‘Alaska’ and ‘Redwing’ azaleas having dormant flower buds were sprayed with gibberellins (GA3 or GA4 + 7) alone and in combination with thiourea, N6 benzyl adenine (BA) or kinetin weekly for 3 or 4 weeks to test the efficacy of these materials in breaking bud dormancy. Additional plants received 6 weeks of cold storage at 4.5°C or glasshouse day temperatures of 21°C and above. The 2000 and 3000 mg l?1 GA3 and Ga4 + 7 sprays were better than 1000 mg l?1 in promoting flowering, with ‘Redwing’ responding better than ‘Alaska’. GA-treated plants flowered in fewer days than those receiving cold storage. Flower diameter and pedicel length increased with higher levels of GA, and flower uniformity was comparable to cold-stored plants on most GA-treated ‘Redwing’-plants. Thiourea, BA and kinetin applied alone had no effect and considerable cytokinin activity was highest in GA-treated buds 14–21 days after treatment application. No increase in activity occurred on plants not receiving GA.  相似文献

Exogenous growth substances (GA4+7, IAA, PBA, and ABA) alone and in combination were applied as leaf dips to young ‘Golden Delicious’ apple trees in a growth room at 21 °C. All treatments containing GA4+7 accelerated the incidence of physiological leaf spot over treatments without GA4+7, ABA alone delayed the appearance of leaf spot. PBA, PBA + GA4+7, and PBA + GA4+7 + IAA retarded the abscission of spotted leaves.GA4+7 and GA4+7 + PBA also accelerated leaf spot development in bearing ‘Golden Delicious’ trees in the orchard.Fumigation of apple trees with ethylene at 2, 10, and 20 ppm had no influence on the occurrence of leaf spot or premature abscission.  相似文献

Leaf buds of Japanese pear were collected in early June and early November and regarded as summer and winter dormant buds, respectively. Bud explants with and without scales were prepared from each of them, and cultured in vitro for 75 days at 25°C with 14 h photoperiod, on a medium either without growth regulators, or supplied with BA and GAs (GA3 and GA4+7), singly or in combination. When either BA or GA4+7 was contained in the medium, bud expansion occurred. Thereafter, summer dormant buds grew into shoots in the presence of BA, while winter dormant buds, although they swelled profusely, remained in a rosette. In the presence of BA, GA4+7 markedly stimulated shoot elongation of summer dormant buds, but GA3 did not. In winter dormant buds, GA4+7 not only failed to stimulate shoot elongation, but also interfered with the BA-induced swelling described above. The presence of bud scales delayed expansion of summer dormant buds, while it had little effect on winter dormant buds. The delaying effect of scales on expansion of summer buds was effectively removed by application of GA4+7 to the medium.  相似文献

Applications of growth regulators to detached peach laterals in winter had variable effects on flower bud abscission. GA3 and GA4+7 increased bud abscission while IAA, BA and ABA inhibited abscission. Ethephon had a variable effect. Interactions were obtained between the compounds generally with IAA or GA playing the major role. GA had a peak of activity during a critical period in late winter indicating a variation in responsiveness. Variations in sensitivity to GA were obtained for different cultivars. Field applications of GA3, GA4+7, and ethephon to Elberta peach trees in winter, alone and in various combinations, promoted bud abscission.  相似文献

The effects of cold storage of mature potted plants on postharvest leaf and flower quality were investigated in several cultivars of three major groups (Oriental, Asiatic and LA) of hybrid lilies (Lilium spp.). Mature plants were stored in darkness at 3 °C for 2 weeks before placing them in a postharvest evaluation room (22 °C) and were compared with plants moved directly to the evaluation room. The efficacy of GA4+7 plus benzyladenine (BA) treatments (applied just before cold storage) for preventing cold-induced postharvest disorders in each cultivar was also evaluated. In all cultivars, cold storage caused several adverse effects on postharvest quality, including accelerated leaf yellowing or browning, bud abortion and reduced flower or inflorescence longevity. Leaf abscission was observed only in Oriental-hybrids. Treatment with GA4+7 plus BA significantly reduced these disorders and improved the overall postharvest quality after cold storage. While different cultivars differed greatly in their sensitivity to cold storage, all the cultivars benefited from GA4+7 plus BA treatment. Experiments indicated that GA4+7 plus BA treatments could be applied as early as 2 weeks before the mature bud stage without compromising the positive effects.  相似文献

The present study was carried out to improve fruit set, yield, quality, marketability, and exportability of ‘Washington’ Navel orange. Pre-harvest foliar sprays of GA3, K, and Ca, either alone or combined, were applied at full bloom. The following treatments were applied: {control (T1), 25 mg/L GA3 (T2), 2% K2SO4 (T3), 25 mg/L GA3 + 2% K2SO4 (T4), 25 mg/L GA3 + 2% Ca Cl2 (T5), 2% K2SO4 + 2% Ca Cl2 (T6), and 25 mg/L GA3 + 2% K2SO4 + 2% Ca Cl2 (T7). All treatments improved fruit set, yield, physical and chemical characteristics, mineral content of leaves and fruit rind, and the percentage of exportable fruit in comparison to the control. Fruit set, fruit detachment force, peel firmness, and the mineral content of leaves and fruit rind were enhanced significantly with the combination of GA3 + K2SO4 + Ca Cl2 (T7) in comparison to all other treatments and the control. Results indicated that all foliar combination treatments improved fruit quality and marketability, and increased the percentage of exportable fruit and reduced the defects of non-exportable fruit.  相似文献

Single spray applications of 100 ppm of a mixture of the gibberellins A4 and A7 (GA4 + 7) were made on fruiting spurs of the apple cultivar Cox's Orange Pippin to investigate the effect on set, June drop and growth of fruits, as well as on shoot development and flower-bud formation on the bourses. Applications were made from 1 to 50 days after full bloom following partial hand-pollination of flowers, i.e. two stigmas per flower pollinated. In another experiment applications were made from 1 to 20 days after full bloom following complete (five stigmas per flower) or partial (two stigmas per flower) hand-pollination, after open pollination, or on emasculated flowers.GA4 + 7 only temporarily increased fruit set after open pollination or after effemination of flowers, and then only after application 1 day after full bloom. GA4 + 7 did not affect the very high fruit set after complete or partial hand-pollination. Both latter pollination treatments induced an equally high fruit set.GA4 + 7 reduced June drop significantly whenever fruits were left after first drop, except after early applications following open pollination. GA4 + 7 was effective in June-drop reduction up to 40 days after full bloom, i.e. until the onset of the June drop.Fruit size was not clearly affected by GA4 + 7. The smaller fruits obtained in some cases after GA treatment could be explained by assuming that maturity was reached by fruits that would have abscised without an exogenous GA4 + 7 supply. GA4 + 7 also increased seed abortion. Fruit length was increased by GA4 + 7 only for applications made up to 20 days after full bloom.GA4 + 7 stimulated bourse-shoot development to some extent. Flower-bud formation on the bourses was not clearly affected by GA4 + 7, but was markedly influenced by the presence of fruits. That GA4 + 7 reduced June drop so much in spite of a slight promotive effect on bourse-shoot growth and a slight abortive action on seeds suggests that these gibberellins may be specific stimuli for apple-fruit growth after actual fruit set is achieved.  相似文献

Brunonia australis R. Br (Goodeniaceae) and Calandrinia (Portulacaceae), native to Australia, are potential new flowering potted plants. This research investigated the role of daylength and growth regulators, Gibberellic acid (GA3) and paclobutrazol (Pac), to control vegetative growth, peduncle elongation and flowering of Brunonia and Calandrinia. Plants were grown under long days (16 h), short days (11 h) and 8 weeks under short day then transferred to long day (SDLDs). Plants in each daylength were treated with GA3, Pac, and GA3+ Pac. GA3 was applied as 10 μL drop of 500 mg L−1 concentration to the newest mature leaf. A single application of Pac was applied as a soil drench at 0.25 mg a.i. dose per plant. Both Brunonia and Calandrinia flowered earlier in long days but still flowered in short days, so both can be classified as facultative LD plants. Brunonia under SDLDs were more vigorous and attractive than plants under LDs while still being more compact than plants under SDs. In Brunonia, GA3 promoted earlier flowering and increased the number of inflorescences under SDs. Pac at 0.25 mg a.i. per plant applied alone or in combination with GA3 had extended flower development in Brunonia, and resulted in a reduced number of inflorescences per plant compared to the control plants. Vegetative growth of Calandrinia was similar under LDs, SDs and SDLDs, whereas GA3 application increased plant size. Pac-treated Calandrinia looked compact and attractive, and Pac application did not affect time to flower and flower number.  相似文献

Lychnis senno is a rare and valued ornamental plant. Seed propagation is not efficient because of the low germination rate. To grow commercially L. senno in China, a protocol for in vitro germination and propagation of this species was developed. Various germination rates were obtained by treating seeds with GA3 during 1–6 months storage period. The highest germination rate reached 19.4% when seeds were treated with 250 mg/l GA3 and stored for 5 months at 4 °C. Axillary shoot proliferation was induced in the nodal segments of the seedlings on medium containing specific concentrations of BA and NAA [Murashige, T., Skoog, F., 1962. A revised medium for rapid growth and bioassays with tobacco tissue culture. Physiol. Plant 15, 473–497]. Maximum number of shoots was developed on a medium supplemented with 5 mg/l BA and 0.5 mg/l NAA, while the higher shoots were observed on a medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/l BA and 0.05 mg/l NAA. Rooting was induced in 91.7% of the regenerated explants on a half-strength MS medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/l NAA. The plantlets grew well and flowered after transfer to the greenhouse. The chromosome numbers of seedlings and propagated plants were also determined to be 2n = 2x = 24.  相似文献

A study was made of the influences of gibberellic acid (GA3), 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and 6-benzylaminopurine (BA) on leafy inflorescences — and of GA3 on entire trees — on fruit-set and fruit-weight of Clementine mandarin (Citrus reticulata Blanco).Applying GA3 to inflorescences of cultivar ‘Fino’ (seedless Clementine) between anthesis and 14 days after anthesis increased fruit-set and weight of the fruits at harvest. No significant differences in effects were observed between the application to leaves, to flowers or to leaves and flowers simultaneously. GA3 induced the development of parthenocarpic fruits of cultivar ‘Monreal’ (Clementine with seeds) and a fruit-set similar to that obtained with self-pollination. Spraying GA3 (5–200 mg/l) to entire trees of cultivar ‘Fino’ increased the number of fruits per tree and decreased the average weight of the fruits. However, the commercial yield per tree increased with the concentration of GA3 employed. The application of 2,4-D and BA to inflorescences of cultivar ‘Fino’ increased fruit-setting and weight of the fruits, although not as efficiently as GA3, both the concentration and the time of application being more critical.  相似文献

Qualities of Indian gooseberry fruits (Phyllanthus emblica L.) were determined after dip-treatment with wax emulsion (WE) with or without morphactin (Mor) and gibberellic acid (GA3). Dip-treatments with 100–500 mg l?1 Mor reduced marketability by inducing browning and high weight loss, but loss in ascorbic acid was checked and phenols increased. 10 mg l?1 Mor maintained marketability at par with control, effectively controlled loss in ascorbic acid, and increased acidity and reducing sugars. GA3, although failing to control the loss of ascorbic acid, was effective in checking browning and thereby increased the market value of fruits as compared with controls and Mor-treated fruits.WE with or without Mor (10 mg l?1) controlled browning, accumulation of phenols and losses in weight and moisture as compared with 10 mg l?1 Mor, 100 mg l?1 GA3, or control, but could not retain ascorbic acid in comparison to 10 mg l?1 Mor-treated fruits. Marketability of fruits having had treatment with either WE or GA3 was the same. Fruits having had combined treatment with WE and 10 mg l?1 Mor had maximum marketability. Minimum marketability was observed in fruits subjected to a combined treatment of WE + 100 mg l?1 GA3 due to maximum infection with Aspergillus spp. and Penicillium spp.  相似文献

Partly cooled (5°C) tulip ‘Apeldoorn’ were treated with gibberellins GA3 and GA4 + 7 by vacuùm infiltration, with a view to defining conditions suitable for exploiting the effects of GA on forced tulips (faster flowering, control of stem extension, reduction of floral bud blasting). The first experiment showed that GA3 and GA4 + 7 were equally effective in reducing the glasshouse period following 6 or more weeks cold storage; with less than 6 weeks cold storage, effects were less marked. Stem length at flowering was reduced by GA treatments, particularly by GA3 and following more than 6 weeks cold storage. However, the vacuum infiltration method used (30 min at 10 torr) resulted in serious flower losses.Next, the effect of GA3 concentration (up to 1500 mg 1?1) was studied using vacuum infiltration treatments for 1–15 min at 20–510 torr, which resulted in fewer flower losses. Following 4 weeks cold storage, reducing pressure or increasing GA3 concentration reduced both glasshouse period and stem length, with no effect of duration of treatment; GA3 concentration was the only factor affecting flower length, which was increased. Following 8 weeks cold storage, increasing GA3 concentration, vacuum or duration reduced glasshouse period. With all 3 factors at their maximum levels, 16 days earliness was obtained compared with controls. With maximum earliness, stem length was reduced to about 23 cm, compared to about 26 cm for treatments giving about 1 week's earliness, and 32 cm for untreated controls. Increasing vacuum appeared the most economical way of obtaining earliness, 20 torr giving 7 days earliness even at only 250 mg GA3 1?1. Treatments giving earlier flowering also gave larger flowers. For comparison, there was little effect of soaking bulbs at atmospheric pressure even at 500 mg GA3 1?1 for up to 20 h.Further experiments, conducted with vacuum infiltration at 260 torr for 15 min, confirmed these GA effects using formulated GA3 (as “Berelex”) and GA4 + 7 (as “Regulex”). Effects of GA on stem length at flowering had disappeared by the time stems reached their final length. Comparisons with bulb injection of GA showed that this method required less GA than vacuum infiltration for similar effects, and that the greater effectiveness of GA4 + 7 compared with GA3 was less marked using vacuum infiltration.  相似文献

Foliar applications of gibberellins (GA3, GA4,7) and 6-benzylamino-9-(2-tetra- hydropyranyl)-9H-purine (PBA) were compared with untreated controls and the conventional low temperature treatment for breaking flower bud dormancy. GA3 and GA4, 7 were compared for their role in promoting flower development. Treatments were initiated when microscopic examination showed the flower buds had reached Stage 6 (style elongated and closed). Plants that did not receive a dormancy-breaking treatment failed to reach anthesis. Application of GA3 or GA4, 7 hastened flowering and increased flower size and pedicel length.  相似文献

Gibberellins production by soil fungi received little attention, although substantial work has been carried out on other growth promoting aspects of soil borne fungi. We investigated gibberellins production and growth promoting capacity of a novel fungal strain of Neosartorya, which was isolated from the roots of Chinese cabbage (Bassica rapa L. ssp. pekinensis). Fungal culture filtrates (CF) obtained from pure cultures of 16 endophytic fungi were bioassayed on Waito-C, in order to investigate plant growth promoting capacity of these fungi. The fungal isolate CC-8 induced maximum shoot length of Waito-C (13.0 cm) as compared to control treatments. In a separate experiment, the CF of fungus CC-8 significantly promoted plant length and biomass of Chinese cabbage. The fungal CF also increased endogenous bioactive GA1 and GA4 contents of Chinese cabbage. Gibberellin analysis of CF of CC-8 showed presence of both physiologically active and non active gibberellins in higher concentrations (GA1, 1.42 ng/ml; GA3, 5.93 ng/ml; GA4, 11.36 ng/ml; GA7, 3.25 ng/ml; GA9, 0.79 ng/ml; GA15, 1.18 ng/ml). The culture filtrate of CC-8 produced higher amounts of GA3, GA4, GA7 and GA9 than wild type Fusarium fujikuroi, a well known gibberellins producing fungus. The fungal isolate CC-8 was later identified as a new strain of Neosartorya species on the basis of traditional and advance molecular techniques.  相似文献

Control of regular cropping in apple is considered critical for fruit growers to ensure their economical sustainability. Irregular flowering can be mitigated by plant growth regulators thanks to their promotion or inhibition effects. In this study, responses of GA4+7 and ethephon on alternate bearing in ‘Golden Delicious’/M9 were examined. GA4+7 and ethephon were applied on the same trees during three consecutive years (2010–12). Flowering, yield, shoot growth, and also some fruit quality parameters were assessed. GA4+7 appeared to be more effectual to regulate alternate bearing. The alternate bearing index calculated with yield in successive years was high in control (0.91), moderate in ethephon (0.71), and low in GA4+7 treated trees (0.41). Modified alternate bearing index, based on cluster number, indicated moderate intensity in GA4+7 (0.53) and high intensity in the others. Although GA4+7 reduced crop density at about 50%, there was little variation in yield per tree and crop efficiency due to increasing of fruit size. GA4+7 did not increase shot length after establishment of equilibrium between vegetative and generative growth in 2012. Ethephon slightly reduced vegetative growth and relatively increased fruit size due to the decrease of fruit set.  相似文献

The influence of soil drench applications of ancymidol (0.5 mg), GA3 (25 mg), and Ga4+7 (25 mg) was determined on the growth and development of the tulip under greenhouse conditions. Ancymidol applied on greenhouse day 1 or 6 significantly reduced the total length of the scape. Maximum reduction in growth occurred in the first internode, with a declining effect on internodes 2, 3 and 4. GA4+7 applied simultaneously with ancymidol completely reversed the ancymidol effects. GA3 was relatively ineffective. Compared to control plants, ancymidol reduced the number of cell divisions in the first internode, but not in the fourth internode. Cells of ancymidol treated plants were reduced in length and exhibited greater radial expansion. Ancymidol reduced the fresh weight of the stem and tended to conserve the fresh weight of the mother scales. The effect on the leaves and roots was variable. Ancymidol tended to increase the fresh weight of the daughter bulblets. There was no significant effect of ancymidol or the GA's on floral morphology or the number of days to flower in the greenhouse.  相似文献

Sambucus caerulea (elder) seeds did not germinate after 4°C cool treatments for up to 30 days, when monitored for a further 30 days at 21°C. When seeds were soaked for 24 h in gibberellic acid (GA3) prior to and during cold treatment, germination percentage depended on GA3 concentration and duration of cold treatment. The highest germination percentage was 55 (1000 mg l−1 GA3 for 30 days at 4°C). When seeds were treated with ethephon at 0, 100 or 1000 mg l−1, no germination was recorded after a subsequent 30-day 4°C treatment. Ethephon added to GA3 gave a strong interaction, leading to further promotion in germination. Optimal germination was obtained after 1000 mg l−1 GA3 and 100 mg l−1 ethephon for 30 days at 4°C (69%).The addition of ethanol, acetone, dimethyl sulfoxide or polyethylene glycol to the GA3 soak as infusion agents either reduced or did not change the germination percentage.  相似文献

Sprays with 250–2000 mg l?1 propyl 3-t-butylphenoxy acetate (MB 25,105) and 250 and 500 mg l?1 GA4+7 + 6-benzyladenine (Promalin) were applied to scion growth of first nursery trees of ‘Bartlett’ pear (Pyrus communis L.), ‘Bing’ cherry (Prunus avium L.) and ‘Oregon Spur II Delicious’ apple (Malus domestica Borkh.) to stimulate lateral branching in the nursery. Most treatments significantly increased branching compared to untreated controls. Combination sprays of the two chemicals were usually better than either used alone. Chemical treatment usually produced greater branching and wider branch angles than mechanical heading. Both chemical and mechanical treatments reduced tree height and caliper, but the decrease was not always statistically significant.  相似文献

Seed collections of the wild relatives of cultivated blackberry and raspberry (Rubus species) are maintained at the National Clonal Germplasm Repository, Corvallis, OR. Information on wild species germination requirements is rarely available, and germination may be poor or slow, making it difficult for scientists to use them for breeding improved cultivars. Eight diverse Rubus species in 6 of the 12 Rubus subgenera from seed stored at −20 °C for 1–23 years were studied. Seed weight, seed-coat thickness and hardness varied widely. Scarification with sulfuric acid (98% H2SO4) or sodium hypochlorite (14% NaOCl) was followed by germination treatments of deionized water (DI), smoke gas or a combination of gibberellic acid (2.03 mg/L GA3) and potassium nitrate (34 mg/L KNO3) during stratification. The commonly used scarification protocols were not effective for many species; but effective scarification exposure was established based on the amount of embryo damage seen with 2,3,5 triphenyl tetrazolium chloride (TZ) viability testing. H2SO4 scarification followed by a treatment with KNO3 and GA3 during stratification was highly effective for the most species. Two species in subgenus Anoplobatus had a hilar-end hole that allowed rapid germination of unscarified seed. Some species with extremely hard seed coats had little or no germination, and longer scarification times are suggested based on seed size, seed-coat thickness and hardness and viability testing.  相似文献

In order to obtain normal seedlings of peach cultivar ‘Sharbati’ before the commencement of winter, treatments with GA3, thiourea and kinetin were given to seeds before stratification at 7°C, 10°C or 24°C. The seedlings raised from the treated seeds and after-ripened at 24°C were dwarf. The seedling growth was increased when the treated seeds were stratified at 10°C or 7°C and the stratification period was prolonged from 15 days to 75 days. 10°C stratification-temperature was better than 7°C. The seedling growth was improved when the seed coat was removed before the treatments. With respect to both seed types, 1000 mg/l GA3 produced the tallest seedlings at all the after-ripening temperatures and during each stratification period. The next best treatment was 100 mg/l kinetin.  相似文献
