The veterinary profession is being offered an unique opportunity to extend its activities to encompass a new concept of animal production; the farming of deer. New Zealand is pioneering techniques of deer farming on a large scale and is considered to possess the most advanced deer farming operation in the western world. The farming of deer was established after the enactment of the Deer Farming Regulations 1969.
