting against S. oryzae. The organophosphorus compounds were effective only up to 2 weeks at 250 mg m?2 and up to 4 weeks at 500 mg m?2. No residues could be detected under the pyrethroids but the organophosphorus insecticides gave residues of 2–4 mg kg?1 on a thin layer of grain. This residue was biologically effective against the test insects.  相似文献

Field trials with various pesticide combinations were carried out on bulk wheat in commercial silos in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia. Laboratory bioassays on samples of treated grain at intervals over 8 months using malathion-susceptible and malathion-resistant strains established the following orders of efficacy: against Sitophilus oryzae (L.), chlorpyrifos-methyl 10 mg kg?1 + bioresmethrin 1 mg kg?1 = methacrifos 15 mg kg?1 in aerated storage > pirimiphos-methyl 4 or 6 mg kg?1 + bioresmethrin 1 mg kg?1 = bioresmethrin 4 mg kg?1 + piperonyl butoxide 16 mg kg?1; against Rhyzopertha dominica (F.), bioresmethrin 4 mg kg?1 + piperonyl butoxide 16 mg kg?1 > methacrifos 15 mg kg?1 > chlorpyrifos-methyl 10 mg kg?1 + bioresmethrin 1 mg kg?1 = pirimiphos-methyl 4 or 6 mg kg?1 + bioresmethrin 1 mg kg?1. All treatments completely prevented production of progeny in Sitophilus granarius (L.), Tribolium castaneum (Herbst), T. confusum Jackquelin du Val and Oryzaephilus surinamensis (L.). The biological efficacy of methacrifos was greater and the rate of degradation lower in aerated than in non-aerated storage. Residue levels of all compounds were determined chemically and were below proposed international residue levels to be considered by the Codex Alimentarius Commission.  相似文献

Duplicate experiments were carried out on bulk sorghum stored in South Queensland and in Central Queensland. Bioassays of treated grain, conducted during 6 months' storage, established that fenitrothion (12 mg kg?1)+ bioresmethrin (1 mg kg?1), and pirimiphos-methyl (4 mg kg?1)+ carbaryl (8 mg kg?1), controlled typical malathionresistant strains of Sitophilus oryzae (L.), Rhyzopertha dominica (F.), Tribolium castaneum (Herbst), and Ephestia cautella (Walker). Chlorpyrifos-methyl (10 mg kg?1)+ pyrethrins (1.5 mg kg?1)+ piperonyl butoxide (12 mg kg?1), and fenitrothion (12 mg kg?1)+ (1R)-phenothrin (1 mg kg?1), also controlled the strains of S. oryzae, T. castaneum and E. cautella, but were only partly effective against R. dominica. Methacrifos (15 mg kg?1) controlled all the tested species except E. cautella. Chemical assays established that the residues and rates of breakdown of these grain protectants on sorghum conformed to the general pattern for other cereal grains; residues from the above treatments were below the individual Maximum Residue Limits recommended by the Codex Alimentarius Commission.  相似文献

Duplicate field trials were carried out on bulk wheat in commercial silos in Queensland and New South Wales. Laboratory bioassays on samples of treated grain at intervals over 9 months, using malathion-resistant strains of insects, established that treatments were generally effective. Fenitrothion (12 mg kg?1)+ (1R)-phenothrin (2 mg kg?1) was more effective than pirimiphos-methyl (6 mg kg?1) + carbaryl (10 mg kg?1) against Sitophilus oryzae (L.) and Ephestia cautella (Walker); the order of effectiveness was reversed for S. granarius (L.). Against Rhyzopertha dominica (F.), Tribolium castaneum (Herbst), T. confusum Jackquelin du Val and Oryzaephilus surinamensis (L.), both treatments effectively prevented the production of progeny. The order of persistence was pirimiphos-methyl> (1R)-phenothrin>carbaryl or fenitrothion. During processing from wheat to white bread, residues were reduced by 98% for carbaryl, >44% for (1R)-phenothrin, 98% for fenitrothion and 85% for pirimiphosmethyl.  相似文献

Organophosphorothioates and synergised synthetic pyrethroids were used in duplicate field trials carried out on bulk wheat in commercial silos in Queensland and New South Wales. Laboratory bioassays using malathion-resistant strains of insects were carried out on samples of treated grain at intervals over 9 months. These established that all treatments were generally effective. Deltamethrin (2 mg kg?1)+ piperonyl butoxide (8 mg kg?1), fenitrothion (12 mg kg?1)+ fenvalerate (1 mg kg?1)+ piperonyl butoxide (8 mg kg?1), fenitrothion (12 mg kg?1)+ phenothrin (2 mg kg?1)+ piperonyl butoxide (8 mg kg?1) and pirimiphos-methyl (4 mg kg?1)+ permethrin (1 mg kg?1)+ piperonyl butoxide (8 mg kg?1) controlled common field strains of Sitophilus oryzae (L.) and Rhyzopertha dominica (F.). Against a highly resistant strain of S. oryzae, deltamethrin (2 mg kg?1)+ piperonyl butoxide (8 mg kg?1) was superior to the remaining treatments. All treatment combinations completely prevented progeny production in Tribolium castaneum (Herbst), T. confusum Jacquelin du Val and in Ephestia cautella (Walker). Residues of deltamethrin, fenvalerate, permethrin and phenothrin were determined and shown to be highly persistent on stored wheat. During milling, residues accumulated in the bran fractions and were reduced in white flour. They were not significantly reduced during baking.  相似文献

Larvae of the lesser date moth (Batrachedra amydraula Meyr.) cause damage to dates in Iraq. A formulation based on a mixture of equal parts of wheat flour and pollen grains and containing either chlorpyrifos, fenitrothion or pirimiphos-methyl (all at 5 mg kg?l) was dusted (5 g formulation bunch?1) onto female clusters of dates at the time of pollination. Numbers of larvae, yield of dates and insecticide residues were monitored over a three-month period. Results showed that, by this technique, all three insecticides were effective in controlling the pest but that fenitrothion and chlorpyrifos were better than pirimiphos-methyl.  相似文献

BACKROUND: Fipronil is an insecticidal pyrazole that is commonly used as an insecticide in field crops, urban pesticide and veterinary medicine, but there are no reports of its evaluation against stored‐product insects. Three series of laboratory bioassays were conducted to assess fipronil as a potential grain protectant against adults of Sitophilus oryzae (L.), Tribolium confusum Jacquelin du Val, Rhyzopertha dominica (F.) and Prostephanus truncatus (Horn). Factors such as dose (0.01, 0.1, 1 and 10 mg fipronil kg?1 grain), exposure interval (24 h, 48 h, 7 days and 14 days), temperature (20, 25 and 30 °C), relative humidity (RH; 55 and 65%) and commodity (wheat, maize, barley and paddy rice) were evaluated with regard to their impact on the insecticidal activity of fipronil. Progeny production was assessed after 64 days of exposure. RESULTS: At doses of < 1 mg fipronil kg?1 grain, efficacy of fipronil was enhanced by an increase in temperature from 20 to 25 °C against S. oryzae or R. dominica for exposures of > 48 h and against T. confusum or P. truncatus for exposures of > 24 h. A further increase in temperature from 25 to 30 °C, although it enhanced efficacy at doses of < 1 mg fipronil kg?1 grain against S. oryzae at all exposure intervals and against T. confusum after 7 days of exposure, it was negatively associated with efficacy against R. dominica or P. truncatus for exposures of > 24 h. By contrast, increase in RH did not have a significant impact on efficacy of fipronil. Although the performance of fipronil among the tested commodities was species dependent, this substance appeared to be less effective in paddy rice than in barley, maize and wheat. Regardless of the treated commodity, progeny production of all the tested species was almost suppressed with doses higher than 0.1 mg fipronil kg?1 grain. CONCLUSIONS: Fipronil appeared to be a very effective alternative to the existing substances in stored‐grain protection at doses equal to or higher than 1 mg fipronil kg?1 grain, and thus these doses require further evaluation in terms of safety for the consumer and residues on stored products. In an extension of previous work, deposits and residues of binapacryl, bupirimate and diflubenzuron on mature foliage and the peel of developing fruit of Worcester and Cox apple trees were monitored throughout the 1980 season following applications by mistblower sprayer. The three compounds were applied as commercial formulations in trials to compare integrated pest management with routine farm spray programmes. In contrast to previous results, all three compounds persisted on foliage until leaf-fall and were detected on the peel of harvested fruit. The mean residue of diflubenzuron on harvested Worcester fruit was 0.05 mg kg?1 fresh weight and on harvested Cox fruit was 0.02 mg kg?1 fresh weight. Binapacryl and bupirimate were present on harvested fruit of both cultivars. The unexpectedly long persistence of these chemicals in 1980 remains unexplained, but may be due to climatic factors.  相似文献

Methods are described for the extraction and analysis by gas-liquid and high-pressure liquid chromatography of the fungicide imazalil, 1-(β-allyloxy-2, 4-dishlorophenethyl) imidazole, on potatoes. Before storage, over 80% was recovered from potatoes treated with 0.01–3.0 mg imazalil kg?1, with a detection limit of 2 μg kg?1. Imazalil applied to potatoes at 10 g t?1 before storage decreased the incidence of gangrene (Phoma exigua), silver scurf (Helminthosporium solani), skin spot (Polyscytalum pustulans) and black scurf (Rhizoctonia solani), and was at least as effective as thiabendazole applied at 40 g t?1. At 1 g t?1 it also decreased skin spot and silver scurf. Incidence of black dot (Colletotrichum coccodes) was unaffected by these fungicide treatments.  相似文献

This study assessed the toxicity and mode of action of a new experimental insecticide, LY219048 in insects and mammals. LY219048 produced rapid convulsions in mice and had LD50 values of 0.7 mg kg?1 and 4 mg kg?1 after intracerebral and intraperitoneal injection, respectively. In initial screens against insects, LY219048 showed low activity against the German cockroach (Blatella germanica L.). Lethality from dietary exposure required one to two weeks, even at concentrations as high as 10000 mg kg?1 (LC50 = 485 mg kg?1). In contrast, it had an LC50 value of 8.3 mg kg?1 against insecticide-susceptible Drosophila melanogaster (Meig.) when synergized with piperonyl butoxide. Significant resistance to LY219048 (> 12-fold) was detected in a cyclodiene-resistant strain of D. melanogaster possessing an altered target site resistance mechanism. This finding suggested that LY219048 blocked the 4-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-gated chloride channel in a manner similar to that of the cyclodienes. In physiological studies in larval D. melanogaster central neurons, LY219048 antagonized the reduction of firing caused by 1 mM GABA. Dose-response experiments showed that the ED50 for blocking inhibition under these conditions was c. 1 μ. Studies of 36CI uptake into bovine brain synaptosomes found that LY219048 was a potent antagonist. At 10 μ it completely blocked chloride flux stimulated by 50 μM GABA. LY219048 competitively displaced [3H]TBOB binding from bovine brain membranes, with an IC50 of 42 nM, which was comparable to values determined for TBPS (35 nM) and picrotoxinin (267 nM). There was little or no displacement (<25%) of [3H]flunitrazepam or [3H]muscimol binding by 10 μM LY219048. Taken together, these results provide strong evidence that this new chemical class of insecticide manifests its acute toxicity by blocking the GABA-gated chloride channel.  相似文献

The study deals with the effect of common, annually-used pesticides on soil microorganisms, pesticide residues in soil, and carrot (Daucus carota) yields in Central Finland. Linuron residues in carrot roots were also analysed. Thiram+lindane and dimethoate were applied from 1973–1981 at the commercially recommended doses on experimental plots of carrots, linuron was applied at twice the recommended rate from 1973–1979 and at the normal rate thereafter and in addition TCA was applied in 1978. Maleic hydrazide was used in the years 1973–1976, and glyphosate after 1977. The numbers of different soil microorganisms, their activities and the pesticide residues were studied from autumn 1978 to 1981. The pesticide treatments reduced the growth of soil algae but increased the total number of microorganisms and the number of aerobic spore-forming bacteria. Linuron residues in the soil were 0.9–2.8 mg kg?1 in the growing season and 1.2–1.7 mg kg?1 in the autumn, 3 months after application. The residues of glyphosate in the soil were 0.7 mg kg?1 in the autumn, 41 days after the treatment, and had declined to a level of about 0.2 mg kg?1 by the following summer. In the pesticide-treated plots the carrot yield was only 20–60% of the yield in the hand-weeded plots. The herbicide programme controlled most of the annual weeds but not couchgrass Elymus repens and milk sow-thistle Sonchus arvensis.  相似文献

Diflubenzuron, 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-(2,6-difluorobenzoyl)urea, possesses larvicidal and ovicidal activities. On larvae it acts mainly as a stomach poison, yet it sometimes exhibits important contact activity. Though all instars can be controlled, older instars are generally less susceptible than younger ones. Histological inspections of Leptinotarsa decemlineata larvae revealed that after ending exposure to the compound, distortions in newly deposited cuticular layers decreased gradually. Ovicidal effects resulted from direct contact of diflubenzuron with eggs or from contamination of females by contact or feeding. Electron microscopic observations of embryos of Leptinotarsa decemlineata, contaminated via the female, also showed disturbed cuticule formation, suggesting a similar activity of the compound in larvae and in eggs. Spraying the eggs of Leucoptera scitella shows the compound to be mainly ovidical at a rate of 100 mg litre?1, whilst with lower concentrations (10 and 1 mg litre?1) the young larval instar will be killed. The levels of cross-resistance to diflubenzuron as a larvicide are low and the compound can be used effectively in the field against populations that are highly resistant to conventional insecticides. Laboratory and field results, based on larvicidal and ovicidal activities of diflubenzuron, are discussed in respect of species belonging to the Diptera, Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, Acarina (Phyllocoptruta oleivora) and Hemiptera (Eurydema oleraceum and Psylla piri).  相似文献

Ephestia elutella larvae in diapause were exposed at 25°C to methyl bromide at 12 mg litre?1 for 3.5 or 7.5 h and then immediately exposed to a lower concentration. The minimum effective concentration (that at which Haber's rule, concentration × time = k, a constant for mortality, still applied) was about 3 mg litre?1 in tests with no previous exposure toa high concentration, but it was about 2.5 mg litre?1 for individuals surviving a 3.5 h exposure to 12 mg litre?1, and was about 1.6 mg litre?1 for those surviving a 7.5 h exposure to 12 mg litre?1. These exposures to 12 mg litre?1, respectively, killed 2–20% and 50–75% of larvae exposed, and hence the smaller the proportion of survivors of exposure to a high concentration, the lower the minimum effective concentration needed against them. Thus the low concentration persisting at the end of a practical fumigation should contribute significantly to the success of the treatment and be much more effective than any similar low concentration present soon after the introduction of gas.  相似文献

The build-up and decline of quintozene and hexachlorobenzene residues in protected lettuce, resulting from one to five treatments of the soil (each of 35 g m-2) with a quintozene formulation, have been studied. Residue levels were monitored in each experimental crop during growth until harvest. Residues in the soil at harvest were also determined. Quintozene residues in the harvested lettuce were in the range < 0.02–0.80 mg kg?1 and those of hexachlorobenzene were in the range < 0.02–0.05 mg kg?1 (expressed on a fresh weight basis). Residue levels in the soil were 5.4–231 mg kg?1 for quintozene, and 0.20–5.4 mg kg?1 for hexachlorobenzene (expressed on a dry weight basis). Under the experimental conditions of the trial there was no significant build-up of quintozene or hexachlorobenzene in harvested lettuce, even after five treatments to the same site.  相似文献

In-vivo tests of non-volatile nematicides using a fungal-feeding nematode Aphelenchus avenae were shown to be more reliable than in-vitro tests. Phoxim and carbofuran were as effective as thionazin against the stem nematode Ditylenchus dipsaci in preventing eggs being laid, but they did not prevent nematodes from migrating from treated plants. Aldicarb and phoxim delayed the emergence of second-stage juveniles from cysts of the potato cyst nematode Globodera rostochiensis; phoxim at 8 mg kg?1 of soil gave the same results as aldicarb at 2 mg kg?1 of soil and both chemicals altered the sex ratio in the final population. A simple pot-test with G. rostochiensis in foul soil types was used to demonstrate the comparative effectiveness of non-volatile nematicides.  相似文献

A method is described for the estimation of residues of the carbamate insecticide promacyl [5-methyl-m-cumenyl butyryl(methyl)carbamate] and its metabolites that are hydrolysable to isothymol (m-cymen-5-ol), using high-performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection to determine the isothymol. Clean-up of samples relied on the steam volatility of phenols. Recoveries at the 0.1 mg kg?1 level varied from 72–88% for fat tissue and 81–91% for liver. The limits of detection were found to be 0.01 mg kg?1 for and 0.02 mg kg?1 for liver. A comparative study of the chromatography of sample extracts using both ultraviolet detection and electrochemical detection showed a substantial decrease in the level of interfering co-eluates in the latter method. A field trial, involving a single spray application of the formulated acaricide on milking cattle, revealed residues in the butter fat comparable with those found in a previous investigation.  相似文献
